LOST 14K GOLD RING RECOVERED IN RALEIGH, N.C. ON 12/9/2012

  • from Hillsborough (North Carolina, United States)
Contact:

On the afternoon of 12/9/2012 I recieved a phone call from a gentleman by the name of ( Mr. Joe D ). who explained that his father, ( Mr. Tom D. ) lost a 14K gold ring while working in his yard a week earlier.. After speakin with ( Mr. Joe D.)  , I then called his father , ( Mr. Tom D. ) to speak to him and he explained the story of losing the ring as well.. I then agreed to meet them about a hour later and when I got there, I had ( Mr. Tom D. ) walk me through what he was doing when he lost his ring.. He explained that he had searched for it with no luck and even had the neighbor help.. He told me that it could be in one of the many bags of rakings or around the bushes which is where he was when he lost it.. Rather than go through all the bags and dump out all the leaves etc which would be alot more work to clean them up again, I got out my Long Range Metal Detector / Electroscope and proceded to scope the area around the Bushes where he was when he lost the ring.. Instantly I was able lock onto a target by the bushes where he was working using my Long Range Metal Detector and in under ten minutes I was able to recover his lost ring for him.. I am so glad I was able to help him.. I hope they have a Merry Christmas and wish them a very Happy Holidays.. In the pictures you with see the ring and me holding my long range metal detector standing beside Mr. Tom D.

Class Ring Returned Vinton Iowa

Contact:

This is kind of a long story, but it has a happy ending!

I found this girls class ring back in September when I was water detecting at a small beach. There was a name engraved on the inside of the band but I couldn’t read it even with a 16x loupe.

So I put an add on craigslist on the lost and found section but I didn’t have any replies. So I kept wondering what to do with it. There was no school name on it. Just the name Emily and the year 2010.

This was the first class ring I’ve ever found but I wanted to return it. So I was having some jewelry work done on an old ring and decided to take the class ring along and have them look at it. Well they gave me enough information on the name on the inside of the band that I was able to google the name and come up with a girl who was the right age and lived close enough to the beach I was detecting. It must be her!

I was able to get her parents address. Today I was going to be in the area so I stopped at their house. Luckily Emily was there. She was very happy to see her long lost ring. Her mother and her couldn’t believe I found it. She had lost it last year while swimming at the beach. So it had been in the water awhile.

I believe she was thrilled to have her ring back and it made me happy to finally get it to the rightful owner.

Shannon’s Husband Wedding Ring Lost now Found!

Ellen & I got a call from our « The Ring Finders » website.  It as about 8pm on Sunday evening.  Shannon said that she and her husband had been at the local recreation center playground.  Her husband took off his wedding ring and put it in his pocket so he would not scratch it while working out using the playground equipment as a gym.

Upon returning home he realized his ring was gone.  He and Shannon searched for 6 days looking for the ring.  She found us on the web and called. I told her I would come on on Monday morning after 9am, but after hearing her voice and talking to my wife.  My wife convinced me to go do our 1st night search. We had our headlamps and our flashlight and the playground was in a nice area of town, so we decided to give it a try.

After 20 minutes of searching in the dark I hit something strong and thought to myself, I got it… but no it was a child’s charm bracelet.  I stood up and got another hit just 2 feet from the bracelet.  I bent down using my pinpointer and light and there was the ring.  I had to use the flashlight to be sure I had Shannon’s husband’s ring.  It was.

I called Shannon at 9:30pm and she seemed concerned when she realized it was me,  I said hello and ask her if she would like to come up to the park playground and pick up her husband’s ring.  She was estastic.  She said she would be right down.   She arrived in 15 minutes and was extremely grateful.  This is my favorite part of this hobby, seeing the smiles, seeing the relief, it is a win, win moment for everyone.

