NEW YEARS DAY ..Jan.1, 2014

It’s a beautiful sunny first day of 2014 and I received a call from Hamilton at 9 am. He lost his wedding ring yesterday while playing volleyball at the beach. Some of Hamilton’s friends searched through the sand for a couple hours with no success. Later that night his wife, Karen got on the computer to try to purchase or rent a metal detector when she located TheRingFinders.com and my contact information.
After setting up a meeting location, I grabed another cup of coffee to drive 24 miles down senic Pacific Coast Hwy.
When I met Hamilton he told me the rest of the story. He had lost his original wedding ring 6 months ago and his wife had bought him a new ring and given it to him for Christmas. He had only had it on for less than a week before losing the new one. Normally Hamilton said he would have taken it off when doing any kind of sport activity, but he was proud to be wearing his new ring. He is in the military and will be leaving in 4 days for 6 months of duty out of the country.
We got to the volley ball court and I asked him what type of material the ring was made of which turned out to be important. It was Silver and Gold and it came up as an unusual reading of 1-46 on my Minelab CTX 3030 detector. It’s easy to get lazy and listen for a low tone or a gold/silver/tunsten ID number, but mixed metals give odd readings on the newer detectors. The ring was found after 5 minutes of searching and less than 2 hours after receiving the call.
New years eve was probably a downer for them, but it was a privilege to help them start the new year by finding his wedding ring.
The smile on Hamilton’s and Karen’s face was one more for me to remember. It was certainly a special way to start off a new year for me too.

Custom wedding band recoved from Dever area school grounds

  • from Denver (Colorado, United States)

On December 29, 2013 Ryan Law was out playing with his dogs at a school football field that was near his house. During this play session his beloved custom made white gold wedding band had gone missing. The ring is a tad large and had become even looser by the cool temperatures that afternoon. Ryan spent the rest of the afternoon searching for his ring with no success. He called me that evening and we arranged for me to come and search for his ring on the afternoon of New Year’s Eve.

I arrived for my search and Ryan and I went over the events of the rings loss and he showed me the areas that he and his dogs were in that day. I began my grid search of the area closed to the gate that we came through to get into the sports field. For being the last day of the year of the year the weather was unusually warm but after just over 2 hours of searching I had not recovered Ryan’s ring. Ryan needed to go to work so I told him I would be back the following day to continue the search.

New Year’s Day morning we were receiving a rain/snow mix so my search had to wait till afternoon. I drove to the school grounds and started my search of the area that had yet to be searched. After an hour and a half or so the ring was recovered by eyeballing it on the cinder running track that surrounded the football field. I called Ryan to let him know I had the ring but he was out of town. Just as I got to my car to put my gear away the snow started to come down, good timing.

Ryan ended up coming to my house that evening to claim his ring. He and his wife were quite happy to get his ring back.

T searched the area w here she thought it had gone. Nothing. Lots of people had tried to find it unsuccessfully. I used my standard CTX coil. Nothing. I switched to my smaller coil and went close to a car parked on the corner. BINGO! The car had blocked signal to my standard coil.

Gold bracelet found for owner in Glenview, IL

  • from Las Vegas (Nevada, United States)
Contact:

While shoveling snow the owner lost 1/2 of his gold bracelet. This bracelet came unscrewed and fell off. His wife has the same bracelet.

The owner rented a detector but was unable to find it. I was the last resort. He had given up hope of finding it. I came out and searched in the late afternoon…nothing! I told him I would come back the next day. I took readings of the one part. They were all over the place!  Depending if the item was flat or on its side. No consistent read or sound.

I searched with all three coils and gridded the area several times. Because of the metal edging of the walkway I suggested that we use salt or water to melt the snow around the metal edging.

BINGO!!

Took two try’s but I found it..imageimage

I received a call today from Ryan and Jess regarding Ryan’s lost wedding ring.

Ryan and Jess reported Ryan was playing football in the front yard with family when

his ring flew off of his finger.

Ryan mentioned his wife Jess was not happy :), but after speaking to her she

insisted Ryan would be sleeping in-doors tonight regardless of the out-come.

Ryan reported one of his family members had located www.theringfinders.com after

his failed attempts at finding his ring.

I think you can tell from the smiles, today was a good day

I was happy very happy for Ryan and Jess, you could see the relief and happiness

in both of them when the ring was recovered.

imageimagePerhaps this ring looks familiar! It should . I posted it about july 12th 2012 when I first found it in the garden for a customer. Well, today I received another call from the same customer. This time the ring came off while hanging Christmas lights. Ironically, it was found about 3 feet away from where I found it last year!
Maybe I should consider a package discount. 😉

Lost Texas A&M Class Ring Woodlands, Texas (Recovered)

  • from Sugar Land (Texas, United States)

12/04/2013

Hi John,

I work for The Woodlands Township in The Woodlands and I supervise the
boathouse next to the woodlands mall. Today at work, my worst nightmare
happened. I went to shake someone’s hand and they pulled my ring off and it
bounced off the dock into the lake. It is about 4.5 to 5 ft deep where it fell
in and it is in probably a 5 by 5 ft area next to the dock.

I found you online at www.theringfinders.com when I was looking for metal

detector rentals. Is there ANY way you can help me with this. My ring is/was easily

my most prized possession.

Please, if you get a chance I would love to hear back from you with any help
you might be able to offer me.

Thanks in advance,

Kyle

I met Kyle this morning at the Woodlands Boat House and  Kyle gave me a first hand

account of how the ring was lost and where he believed it landed in the water.

The job appeared easy from the top side, I was thinking, I’ll jump in this tropical warm

blue water, grab the ring and job complete.

Well the water wasn’t tropical or warm and the bottom of the dock was concrete with

apparently a lot of re-enforced re-bar. I found the ring, lots of luck on this job. I was

thinking to myself, Kyle you just witnessed an early Christmas Miracle 🙂

I was really happy for him, It was clear from the beginning the Ring was very important to him.

Ring lost in La Jolla Found

  • from La Jolla (California, United States)

This is another long distance find. Portia called me and said her husband Chris probably lost his wedding ring at a beach resort in La Jolla. The location was on private property so they had to arrange for me to do a search there. They were visiting from Colorado and had already returned home when they contacted me so they couldn’t show me the location in person but they were able to e-mail me a map with the likely area noted. So with my trusty « treasure » map and a contact name at the resort, I headed down the the beach with my E-trac. After meeting the resort person and telling him my plan, I headed over to the search area and started a grid pattern. Since I was searching for a stainless ring, I didn’t leave anything to chance on signals…..and there were a ton of them! I dug everything that made a repeatable sound. Seems nobody has detected that area for quite some time as there were target everywhere! After about an hour or so, moving a few beach chairs,  and over 40 targets, I got another one that didn’t fit any common target I.D. Success! It matched the description so my day was done. I gave them the fun call and made arrangements to mail the ring to them. It’s up to the USPS to finish the reunion now! Thanks for calling me and hopefully when you vistit here again, we’ll get a chance to meet.
