Lost 22k Gold Wedding Band in Park Scarborough, Toronto, ON

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Raheela was exercising in a (Scarborough) City of Toronto park. After running around she sat down by the goal post and her 22k yellow gold wedding band fell out of her pocket into the grass.

They searched the area but could not locate the wedding band.

I met Raheela after work and grid searched the area she felt the ring had dropped.

I then noticed and mentioned to her it appears the grass had been cut. I then extended the grid search and found her beloved wedding band!

Here’s the video and nice surprise;

Raheela and her Husband were very happy for its return!

14k Gold Wedding Band Lost in a Snowy Toronto Backyard

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Craig and his Husband Alex were preparing for the upcoming festive Christmas season.

Craig was busy in the backyard trimming some evergreens and trimming this years Christmas tree. An hour went by and after sitting at his computer he realized his 4 month old wedding band was missing.

Craig figured his wedding band must have come off his finger in the backyard prepping the Christmas tree. He googled metal detectors and The Ring Finders directory popped up.

Ring Finder member Paul wasn’t available so I sprung into action.

I started grid searching the backyard and figured that with the weight of Alex’s matching wedding band I had to search the entire back yard due to trajectory.

Thank goodness I expanded the search because the ring was in the very back of the yard hiding in behind a small Buddha statue!

Check out the video and Craig’s reaction!

Craig and Alex are extremely happy and I thank them for the wonderful dinner and the generous donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation. Craig also receives a tax receipt!

Cartier 18k Gold and Diamond Wedding band lost in backyard in downtown Toronto, Ontario

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Received a text from Marc to say his Wife Mona lost her wedding band in their backyard in downtown Toronto.

Mona was throwing out her coffee press grinds in the backyard and put her left hand in to clear the remaining grinds.

Unfortunately, Mona’s gold replacement wedding band flew off her finger. She heard a ping and concluded the ring landed somewhere in the leaves.

The registered Toronto ring finder was not available and I was happy to fill in.

Mona and Marc had recently viewed the Toronto CityTV news segment by Audra Brown on TheRingFinders and felt they had hope!

When I arrived, I took my gear into the backyard and while entering the backyard, low and behold I spotted the gold wedding ring immediately laying flat between the black stones!

I proceeded to do the interview then immediately surprise Mona with her beautiful Cartier 18k gold Love Ring! It was priceless! My record to recover a ring was 14 seconds! Not sure how I’ll beat this record!

Check out the video of the ring recovery;

Thank you so very much Mona and Marc for your very generous donation the the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation!

Lost platinum wedding band in snow in Toronto, ON

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

I received a phone call from David in downtown Toronto. His Wife Sonya was removing their 2 year old toddler from a stroller. She brushed off the stroller and thought she felt her platinum wedding band fly off into the snow.

After David and Sonya searched for an hour or so then David reached out to me to see if I could help. I advised there were two other metal detectorists registered with “The Ring Finders” directory in Toronto which were much closer than I. I provided some search tips and advised if they weren’t available I could pop down after work the following day as I had a visitor. My visitor was called into work and left immediately. I then called David back to make myself available if the other Ring Finders were not available as I know the misery it would cause and probably a sleepless night ahead for both of them. They took me up on my offer and I left immediately.

I was happy that the crazy Toronto QEW traffic was light and that I had no issues! Toronto traffic can be insane at the best of time non-stop bumper to bumper!

I arrived an hour later and proceeded to the backyard. I could see the backyard was entirely concrete under the snow fully knowing rebar and old metal bits would be and issue. Here I was thinking another ‘quickie’………NOT!!

After 10-15 minutes with the big coil and putting my pin pointer through a workout… I changed out my coil to the small 10” x 5” CoilTek Coil and turned down the sensitivity …. I then re-gridded the area and decided to go towards the pathway into the backyard and BOOM A SOLID 12 on the Equinox and tone was perfect! Even thought David’s platinum wedding band was the same it rang up a 15/16 on my machine!