Now I thought this adventure was over, but on Monday I received a very special text message from Shannon.  I have pasted the text in below…

«  » Thank you again sooo much, Don!! I surprised Aaron with his ring when he got home from work last night…. I sat him down and proposed to him :).  Luckily he said yes 🙂 We are both so happy to have his ring back. You and your wife are so wonderful! It was an honor meeting you two! «  »

Lost Wedding Ring Sugar Land, Texas (Recovered)

  • from Sugar Land (Texas, United States)

Happy to have his wedding found

Great First Day with « The Ring Finders »

I told Lee Vaughn that hearing about him having lost his wedding ring was in of itself a miracle. I had just made an inquiry at work as to the type of metal detectors currently being used by the department.

It was at this time, I found out about Lee’s lost wedding ring. Our CSI personnel had tried to assist him a few days prior in locating his lost wedding ring but where unsuccessful. The search location was extremely muddy at that time making it extraordinary difficult to conduct any type of search.

The story was Lee had apparently lost his Platinum wedding ring while trying to get his vehicle un-stuck in a muddy field near the department.

I drove by the location that evening which was now dry and was able to identify the area in question. There were several deep tire ruts and muddy foot tracks in the area that had been described to me. I returned the next day with my Minelab Excalibur, consequently the same day I joined “The Ring Finders” and found Lee’s ring buried in about one inch of mud. The search took about thirty minutes.

I contacted Lee that evening identifying myself and informed him I had found his lost wedding ring. I think Lee was a little apprehensive initially, until I described the ring and the location where it was recovered. Lee said he had given up all hope of ever getting his ring back. He explained after the previous unsuccessful attempt he had rented a metal detector from Acme Rentals. He said, he had and spent an entire day searching for his lost ring. He was convenienced the ring was lost forever.

CBC NEWS CALGARY RING FINDER KEVIN NIEFER

This year alone, he has helped reunite nine couples with their rings.

Kevin Niefer uses several metal detectors to find lost wedding rings. (CBC)

Just last week, Niefer got a call from a Calgary couple that would lead him to his toughest assignment to date.

Will Hoff had lost his wedding ring in the Waiparous River near Cochrane. After about an hour of searching in the fast-moving rocky river, Niefer was able to find the ring.

« Are you freaking kidding me? » Hoff exclaimed moments after Niefer plucked his ring out of the water.

Niefer says he isn’t in it for the money. Although couples often compensate him for his efforts, he doesn’t charged them a set amount.

“When you find it and people go ‘Oh no! I can’t believe you found it!,’ That’s pretty exciting, right? And to be able to return something that sentimental — that’s the biggest reward,” Niefer said.

Lost Wedding Ring Found…Iowa City, Iowa

Contact:

On Thursday I got a call from a guy who lost his gold wedding band . He thought he lost it either while washing the dog in the front of his house or when he was playing baseball with his son in the backyard.

This was over a year ago, he thought May of last year. So I got my things together after work on Thursday and searched for it. I gridded out an area in his front yard where he washed the dog. Two hours later no ring.

So I went back today and gridded part of his backyard where he was playing ball with his son. An hour and a half and still no ring. I was beginning to wonder if it was in his yard. I stayed with my grid some more and got a decent 12-21 signal on the CTX. I knew it could be it but I was getting many pieces of aluminum siding and gutter that were hitting in this range also.

But it was the ring! Yahoo! Isn’t it a great feeling when you pull something like that out of the ground. His young son was out watching me work, so I washed it off and gave it to him and told him to take it to his Dad.

They all were very happy and couldn’t believe I found it. Never give up on your grid search. HH

School ring found and returned in Round Lake, IL

  • from Las Vegas (Nevada, United States)

I found this 2007 High School ring in the water at Round Lake, IL.  and spent a week trying to return it to it’s owner. I called the school and because of privacy  issues could not give me any contact information. I then went to the white pages and called everyone with the same last name within a 40 mile area. I received a call back and had them describe the ring.

Apparently, playing football in the water might not be the best thing to do if you want to keep your rings. She lost it  6 years ago doing the football thing with her dad.

I sent the ring back to her and received a thank you after she received it. She declined the request to submit a photo with her returned ring.

No problem, I can understand the privacy issue. Attaches if a photo of the ring (Sans Owner).
