*** Mohamed and his wife had been at Newport Beach, CA.  during the day. When they got home his wife, Denna discovered her white gold diamond wedding ring was not on her finger. Mohamed found my information online while researching metal detectors.

It was about  8pm in the evening when he called me. After he told me the general location, I knew it was important not to wait till tomorrow to do the search. He said he was 20 minutes away and could meet me on the beach in the dark. I was at the location about 5 minutes before he met me at the towel line.

He started me in an area he thought was where the had been. Then as he wondered around in the area he called me over to a location that looked better. As he talked to his wife on the phone,

she told him there was some sort a white ribbon near where they had been sitting.

I was grid searching the second zone when Mohamed called me over to the third area where he spotted the ribbon. Note he was wandering around in the dark using his celphone flashlight. It didn’t take long to find the ring with my metal detector after we found the correct location. Actually a whole block away from where he started me. This seems to be normal especially at night after the people have left the beach.

He was absolutely super excited because he did not trust that the metal detector could find such a small item in the massive area of sand. It was also a very beautiful ring and because it was the original wedding ring any replacement would never be the same. We did work together to make this happen. I enjoyed meeting Mohamed and it was my pleasure to help him find such an important part of he and his wife’s marriage.

Lost Gold & Platinum Wedding Band at Nai’a Lagoon Ko Olina…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This Ring Find began when I got a call from Angelina who was on vacation from Northern California and staying at the Marriott Resort at Ko Olina. While her husband Michael and his son were playing one-handed catch with a football in Nai’a Lagoon at some point his Gold & Platinum Wedding band went missing. Angelina told me he snorkeled for quite awhile looking but couldn’t find the ring. I agreed to meet Michael early the next morning so he could show me the search area. When I arrived the next morning Michael was waiting on the beach. I went down and we drew grid extremes in the sand, then I told Michael since the area was quite large to go ahead and enjoy time with his family and that I would call when/if I found the wedding band. On the third leg I got a loud tone and good numbers on the Nox and after three scoops I had a 10K gold band in the scoop but it wasn’t Michael’s so I continued on. I found a few coins and some trash then after about an hour and nearly 80% done with the search area I got another loud tone with #13 on the Nox. Then in one scoop in thigh deep water there was Michael’s ring in the bottom of my scoop. I walked back to my car and texted Angelina & Michael a pic of the ring. I immediately got a Wooowwa!!! and some happy Emojis. Angelina met me at the Longboards and escorted me to the pool area where Michael and the family was so he could be reunited with his wedding band. Everyone in the family was so gracious and thanked me for finding Dad’s ring. I truly meet some of the nicest people on these ring hunts. Much Aloha to Michael, Angelina & Family!

Got a phone call from a young man who said he had lost his white gold wedding band while visiting a little town just outside of Penticton called Granite Creek. He went on to tell me he was throwing a snowball and felts his ring come off his finger. I asked him a few questions, we discussed the search and I agreed to drive four hours up into the interior to help him find his lost ring.

I got up at 3 AM made myself 2 coffees and hit the road at 4:15 AM. I took my time as we were going to meet at 10 AM, I stopped at Manning Park and took a few photos and drone shots. This was my favourite place growing up where my father and mother took me and my brother to enjoy the beautiful outdoors.

I met Devin at 10 AM and I followed him on a 30 minute drive to Granite Creek where he lost his ring, when we both parked I saw him get out and walk to the area quickly to do a once over. There was not much snow left and I asked him if it had melted and he said yes, a lot. Before I took my metal detectors out of the car we walked around and eyeballed the area just in case we could see it. I went back to my car grab my detectors and proceeded to search for his ring.

Much like everyone I have helped in the past I could sense his concern and despair, I knew he really wanted this ring back and I too was hoping I could find it for him. After around 10 minutes bingo… I found his ring under the tree covered u but just enough gold to catch my eye.

I have to tell you I get just as excited as the people I find the rings for, It was a 4 hour drive for both of us, I knew he was very hopeful as was,  because it would’ve been a very long 4 hour drive. back home if we didn’t find it.