First I surprised David…. then David went along with me to ask Sonya “another question” bringing her back outside and of course she was happily surprised!

David and Sonya were so thankful for my help and I was grateful for their immediate generous donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation! I’m sure if they called one of the other two RingFinders this precious sentimental wedding band would have definitely been recovered either way!!

Thank you David & Sonya!

M-I-A POOL LIGHTING DECK BOX FOUND ETOBICOKE, ON

I received a message from Anita in Etobicoke! Her pool guys we’re investigating a defective or faulted feed to an underwater light in the spa with continued breaker tripping.
The pool guys moved a large boulder but were unable to locate the deck box. Since the deck box had a metal lid, it was suggested to obtain a metal detector.
Anita reached out to the ‘Toronto Metal Detecting’ Facebook Group where I was recommended as a contact that could assist!
As a former salt water pool owner I understood how the construction of my pool went! We were able to locate the lid in 5-10 minutes under a piece of rock on the side of the spa!!!

Check out the video;

Another happy client and another charitable donation coming into the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation in which Anita will be receiving a tax donation receipt!! Thank you Anita!
I love using my passion for metal/scuba dive detecting to help others and paying-it-forward raising charity donations!!

University of Toronto Master of Laws Graduate loses Family Heirloom Gold ring

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

I received a phone call from Jessica who was heartbroken as she lost a very sentimental Family heirloom pure gold ring that was made in Shanghai. Jessica graduated from the University of Toronto with a Master of Laws degree just two weeks ago! She wore her ring for her graduate photos. The wind caught Jessica’s graduation cap. Jessica quickly reached for the cap and felt her loose ring fly off her hand. The Family searched the area for some time with no luck. Even some of the University staff helped to look for her ring.

Jessica then obtained permission from the University of Toronto staff to allow a metal detectorist from ‘The Ring Finders’ directory to assist! I alway respect private property and am grateful to be granted permission to detect and help recover Jessica’s special ring! I would love to have permission to go back to recover & donate all the lost relics/history still in the ground! Saving history from generations ago! Who knows, there could be more lost U of T alumni rings!

I had many memories flooding back just driving down to the location! I even shed a few tears. You see, my late Father WO George Walker worked for Toronto Hydro for 40 years! As well, my Father was a well know bagpiper for the 48th Highlanders of Canada for over 50 years! He piped many weddings at Hart House and well as graduations ceremonies at the University of Toronto and York University! Happy proud tears for sure!

Check out the video of the ring return surprise! Great deal of thanks also to the Campus Police Officer Matthew for going along with the prank surprise as Jessica had left the location for a quick coffee!

This unique pure gold ring is not like any normal ring as it is a wrap-around ring with no connecting loop! Jesica and I thought the ring was 14k but it turns out the inside symbols represents the makers mark, a karat stamp referring to 99 pure gold and the number 14 which refers to ring size 14! Who knew!

Thank you Jessica for your generous donation to the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation and entrusting me to help recover and return your priceless Family Heirloom graduation gift from your beloved Grandmother!! Happy, healthy, bright and safe future ahead and many years to come!!

LOST HEARING AID IN WOODSY BACKYARD! Toronto, ON

  • from Brampton (Ontario, Canada)

Toronto, Ontario Canada

A lovely Lady named Dori was in her backyard cleaning up her gardens and yard. She felt as though a big bug had landed on her shoulder and she flicked it away. Turns out it was her hearing aid!! The hearing aid was $3,000 !!!
A number of Friends were over and all were on their hands & knees with chop sticks going throught the gardens/mulch for hours.
Her Son had suggested to call someone with a metal detector! THE RING FINDERS came up. She called Steve Zazulyk but he was unavailable and recommended to call me!
I made arrangements to attend that evening. After I arrived we had discussed what had happened! Luckily they put tarps down due to the severe thunderstorms moving in!! We had slightly lifted the first tarp when I spotted her hearing aid. I put my side of the tarp down and asked if we could do a short video for my blog and for good luck. Dori had no idea I had spotted it!
