White Gold Wedding Band Lost in the Dry Sand, Found and Returned Sunset Beach NC

Friday, Sept 2nd, I got a call from Monicka asking if I was the ring finder. After replying yes, she asked if I could help find her wedding band that she lost earlier in the day. I asked her how and where she lost it. She said she put her ring in the cup holder of the lounge chair and when they left the beach the ring wasn’t there. I asked her if it was lost in the dry sand and if there was any chance it could be covered up by the incoming tide. She assured me they were far enough up in the dry sand that the tide wasn’t a concern. I told her I’d be there by 7:45 pm.

My wife and I finished our dinner, I drove her home and grabbed my Equinox 800 and headed out. I arrived about 10 minutes early and met Monicka and her brother in the driveway of the rental where they were staying. As we walked out on the beach, Monicka pointed out the area where the family had been sitting. I confirmed I was looking for a white gold band and started an east/west grid search. I knew the VDI (visual display indicator) would show somewhere from 5-9, depending on the size of the ring. I was just about to finish my second grid line when I got a solid 7 on the VDI. I gave Monicka a look that said “I got it!” I took a small scoop of sand and gently shook out the sand and saw the ring in the bottom of the scoop. I held the scoop out so Monicka could retrieve her ring. Got a Big smile and hug from Monicka.

Lost Gold Ring Underwater Found on Belle Isle Park Beach Detroit Michigan

Cooling Off….

…was all newlyweds Brian and Amanda were looking to do when their electric power went out. To escape the swamp-like humid weather they headed for the water. When they arrived at the beach area on Belle Isle, they ran thru the sand and jumped right in the cooling water. Enjoying the view of Detroit, they started to splash around. Feeling refreshed they got to the shore and enjoyed a nice sunset. It wasn’t until back at the car Brian noticed his wedding band missing. Now nearing dark, they decided to drive home. Arriving home, the area was still experiencing a blackout. Feeling powerless in another form Brian didn’t know watt to do. He considered buying a metal detector from an outlet store but didn’t know when or if they could get one in time, so they passed on that not-so-bright idea. Plugging his phone into the car power outlet Brian searched for a way or someone who could shed a bit more light on the problem. Talking on the phone and setting up a time to search, Amanda felt this may be the spark that was needed to end this shocking experience. Arriving at the beach, Amanda and I headed back into the water to the general area where Brian was pointing to and thought his ring came off. Out into the 4-foot-deep area with metal detector, snorkel mask and pin-pointer I started to feel the current of the Detroit River letting me know it’s power. As I grid searched, I started to get some signals on my metal detector, these ended up being pull tabs and some bottle caps. A few more sweeps produced a nice mellow metal signal I was familiar with. Reaching down with the pinpointer and moving some sand around with it I felt the vibration and peeking thru the snorkel mask I saw Brian’s gold ring! Descending down closer I grabbed it and resurfaced. Waving Amanda over, Brian was on the shoreline and knew we had something! She put the ring on her finger, held it in the air and he started dancing in the sand! Back on the shore he was totally jolted with amazement and overloaded with joy that his ring was found! With smiles on their faces, they thanked me and the ringfinders for lighting up their world and transforming their dark days into brightness.

iPhone 13 Lost and Found Under Water, Occoquan River, Virginia

Ash was working hard at his job with the Carefree Boat Club when his phone slipped out of his pocket and fell into the water. His brother, Time, met me in Woodbridge after I’d recovered a ring and asked me for a business card. Ash called me using Times phone and asked for my help. I agreed to meet Ash at the dock the next morning.

Mrs. Ellis (my safety diver) and I arrived around 11am. As always, we checked the conditions before unpacking the equipment. While on the dock, we met Time who showed us where the phone was lost. When Ash arrived, he provided a detailed description of the incident and location. Visibility in the water was about two feet, and the water was about nine feet deep.

