How to Find a Lost Ring in Snow/ White Rock, BC…

Victim #4 (Lost Ring) due to the latest snow storm… Very shortly after my third successful recovery as I walked into my place to sit down and start the video process for my recent recovery, no sooner do I sit down, I get another phone call for a lost ring not far from where I live. I got a tell you, I love each and every call, the excitement of going out to help someone…The young lady who lost the ring her name was Alana, but I was on the phone with her mother who told me her daughter bought a metal detector to search for a diamond ring her grandmother gave her just the day before… I could tell by the tone of her voice that she believed the ring was gone. After talking for about 10 minutes I was confident that the ring would be found.

I asked her where she had lost the ring, she said one of 3 places…House, car, snow. Snow makes the most sense to me, so I arrange to come and meet them and search around the car we’re she was scraping snow off the windshield. When I first got there I met Alana and we discuss the possibilities and where we should start the search. She takes me over to the car we’re she was scraping snow off the windshield. Alana and her mother watch on as I begin to metal detect that area.

The first target signal turned out to be a target in the grass, not her ring. A few steps after that another signal and Bang! found it! This was a very quick search, most of our time spent was discussing where the ring could be, and it was where I thought it would be.

Picking up the ring without them knowing and then surprising them is always fun for me. I feel as good as the person I found it for!!!

Lost Diamond Engagement Ring in North Surrey…Found!

Another victim of our February snowstorm…I received a call from Linda who was extremely saddened by the recent loss of her Tiffany diamond engagement ring that she received at Christmas. After talking to her on the phone for around 10 minutes I learned that she had bought a metal detector, took the day off work and searched with friends but could not find her engagement ring. It’s not uncommon for people to rent or buy a metal detector thinking they will find their ring themselves. Most people don’t realize it takes practice to use a detector and I have over 40 years of practice.

It was snowing out pretty hard, I jumped into my car and headed to North Surrey to help her find her diamond engagement ring. The side roads were a bit of a challenge in my car but I made it to her place, She showed me the area where she was scraping snow off of her car and where her dad was shovelling snow. I started my search in the area where we believe the ring should’ve fallen and after 15-20 minutes and no ring I started searching away from the hot spot.

Not long after I heard that sweet loud and proud target signal and Bang! Found it…

I had one very happy young lady! I love my job! I get to make people Smile!

Lost Gold Wedding Band South Surrey…Found!

Married just 26 hours…Jordan lost his wedding band! Not long after our first snow fall in Feb. I got an email from the young man asking if I had time to help him find his lost ring in the snow.

I called him right away and heard his story about his father and grandfather who had search the day after with a tiger torch and a rented metal detector.

His parents spent a few hours with no luck searching on the side of the road where he had parked and where he had lost his wedding band. I knew it would be important to go right away and search for it

before the ring got cough in a truck tire and driven away or pushed up the road by the snow plow.

Jordan was at work and was comfortable with telling me the location over the phone as he wouldn’t be able to be there. He sent me the address and photos of the area where they had melted the snow and detected.

When I got there I could see the area that was searched and I took out my detector and started searching and my second signal bang! Found it…Less then 2 minutes by the side of the road. People wonder why they can’t

find the ring with a rented detector, its because of experience and I have over 40 years of that…That being said it was a good effort by his parents!

Lost Gold Pendent Found in North Vancouver…

I got a call from a young man who lost a gold pendent, he told me that it was given to him by his father who was a fireman for 25 years and wore this pendent in over a 1000 calls. It was a gold firefighters helmet with the truck number inscribed on the front of the helmet and two dates on the underside. His father gave him the pendent when he retired and his son started in the same Fire Department and truck the day his father retired.

Needless to say it was very important to find this pendent and continue the story so one day his son could have it and know the history of these two great men that put their lives on the line to help others. So we discuss the search area and i start to detect and I’m getting nails and not much else. he shows me that he made a sifter and was checking for the ring but gave up. He dumped the sifter and guess what…It was in the dirt from the sifter! It’s funny where these irreplaceable items show up!

Lost Ring Mission, BC…Found!

