Lost Wedding Band in Lafayette Louisiana – Found

We received a call from Kevin on January 3, 2016, Sunday evening. He had lost his wedding ring while taking Christmas lights down. The ring was very large and has 5 diamonds in it. Kevin was upset about the loss, but even more so because the diamonds were from him Mom. Kevin lives only about 6 miles away, but it was late so we made plans for Monday morning. Sid and Kevin both had to work, but Carrie met up with Kevin’s wife Kathryn to start the hunt. Kathryn showed me where the lights had been and the area where Kevin had rolled up and boxed the lights. Kevin had also blown the leaves in the yard and around the sidewalk and driveway area. The search area may need to be expanded. Our son James was off work so he said he would help. James has never used a metal detector before. After talking with Kathryn, I set James up with Sid’s detector and pin pointer to work around the driveway area. I went hunt in the front yard. I was checking the flower bed around where the lights had been in the bushes, but decided to check the yard area where he rolled up the lights first. Then would come back to the flower beds. Well, I turned around, took about one step and there I heard it, the sound of gold! I looked down and there it was laying on top of the grass, in plain sight. Only took a couple of minutes to end the search. I knocked on the door, and needless to say Kathryn was shocked that it was found so quickly!

Lost Gold Ring Near Strathcona Farmers Market Edmonton, Alberta

Michael  called me this morning to see if I would be available to help him find his lost gold ring. It belonged to his father and was of huge sentimental value to him. I told him I would be there in forty five minutes.

Michael had been checking his parking meter to see how much time he had left, lost his balance, and felt the ring fly off his finger but had no idea in which direction it had gone.  He thought it ended up on the Church property and had spent a couple of hours with his friends looking for it with no luck.  He had even had the Edmonton Police with a hand held detector looking for him.

I did a quick search of the area but did not find the ring so I decided to check the street.  With all the traffic, I had to dodge cars, and I felt my chances were slim that I would find it.  I did detect a tone, which  turned out to be a pop can.  I swung my coil again and only inches away from the pop can I heard the same tone again. Packed in about 2 inches of snow was the ring in perfect condition.  Considering that he had lost the ring 3 days prior, and all the traffic on that street, he was very, very fortunate.

Newlyweds’ Lost Wedding Ring FOUND at the Hilton Hotel, Big Island, Hawaii

Van and Ellie called us with bad news and good news.

The bad news was that Van had been swimming in the Hilton hotel’s lagoon in Waikoloa and lost his new wedding ring! He’d put sunscreen on and within minutes of getting in, felt it fly off as he moved his hand through the water. The good news was that since he had felt it slip off – he’d marked the precise location, time and depth before calling us.

There were no waves in the lagoon, the deepest part of the lagoon was shoulder depth and within a controlled space (as opposed to a public one – so someone who may have seen them searching couldn’t return and keep Van’s ring if found).

We met them at the entrance to the main lobby where the hotel had also arranged security to log us in and bring us to the lagoon. We were relieved for the buggy ride as the hotel grounds are huge and we’d brought two underwater detectors as well as light scuba gear in case…

Van climbed over the rocks and went into the water with me while Sylvie gave me (and Van’s wife Ellie) moral support from the nearby shore. Sylvie didn’t get in as I thought it would be a quick find – since everything was going in our favor – it was almost an « ideal » location.

One and a half hours later, I was starting to worry… We’d gone over-and-over the square he’d marked the moment his ring was lost. I continued to expand the search at every pass. Sylvie called over, « Should I gear up and bring in the Sea Hunter? » We use the pulse induction Garrett Sea Hunter MkII with a big coil in clean sandy-bottomed areas.

« I think so… » I replied not sure how I – or my Minelab Excalibur could have missed the ring. I was getting cold  and frustrated that something seemingly so right had gone so wrong.

Just as Sylvie started walking over to get the other detector I suddenly heard the loud clear tone that tungsten makes in my headphones. « Cancel that! » I yelled over to Sylvie. Van looked up. He was holding the Go Pro and started filming. I stuck my head in the water, scooped and looked into the basket. « Does it look something like this?! » I asked, picking the ring out of the mud and stones.

