Lost Cartier Gold & Diamonds Love Bracelet at Four Seasons Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

This bracelet find began when I returned from the mall and my wife Wendy said the phone upstairs had rung a few times but she was stuck in the kitchen prepping dinner. When I got to the answering machine their was a call from Jenny. While on vacation from California Jenny and her husband Simon were playing volleyball on the beach. While Jenny was hitting the ball her Cartier Love Bracelet came apart from a loosened screw and went flying into the sand. They found one half but after a thorough search by the entire family the other half was hopelessly hidden somewhere in the dry sand. Four Seasons Security recommended they call me. Although it was late I agreed to meet Simon and Jenny that night to recover the bracelet. When I arrived Simon met me in the parking lot and then took me down to the beach where Jenny was waiting. There was a grid pattern in the sand already marking the volleyball court so I was able to start the hunt immediately. First target was a piece of foil, then a corroded penny, then a whiskey screw top. Finally the fourth target was a #13 on the Nox and it took two scoops and 10 inches deep to recover the target. There in the scoop was Jenny’s beautiful Cartier Love Bracelet half. Vacation saved! Jenny and Simon were so appreciative that I came out so late to find her bracelet. Turns out they were originally from my home state of Pennsylvania. We had a few laughs together then bid Aloha. Aloha to Jenny & Simon!

Kelowna. Horse arena rings found for a second time

Last December I assisted Natalie to find her wedding ring in a horse arena, she took the rings off, and put them in her pocket so as not to lose them during her event. Today her husband called me on The Ringfinders to say that she was embarrassed because she had done it again, only this time losing both 14k White Gold and Diamond, Wedding ring and Engagement ring. After an hour and a half of gridding the outdoor arena she had both rings back on her finger. A bonus was that I also found a young girls gold ring that she lost yesterday.

Lost Diamond Ring Maryville Tennessee…Found

This couple had been reseeding their back yard last weekend when Sarah S. noticed her ring was missing.  They hadn’t been married long, I think maybe a year and a half.  She was very distressed, putting it mildly.  They had tried to find the ring on their own.  Even going out and purchasing a very low end metal detector, but with no discrimination he quickly found out how much trash metal was in his yard, (the house dates from the 40s).   The drive to the site was nearly two hours.  I listened to her story, as well as asking a few questions.  The ring was a white gold and diamonds engagement/wedding band set.  I set up my grid, and made one pass across the yard.  About halfway back on the second pass I got a solid 12.02 at zero inches on my CTX.  I knew that tone and VDI was exactly what I was looking for with it being white gold.  Sure enough, my pinpointer found the wedding band portion just below the layer of straw.  I marked the location with a flag and continued on.  Two steps later I got another 12.02 at zero inches.  This was the larger engagement band portion.  She had a good cry when I showed her the rings, it would have made a great video had I been recording.

Lost Sprinkler Valve Box Found In Rochester Hills Michigan

The Grass Is Greener…..

……Where You Water It!  That’s exactly how Ollie felt when he turned on his sprinkler system and discovered it was not working. He called me and mentioned I had previously located his property pins 2 yrs. ago and inquired about locating the valve boxes for his sprinkler system. I said sure no problem. He said tree roots and cable tv lines were in proximity and he didn’t want to start trying to find the boxes himself. On site I chose my Tesoro Sidewinder with it’s all-metal mode for searching. Scanning the ground I located the cable tv lines, then scanning a bit further the all-metal threshold sound increased on the metal detector as I traced the size of the metal valves/piping which matched roughly to the shape of the valve box. Scraping a few inches of mulch, dirt and small roots revealed the green cover of the valve box. Moving a bit away I found the second valve box. He was thrilled now that he could make the repairs to the system and excited that his grass will always be greener on his side of the fence.

