Platinum Ring Returned

I got the E-Mail this morning @ 6:15 am from Melissa saying that her and some friends were at the beach yesterday and she had lost her Diamond Platinum Wedding Band… I told her time is of the utmost importance for a quick recovery… She agreed to meet me at the beach in less than 2 hours…A Safe returned Platinum Ring this morning… after two long hours of searching the mudflats of the bay, I asked Melissa if she could show me where she moved her chair too when the tide chased her up on the beach…Ten minutes and Ten feet away BANG… I told her she may want to come over and see what I am about to uncover… I said this sounds and looks like it may be your ring…sure enough it was a beautiful Wedding Band Platinum with Diamonds were staring up at the both of us… Another great day, and feeling excited for her to get it back on her finger… 2016-08-08 12.49.152016-08-08 AAA1
Hi Leighton,

Thank you again!! I’m so happy to have my ring back.

Yesterday a few of my friends and I took our annual beach trip with our four year olds to the beach in my town. Before we left, I stashed my engagement and wedding rings in a Ziploc bag while I put some sunblock on my daughter. I forgot all about them until I pulled something out of the bag for the third or so time since we arrived at the beach and noticed that I didn’t see my wedding band. My heart dropped. While one friend took our kids to get ice cream, another friend and I frantically searched both the first spot where we’d set our things down (which was now nearly underwater) and the spot where we’d landed after our exodus. Knowing that I wouldn’t have much time to devote to the search, I did my best to remember the spot we were in, though I pretty much gave up hope that I’d ever see my ring again.
On a whim later that night, I consulted Google with a query of “lost wedding band on beach” and the first site that popped up was theringfinders.com. I searched for ring finders in my area, emailed Leighton first thing the next morning and had a response from him within the hour. After speaking to him on the phone, we decided to meet at the beach in a little over an hour, and I headed home from work. When we met, Leighton was realistic but upbeat, and said that if he found the ring, he would be on a good role for the week.
Using location data from a geotagged photo we took at the beach, we tried to isolate the first spot where I thought I might have lost it, and despite nearly two hours, a lot of ground covered, and a lot of hopes dashed every time we located a bottle cap, pull tabs, and broken aluminum can tops, we moved up to the second spot. Here, I had a better idea of where it could have been but less hope that it would be there, and I kept expecting Leighton to give up. But he kept at it, In what felt like no time at all, he heard something promising, called me over to see what he may uncover, he was certain this could be the ring, and there it was! Staring up at the both of us, It was easily one of the best moments of disbelief I’ve ever felt, and I frankly still can’t believe he found it. Thank you, Leighton, for your responsiveness, diligence and positive attitude! In less than 24 hours I had my ring back on my finger. I’m so happy I didn’t break his streak!

My 50th! Lost White Gold Wedding Band at McGrew Point Officer Housing…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

Todd50aTodd50b
How fitting that my 50th ring find service is to a fellow US Navy Limited Duty Officer such as I retired in 2003. This started with a phone call from Todd who was looking to buy an inexpensive metal detector. I asked him if he lost something and just needed someone to metal detect for it. He told me his 4 year old daughter took his wife Jennifer’s White Gold Wedding Band and threw it out in the front yard from the front lanai. He didn’t get to her in time before she threw the ring he only heard a « tink » of the ring hitting the concrete sidewalk. The front lawn is Hawaiian Crab Grass and it can hide a ring with ease. To make matters worse the lawn crew was coming in two days and if we didn’t find the ring heaven only knows where a weed wacker or lawn mower could send that ring. I started my search closest to the house thinking a 4 year old couldn’t throw a ring very far. I had to deal with the side walk re-bar but other than that the grass was sterile. First target was a Lincoln cent. Working away from the house I found two more underground targets using my pin-pointer so I moved on. I was beginning to think this ring took a weird bounce and might be in the bushes close to the house. That was going to be a pain. I decided to do one more arc of the search and near an irrigation pipe I got a nice tone. I put the pin-pointer into the grass and got a signal. Even with the pin-point it was hard to see the ring in the grass. Todd and I joked it was time to get his daughter into baseball because she had quite the arm. The ring was a good 20+ feet from where she threw it. Todd said he would have never thought to look that far away. With a handshake and a Mahalo the ring wasn’t going to be launched by the lawn crew. Aloha to Todd & Jennifer!

Platinum Diamond Wedding Rings Lost .. Laguna Beach, CA. .. Found Next Day

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

Friday morning I had to pick up something across town when Brad called me. His wife Megan had lost her wedding ring set. I was two hours away and asked them if the could guard the area. I kept them updated on my arrival time assuring them that my metal detector could find the rings as long as they knew the general location.
I’ll let Megan tell how it happened.

