Lost White Gold & Diamonds Engagement Ring at Waimanalo Beach…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a text from Michelle that read, « Hey I’m on waimanalo beach and have lost my wedding ring. Is that something you help with? »  I immediately called Michelle and found out she was visiting from Salt Lake City, Utah and assisting her father in moving his home on island.  While enjoying the day at Waimanalo Beach, Michelle reached to return hit a volleyball and her White Gold & Diamonds Engagement ring flew off and disappeared in the sand.  After several hours sifting the sand through a box sifter it became obvious they weren’t going to find the ring without a little metal detecting.  I told Michelle I would grab my gear and head over and that they were about 30 minutes away.  When I arrived the first thing I noticed was a box sand sifter and a pile of sand.  They had been working hard but the ring was no where to be found.  I fired up the beast and started a grid search.  First target was a wine bottle cap.  Then I got a solid perfect dot #27 on the VDI and in one deep sccoop there was Michelle’s gorgeous ring.  A few hugs later and the joy on her face proved once again why I love this hobby so much.  Aloha to Michelle!

Gold Ring Lost in Backyard of a Long Beach, CA. Private Residence

*** Will was building a storage shed in his backyard. Later that evening while inside his house he noticed his gold wedding ring was not on his finger. He never felt it come off. This is normal because when people wear rings for many years, the ring can still feel like it’s on.

He called me explaining the circumstances of his loss. He couldn’t remember exactly when he last saw the ring before discovering his ring missing. It could be anywhere. We set up a day that I could search his backyard as that was where he had done a lot of activity, moving construction materials with high grass that could hide a small gold ring.

The game plan was to eliminate the backyard using a metal detector. If that was unsuccessful we had many other places that a metal detector may not be able to be used. We didn’t waste time discussing all the other areas the ring could be. It’s a process of elimination, one area at a time. Why get yourself confused with all the possibilities.

Metal detectors are a great tool for finding lost rings, but they do have limitations. So I used the my metal detector in the yard, where it works the best.

Sometimes you start in the right place, which was what happened this day.. 20 minutes in the backyard grass .. BOOM!  Will’s gold ring was found near his small construction project.

He was inside at the time of the recovery. When he came out to see how I was doing , I was able to surprise him.. and able to show him where it had been hiding.

Expert Tips on How to Find a Ring in the Sand in Oxnard

Losing a ring in the sand can feel hopeless, but I’m Dave, your local ring finder, here to help. On the first evening of spring, I got a call from Dave from Colorado, staying at the Zachari Dunes Mandalay Bay. While enjoying Oxnard Beach Park near the water, he noticed his ring was gone. With just iPhone flashlights, he and his wife tried to find it in the dark as the tide rose. No luck. That’s when he searched “how to find a ring in the sand in Oxnard” and found me at davetheringfinder.com.
The Search for a Lost Ring in Oxnard Sand
Dave called me the next morning with coordinates of the spot at Oxnard Beach Park. Though he had to check out early, I promised to recover his ring fast. The 20×20 patch of sand showed their efforts, but I knew rings often move. Using my Minelab Manticore, I started a grid search, going beyond their marks. On my fourth pass, three feet outside the perimeter, I got a solid 25 signal. One scoop with my CKG scoop, and the clink confirmed it—his ring was back!

DIAMOND ENGAGEMENT RING LOST IN THE PALISADES FIRE FOUND AND RETURNED

  • from Santa Monica (California, United States)

Claudia called me the other day and told me she lost her Diamond engagement ring when her house burned down in the Palisades fire. she put it away in a shirt pocket in the closet.  I followed her and her husband to the property the next day. She showed me were the closet should have been before the fire. I spent about fifteen minutes throwing some heavy pipes and  metal debris out of the way. I  began sifting with a two part screen so I could remove larger pieces of metal and rubble which would allow me to spot a smaller ring in the bottom screen. after a little more than another hour I spotted the ring. I called Claudia’s husband over to show him the ring quietly so he could surprise  his wife. He carried the ring over hidden in his hand. He told her it was a button that she might recognize. When he opened his hand she let out a  scream and did a little happy dance. It was a great feeling to see the couple so happy and surprised. They were a very nice couple. and it was my pleasure to be able to reunite them with there special ring.

*** Joey contacted me needing help to find a diamond engagement his wife lost in ankle deep water at a Southern California Beach. I told him we only had a few hours before high tide. I suggested that he call another detector guy closer to the location.  If the guy couldn’t do the search, call me back.

Joey called me back giving me the general area. I said it would take me about an hour and half to get there. It would be necessary to be able to have Monique present to hear her describe how and where the loss occurred.

We all showed up at the same time. The tide was low enough to use the detector without getting wet.

