Ring lost in San Diego Bay found

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

Scott was kayaking back in August, and while paddling close to shore, his dog decided to jump out of his kayak and into the water. In the process of getting his dog back inside, Scott’s wedding ring came off and into the drink. He tried to find it, but, with a mucky bottom and poor visibility, we know how that ended. He and his wife Caitlin found me online and asked for help. We met at the site during a minus low tide at 11:30pm. Even though it was a small area to search, there was tons of metal junk and some deep silt/mud at that spot in the bay. Try as I might, I couldn’t come up with it after an extensive search. They thanked me for trying and I told them that I would keep it on my list and would try again whenever I was in the area. My next opportunity came about a month later at another minus low tide at night. Again, I found all sorts of junk, but, no ring. I was thinking it might be in deeper water, but, in walking out deeper, you would sink up to your knees in mud. Not going to be possible to search out there. Fast forward to November and another opportunity to hit the area during a daytime low tide. Went back over the same area and found tons more junk targets, but, after a half hour or so, success!, Scott’s wedding ring came up from a foot deep and into my scoop. A text later to an incredulous Scott and Caitlin where I found that they would be visiting again in town around Christmas. They asked me to hold on to it until then which I gladly agreed to. They came by the day after Christmas and picked up the ring. A pleasure to meet you both and thank you for the reward.

Snow Swallows A Ring In Calgary

  • from Cochrane (Alberta, Canada)

While walking the dog after our first significant snowfall of the year, he slipped and his ring disappeared. Three hours of unsuccessful searching resulted in nothing. Then he found me. The biggest concern was the large water drainage grate right where it happened. It could have gone down.

Cell phones in the Snow. Easy to lose, easy to find

  • from Cochrane (Alberta, Canada)

Had a call from the father of a young man that had, in anger, thrown his phone out the car window. He spent six hours looking for it. No luck.  Before they called me, it snowed making it nearly impossible to find… unless you have a metal detector.  Using the Find Me app on their phone, they narrowed down the search area. When I arrived, it was only a matter of minutes.

LOST 14k WHITE GOLD RING IN NEBO, NC…..FOUND!

  • from Raleigh (North Carolina, United States)

Got a call this morning from a lady that had lost her 14k gold ring with some heirloom diamonds/sapphires that she had specially made. She lost it in Lake James near Charolette, NC. 3.5 hr drive (one way)

She lost it off a dock at a friends house. She was stepping down to get into her kayak when she grabbed the wire/cable of the ramp to the boat dock. As she grabbed it the cable caught the ring (it has a cut out in it) and pulled it off of her finger. She thought it had fallen straight down and bounced off her kayak on the right hand side of the ramp. After almost 5 hours of searching the right side I expanded and moved to the left side. After about 30 more mins I found her ring! It was a very choppy signal on the AT MAX I think because of the cut in the ring and the clay in the lake.

But I didn’t give up! She knew it was there and I wasn’t giving up until I found it. 5.5 hours later it was found and back on her finger where it belonged!

I managed to surprise her with the return too! Love making folks happy again when I find something they feared was lost forever.

LOST GOLD WEDDING RING SET IN RALEIGH, NC…… FOUND

  • from Raleigh (North Carolina, United States)

Got a call from a gentleman that found me online. His wife had lost both of her wedding rings while taking pine straw from some bushes, dropping it as she worked in the cold weather.

At some point both of her rings slipped off her finger and into the pine straw/leaves and they couldn’t find them!

After arriving I found out it was two rings when I thought it was just one ring. About 30 mins later she had both rings back where they belonged!!

These are truly moments I live for!!

Retirement Ring Lost While Smashing Pumpkins… FOUND in Brentwood, Tennessee!

  • from Huntsville (Alabama, United States)

Christina McCree – Ring Finder/Metal Detectorist for northern Alabama and southern/middle Tennessee…call or text ASAP, anytime 24/7…610-504-6135

On Thursday afternoon, December 7th, 2023, I received a call from Joe stating he had lost his large 14K yellow gold and diamond retirement ring he had custom designed 14 years ago.  The ring has an intricate design of a prized elk Joe had gotten while on a hunting trip in Canada.  The ring is one of a kind and very sentimental.  Joe thought it came off while he was smashing and throwing pumpkins out in his backyard to feed deer.  Joe lives in Brentwood, Tennessee, which is about an hour and a half drive from where I live in Huntsville, Alabama.  I don’t mind driving and actually enjoy making these trips, but the search would have to wait until Saturday since I had to work at my regular day job on Friday.  I told Joe that the ring wouldn’t go anywhere since it was on his private property.

I made the drive to Brentwood, TN early Saturday morning.  We had the threat of severe weather in the afternoon, so I wanted to beat the storms.  Before my trip, I prayed for safe travels, good weather, and a successful ring recovery.  I met Joe and his wife, Lesly, at their home around 8:30 AM.  Joe and I walked out to his backyard.  He showed me how he would smash small to medium sized pumpkins by throwing them very hard at tree roots on the ground to break up the pumpkins, and then throw the pieces in the woods/field for the deer to eat.  He didn’t feel or see the ring come off, but thought this would be the most likely chance when it did.  I had Joe re-enact the throws with the test ring I brought.  Both Joe and I thought the ring came off on the smashing action, so I started in that area.

I had my Minelab Equinox 900 with the 15-inch coil for this search due to the large area to cover.  I started my grid search and was pleasantly surprised at how quiet the ground was (little to no trash).  This would help speed up the search.  Joe hung around for a few minutes to see how it was going, but then headed off to wash his truck.