Laguna Bch.. Megan and Brad’s 17yr. Wedding ring set. Authored by Megan
Yesterday, at the beach, our vacation took a downturn. I took off my wedding rings to apply sunscreen …. They were not seen again. Our site looked like an archeological dig to no avail. Today Brad googled « metal detector Laguna Beach » (we were thinking about renting one) and found a group called The Ring Finders – metal detecting specialists. We called one of them and he came out this afternoon. We showed him the area we had been and within 5 minutes both were found. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Vacation saved. So I have to give a shoutout to our guy- Stan Ross! They don’t charge a fee, so while I gave him a huge hug, Brad gave him a wad of cash. #wishweknewaboutthemyesterday www.theringfinders.com

Gold Wedding Ring Lost at Santa Monica Beach, CA…Found and Returned with Joy.

  • from Redondo Beach (California, United States)

P1000142P1000140

Just one week ago I received a call from Bianca about her husband’s lost wedding ring. I told her I would come right away, and she told me that the loss took place near where they had set up their beach towels, which encouraged me. I haven’t been able to post until now because my hard drive failed and needed to be replaced.

When I got to the beach Bianca and her husband met me and showed me to the spot of the loss. She told me that her husband wanted to go swimming, and realizing going in the water might cause the ring to come off and be lost, he gave it to his wife for safekeeping.  She in turn put the ring on her thumb, so she would know exactly where it was. While he was swimming, and she was laying on her towel watching, a ball made a perfect trajectory in her direction, which caused he to swat at it with, of course, the hand that had the ring on the thumb. Bianca soon realized that after the ball was gone, that the ring was gone also.

I began my search in the direction the ball went when Bianca hit it. I did a thorough search, and cross grid, pulling up just a few coins, and no ring. I then went back to them, pulled my headphones off so I could discuss more options. As I was walking back, I believe Bianca and her husband anticipated my next action, and removed their towels, so I could look in the area where they were laying and behind them. I got back to them, and rested my detector so I could explain how hitting the ball could have cause the ring to actually bounce off of the ball, and go behind them. After my little talk, I put my headphones back on, and picked my detector up, when I heard that unmistakable sound. I had put my detector’s coil right on top of the ring when we were talking, but had not heard it because I had removed the headphones, and because of all the other ambient beach noise. I put my scoop in and pulled out this nice looking wedding ring to great joy all around. Bianca and her husband had only been married a few months, and she would have felt horrible for being the one to have lost her husband’s ring. It was a great pleasure to restore their joy.

If you lose your ring or other metal item of value, call as soon as possible. I will work hard, using the most up to date metal detectors, to help you find what you thought might never be found again. I search,  Beverly Hills, Hermosa Beach, Huntington Beach, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Malibu, Manhattan Beach, Newport Beach, Rancho Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Santa Monica, Seal Beach, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Torrance, Venice Beach, and all parks, yards, gardens, and ponds (to 5 foot depths) in all of Orange County, all of Los Angeles County, and Ventura County.

Lost Gold Wedding Band at Four Seasons Resort Ko Olina…FOUND

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

Andy aul shaka.jpg
Andy aul ring
This ring find started in the middle of July when I got a call from Andy from Alamo, California. While playing catch with his son in the Four Season’s lagoon his Gold Wedding Band came off in chest deep water. I arrived around noon and started my search. The lagoons are fairly easy to detect in with pure white sand and the rings normally stay within a few inches of the surface for days. Andy stood in the water where he thought he was when the ring came off and I started my search working out and away from his position. I searched for nearly an hour with no luck finding the ring. I found a different ring and a few coins. I was frustrated not being able to find Andy’s ring which should have been a cinch. I told Andy I would come back that weekend and search the deeper water with scuba in case his ring came off when he was throwing the ball and it might have went deep. Unfortunately Andy had to leave later that day without his ring. I hate when that happens. I came back the next weekend and did a grid search on scuba in deeper water and again another ring and bracelet but not Andy’s ring. That takes me to today I was doing a shallow to neck deep search for some Oakley prescription glasses when I got a nice low tone in thigh deep water. Two scoops and there was a Gold Wedding Band. Sure enough it was engraved and dated as Andy told me it would be. But why in the shallow water? I guess third time is a charm! Aloha to Andy!

Silver Wedding and Engagement Ring set Lost in the Ocean – Found and Returned Myrtle Beach SC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

I got a call from Jodi, who was here on vacation with her family from South Dakota asking if I could help find a Wedding and Engagement ring set that was lost in waist deep water in Myrtle Beach. I told her Myrtle Beach was in Matt Fry’s area and I’d call him and one of us would call her back within 10 minutes. I called Matt who was busy with a work project he has to complete and he told me to go ahead and take the call. I called Jodi back, got the location and was on my way.