When the phone landed in the water, it planed, much like a paper airplane does when it’s thrown. It ended up under the dock. Nevertheless, I recovered the phone in a record breaking 6 minutes! As I touched the phone, I was surprised to see the screen light up. However, I should not have been surprised, as the newer iPhones are quite water resistant.

Lost White Gold & Diamonds Engagement Ring at Shorebird Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a voicemail from Raquel who was on vacation from Atlanta, Georgia with her husband Bill.  While sitting in shallow water at Shorebird Beach Waikiki her White Gold & Diamonds Engagement ring fell off and disappeared in the shore break sand.  They and several others hunted with mask & snorkel for over two hours and couldn’t find the ring.  Raquel « Googled » water metal detecting services and that’s how she found my number.  My work day was nearly over so I called her and said I’d have my wife drop me off at the nearby Army Museum and hunt for her ring.  Thankfully traffic was still light and I was able to get there in about 30 minutes after picking up my detecting gear.  When I arrived Bill & Raquel showed me the area of concern and Bill even stood in the water as a marker so I could keep position as I hunted around beachgoers as the tide and surf was coming up too.  I went out to the deep side of the grid and searched toward shore.  There were a few targets but not the ring.  Raquel assured me she was in very shallow water so I guessed the ring could have been pushed up the shoreline by a swell.  Sure enough as I started gridding the wet sand I got a loud #9 on the Nox and in one scoop I had the target.  Anyone that has hunted this beach knows how coarse and lumpy the sand is so I dumped my scoop in the higher up wet sand and as I glanced down there was Raquel’s stunning ring glistening in the sand.  I bent down picked it up and exclaimed,  « Got it »!  Raquel was so relieved I could see a few tears welling up in her eyes.  We hugged as I handed her back her ring.  Oh the joy of a recovery!  Aloha to Raquel & Bill!

Brant Beach (LBI) NJ Wedding Band lost for 2 months recovered by Edward Trapper NJ Ring Finder August 2022

Valentina called yesterday after I was tagged on her post about her beautiful wedding ring that was lost in Beach Haven N.J (LBI) almost 2 months ago, on July 4th. We talked for a while, and determined that where it was lost there was a good chance it could still be there. She wasn’t positive the ring was on the beach, but sure did know where her towel was, which is a good starting point for my search. We decided to begin early today before swimmers arrived. About 30 minutes later my machine gave a REAL nice solid tone, and sure enough, the ring was in the scoop. Photographer Lost Her SD Card, Wolf Creek Road, Edson Alberta

Jordan called me this morning requesting my service to locate her 64gb San-disk card which she lost while taking photo shoots of her clients out in a remote area in Yellowhead county.
It was very important to locate the SD card because she had pictures of four different clients on that disk. It would be very expensive to redo all the photo shoots again plus the time and the inconvenience to her clients. The disk was lost in very tall grass. Jordan and some friends searched the area last night for about three hours with no luck. I told Jordan if she put me in the approximate area that she lost the card I would find it. I told her I could be there in about two hours since she is 200 Km away from me.
I meet Jordan at the area and within 30 minutes I found her SD card in perfect condition. Jordan was overwhelmed and very happy to have her card back.

Another Busy Sunday Afternoon!

For reasons that are probably easy to figure out, the weekends can be very busy for Ring Finders like us. This past Sunday was no exception for me. I received two calls within 5 minutes of each other. I had someone working on my house and it was almost dinner time so I sent the first caller to my buddy Brendon. When the second call came in, knowing Brendon would already be on the first call, I asked the woman if I could call her back. I checked with my contractor, and my wife, and decided I could probably make it out to find the second caller’s ring.

Forty minutes later I found myself at Baker Beach once again!
I swear, the sand there just SUCKS rings in like quicksand.

I met these clients on the beach after parking my car. I reviewed with them what they were doing when they lost it and where they thought it might have gone. Within a few short minutes, I had found the ring!

If only all of our ring finds were this easy and quick!

