Lost Gold and Green Quartz Stone Engagement Ring at Ulua Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring hunt began when my fellow ring finder on Maui Dave Sheldon texted, « Inbound ring hunt for you. Good Luck. » I then received a call from Dustin who was on a family vacation from Salt Lake City, Utah. While his daughter Sophee was in the water she noticed sand lodged in between the setting and the stone. She took her ring off to rinse and it slipped out of her fingers and into the shallow water between her legs. She thought she could just reach down and grab it, but the water was just slightly murky and she didn’t have any goggles to search. She yelled for her three sisters Sydnee, Saydee and Stevee to help her search but initially they thought she was joking. When she screamed she wasn’t they came over immediately and tried to help. Sophee started to cry and told her fiance’ Teagan the ring was taken by the ocean and they probably weren’t going to see it again. They frantically searched for about an hour and as the sun went down the water was really getting cold. Sophee was crying so much she could barely see anymore. The mask she was wearing kept fogging up to make matters worse. Finally, after reaching Dave on Maui Sophee’s father Dustin got my number. The funny part was Dustin said I was a « ring finder » so I’m sure he can find it. If it was « ring searcher » I wouldn’t be so sure. Dad’s have the best humor in difficult times! The sun was setting fast so thankfully traffic across Oahu allowed me to get there in 30 minutes. Upon arrival, Teagan and Sophee helped me create a grid and I started the search. After the hunt I didn’t find the ring so I told them let me go over and expand the grid. Sure enough on about the third grid in calf deep water I got a loud number « 8 » on the Nox and in one scoop I could just see a ring in the twilight. Sophee and Teagan were amazed I found it and the location was much closer to the shoreline then they imagined. Tides can deceive the hunter! Vacation saved! Aloha to Sophee & Teagan!

How to find a lost ring in snow…

I got a distress call early evening Saturday in regards to a lost diamond engagement ring in Chilliwack. After talking for 20 minutes we arrange a time and place to meet the next day, originally I was looking to meet around noon but the young man asked if I could do it sooner as his wife was struggling with the fact that she lost her engagement ring.

They even told me they bought a metal detector and search for it also 10 or more people walking by the time stop to help search in the snow unfortunately finding a platinum diamond ring in the snow is virtually impossible. The fact that they bought a metal detector doesn’t always mean they’re going to fine with Dave Lost. If you have never used a metal detector it would be hard to understand how it works and how to properly search for it. I have 50 years of a Metal Detecting Experience and lots of lessons I have learned over the years on wear rings turn up, it’s not always where you think they’re going to be.

After meeting the young couple they showed me where they believe the ring could be, they cleverly marked two trees so they could get back to the area… Very smart thing to do because sometimes people don’t always get you back to the exact area. After searching for close to 30 minutes and no Ring the young lady went to the second location she thought it may have come off her finger and that was by the lake, her husband stayed behind to watch me and shortly after I found her beautiful diamond ring and surprised her husband. We agreed to go to the lake and surprise his wife!

Lost Rose Gold and Tantalum Wedding Band at Naia Lagoon Ko Olina…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This Ring Find began Tuesday afternoon when I got a call from Alena who was on vacation from Oregon and staying at the Ko Olina Resort with her husband Yevgeniy. While on the beach her husband noticed his Rose Gold and Tantalum Ring was missing from his finger. He wasn’t sure when it came of but was sure it was either when he was playing volleyball or when he jumped in and swam in the lagoon to cool off. Since it might require scuba I told Alena the best day would be Thursday afternoon low tide as the surf was at the moment crashing on the North and West facing shorelines. I assured her no one else would get the ring as I was the only metal detectorist allowed on Ko Olina Resort. When I arrived Thursday Alena & Yevgeniy were waiting for me on the beach. I had Yevgeniy draw a box in the dry sand where he had been playing volleyball and then in the wet sand on the left and right grid marks from where he was in the water of the lagoon. I told them they could go relax while I did the hunt as it could take quite awhile especially if I had to go in the water. I fired up the Nox and first searched the Volleyball area with no luck. Since Yevgeniy said he ran to the water I figured I better search the sand going towards the water. On the second leg of that grid I got a loud number « 8 » on the Nox and in one scoop there was his unique rose gold and tantalum ring in the scoop. This is where experience grid hunting paid off because it was about six feet outside the volleyball grid area towards the lagoon. I held up the ring and Alena was still on the beach and she came running down in disbelief. Yevgeniy had told her he was pretty sure it was gone forever and didn’t think it would be found. He had to provide someone a ride and had left the resort so, Alena texted him the good news. Vacation saved! Aloha to Alena & Yevgeniy!

Wedding and Engagement rings on a gold chain lost in rural Sussex

  • from Kent (England, United Kingdom)
  • Had a call from Michelle yesterday evening , she explained she had lost a wedding and engagement ring , which was on a gold chain whist out dog walking a week ago .

