Lost Platinum Engagement Ring Found in Corn Pit in Wooster, Ohio!

  • from Wooster (Ohio, United States)

Halloween high jinks were in full swing this past weekend in Wooster, Ohio! Kim was enjoying an unseasonably warm fall day with her family at Ramseyer Farms. The day was full of fun and treats, but Kim ended up being on the receiving end of a trick! The culprit? Corn! That’s right, not a person, it was corn…and lots of it! Kim was playing with her 2-year-old daughter in the Corn Barn (a giant corn pit, in a barn) when it happened. (For those who don’t know, a corn pit is like a sand box, except it’s filled with corn kernels!) Anyway, she was crawling through the corn towards her daughter when she felt that unmistakable feeling of a ring slipping off her finger! She immediately started foraging through the corn, but couldn’t find her platinum engagement ring! She continued searching for a while and her dad even went and purchased a metal detector to aid in the search! After a while she decided to search the internet where she found The Ringfinder’s website, which led her to me. I received the call at 5:13 pm yesterday evening. Kim explained what had happened and asked if I would be able to come out and assist. She said the staff at Ramseyer Farms was aware of the situation and that they would keep the lights on and the barn open after hours to allow us to search. The farm was closing at 7pm, so Tammy (my metal detecting partner) and I arrived at the farm around 6:50 pm and met Kim at the main entrance. We made our way back to the corn barn as she filled us in on a few more details about the event. When we got to the barn, we took off our shoes and followed Kim into the corn. She told us about where she was and what direction she was heading when she lost her ring and we got to work! We started out using our pinpointers in the general area she had been and then I decided to do a little bit bigger sweep with my detector just in case it was no longer in the same spot, as the corn barn is a huge attraction at Ramseyer Farms and, as such, it is always packed with kids scooping, digging, rummaging, running and rolling through the corn! While I swept the area, Tammy kept following Kim’s path through the corn with her pinpointer. About forty-five minutes into the search, Tammy had a hit about 6-8 inches deep in the corn, right along Kim’s path. She slowly started sweeping corn away as she worked her way down, keeping her pinpointer on the signal. And then I heard Kim gasp! She had been watching Tammy and noticed the glint right away as Tammy plucked the ring from the corn! Tammy handed the ring to a super excited Kim, we took a few photos and then we all made our way out of the corn. The staff at Ramseyer Farms was wonderful! They were super friendly and accommodating as we searched and celebrated the find, right along with us! What an adventure! Kim got her ring back, Kim’s dad found a new hobby and we got to play in the corn! All in all, a great evening! We’re so glad we were able to turn Kim’s trick into a treat! Just remember, if you visit a corn pit – don’t forget to take off your jewelry! But, if you do forget and lose something, give us a call!

Lord of the Rings

  • from St. Louis (Missouri, United States)

Jeremy, thank you so much. Backstory: this is a custom wedding band that reflects our shared love of Lord of the Rings trilogy story. We’ve read the books and watched the movies many, many times. I was doing yard work and pulling weeds. I noticed the ring was missing when I went to throw the weeds in the yard waste dumpster. I was searching through the yard waste dumpster, the trash bag I had just taken out, and crawling around the area I was doing yard work for 2 days. That’s when we found your website. You found the ring within 10 minutes or less and were a pleasure to work with. We’d recommend you to anyone who is in need of your services. Thank you!!

Lost White Gold and Diamonds Engagement & Wedding Rings at Ulua Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a text from Cindy who was on vacation from Riverside , California and visiting Oahu.  While at Royal Hawaiian Beach they saw a metal detectorist in the water hunting.  Arturo, Cindy’s husband, approached him in the water and asked if a ring could be found in the water.  They told him that on Tuesday his wife Cindy lost her White Gold and Diamonds Wedding & Engagement Rings at Ulua Lagoon in Ko Olina Resort.  The detectorist ended up being a friend of mine named Mike and he told them to get a hold of me as the resort’s detectorist.  I got the text in church and contacted Cindy after we finished.  She gave me the details and a really good photo of the location lost.  When I got home from church I grabbed my gear and headed out to Ulua Lagoon.  When I got to the area there were many children playing in the water and I had to gingerly manuever around them.  Most actually got out of my way when I told them what I was doing.  There were several targets in the water.  I found a skeleton medallion and a FAITH bracelet.  Then in about thigh deep water I got a nice solid tone and in two scoops there was Cindy’s beautiful Engagement Ring in the scoop.  I marked my spot and started doing circles around the point and about three feet away I got another similar tone and after three scoops there was the Wedding Ring.  I called Arturo & Cindy  and told them of the successful hunt.  They were very appreciative and currently in Waikiki.  I told them we could meet at my home just 10 minutes from where they were. They got to enjoy a Waikiki sunset then came to my home for her ring.  Cindy told me she made peace and actually thought she would never see her ring again.  They were playing « Monkey in the Middle » while throwing a football and when Cindy attempted to catch the football her rings flew off and disappeared into the murky stirred up water.  As you can see in the pic the spirit of Aloha came through.  Aloha to Cindy & Arturo!

Rogue Strong Wave Results In Lost Wedding Rings And Found Later With Determined Effort

  • from Emerald Isle (North Carolina, United States)

Diane messaged me that she was frolicking near their North Topsail beach rental when a large wave came and knocked her over. As her hands plunged into the sandy bottom, her loose wedding rings slipped off. She didn’t realize they were gone until she returned to the beach house. I started my search in the rolling waves just before low tide after asking a few questions. Sadly, the rings remained unfound on this initial try. Diane attempted to show me a photo taken by someone in her group right after her fall, but the glare and my poor vision made it impossible to see on her phone. I requested the photos be sent to me, and upon reviewing them on my laptop, I understood I had been searching too far out; the tides suggested she must have been nearer to the dry sand.

On my second attempt, I spent over two hours conducting a North-South and East-West grid search in the wet sand around low tide. My arms ached from the effort as I expanded the search zone. At last, a bit beyond my previous search area, I discovered the beautiful ring hidden under the wet sand, a spot that would have been submerged most of the time. I called Diane over, and her relief was palpable, especially since they were set to leave the next day and had begun packing.

Gold doesn’t grow on trees, but it sure could hide there! I received a message from a young lady in regards to her husband’s lost ring, we set up an appointment for the next morning to come and look for it. The story was her husband was cleaning his car when he felt the ring come off. He heard the ping of the ring hitting a rock and then  he could not find it anywhere, him & his wife spent hours searching for the ring.

When I got there this morning, I met the young man and discussed the search area. Everything pointed towards the big hedges as a hiding spot for this Harvard university graduation ring, which meant the world to this man. Such a symbolic symbol, he wore on his finger for only a couple of months, for him, I’m sure this Ring symbolized all the hard work & the studying in order for him to graduate from Harvard.

I was excited to start the search. I felt confident I would find it, not quite sure exactly where but I had a good idea. After 30 minutes of searching moving the bushes, I heard the ping of the ring hitting a rock and I look down, and there was his beautiful Harvard graduation ring.

His ring was caught up on the branches of the tree, and by moving the tree I shook it loose! I love my job for so many reasons obviously to see the smiles and how finding peoples lost sentimental items affect them, also the detective work and trying to understand where these items will show up.

I was able to surprise Jonathan with his beautiful class ring from Harvard. I was just as excited as he was to see his ring the only difference is I didn’t work nearly as hard as he did to get it in the first place..

I love my Job!
