A beautiful day at the Jersey Shore suddenly turned stressful for Jordan and her husband when a simple moment turned into disaster. had taken her ring off before going into the ocean and handed it to her husband for safekeeping. When she came back from her swim, he began putting the ring back on her finger when somehow it slipped free, dropped into the surf, and instantly disappeared beneath the waves.

Jordan immediately contacted me, Edward Trapper of NJ Ring Finder, and I assured her to stay calm. I asked about the tide and explained that our best chance for a quick recovery would be to search during the next low tide.

When I arrived, there were dozens of people searching for the ring. Everyone had a slightly different idea of where it had fallen, so I had to do some detective work to narrow down the most likely location. I searched the entire slope of the beach and worked my way out into waist-deep water, but despite covering a large area, I came up empty-handed.

Jordan and her husband were understandably devastated. Before leaving, I promised her I would return first thing the next morning at low tide and give it another shot.

The next day, thunderstorms threatened the area, so I kept a close eye on the weather. Metal detecting on an open beach is never worth the risk when lightning is nearby.

After a short while, I heard a beautiful signal—one that immediately gave me confidence. I dug down more than 8 inches into the sand and there it was: Jordan’s precious ring!

The day before, the ring had likely settled too deep for my detector to reach. After a full tide cycle, enough sand had shifted away that the signal came through loud and clear.

Jordan had already driven home the previous day, so I called her with the good news. That evening she made the trip back to the shore, where she was reunited with her ring less than 24 hours after it was lost.

Mom’s Heirloom ring lost in Navarre – FOUND!

I have a passion for helping people find their sentimental rings and that is exactly what my new friend Kathy had. Kathy and her family were at Navarre beach and sat down to enjoy the gulf. Kathy’s daughter told her that she should take her ring off to make sure she didn’t lose it. This is normally wise advice, but unfortunately it got placed on a towel and quickly came off while playing with the grandkids. This was a very important ring because it actually belonged to Kathy’s mom and it was the only ring she chooses to wear. Needless to say she was distraught and I’m very glad she called me. I came out quickly to Navarre before sunset and got the lowdown on where they were sitting and what had happened. I did a couple of passes back-and-forth with no luck. I asked her to go back over the events of the day and she pointed out a very nice group of Neighbors. I decided to take a pass closer to them since I thought they wouldn’t mind and I’m glad I did. I didn’t go very far until I heard a great gold tone and gave Kathy a big smile. When I pulled it up in the scoop she said, does that mean you found it? And I told her that’s exactly what it means and held the scoop out to her. Sentimental heirloom ring is back where it belongs. ? Thank you so much for trusting me Kathy.

Engagement Ring Lost in the Lake-Found!

I got a call from Sydnie on Saturday the 4th and she said her friend who was down from Ohio for the 4th had lost her engagement ring in the lake right behind her house. They were floating about fifteen to twenty feet from the dock. Before I could make it over there they had to return home without the ring. I was able to get there for the search on Tuesday. I geared up for the search using my Manticore with the Gray Ghost Amphibian headphones and a sand scoop. Fortunately the water was only around 4 to 4 1/2 feet deep there. The bottom was a very shallow layer of soft mud, maybe less that 2 inches, with a hard pan of clay underneath. That made it difficult to use a sand scoop, but I made it work. Closer in to the dock there was a lot of iron and other debris that made the going slow, but as I got further away from the dock those signals were further in between. The water was deep enough that I couldn’t see the screen on the Manticore, and the lost ring was white gold so I could concentrate on the low tones. After about an hour and a half I was at least twenty feet away from the dock, maybe a little more, and I got the tell tale double beep low tone that was very strong. The lost ring was white gold so I could concentrate on the low tones. I lifted the detector out of the water to see the screen and it said 06 for the target ID. With the hard pan clay down there it took me three attempts to get the target in the scoop, but there it was, a dainty white gold ring.

Wedding ring found in the water at Sanford Lake in Michigan

I got a call from a lady saying that her husband lost his wedding ring at Sanford Lake in Michigan. I met them both there to try to find it. The husband said he was in about a 75 foot long area along the beach in the water. He said that he didn’t go out farther than 30 feet. He was playing with his kids and crawling on the lake bottom. I figured that I would start at where he could crawl and keep his head above water. In less than five minutes and my first signal, I scooped up his ring.They were both happy to have it back and it made my day to get it back to him.

Wedding Ring Lost During a Water Ballon Fight-Found

Chris contacted me on Sunday morning and said his wife had lost her ring in the front yard while throwing water ballons on the 4th. He showed me the area they were at so I started there. I was fairly certain that early on in the conversation he said it was white gold, so I was mainly concentrating on shallow low signals. But, after around 30 minutes I got a very strong 72 on the Manticore with the telltale double beep that said it was very shallow or on the surface. A 72 is definately not white gold, but a silver or copper tone, and of course I investigated to see what it would be. It was the lost ring, and after looking at it I saw a 925 inside the band. So it was silver and not white gold. His wife was estatic and said she went to sleep crying the night before. In my book they are newlyweds, only 6 months in. A successful recovery!

Wedding Band Lost While Preparing Raised Plant Bed-Found!

Nick contacted me and said that his wife had lost her wedding band while preparing a raised plant bed, but she wasn’t sure which one. He and his wife has a matching tungsten carbide band set. The first bed I checked had a good signal, but it turned out to be a larger deep signal. The second bed was larger in size, but all of them had galvanized metal sheeting for the side walls. That was a problem, but I managed to work around it. In the second bed I found a signal that was showing a 30 on the Manticore, but was close to the metal side wall so that number may have been skewed. That 30 on the Manticore turned out to be her ring. It was about four inches deep. The total seach time was only about twelve minutes.

They had been enjoying a beautiful day at the beach, and at one point Teanna had placed her engagement ring in the cup holder of their beach chair for safekeeping. Later in the day, they decided to move closer to the water. Their son grabbed the chair and dragged it down the beach, not realizing the ring was still sitting in the cup holder.
A short time later, they suddenly remembered the ring. They checked the cup holder, but it was empty.
Dean searched for help online, found my contact information, and gave me a call. I told him I could be there within the hour. He was relieved because Teanna, who was nine months pregnant, was understandably very upset, especially on such a blistering hot day.
When I arrived, Dean met me on the beach and showed me where they had originally been sitting. I carefully searched the entire area but came up empty. He then explained how the chair had been dragged down the beach and showed me the exact path. I searched back and forth from the original spot all the way to the waterline, but still no ring.
At that point I knew something wasn’t adding up.
I returned to the original area and expanded my search pattern, thinking maybe the ring had bounced farther than expected. Still nothing. I headed back toward the water and continued searching the chair’s path. About two passes later, I got a beautiful signal that I was almost certain was Teanna’s engagement ring.
Sure enough, there it was—resting safely in my scoop.
The relief on Dean and Teanna’s faces was immediate. They were incredibly grateful to have the ring back, and knowing that such an important piece of jewelry would stay with their growing family made the recovery even more rewarding.

I got a call from Lauren, who was noticeably upset because she had just lost her wedding set in the ocean. I told her to try to stay calm, that I would head out immediately, and asked her to mark the location on Google Maps using her cell phone so we could pinpoint the area as accurately as possible.
