Lost ring at Mission Beach Found

Tammy and family are visiting here from Kansas and went to Mission Beach for a day in the sand. Tammy’s ring finger was a bit swollen and her ring was bothering it a bit, so, she removed it and put it on her pinky finger. Some time later, she noticed it missing and searched the area a bit where they were sitting, but, no luck finding it. An online search found TheRingFinders.com and my contact info. I got the call for help from her friend Matt, gathered my gear, and headed down to the beach to battle the traffic and parking. I got a parking spot about a half mile away and hiked to the search area where I met Matt and Tammy and got a look at the search area. Just a small section where I could see where they were set up and an even smaller « box » outline in the sand. I started at one edge of the area, and immediately got a solid 15 on my Equinox. Nope, just a pull tab. Made the return pass, and started my next pass, where right inside the « box » I got another solid 15 reading, and it was Tammy’s ring. A happy Tammy can now catch her train out of town today without a sad tale of what was lost. A pleasure to meet you and thank you for the reward.

The couples 5 yr old son had a mini treasure chest he was playing with, and mom/dad allowed him to put their wedding rings into it. What could go wrong? Right? They were right by him, walking up their driveway towards the street. They started playing around and chased the 5 yr old. Apparently to get the box back or jokingly get it back. Well, the boy decided to throw it to home plate from first base! 😱🤣 Mom saw her ring hit the ground then disappear! Son found the box, dad found his ring, but moms ring was nowhere to be found! After hours of searching and moving leaves, they finally found me on “THE RING FINDERS. Com” and asked for help!
It was a 2 hour drive one-way to get to their house and try to find it.
I get there, get the backstory and the general area to search. I searched and searched for almost an hour. I was beginning to lose hope. I then started expanding my search area and got up to the natural area and went around a small cedar tree when I get a VDI 51-53! I bend down and BOOM! There’s the shiny object I had been looking for!!! It had traveled from the street, through the cedar tree and landed about 8 inches from the base under it and under a bunch of leaves!

Ring lost at Fiesta Island Found

Angie and Steve came to San Diego to enjoy a day at Fiesta Island and the Over-The-Line Tournament going on yesterday. Angie removed her beautiful engagement ring to apply some lotion, set the ring in her lap, and…..well, you can guess the rest. The ring ended up in the soft sand and disappeared from view. They and others around them tried to find the ring, but, to no avail. Some consultation with others, an online search, contact with fellow RingFinder Curtis Cox further north and his referral to me, got the ball rolling. They were still there at the site, so, I gathered my gear and headed out for the normally short 10 mile journey…..and a journey it was. It took an hour to get there, and parking was virtually non-existent. I managed to squeeze between two vehicles parked at the edge of the road (with just a couple of inches on each side to spare) and park down on the beach. A short hike to meet Steve, and an even shorter hike to the search area. This event has been going on here for decades and always draws a huge crowd. The search area was right next to one of the dozens of ball fields, where spectators have been dropping pull tabs, bottle caps, and other metal trash from day one. I expected this to take a while to sift through. Steve and Angie cleared the area of chairs and other items while I fired up the detector and donned my gear. Sure enough, all sorts of signals were hitting my ears with just the slightest movement of the coil. One nice strong 12 on my Equinox alerted me to a shallow target after only a minute or two. I zeroed in on the signal with my pin pointer and pulled Angie’s « precious » out into the sunlight again. Cheers went up all around the area, and a very happy Angie and Steve can now travel home in a much better frame of mind. Ring Found, Orange Beach Al

Tess lost her absolutely beautiful wedding and engagement rings while vacationing at the beach. She and friends searched the beach for hours, sifting the sand with no success and it was getting dark. She called me at 9:30 that evening asking if I could help. After discussing details of when and where, it was the best guess than it was lost either on the sandy beach or in the water. I said I would help and I would be there at daylight. Tess met me just as the sun was up enough to see and reviewed the area to search. It was a fairly large area. I decided to search the beach first before lots of people showed up and before the umbrellas went up. The search took about 2 hours. When looking for a gold ring, depending on the metallurgy it could mimic just about any other commonly found metals. Because of that fact I had to dig every signal. I did lots of digging on that beach and did not find her ring. Next step was to search in the water. Fortunately there was not that many signals in the water. I think I dug about 10 targets before coming upon a weird signal, the target data kept jumping around suggesting a soda can but the signals could have been a gold too, so I started digging. Digging has to be done with care to avoid and damage to precious property. It took me three gentle scoops before the target was in my scoop. The entire time I was saying to myself this is a soda can, I know it’s a soda can, but knew I had to dig everything. To my amazement Tess’s cherished ring was there safe and sound. I learn something new just about every time I do a ring recovery, her ring was really three rings probably with different metallurgy!