We agreed to meet this morning ,where Michelle proceeded to show me the route she had walked , and most importantly pointed out an area on the walk where she recalled tucking the chain inside her jacket , I decided to start detecting from this area , a few minutes later and  my detector hit on a shallow target , which turned out to be the missing wedding ring , it had been squashed into the soft ground by the hoof of a horse , I guessed the engagement ring would be close by and I spotted it sitting in the dry mud only a couple of feet away , alas despite an intensive search of the area , the gold chain was never recovered.
Michele was very happy to be reunited with her precious rings , thanks to ring finders precious items have been returned

Not the prettiest recovery I have ever done, but at least the sentimental aspect and symbolic meaning behind a wedding ring is still there, recovered and given back to the owner. This flattened platinum and rose gold wedding ring will need a little TLC, but I think it can be repaired.

Got a text message about a gentleman who lost his ring a week and a half ago while sledding with the family. He took his glove off once and that must have been the time when he lost it. When he texted me, he said it was either at his house in his front yard or at the hill where they were sledding. I started off at his house, figured that would’ve been the fastest and the easiest, since the yard was small and grass wasn’t that thick. I scanned it in no time and didn’t find his ring.

I drove down the road to the sled slope and began detecting. After about 15 mins, I realized it wasn’t there and started to walk away when I noticed a shiny bar-like item in the road. I walked over and picked it up and realized, « IT WAS THE RING!!! » flattened, but it was the ring!

I texted the gentleman, sent photos and told him I found it, but he wasn’t going to like how it looks! He responded with « Awww, THAT DOES SUCK, BUT THAT’S ALRIGHT, I’LL KEEP IT AS A MEMENTO »

Lost White Gold and Silver Bridal Set Rings with Diamonds Found in Jackson Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

Sentimental Heirlooms…..

……As Abbie was unloading groceries from her vehicle the other night one of the bags broke. As she was picking up the contents, her soldered wedding rings came off. Frantically looking in the dark with her husband brought no luck. The next morning another search commenced with the same result. The rings have been passed down thru the family for many generations and irreplaceable. On site there was about 3 inches of snow, along with compacted snow from her prior searches and the vehicle being moved. A quick turn on and go with my MXT metal detector had me searching quickly. I was looking for a white gold signal on the MXT meter and running out of searchable real estate I got a higher read than usual. Pulling the depth switch it read 0/1 inch deep. I got out my pin pointer and got a signal, and under a shoeprint, compressed under the snow her beautiful rings came to light! I waved for Abbie to come over and she excitedly asked if I found it. She reached down, lifted it from the snow and began the thawing process. Once dried, I looked at it with my loupe magnifier and discovered one of the rings was white gold and the other sterling silver!… which explained the unusually high meter read and something Abbie didn’t know. With that information she was even more fascinated and wanted to find out more about the rings, and with her daughter in arms the lil one was reinforcing the well kept promise for now and to come.

Lost Ring Downtown Pensacola – Found Months Later!!!

  • from Orange Beach (Alabama, United States)

This was a cool story. Sally and her husband came over from MS back around Thanksgiving and spent some time enjoying Pensacola in an AirBnB. While here, she lost her engagement ring and it has bothered her ever since. She had contacted the establishments she went to and no one had turned in a missing ring. The only place she didn’t have closure with was sitting outside the Airstream trailer that was their BnB. She ended up posting on Pensacola Lost and Found and a nice lady named Melissa politely insisted she contact me if she wanted to find it. Thanks Melissa because that’s where I came in. Sally and I spoke and I asked a ton of questions. I really thought it was going to be tough because of the time passed and the fact that the BnB had seen 40 guests since then. I still thought it would be good to try so I contacted the owner (Sally was still in MS) and made plans to come by. When I got to the Airstream I started to worry. A lot of people don’t realize but a metal detector reads up and down and a little sideways. So when I started checking the area, the sheer volume of metal with the trailer, the metal fence, the metal side building, the metal fire pit, a sundial, multiple bicycles and so on and so on made my machine go crazy. I started problem solving and grabbed some of my other equipment and used some tricks I know to let me look around. I ended up getting a gold signal on the complete other side of the yard where Sally thought it might be. Lo and behold I did a little digging and out popped Sally’s ring a couple of months after it had been dropped in another state. I mailed it back to Sally and as you can see we have started off 2022 with a happy return. Thanks for trusting me to find such a precious ring. 💍👍

Found my 3rd gold ring today as I received another call to find a lost ring in the snow!
Funny story here. Her husband thought this was a “SILVER” ring! Turns out it was actually 14k gold! I spent the first few mins looking for a silver ring. When she called her husband to check the car she said she had the other ring in her pocket. I asked to see that ring, scanned it over my coil and I told her it’s gold not silver. Then I made the adjustments and BOOM VDI 46 and her ring was found!
She said, she will NEVER let her husband live this one down for not know what metal he bought her. lol!!!
So glad I could help her find her ring again! I love what I do!
