Engagement Ring Lost On Kure Beach, NC Found With Metal Detector

Bailey was spending a fun evening on Kure Beach with her family.  Bailey is also planning a September wedding.  She was asked to perform a cartwheel in the sand.  Before the attempt, she gave her engagement ring to her younger sister for safe keeping.   During the excitement and festivities, the ring slipped off of little sister’s hand into the sand.  Both sisters were very upset.  The following morning I get a call from Bailey’s father.  He explained what had happened and plans were made to meet just afternoon.   When I pulled the first target, a red can top, Dad yelled that I had found it!  I think that helped ease the stress levels.  Unfortunately, my 2nd target a silver can top gave Bailey false hopes it was her ring.   The 3rd target was the one we all had hope to recover!   The excitement & tears made the 2 hour drive to their location all worth while!

Gold graduation gift found in football fiend in Downers Grove, Il

Got a call last night, a Med Student lost a graduation gift from his grandmother.
Gift was give to him 20 years ago and his grandmother passed away a few weeks ago so this search had a lot of meaning.
He lost it while playing football on the campus field in Downers grove, Il.
My long range locator got me within 10 feet of the target and the Minelab Equinox did the rest.
He was one happy camper and the satisfaction of hitting it for him can’t be described.

Lost Diamond Engagement Ring, Lake Pelham, Culpeper, Virginia…FOUND!

July 21, 2020: On Sunday, Maria was enjoying the Pelham Lake Park gazebo with her friends and family. She briefly removed her ring and it accidently dropped, bouncing off the table, falling in between the deck boards into the water. Maria attempted to find the ring but realized the depth and mud made it impossible to find without a detectorist’s help. She called me and we set up a time to search.

Every search is unique, and this one was no exception. The lake around and under the gazebo is about 4 feet deep. The mud was about 1 ½ feet deep. I worked my way from the shore and stooped under the gazebo. The first detector did not work well in the mud. I made the trip back to my car and got my Excalibur. After an hour of laboring through fishing lures, bits of trash, and construction materials, I finally heard that lovely tone.

It was such a pleasure to meet Maria and the other lovely ladies. Their unabashed delight at seeing the ring made me so happy!

I  just joined « The Ring Finders » on 7/17. I received my first call to help find a lost wedding ring, from Justin from Fuquay Varina on 7/19 Sunday night, around 9:30 pm. Justin had lost it around 3:00 pm that day while out with his family. He was bringing in the rope that tied up to a tree to get ready to leave and head back home when he felt it slide off into the water. He got his family home and searched online for help with finding his ring. He came across « The Ring Finders » page and found my new profile on the page and gave me a call.

We spoke on the phone and went out that very night to attempt to find it. I met him at his house, we headed out to the spot and hunted for it from 10:00 pm until about 2:00 am. Sadly, I wasn’t successful. Two days later I get a text that was headed back out and asked if I wanted to join him. I jumped in the truck and met him at the site. We headed out and I again hunted from about 10:00 pm to about 3:00 am. Again, I wasn’t successful.

Went back home, got an hour and a half sleep. Then got up at 4:30 a buddy came and picked me up with is boat and we went back to the site. Got to the spot by 6:00 am and I found the ring in the very spot where he had been parking his boat and the rear/motor end was near or had been near that spot the first two times out.

I went back home and got cleaned up and went to his house to bring him back his wedding ring. Justin and his son Braden were happy to see it back where it belonged.

Lost Ring Annapolis, Maryland…Found!

Nick was helping passengers disembark from a tour boat onto the dock when a child fell into the water. He immediately provided assistance, pulling the boy from the water. After the adrenaline subsided from the rescue, Nick realized his beautiful diamond wedding ring was missing. He had another diver look for the ring for several hours that night, but the diver was unable to find it.

Nick called me the next morning and we were able to search that afternoon. Even though Nick was up most of the night with the other diver, he was alert and very detailed in his description of the incident. After meeting and getting the marina manager’s support for my search from Ralph, I prepared for the search. The marina staff and the boat owners we met were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The marina certainly lives up to its slogan as the “finest and friendliest marina in Annapolis”.

The water along the dock is brackish tidal. That day it was twelve feet deep and I could not see a thing. I used a circular search pattern and slowly combed the area. With the noise of all the holiday weekend boats in the water and zero visibility, it was disorienting. I was glad to be tethered to my divemaster (Mrs.E) on the surface. There was the usual trash to be expected around any dock. After about 45 minutes, I heard a target and could feel the shape of the ring. We were so happy to return the ring to Nick!