2 Gold and diamond rings, lost for 4 years, recovered Carpentersville, Il

I received a email from Lori in January about looking for a lost diamond ring in thier backyard. She asked if I thought that I could possibly find it even though it was lost over 4 years ago. I asked her if there was any type of construction or if the soil had been disturbed since then.  She said that it was not disturbed. But we just had a major snow and ice storm that left over a foot of snow and ice on the ground so we decided to wait for it to melt. It took till March 11th for all of the snow and ice to melt and for us to have a chance to meet up for the search.  I was shown the area in the backyard where the ring was thought to be. After 2 1/2 hours of searching their’s and both of their neighbors backyards all the way down to the edge of the swamp, at the rear of their townhomes with no luck.  So I came back the following afternoon with some Muck boots and waded into the edge of the swamp. Not long into the search I recovered a white gold wedding band with no diamnds incased in a tite root ball! Confused I asked Lori to describe her ring to me again and she told me it was a diamond ring with one bigger center stone and smaller stones on the sides. So I showed her the ring I found. It was her wedding band! So my ring search turned into a multiple ring search. Turns out the entire wedding set was out there and now just the diamond ring is still out there! So I searched as much of the swampy area as I could before getting water over my boots. Unfortunately I couldn’t find the diamond ring that night. So I told Lori that I wasn’t giving up and that I would return with my chest waders and the rest of my water gear. It took a few days before I could get back. March 19th I made it back with my water gear and within minutes I had another white metal ring! Just a band with no stones. Turned out to be a stainless steel ring. And just a few minutes later I got the signal that I had been waiting for! 13 on the Nox, still entangled in the vegetation floating near the surface of the water was Lori’s long lost diamond ring!! We knew it was there, I just had to get my coil over it!!

Lost Rose Gold Ring in House Found with Dowsing Rod in Mt. Clemens Michigan

A Rose Between 2 Tee Shirts?……

….Got a call early this morning from Bri. She stated that somehow, somewhere her engagement ring went missing about 1am. On the way out I learned that she remembered putting it in her shirt pocket and just before falling into bed the shirt went into a clothes hamper. She searched the hamper and nothing was there. On site I noticed 2 piles of clothes close together. Assembling my dowsing rod, baiting it with gold to help form an attraction and extending the antenna I swept the rod to cover the whole room. From about 8 feet away the rod locked onto the clothes pile on the left. Grabbing my Garrett pinpointer metal detector we started to lift and scan thru the clothes. A few articles of clothing down the pinpointer buzzed, but it had buzzed on the zippers/snaps prior. Lifting a tee shirt off the pile revealed this gorgeous custom design rose gold ring with diamonds! Bri was stunned that her ring was not anywhere near what she remembered but thankful that a rose between 2 thorns can take on many forms!

Lost Ring Orange Beach, AL – FOUND!!!

The first ring recovery of the year is always special but this one was awesome for multiple reasons!  Not only did I get to put a wedding band back on someone’s hand where it belongs but I also got to take a picture without worrying about a mask in over a year. This first call of the season happened to be the exact day that I could consider myself vaccinated from COVID after getting my second shot 2 weeks earlier. Yesterday evening, my new friend Mary called and said that she and her husband had come down from Birmingham with the family to enjoy Spring Break. Her husband had been playing beach volleyball the afternoon before when he noticed his Wedding band was no longer on his hand. He wasn’t 100% sure that it had come off then but after having it on for 14 years he was pretty sure he felt it go flying in the sand. They quickly realized that a metal detector was a good idea and they went and purchased one. Unfortunately, they ran into the two problems that often occur with this solution. #1)- the detectors designed to be used on our saltwater beaches are very expensive and unfortunately the cheaper ones can be almost useless. #2)- when the machine starts beeping a lot, without years of practice it can be hard to decipher what you are listening to. They then proceeded to plan B where they dug in the sand for hours hoping to find it. This also usually ends up being a bad idea because that will actually just make the ring drop deeper into the sand and harder to find. Luckily a friend suggested me and Mary gave me a call. After talking for a bit, my wife and I headed that way and made it to Orange Beach before the sun set. It made for some great, happy pictures when less than 10 minutes later I was able to gently scoop up her husbands wedding band and return it to her. Mary FaceTime’d her husband and we all celebrated. I am so very glad that they reached out to me and I’m so glad that I was able to start out the 2021 ring return season with a huge smile. Thank you Mary for trusting me to find your husband’s ring.