Monique’s beautiful diamond engagement ring was exactly where she had been collecting sea shells, already 2” deep in wet sand.

Timing is very important especially for losses that happen on public beaches with tides that change from minus -1.0 ft. low tide to plus + 5.6 ft. high tide.

Don’t waste your time renting or buying a cheap metal detector. If you don’t have any experience operating one, it could be very frustrating. Let me come to you with the best equipment available and experience for recovering all types of sentimental keepsakes. Stan the Metal Detector Man.. Mobile metal detecting service .. 949-500-2136

ROLEX WATCH COLLECTION LOST IN THE ALTADENA FIRE FOUND AND RETURNED

  • from Santa Monica (California, United States)

Vincent called me and told me that he lost his prized watch collection in the Altadena fire when his house burned down to the ground. he told me  there were over thirty watches in his collection including four Rolexes. He was devastated not only to lose his home of over thirty years but a high end watch collection that took a lifetime to buy. one watch at a time. I met him a few days later and followed him to his property. He showed me the possible locations of his bedroom were the watches were proudly  displayed in a fancy box .  I cut away part of the walls that had collapsed on the area. then began raking and shoveling the debris through a sifting screen. within an hour I started finding Vincent’s watches , one then another then another and so on until I had found all thirty watches including the  four expensive Rolexes and his grandfathers pocket watch. He was amazed that I found all of them. I had to cut away more of the plaster and chicken wire wall before I could search for his wife’s jewelry. within another half hour I found her diamond ring a gold star Saphire ring and two gold bracelets.  I finished the day off with finding most of Vincent’s  silver  coin collection . He thanked me over and over and told me now he had some closure after the disaster and how he was ready to turn the property over to the Army Core Of Engineers to remove all the debris and clear the lot.

Property Pin located in West Kelowna BC

  • from Kelowna (British Columbia, Canada)

June moved into her West Kelowna home 1 year ago, now it is time to start renovations, starting with a fence. However it is not a new home and the Survey pins are hidden, June found me on « The Ringfinders » and gave me a call for assistance. I responded the next day with my Metal Detector. the lot is an odd shape so the backyard was difficult to locate, the front yard had a large tree on both fronts, the one on the left was overgrown, the one on the right was large but groomed back. I stated searching by the utilities and Water shut off. A few old targets, but no pin so I moved around the supposedly neighbours tree and there it was 12 inches away from the tree. Now June can get a lot blueprint and measure from that pin.

Hierloom Gold Diamond Pendant.. Lost in Grass .. Fountain Valley, CA.

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

*** Finding a gold diamond pendant in the grass at a public park can be challenging, especially in the dark. Celine called for help to find her sentimental pendant that was a gift from her grandmother and she has worn it everyday for years.

It was dark when I received the call. Celine told me she was in a Fountain Valley neighborhood park with her dog. Her dog playfully jumped up with its paws braking her gold necklace. The pendant flew off into deep grass.

During our conversation she asked if she could meet me the next day after she got home from work.  I would rather meet her as soon as possible, so I could get the location pinpointed. If it didn’t show up in the dark. I could resume the search the next day while she was at work.

I met her with her neighbor  and his metal detector. He was unable to locate the pendant. My equipment was able to locate the pendant shortly after I started the grid search. I’m sure the neighbor could have found it, but she had him searching the wrong location. This is more common than most inexperienced ringfinders know. It always important to ask the important questions. Celine was more than happy to have her pendant back.

I also took time to show her neighbor  that his detector would have found it if he was in the right location.

Ring Lost Doing Yard Work: Recovered by Rob Ellis, Fairfax, VA.

  • from Fairfax (Virginia, United States)

Kathy contacted me to help locate her one-of-a-kind wedding band. She lost it in her backyard over a month ago while doing yardwork. This work included covering her rose bushes for the winter. I gathered my rake, grid search lines, heavy gloves, detectors, and headed to her home.

The yard consisted of the area where Kathy cut the covering material for the rose bushes and a lower terrace containing the 10 rose bushes. Kathy showed me how she’d moved about the yard, trimming the bushes, cutting the covering material and pointing out other areas of the yard in which she worked. She took me to the place she transitioned from the lower terrace, climbing a 4-foot wall to the flat area where she cut the winter cover material. It took some time to gather the information, but it really paid off when I began to search.

I started at the spot where Kathy had climbed the wall. I turned on and calibrated my detector, swung it over the grass, and heard a clear gold tone. I found Kathy’s beautiful ring as I completed my first swing of the machine!! This isn’t the first time I’ve found a ring right away. I give credit to luck and Kathy’s excellent description of her movements throughout her yard.