I arrived within 20 minutes and met Jodi, her brother, mother, father, and Sister Jenna and her husband Clayton on the beach. I found out that Jenna was the one who had lost her ring set and I could tell she was very upset as today was hers and Clayton’s 3 week anniversary. I got some additional details on the time, area and the depth they were when the rings came off. I started a grid search in knee deep water with my White’s PI, which I’ve been having problems with and had just gotten back from being repaired. About 10 minutes in the water and the PI started acting up again with a very low volume and just one steady tone – not good when I’m looking for someone’s treasure!!! Luckily I had brought my AT Pro just in case and it was a good thing I did. Thinking I’d have to work the water and not having a machine that could I called Jim Brouwer asking if he could help, as always he was on his way. Meantime I told Jenna what was going on and that I’d start at the tide line and work my way out while waiting for Jim to show up. As I got to the water line I moved farther south than the area they told me trying to figure out my starting point for the grid. As I start my grid I take 2 steps and get a good 46-47 on the AT Pro, I’m thinking no way. Took a scoop and dumped it on the ground and could see Jenna’s beautiful ring looking up at me. I’m chuckling as I pick it up and walk out to the surf to wash the sand off. I slipped her ring in my pocket, knowing it’s hers from the original description I got. I called Jim real quick and told him I had found it and then I walked back up the beach to Jenna and I asked her to tell me one more time what her rings look like. She’s getting her phone and trying to find a picture when I jokingly tell her she’s taking too long and does it look like this as I hold her ring up. Clayton was standing beside me and saw it in my hand but didn’t spoil the surprise for Jenna. Jenna looked up and she instantly covered her face with her hands trying to hold back her emotions. The excitement of everybody was unbelievable. There’s just nothing better than returning someone’s treasure!!

Jenna and Clayton thank you so much for the very generous reward and for trusting in me to help you find your beautiful rings. Happy 3 week anniversary and I hope all your future dreams come true.

Jim

Found 4 Gold Rings at Jericho Beach, Vancouver.

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

I’m at work and the phone rings I was thinking maybe its a ring call…It was but not your normal ring call…The lady who is French Canada and visiting Vancouver with her family had a horrible experience at one of our local beaches…

She lost all 4 of her rings! How? She like others took them off to put suntan lotion on herself and her children, she put the rings on her towel. Hours later forgetting she did that she lifted up the towel and walked away.

Could you imagine the gut wrenching feeling she must’ve had when she looked down and saw no rings on her fingers!  As you could imagine she was devastated!

Her and her husband went right back to the area they had  spent the day and searched in the sand for over an hour but had no luck finding the 4 rings.

Not giving up, 2 days later she got online and found me on TheRingFinders.com she couldn’t believer her eyes as she & her husband never thought there was such a service.

A phone call later and a late night search vpervided a successful recovery of all 4 rings! What an amazing feeling for me and an emotional one for her!

Lost BVLGARI Ring…Found at Jericho Beach!

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

The call came in from a young lady who lost her ring that her mother gave her many years ago, she lost it at Jericho Beach in Vancouver…The young lady found TheRingFinders.com because the lifeguard told them about me.

She went on to explained that they knew the area where the ring came off but just couldn’t find it. Amazing how fast the sand can hide your ring and how hard it is too find.

I grabbed my detector and headed for beach which was about 40 minuts from my house, when I got there it only took 5 minutes or so to locate the beautiful ring…

She was very happy to see her ring again her boyfriend went to the lifeguards to thank them for telling them about TheRingFinnders.com

Lost Platinum Diamond Wedding Ring .. Newport Beach, CA. .. Found and Returned

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

Lucia had been on the beach for the day with her husband and son. The guys were swimming when the high tide waves began to get close to their beach towels and chairs. Lucia had to quickly relocate everything by herself. After moving she looked into her purse and could see that the small plastic invisaligner case was open and empty. That was where she had put her platinum and diamond wedding ring. The invisaligner was laying on the wet sand but the ring was gone.
Her husband Frank got on his smart phone to search for metal detectors I the Newport / Balboa beach area. He found my contact information online in TheRingFinders.com website. It was less than a half hour that I was on the beach meeting them. A few minutes after Lucia pointed out where she had been, I was able to find her beautiful platinum and diamond ring. It was an easy find but if they waited one more day, it would have been in the Beach King sand cleaning machine.. I’m retired living very close to most Southern California beaches. I can usually get to any of them within an hour.
It was a pleasure meeting and helping Lucia and Frank. Also a bonus for them that their wedding ring was only hiding in the sand for less that two hours.imageimage