ENGAGEMENT RING FOUND IN BATON ROUGE,LA-ONE DOWN ONE LEFT TO GO

  • from Lafayette (Louisiana, United States)
Contact:

Lauren called me around noon on a Tuesday. She had lost her engagement ring and wedding band on Sunday at an event called “Touch a Truck”. A wide variety of trucks, construction equipment, an ambulance, a helicopter, etc. were positioned in a large (over 3 acre) field for the inspection by adults and their children. Lauren and Corey took their young children to see and play on many of the exhibited vehicles. Starting out the adventure, Lauren placed her wedding rings in her pocket before applying sunscreen to the little ones. She also placed her phone in the same pocket. She took many photos of the kids, each time pulling the phone from her pocket. She noticed the rings missing when she returned to the car.

She sent me a map of the event and some photos she had taken. These photos would help me locate the areas where she had taken her phone out of her pocket. Carrie wasn’t feeling well, so I loaded up the equipment and took off alone. I decided first to go for pure luck and make passes the length of the field (600 feet) focusing more on sight than the detector since the area was very trashy with a very noisy detector. Also, the grass was short and not very dense. After a few passes I decided to check the photo and focus on where they were taken, and the phone removed from the pocket. One photo, which turned out to be the first one taken, showed a distinctive lone tree with a tree line behind it. From the photo I sectioned off a possible area where the photo was taken and hopefully the phone was removed from her pocket. I was making my turn to start the final pass in the hunt area and the engagement ring was sitting on top of the ground/grass in full view. I sent a photo to an ecstatic Lauren. Her husband Corey came out to collect the ring and help with analyzing the other photos to look for other hunt areas. After another 2 hours of hunting for the wedding band, I decided to call it a day and come back another time to continue the hunt. Thank you, Lauren, for the generous reward.

Lost Rose Gold Wedding Band at Nai’a Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring hunt began when I got a text from Nathan who was on vacation from Los Angeles, California and was staying at the Marriott Resort near Nai’a Lagoon. He asked if I could come out to the Ko Olina Resort and find his Rose Gold Wedding Band in the dry sand. Nathan said that he gave his ring to his daughter to give to Mom while he was swimming so as not to lose it in the water. His wife put the band on her finger and as she was blowing up an inflatable floatie the ring flew off her hand into the dry sand and disappeared. They initially found my fellow ring finder Don on the website and he referred them to me as the resort’s detectorist. I told Nathan I’d grab my gear during my lunch break and head out to the resort for the recovery. Thankfully traffic was light and I made it out to the resort in a little over 30 minutes. When I arrived Nathan was waiting just inside the public parking walkway where I entered from. Nathan drew a grid in the sand about 20 feet by 10 feet and i started a grid search. There were two deep targets I knew wouldn’t be the ring so I only took one scoop to be sure. On the third target a nice loud 12-13 on the Nox and in one scoop there was Nathan’s Wedding Band. His wife said « Wow! » « That was quick you must do this often. » At least every weekend unless I get a call. Nathan & I shook hands and the vacation was saved. Aloha to Nathan!

Man’s Cobalt Wedding Band Lost on Ocean Isle Beach NC – Found and Returned

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

About 5:15 p.m. on Sunday, March 27th, I received a text message saying, “Hi Jim, My name is Lyndsey and I heard you are an excellent ring finder. Any chance you are available near OIB (Ocean Isle Beach)”.  I called the number and talked with Lyndsey to get the details. She said her friend, Sean, had lost his wedding band while playing catch with her son in the dry sand. She said Sean had told her he had the ring on until he removed the ball glove and within minutes realized his ring was gone. The last thing she mentioned was that their group spent about 45 minutes looking for the ring with no luck. I told her I’d be there in 35-40 minutes, grabbed my gear and headed out. She texted me her address as I was driving out of my neighborhood.

I arrived about 6 p.m. and met Lyndsey in her driveway. She told me that Sean didn’t know that she had found somebody to try and find his ring and hoped we could surprise him. She walked me out to the beach and showed me the area they had been in. I asked what type of ring and she said she was pretty sure it was white gold. I knew the VDI (Visual Display Indicator) number range I was looking for so I started a grid search parallel to the tide line. Plus, since the ring had only been lost within the last couple of hours, it should be within a couple of inches. I completed the area passing up numerous deeper targets outside the range I was looking for. I confirmed the white gold and the time period and the only thing Lyndsey wasn’t sure of was the metal. She texted someone and found out the ring was made from Cobalt. I had no idea what Cobalt was, so I called a friend to see if he had any ideas on where that would show up on the VDI. He had no idea either, so I did another grid search perpendicular to the tide line over the same area expanding east, west and north. This time it took a little longer because I was checking some of the targets I hadn’t check before. While I’m searching, Lyndsey was checking her pictures on her phone and found one that saved the day! She moved me to search further east, which I did. About 3 more grid lines I hit a shallow, solid 9 on the VDI. On my second scoop, I saw the silver looking ring sticking out of the sand. Boom! After almost an hour and twenty minutes, I had Sean’s ring in my hand.

