Sentimental ring found after 10 years under water in Matteson Lake, MI.

Gregg Larabel, my fellow Ringfinder, and I searched for a lost house key for LeAnn (a special education teacher) a couple of weeks ago with no luck.  During that search LeAnn mentioned she had lost a ring years ago, and knew it was gone forever.  We had to twist her arm to hear the whole story.  LeAnn’s Dad gave the ring to his wife to celebrate LeAnn’s birth, and Mom passed the ring on to LeAnn in her sophomore year in high school.  In her senior year a friend pushed her off a dock into the lake, and her ring flew off into the water.  Last night LeAnn gave Gregg the address of where she lost the ring, and off Gregg and I went this morning for the treasure hunt.  Shortly after arriving at the lake I was in waist-deep water when I got a good strong signal, probably a pull tab I thought.  No, this sounded better than a pull tab.  Could this be the ring?  (Your heart rate really does go up a notch.)  Several scoops in 6 inches of muck, and the ring appeared in my scoop.  Almost 10 years under water has been a little hard on the ring, but we hope a jeweler can fix it up for her.  The plan is to get a picture of LeAnn with her repaired ring when it is completed.

Mens White Gold Wedding Band Lost & Found, Studland Beach

Craig & family from Essex were enjoying their last day of holiday on Studland Beach when it nearly ended in disaster.

For safe keeping Craig had put his wedding band on the towel for safe keeping as sun cream, sand and sea usually spells LOSS! Only trouble was he’d forgotten it was there, moved the towell and the ring was gone. They tried desperately for some time before finally contacting me. I was there at the beach a little later & within seconds the machine cried gold!

Craig was very relieved to have the ring back & will make a kind donation to the Margaret Green Animal Rescue shortly.

Lost Platinum Wedding Ring Second Beach (Sachuest Beach) Middletown Rhode Island… Found! While I was searching for another lost ring at second Beach Middletown RI, Rory flagged me down with the story of his lost ring. Ready to enjoy the summer beach day with his family, Rory took off with watch and wedding ring, placing them both on top of his t-shirt. Sometime later Rory was gathering his belongings and realized he didn’t have his wedding ring – only 15 minutes later he looked up and saw me walking by with my metal detector. After listening to the story, it sounded like Rory knew exactly where his wedding ring was lost. I asked him to stay put in the beach spot until I finished searching for the other lost ring. Minutes later Rory showed where his cloths were and we cleared the area of chairs, a beach buggy, and sand toys. Rory was spot on with where he thought he lost his ring. One swing of my metal detector and another owner was reunited with a very sentimental possession! As always, it was a pleasure to help find a lost wedding ring!

Lost Diamond Ring Second Beach (Sachuest Beach) Middletown Rhode Island… Found!

Stephanie called after losing her diamond ring at Second Beach (Sachuest Beach) Middletown Rhode Island. She jumped out of her beach chair to chase her toddler, forgetting her ring was sitting on her lap. She realized the ring was lost while driving home and called me immediately. After a brief phone call and some rescheduling, I was on my way to find Stephanie’s lost ring. I met Stephanie’s husband Drew at the beach and he took me right to the location they were sitting on the previous day. It being a Sunday with beautiful weather, the beach was packed. Fortunately, Drew knew exactly where they were sitting and I was able to find the ring within 3 minutes – right in between 4 other beach-goers and their towels! ****** Julian’s friend threw her car keys off the second floor balcony of her apartment. Her mother was able to find metal detecting service when she located TheRingFinders online. After two days of looking through the landscape plants which was mostly ivy. They set up a time that afternoon that I could meet them to attempt a search.

When we met Julian took me up the spot where the throw happened. I could see many places that keys could hide including a trash dumpster and the roofs of the garages. Concentrating on the landscaping and especially the ivy which are perfect hiding places. 

The keys with a remote garage door opener showed up in the ivy more than 150 ft. away from the launching point. I was actually beginning to call off the search because I thought nobody could throw keys that far. I learn something every time I do a search. 

Julian and her mother, Jennifer were about to give up hope when I let them know I found the keys.

Lost Wedding Ring, Recovered, Lake James, Angola Indiana

At the lake for the weekend, Ryan was tossing a football with friends in the shallow water and enjoying the weekend. There were a few boats anchored nearby, along with his. It was a nice day on the lake, until Ryan threw the football again and something happened. The stitches on the football stripped his rose gold/tungsten ring off his finger! They all looked for the ring, scouring the bottom in the general area, but with no luck. Ryan took to google, discovered The Ringfinders and was hopeful his wedding ring could be reunited with him.
Luckily, they had taken some cellphone photos and videos from their boat and the geolocation coordinates were enabled, leaving an accurate point of reference to search!
As I suspected, there were lots of beer bottle caps and can pull tabs strewn all around the area. An hour went by, grid searching the area, but nothing but bottle caps at that point.
The night before, I scanned several tungsten rings to double check the vdi range they registered on my detector. Most registered in a specific vdi range, but there were some anomalies with a few, so it was going to be a mostly « dig-everything » search.
After another half hour, I got a clean and loud signal unlike the bottle caps and pull tabs. In the scoop I saw a mens tungsten ring, But, it was the wrong color and not Ryan’s!
I kept to it, some rain was starting and had storms moving into the area very soon. This morning was our soonest window of opportunity to take advantage of.
With time dwindling, I moved slightly outside of the search area, picked up the pace and it was looking somewhat grim. Then, I got a smooth clean signal, vdi number 18, the same as most of the tungsten rings I had scanned last night…. aha.
With high hopes, I reached down using my pinpointer to locate this target. I could feel a Ring!! I secured it on my index finger, then into my grasp. It was rose gold in color!!
Ryan and his wife were watching from nearby and I could tell they had been losing some hope. Going on two hours of searching now, I carefully held the ring up and signaled to him…
Ryan burst into the water, rushed over and was completely overwhelmed with emotion and relief as he got close enough to see his ring, he was in total disbelief that I had actually found it!

Lost ring in Provo: found

Three years ago, Kayla’s husband lost his heirloom wedding ring. The ring had belonged to Kayla’s grandfather, then her father, and then her husband. The 14K yellow gold nugget ring was made from Alaskan gold. They hoped the ring was just lost somewhere in the home, but after three years, they realized it wasn’t going to turn up on its own. They thought the ring may have slipped off in the back yard, so Kayla contacted me and asked for help. You may wonder if a ring that was lost several years ago can be found with a metal detector. Yes, it can! I have found rings that have been in the ground for 80 – 100 years, or more. I was happy to bring my metal detectors and do the search. After about 40 minutes of pushing tree branches out of the way, moving lumber, and dragging a small swimming pool out of the way, I found the ring, down a couple of inches in the grass! Now the heirloom is back in the family. Maybe someday Kayla’s son will own it.

*****Scott called me the day after he lost his white gold wedding band in the surf near the Pier in Venice Beach, CA.  He always takes his wedding band off his finger and keeps it inside the upper inside pocket of his wetsuit. It was almost too warm to wear a wet suit and he was hot as he came out of the water. In waist deep water he dropped the upper part of his wetsuit. Scott knew right away that his ring went into the water.

 He was up able to meet me the next morning which didn’t seem like much of a problem for me. It was directly  in front of the lifeguard tower, he knew for sure that’s where the loss occurred and I would be able to search at low tide. 

In began my grid search lower into to surf working my way up to the best possible location. Boom!! Scott’s ring in the scoop. Perfect directions and great timing to get there within the first 24 hours. Scott was at work, not able to pick it up. He had me give it to his friend that teaches surfing there at Venice Beach Pier.