Van and Ellie were so relieved to have their precious ring found!

And so were we – Phew!

Sliver wedding band recovered on Loveland Pass

Two months ago Adam and Emily were married. Their wedding bands were something extra-ordinary as they had .actually made their wedding bands from a single piece of silver bar stock. Fast forward to Saturday November 7th, they spent the morning doing some early season skiing at A-Basin. On their way home, they stopped by a memorial to (5) people who had perished in an avalanche several years ago. This memorial is on Loveland pass at an altitude of about 11,600 ft. Even though the memorial is over 100 yards off the road, Emily  didn’t put on her gloves as it was warm out for a Colorado winter day. Emily climbed up to the memorial from the trail that leads to it and had to put her unprotected hands into the snow in order to get the traction needed to get to the area she wanted to look at. She spent a few minutes looking over photos, flowers and adornments that make up the memorial. They hiked back to their car and proceeded home. Shortly after arriving home Emily noticed that her wedding band was missing.

In Adam’s quest to find metal detectors to rent he came across my profile on TheRingFinders and called me. We set a time and location to meet so that they could take me to the suspected location of the lost ring. After showing me around the site and explaining what they had dome we headed back to my truck to gear up and begin our search. Upon reaching the site I recovered a couple of pistol casings, though I knew that these targets weren’t Emily’s ring I wanted to make sure that they weren’t masking the ring. I climbed the embankment that Emily did just a few hours before and there I received a signal on my White’s MXT that matched that of when I checked Adams ring. I stepped back and told Adam and Emily that there was a good signal and that I would like Emily to check this signal out. After a few brushes of snow were removed her ring came into view. She let out a « mild » scream, high-fives and hugs were shared by all. Emily couldn’t wait to get back to town to show her friends that doubted we would find her ring our results.

Damascus Steel Ring Returned – Boulder, Colorado

We had a warmer than normal Halloween this year so Chris spent the day doing yard work before taking his young daughter out to hand out candy (she is too young for trick-or-treating). While waiting for the neighborhood kids to come around Chris spent some quality time playing with his daughter in the front yard. The following day he noticed that his wedding ring was missing so he and Jess, Chris’ wife spent hours looking for his ring. They turned the house inside out and looked in the planters that he was working in and also looked throughout the yard with no luck. Monday Chris found my listing on the TheRingFinders directory and called me. After a brief discussion we set my search for the following evening.

After my arrival Chris gave me a quick tour of the yard where he had worked, brought out a bag of leaves that he gathered while doing the yard work and showed me the part of the yard he and his daughter had played in. I searched the front yard where he spent time with his daughter and then moved my way to the back yard. I ran my White’s MXT over the bag of leaves and it sounded off. Due to the ring’s material the signal wasn’t a great one, but there was definitely a signal in the bag. I carried the bag over to one of the raised planters and checked it for signal, none were in the planter. I grabbed a large couple handfuls of leaves and placed them into the planter, the signal was in this pile of leaves. As I moved the leaves around with my pinpointer and eventually the Chris’ ring came into sight.

Chris and Jess were quite happy and a bit surprised that I found the ring.

Ring lost in the sand on San Diego Bay Found!

Zack left an urgent message on my cell phone voice mail stating that he had lost his 4 day old wedding ring in the sand across the street from where he was staying on his honeymoon. When I finally heard the message, I called him back for the details and arranged to meet him there at 11pm. We both arrived a bit early and Zack escorted me down to the area were he had lost it 3 hours earlier. He had been brushing sand off his hands by rubbing them on his pants when the unthinkable happened……the ring went flying into the sand and disappeared. Zack contemplated renting or buying a detector but found The Ring Finders online and decided to give us a try. Initially, I was told it was a silver ring, so, I expected a high pitched screamer for a target on my E-trac. Right after I fired my machine up, I get a low pitched, solid 12-06 moaner in my ears on my first swing. I asked again about the metal it was made of, and he said « silver, but it has some gold in it too ». Great, now I need to scoop virtually all non-ferrous sounds, starting with this one. Well, in this case, first time was the charm, as this 12-06 was his ring! So much for it being mainly silver. A happy Zack couldn’t believe I found it so quick. Getting me to the right spot was the key here, so, good job Zack! I hope you and your new bride enjoy the rest of your stay here. Great to meet you and thank you for the reward.