On the way back to the house, Lyndsey and I devised the surprise return, needless to say, Sean was Surprised! Lyndsey was taking the reveal video and didn’t want Sean to see her so the beginning of that part of the video is filming the floor.

Lyndsey – Thank you so much for trusting me to help find Sean’s ring and for taking the videos!!

Sean – happy belated 2nd Anniversary to you and your lovely bride, Kate. Wish you two all the Best.

Jim

*** Asha called me from her home in Huntington Beach, CA. asking for help to find her gold diamond wedding ring. She had been to the neighborhood park with her daughter. They spent most their time at the children’s tot-lot, then walked a couple blocks to her home, where she noticed her wedding ring was no longer on her finger.

I was able to meet her at the park where we started to grid search the sand in the play area. She had an idea of where the ring may have slipped off her finger, but she didn’t really feel the ring leave her finger. It could be anywhere between her home and the sandy play area. After about a half hour, I was running out of area in the sandy lot, the best place for the ring to hide. I could see Asha and her friend losing hope that I could find the ring. Then the magic happened, I got a great tone in the head set of my detector. One scoop with my sifter and there in the bottom was Asha’s diamond ring..

Can’t describe the happiness I saw. It was getting a little tense after more than 30 minutes digging pull tabs and bottle caps. It was a pleasure to meet Asha and help her to recover her ring.

*** Michael’s fiancé lost a platinum engagement ring in the sand at Santa Monica Beach in the dark. They and their friends spent several hours sifting through the sand to no avail. They marked the area so they could return at 5:30 am to resume the search.

Michael decided to try to rent a metal detector after the morning search was unsuccessful. His online attempt to find a metal detector was also discouraging, but he found my contact information. He called me and I was able to leave shortly after he called.

We met on the beach sometime before 9am. I got a brief explanation of how the ring was lost in the sand. He had the area very well marked and he had kept the city beach rake tractor clear of the spot where the loss occurred.

I gave them a little tutorial of how I will begin the search. Most people don’t understand some of the principles of how a metal detector works. I did tell them that this may be an easy search because they had the site marked and secured it from the beach cleaning tractors.

Shortly after setting up my detector and beginning the grid pattern. I got a couple trash metal targets, then I got a solid tone with a good ID number that turned out to be the allusive platinum engagement ring.. Happiness is finding a sentimental ring the was thought to be lost forever. Another special day as a ringfinder in Southern California.

Don’t wait, call as soon as possible… Stan the Metal Detector Man …  949-500-2136  .. “I WILL TRY ANYWHERE “.

Large 14k White Gold Engagement Ring Lost in Post falls Idaho…FOUND!

  • from Spokane (Washington, United States)

Trevor and Sheba are a newly engaged couple with a large problem. The large engagement ring Sheba was wearing to symbolize the couples upcoming union had made its way over the retaining wall and down into the lower property. Trevor and his son had borrowed two different metal detectors from the neighbors and had searched for five days. With no luck the couple turned to the internet which led them straight to me. I left work the very next day after they called and headed to their house. Tevor hadn’t told me exactly how the ring went missing. However after talking to him about recreating the action that caused the ring to be lost, I knew how important the ring was to the couple. Trevor said to tell the readers, mainly the guys, think twice before you act. Trevor did say he heard the ring hit a tree. I must say I truly appreciate an individual who is aware of his surroundings and can recall small details about an event. This little sound he heard sent me into the direction of a small group of trees. As I foraged through the ivy covered ground. I thought to myself how did the multiple searches that had happened, failed in finding the ring? The answer wasn’t because they didn’t try but rather the lack of experience. Because as I headed into the over growth I found a hole in the ivy that one of the guys had dug. In the hole was a small brass tab. The very next target I detected was the ring with 8 vdi and 9 vdi showing on my nox 800 I got a huge smile on my face. Trevor had been watching me from the retaining wall and just about jumped off it when I held that ring up. Trevor was quickly overwhelmed by the whole ordeal but had a heart that was full of gratitude and joy. I gave that guy a few hugs as we took pictures and celebrated. Hands down a truly humble person is Trevor and I’m glad he and his bride Sheba have their ring back. Thank you Trevor for the handsome reward.