 

I am a detectorist with over 35 years’ experience in detecting on both dry land and under water. As a skilled underwater search and recovery specialist, I am often called to search after inexperienced divers attempted to recover the lost object. Underwater searches require unique techniques and equipment. At a minimum, an underwater detectorist should hold Advanced Diver or Master SCUBA Diver certifications. I also recommend they be certified in Underwater Metal Detecting, and Search & Recovery. As a Master SCUBA Instructor, I designed and taught the first specialty certification course for underwater metal detecting. I have professional certifications to teach SCUBA divers in 4 internationally recognized certification agencies and thousands of hours of underwater experience. Lost wedding ring Lake Ontario Park Kingston Ontario

Received an email from Andre yesterday, inquiring about me coming out to look for his lost wedding ring. Andre and his wife were at a rocky shoreline, at Lake Ontario Park in Kingston, where he went for a swim and lost his Wedding band in about waist deep water. Headed to meet him to see if we could find it for him.

Having looked at the forecast previously, and Mother Nature being on our side with keeping the winds fairly calm, I was able to get in the water and start looking for the ring. Conditions were challenging as the bottom was covered with large boulders, rocks and waves tossing me around back and forth. However, after 45 minutes of perseverance, was able to reunite Andre with his wedding ring. Really glad I could find it for him and especially since his second wedding anniversary is coming up in a couple of weeks. Life is good.

White gold wedding band recovered from Little Ossipee Lake in Waterboro, Maine.

Alyssa contacted me to search for her husband Jordan’s wedding band which was dropped from a swimming dock in 6 feet of water at her parents lake side home. This had seemed like a pretty simple recovery, however in addition to the lake bottom being a bed of very tall grass the layer of loose silt was about 12 inches in places. The search took about 8 hours over two days, but ended with a successful recovery and another great photo for the book of smiles. With the birth of their first child expected this week, a portion of their generous reward will be directed to a local diaper bank to help ease the burden other parents are facing.

On Saturday, Esmeralda and Rey were playing with friends in the water. When Esmeralda reached to catch a ball, her beautiful 10th anniversary diamond ring flew off her finger. They searched for hours to no avail. The next morning, Esmeralda emailed me for help.

Metal detecting for artifacts in the area is unlawful. So, I contacted the Stafford County Government to get permission for the search. Even though it was Sunday, I was able to reach Brett. He was very understanding and told me it was no problem as long as I was only looking for the ring.

I met Rey at the beach and he showed me where they thought the ring landed. The water was about waist deep and there were many families enjoying the shallows. Since the spot was crowded, it took more time than anticipated. I forgot all that when I found the ring in the scoop. I am so happy to have helped a couple of patriots like Rey and Esmeralda!!!

I was happy to retrieve trash during my search. As you can see in the photo, I removed jagged metal and glass just waiting to cut some unsuspecting swimmer’s foot.

Sentimental Ring Accidentally Lost On Emerald Isle’s Bogue Inlet Pier Beach, Found

Miranda was spending the day enjoying the North Carolina sun and removed her ring before going for a dip into the Atlantic Ocean. It wasn’t until after they had left she realized the ring was lost. When she returned to search, someone told her there was a detectorist hunting the same area she had set up earlier. After an online search she messaged me and asked if I was the one on the beach earlier that day. Neither I or some my nearby friends who detect had hunted that area. I then proceeded to Bogue Inlet Pier to conduct a night hunt. Because of a misunderstanding of location the hunt took me almost 3 hours before I found the ring! It was a huge relief for the both of us as it was very hot even at 2:00 am and I was hunting the soft dry sand. I returned the ring to her later that afternoon!

West Virginia Woman’s Wedding Ring Set Lost At Emerald Isle, NC Found

 Rhonda and her friends were having a Girls Getaway week at Emerald Isle, NC.  The young women were soaking their toes along the coastline and moving their chairs back with the incoming tides.  Trying to be safe, the rings were placed in a zipper pouch before heading into the water.  It wasn’t long after that the pouch had a hole in the bottom and the rings slipped away into the surf.  Ashlee, a friend in the group, found my metal detecting service and gave me a call.  After I heard the description, and knew the tide was now receding, I decided to give it a try.  Upon arrival, the beach had a steep slope leading down into some powerful waves.  I did my best to cover the area and was tossed off balance more than once.  After not finding the rings, I told the party I will return about 1 hour before low tide and try again.  Trying once again at this time period was very beneficial.  With some directional help from the girls, I walked straight down towards the waterline and found both rings in the wet sand and within 5 minutes of each other!  I know more than one of them thought the rings were gone forever!

This job has a very unique way of turning frowns upside down!  A true memory all girls will now have to share in a joyful way!