It was a very hot day, temperature 105 degrees as I was home trying to keep cool I receive  a call for help in regards to a lost diamond ring possibly lost in some hay in the barn. The young lady told me that there was a few places it cold have been lost but the one place she felt it could be was the barn. Her and others searched the hay but no luck. Its like looking for a (Ring in a Haystack)

I jump in my car and head out on a little over an hour dive to get to the location. When I arrive I was greeted by Bev and her nephew (great young man). We went to check her vehicle first and nothing there. Bev walked me to the barn and minutes later she had her beautiful diamond ring back on her finger!

Why rent a metal detector when you can hire a metal detecting expert who has found & returned over 500 lost rings to their very happy owners!

Most people think of renting a metal detector when they lose their ring, the problem is if you’ve never used one you can be walking away from finding your ring. Its not as easy as it looks and if you’re a first timer it can be confusing, that’s when a metal detecting expert comes into play.

This call was to find a lost diamond ring that has been handed down from generations, three to be exact. I’ve always said that every ring we find for someone has an amazing story attached to it and how that story ends if we can’t find it. This call was to help find her ring in the ocean at English Bay and how she went and bought goggles and searched for hours with no luck! Thankfully we live in the computer age and people have a second chance to find what they thought was lost forever!

Fred’s Lost ROLEX Mercer Island SCUBA Recovery

A Mercer Island resident called me this weekend explaining her neighbor had lost his watch after a day of boating at their private dock. He was grabbing for the dock and a nail staged his watch band and down it went to the bottom of Lake WA. Even though it was a nice warm day for a cool swim Fred made several attempts to free dive for his watch but the depth was just beyond his reach along with the silt and mil foil growth adding to the challenge. Fred knew at this point they had to find someone equipped for the recovery. Fortunately his neighbor recalled a past recovery on the lake performed by another RingFinder member. She eventually got me on the phone and the mission was activated. After learning that this was no ordinary watch but a ROLEX I was very happy to oblige, of course I was excited as this would be my fist ROLEX recovery!

Lost Diamond Ring in New Westminster, BC…Found!

Yesterday I got a call from a young man who needed my help to find his girlfriends 2 rings that she tossed out of his SUV while driving down the road. People are human, its true! They get mad and when they get mad in most cases rings go flying! I’ve had many calls over the years for these types of recoveries. I’d say most times I’m unsuccessful because of the locations I search are not metal detector friendly. « NEWS FLASH » (While writing this post the couple called me and said that the other ring was found in their home! She has no idea how it showed up there as she is certain she threw it out the window with the other ring…Makes me feel much better! I hate the thought of not finding what I’m looking for).

Well that makes it a happy ending! I have met so many nice people over the years doing what I do and I look forward to meeting many more!

Lost Gold Wedding Band Vancouver, BC…Found

Yesterday I was on a water hunt that started in February but I had to put it aside for warmer water. Well the temperature was perfect and the water was warm but after 4 1/2 hours in the stinky the beaver pond  I sadly had no success. I put in a total of 7 1/2 hours in a relatively small area but with some difficulties. The only thing I could guess was that the ring didn’t go in the water where he thought it did…? It happens, I don’t always have success but with that said I received a call while I was wrapping up the search from a young man that needed help finding his lost wedding band at a playground.

I headed out to the park and got there before him, I started my search and within 15 minutes I found his ring!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

He was extremely lucky that no one found it before us, he had lost it the day before and the following day was a hot one and lots of people at the playground even when I got there around 8pm.

The ring was found in front of the slide and visible to the eye, the good thing was that the wood chips helped camouflage the gold ring.

Lost Gold Wedding Band in Snow/Vancouver,BC…Found!

While sledding at a Vancouver park with his daughter, Chris lost his white gold wedding band. When I met Chris he was very certain that it was lost at the park and he even had a video of him sledding, at one point he was shaking his hands in the video and he felt that was the moment the ring must have come off. Watching the video, I too felt the same way as Chris did as he said the ring was very loose, shaking your hands like that would make the ring come off for sure.

After Chris showed me the area, he went to work, I started my search at the top of the hill. I worked my way grid searching north/south and after 30 minutes I found his 19k white gold wedding band. I feel just as happy as the person I find it for does…Very Happy!