There were a few good sounding shallow signals that I checked along the way, but no ring so far.  About 20 minutes into the search and I had a loud tone.  I swung my metal detector to the side and saw that beautiful gold rim gleaming back up at me.  It was Joe’s ring!!!  I took off my gloves, powered off my detector and set it on the ground.  I didn’t touch the ring, because I wanted Joe to see how it looked—just slightly covered with a leaf.

I turned around and saw that Joe was busy washing his truck.  Lesly was on the porch watching me.  I gave her a big smile and two thumbs up.  She yelled, “you found it!?”  I said, “got it!”  Joe heard this and just about lost his mind (in a good way lol).  He ran over and gave me the biggest hug, thanked me profusely, and told me he loved me lol!  It’s really hard to put into words the reaction us Ring Finders get when we find and return someone’s very sentimental ring or item.  I can say that it’s one of the best feelings in the world and truly feels like my purpose in life.  I give all glory to God and thank Him for all these amazing adventures I get to go on and the people I get to meet.

Joe and I took some pictures and headed in the house.  I talked with Joe and Lesly for over an hour.  I really enjoyed our conversation and thank them for their hospitality.  We said our goodbyes and I was on my way back to Huntsville.  Looking forward to the next adventure…

Lost Wedding Ring found Saratoga Springs, NY

  • from Saratoga Springs (New York, United States)
Contact:

I received a call from Jimmy who had lost his wedding ring at dusk while walking the dog in his backyard.  I arrived at his house the next day. He said he had searched all over for it but was unable to find it. After asking him multiple questions, he lead me to the area where he thought he lost it. I thought that this would be fairly easy as it had to be on top and he owned a new modern house, but after listening to the ground for a few minutes I knew that something was not right as there were hundreds of  signals…all in the gold range. He revealed to me that there used to be a mechanic shop of some kind right there.  Suddenly things were not so easy. I combed the area for over an hour closely watching the depth meter.  I was beginning to really wonder if I could find this ring, but I had told him I would not give up.  Finally I got the shallow signal I was waiting for.   I combed through the grass with my hands, and there it was already settling into the roots, completely invisible to the eye.  Jimmy was thrilled as was I. What a relief!  A happy ending all round.

Diamond Engagement Ring Lost, Recovered and Returned in Philadelphia, PA!!!

  • from Philadelphia (Pennsylvania, United States)

Liana texted me late on the Friday after Thanksgiving seeking help to find her lost diamond engagement ring. I immediately called her and she told me she had been raking and bagging leaves in her backyard when her ring came up  missing…she thought it probably fell off while raking or bagging the leaves. We made arrangements to meet the following morning at her home in Conshohocken, PA. When I arrived the next  day I sensed Liana’s stress…they had spent many hours dumping and re-bagging all the the leaves in search of the ring already and even purchased a metal detector to try to find themselves. After no luck they read a suggestion online that they could hire a professional…hence the call to me. Liana, her husband and neighbors were all involved in the search…a very nice crew of people! I really wanted to come through for them. Since she said she already dumped and searched and re-bagged the 15 bags of leaves it made sense to scan the small yard first. I scanned the entire yard fully 3 times before I decided the ring is absolutely not there. I was little disheartened because the only thing left were the bagged leaves but they said they thoroughly searched them already.  We decided we needed to dump them again…one at a time…and now I’ll scan all the contents with my Minelab Equinox metal detector….well, we were on bag #7 or 8…when I couldn’t help but smile…I finally got the signal I was hoping for…I nudged the leave pile a bit with my foot and saw the ring! The group was busy re-bagging leaves and didn’t see my hesitation and smile…i savored the moment for a second…then asked Liana to come over…I pointed to her ring in the middle of the leaf pile…oh the joy and relief on her face! Its why I love being a ring finder….I was so happy to be able to come through for them!

Glasses recovered SCUBA diving, EZ Cruz Marina, Woodbridge VA by Rob Ellis

I am an expert metal detectorist with the knowledge, skill, and experience to recover your lost items on land and underwater. Please text or call as soon as possible: (703) 598-1435

Recovered By Master SCUBA Instructor Rob Ellis

Found May 16th, 2023

Erik was enjoying the day at EZ Cruz Marina, when a gust of wind took his hat and prescription glasses. With help from his friends, Erik tried using a long-handled net to scoop the glasses. Visibility, rocks, and depth made netting his glasses impossible. Sharon, the manager from EZ-Cruz marina, remembered that I recovered a ring last year and gave Erik my contact information.

A weighted Drop Line for Reference

When Erik called, he told me exactly how and where the glasses entered the water. He even sent me photos with drawings.

Gear Preparation

My divemaster (AKA: my wonderful wife) and I checked in with the marina office. We assessed the conditions and finalized how to conduct the search. We dropped a weighted “down line” from the dock to mark the center of the search area where the glasses fell into the water. The easiest entry was from the shore, with a hundred-yard swim. We attached a safety rope after reviewing tender-diver signals.

Most dock bottoms have a lot of metal debris, so I tethered the detector at the surface for my first search by gentle touch and use of a Garrett Pinpointer.

As I descended into the murky water, I lost all visibility at about 5 feet. I hit bottom at about twelve feet, and it was dark, very dark. Even my flashlight wouldn’t penetrate the murky water. I very carefully used my fingertips and pinpointer with a search pattern using the drop line as a reference. Within just a few minutes, I felt a pair glasses and carefully put them in my bag. There are always a lot of sunglasses around docks, and I wasn’t sure these were Erik’s. I ascended, gave the bag to my wife who compared them to a picture Erik had provided. She told me they were the right ones by signaling me the OK sign.

We were so glad to return Erik’s glasses. The actual search by touch took less than ten minutes. But the preparation, planning for the search & recovery, and clean-up took several hours. It was worth it to return such a nice young man’s glasses.