Man’s Wedding Band Lost, Found, and Returned on Oak Island, NC

On Friday, March 12th, I was out doing some metal detecting on the beach after a long spell of being stuck in the house due to COVID-19. After finishing up, and with little to show for my efforts, I checked my cell phone for any calls or text messages. I had a text from Travis that said in part, “Jim – have a silver ring Lola red somewhere in an azalea bush on Oak Island at my in-laws house. Let’s touch base and see what your availability is when you have a moment. Thanks!”  This was my first lost ring call for 2021 and I was ready. I called Travis and asked what the situation was. He stated that he had lost his ring almost a year ago in some azalea bushes. I told him I had nothing going on and could be there in a couple of hours. He said he’d text his mother-in-law and let her know I was coming. In the meantime, I did a quick Google search to get an idea on what type ring I was looking for and get an idea of what numbers on the detector to look for.

When I got to his in-laws house, I knocked on the door and met Travis’ father-in-law, Bill. We introduced ourselves and he showed me the bushes where the ring was supposed to be. I asked how the ring ended up in the bushes. Bill said that Travis had been cleaning out a bucket and when Travis threw the water from the bucket into the bushes, the ring went with the water. Bill also stated that he had used a metal detector himself but wasn’t able to find the ring. I grabbed my Equinox 800 and pin pointer out of the car and went to work. The back of the bushes were accessible so I was able to work the detector in and around the low hanging branches and over some roots. Within just a couple of minutes, I hit a target showing a solid 14 on the 800 VDI (visual display indicator). I wasn’t positive I had Travis’ ring because with the description I got from him and my Google search, I expected a higher VDI number. I learned a long time ago that with all the different metals and percentages of metals being used to make rings and other jewelry, things don’t ring up on a metal detector like you’re expecting. Also, if I’m looking for someone’s lost treasure; every signal I get needs to be checked. Because of all the low branches, I wasn’t able to get to the target from where I was. I marked the spot with a stick and made my way to the front of the bushes. I was able to crawl far enough under the bush that I could use the pin pointer to find the target. I moved some dead leaves and Bingo! I took a quick picture and sent it to Travis asking “is this it?” Within seconds he texted me back saying “That is it!”

I called him and asked if he wanted me to mail his ring home or leave it with his father-in-law, he told me to leave the ring with his father-in-law and he’d pick it up the following week.

Lost Cartier Diamond Love Bracelet Found in South Kingstown Rhode Island

I received a call for help from Jen, after she lost her diamond Cartier bracelet somewhere on her 10-acre farm.  I told Jen that I would be happy to search for her bracelet the next day, which happened to be St. Patrick’s Day.  My wife accompanied me on the search.  Jen thought she may have lost it while she was feeding the farm animals.  My search included the outside pens and inside stalls of the horses, goats, and chickens but no bracelet was found.  After I confirmed that she had cleaned the animal stalls recently,  Jen directed me to an area at the far end of the property where wood chips and animal waste are dumped.  I searched this area and located half of the two-piece bracelet.   The second half could not be found in this same area.  I believed that it would probably be the areas where the animals are kept or where the hay and feed are stored.  I reminded my wife to keep an eye on the ground as it could be sitting there in plain sight.  Jen and I went to the pod where she keeps hay for the animals and went inside to search inside the storage container.  That’s when my wife looked down and found the other half of the bracelet sitting on top of  the ground in plain sight right outside the pod.  My wife and I were so excited and amazed that both halves of the bracelet were found and in different locations on this large property.  Jen was thrilled to have her bracelet back!  It was a very happy and lucky St. Patrick’s Day all around!