White gold rind recovered from Commerce City park

Patrick was out playing in the local park with his son with a boomerang type toy. Being afraid of losing his ring, Patrick took off his ring and placed it in his son’s hat which was on the ground. As they were bringing their play time to an end, Patrick’s son went to pick up his hat when he noticed it was crawling with ants so he gave his hat a kick. And with that Patrick’s ring went flying and disappeared into the grass. Patrick went to a local metal detector store and rented a detector. After several minutes of searching he had not found his ring and ended up calling me for help. Luckily I was only a couple of minutes away and even though I was running late for a dinner date with friends and my wife I couldn’t resist helping out.

After 15 minutes of searching my CTX gave me a nice ring signal, there sat Patrick’s ring peeking out of the grass. Quickly we gave high-fives and snapped a couple of photos so that I could race home to my diner date.

White gold ring recovered from Denver volleyball court

Nate was running late for his volleyball league game, so when he arrived at the courts he just hopped right in to the action. Within a minute of his joining the game his wedding ring slipped off his figure and landed in the sand of the volleyball court. He didn’t see the ring leave his figure but he noticed it was missing shortly thereafter.

Nate searched for his ring but would not find it as it had quickly sank out of sight in the loss sand. A few days later he found The Ring Finders and my profile, he contacted me and we set a date and time for a search.

I began my search pattern by running over the side of the court that he was on playing on when he lost his ring. I came up with a few targets but no ring. I then searched the opposing side hoping the ring flew to that side, no luck. I then switched machines and started another search pattern perpendicular to my original pattern. Within a couple of passes my MXT sounded off on a signal, I dug the sand out with my scoop. With in a few seconds the Nat’s ring was in my scoop. Nate was pretty darn happy, his wife had given up hope 30 minutes into the search. So she had a wonderful surprise when I dropped Nate off at home.

Nate’s ring is a unique one with wood and meteorite insets in white gold.

How to find a lost ring in the sand! (Kincardine / Goderich Ontario)

About a week ago we received a call from a lady who had lost her wedding band just south of Kincardine, ON, Canada on a private beach. She was wake boarding for roughly an hour and when she came back in she noticed the ring was no longer on her finger.
We received the call around 8 at night and knew that making it to search that night would not work as we had a good hour ride to the location. Between work and other obstacles in both of our schedules we came to the conclusion the only time to search for it would be the following morning at 7am.
We woke up shortly before 6am and made it to the beach around 7. The lady who lost the ring showed us a rough idea of where the ring had been lost and we began the search.
I had to be to work by 11 which meant I had to leave the location around 930. This gave us about 2.5 hours to find this ring. After about 1 hour of searching thoughts began going through our mind « time is running out », « could we be searching the wrong location », « is it in the shallow water or deep ». Finally my father got a strong signal in about 6 inches of water and dug up the ladies wedding band!
Awesome to be able to reunite this lady with her ring once again and see the smile on her face when she got it back in her hands!

Lost Wedding Band… Found Near Independence Iowa

I found a mans white gold wedding band Monday for a nice young couple. He was messing with some leaky paint cans and didn’t want to get paint on his ring so he gave it to his wife to hold for him. There was an outside water faucet beside the barn so she decided to wash any paint that got on the ring off and wash her hands and get a drink. She thought she put the ring on her ring finger next to her wedding ring and then shook her hands to try and get them dry. Well the ring came off. They searched on hands and knees, bought a cheap detector, no luck. I arrived and gridded the area beside the faucet and didn’t come up with it. So I expanded my search, still nothing. I had her do a couple of reenactments with a ring I brought with me and the ring never went very far. So I put on my six inch coil and went back through the area in a tight grid, still not there. I was beginning to think I would have to come back and do the entire yard. We were standing there discussing it when something on the ground caught my eye. I looked away and then my brain said look back there. I walked over and there it was laying in the gravel. gravel-ring   How it got there is a mystery because it was on the right hand side of the faucet.