Brant Beach(LBI) NJ Lost Cartier Bangle Bracelet recovered by Edward Trapper NJ Ring Finder August 2022

Got a call from Camille Saturday evening. She had lost her bangle bracelet, but wasn’t sure where. She did have a picture from the night before, which was taken on Brant Beach (LBI) NJ. We figured that was a good place to start. They marked the location in google maps and sent it to me. I arrived at the beach ASAP and after about 1 1/2 hrs. I had no luck finding it. She came down to look where I had been, and we made a few adjustments to the search location. Within 15 min. I had one half of this beautiful Cartier love bracelet in my scoop, and about 10 min later both half’s were safely in my pouch. I walked up to the house to meet her, and told her she wasn’t in the spot she believed she was. With that said, Camille looked down and said, « I guess you had no luck ». I replied, « you were 10′ over » and handed her the bracelet. What a weekend, her birthday was Saturday, her lost bracelet was found, and today her grandson is expected to arrive!!!!!!!!!.

Swamp Thing versus The Ring Finders (fighting over a Lost Texas A&M Ring)

Swamp Thing versus The Ring Finders
I was contacted by Harendra Mondal a resident of Katy, Texas who was looking for someone to help him recover his son’s lost Texas A&M Class Ring from a bog in Katy, Texas.
Harendra reported his son was visiting a wetland (bog-swamp) area in Katy one evening when a large, massive creature arose from the swamp. Harendra said the creature caused such a fright, that in his son’s effort to escape from the creature, his Texas A&M Class ring slid off his finger and fell into the swamp.
Harendra said when his son returned home and told them of the horrific event, they did a little internet research and identified that his son was a Swamp Thing victim. Harendra’s son had told his father he was not sure if Swamp Thing saw his ring fall into the water and was hoping he might one day be able to recover it
Harendra said while researching the Swap Thing on the internet, he came across The Ring Finders website and located (Houston Metal Detecting Services) and placed the call. Harendra provided me with all the details related to his son’s lost class ring, as he asked if we could recover the lost ring. Harendra further stated his concern beyond Swamp Thing in the swamp was Alligators, and Venomous Snakes that have been seen in those waters.
After a review of all the information, a plan was made to search during the heat of the day in hopes that Swamp Thing would be deep into the cooler waters of the swamp, and that we might go unnoticed.
As one can see from the photos, we were able to successfully sneak into the Swamp and recover this Texas A&M Class ring

22K Gold Ring Found for Owner, Falmouth, Massachusetts

Will was on his way back home to Canada.  His 22K gold ring wasn’t.  It was buried at an uncertain location on the beach.

Yesterday, a late evening call from Will alerted me to the fact that he’d lost his ring somewhere in dry sand or in the water while they were enjoying a day on the sand and in the surf.  I arranged to meet him early today and he showed me the areas he expected the ring to be: a dry sand area where he’d played ‘spike ball’, an area where the family sunned on the dry sand, and a water area where he’d been swimming.  Will had asked a detectorist who happened by to scan the first area, with no results.  The water seemed like the next best bet so I started there, working parallel to shore from neck-deep in toward the beach.  After about two hours with no results I went ashore and scanned the spike-ball and sunning areas but came up with nothing but some trash.  In the meantime, Will and family had to depart for home.  I’d assured him that if I found the ring I’d arrange to send it back to him.

Back in the water, I started in the middle of the search area, working in- and off-shore toward one side until I reached the edge.  I then expanded the search area and within a few minutes got a nice solid signal.  I sank the scoop deep and a few seconds later was looking Will’s buttery-gold ring sitting in a scoopful of gravelly cobbles.  Success!

The next step will be to ship the ring home.  I had a great time on this search and I’m elated that I’ll be able soon to re-unite Will and his ring!

Update, 23 October: Will’s ring was shipped off to his sister in New York state on 30 August, as it was anticipated that he would be visiting her in early September and this also would avoid possible customs issues in getting his ring back into Canada.  Unfortunately, the planned visit did not work out but now, finally, the ring has made it back to where it belongs!  Will, thank you for adding your background story about the ring.  I’m so happy for you and Swathi that the ‘circle is now complete’!