Lost Mens 10kt Gold Wedding Band Found At Dewey Beach Delaware

On 06/02/2022, I received a call from Holly regarding the loss of a 10kt Gold Wedding Band belonging to her husband Timmothy. Holly said that Timmothy had lost his ring on 05/30/2022 on the beach at Dewey Beach, Delaware while he was shaking the sand off of a towel. Holly said that she and Timmothy had just gotten married and that his ring was a little loose on his finger. Holly said that they had rented a metal detector to try to find the lost ring and that they were not able to locate it. Holly also said that they had help from a local resident who volunteered to help look for the ring with his metal detector and that the ring was still not able to be found. Holly requested that I make an attempt to find the missing wedding band, she also said that they were leaving to go back home. I told Holly that I would try to find the ring later in the day and that I would let her know the outcome of the search. Holly was able to provide me with a photograph of her standing on the beach in the area that the ring was lost in. The picture also included a fence that gave me a reference as to where she was on the beach. Upon arriving at the beach later in the day I began a search of the area that was in the picture that Holly had sent to me, the search ended with the ring not being located. I then decided to expand the search area and began a search of the area to the north of the original search area. After just a few swings of my detector I was able to locate the missing ring on the wet sand slope about two inches down in the sand. I then sent Holly a picture of the recovered ring to let her know that it had been found. Two days later I mailed the ring back to Holly as she had requested.

Lost White Gold Mens Wedding Band In Laurel Delaware Found

On 05/30/2022, I received a call from Tim’s wife regarding the loss of his white gold wedding band and a request for help in locating the lost ring. I responded to Tim’s home in Laurel, Delaware at which time he told me that he had been working on his dump truck and that when he was done with the work he found that his wedding band was missing from his finger. Tim said that he did have rubber gloves on his hands and that he had checked the gloves and did not find the ring. Tim believed that his ring was somewhere in the grass under his truck in the driveway. I had Tim move his truck so that I could search the area where it had been parked. After a search of the area that the truck had been parked over as well as the area around it I was unable to find his ring. Tim then dumped out a trash can that he had been using, I searched the trash and again no sign of the lost ring. Tim then said that he had been cleaning out the pool filter in the backyard and asked me to search that area that was covered in leaves. I walked over to the pool filter at which time I located the missing ring next to the pool filter and then returned it to Tim.

The 4th of July passed without anyone calling for help in finding a lost item. Tuesday was a day for a walk in the ocean keeping up with exercise and keeping the old body moving. It was after three coins in the first hour before I heard a big target. My first scoop missed it, the second was taken with a bit more care not to mar the object which turned out to be an Apple iPhone 10. I continued on detecting with Leighton who was finding just a very few finds also.

Back at the car, the iPhone powered up but was locked and had almost no charge. We turned it off and went on to detect in a few freshwater ponds. At home I put the iPhone on the charger and after about a half an hour of charging I tried to power it up again. This time I saw a message on the screen that the phone had been reported as LOST. The best was the last sentence “Please call 508-xxx-xxxx”, which I did. Luckily the group had only started their way off Cape Cod heading home. They had been in traffic for about an hour, turned around and in less than a half hour they arrived at my home to retrieve the phone. A few quick pictures, a grateful hug and they were off on the trip back home again.

Justin, the owner of the phone that had been bought with his mother’s help had all of Justin’s photos and personal information which he was more than thrilled to have back. He had been on the beach, but not in the water and believes the phone fell out of his pocket. The tides over the 5 days it was in the salt water must have pulled the phone into about 3 feet of water where I found it. Had Justin’s friend, Colby, not put up the notice on the phone there would have been no way for me to unlock and retrieve any information that might have been used to return the phone. We all agreed that everyone should have this type of information on the startup screen or on an I.C.E. (In Case of Emergency) screen, just in case…

Gold Signet Ring Lost for Four Years-Found!

I received a call from Mike on Tuesday 28th and he said he had lost his gold signet ring in his backyard several years ago.  He said they were moving and the ring was a gift from his wife and he really wanted to find it before they moved.  We made arrangements for Wednesday afternoon.  Around four years ago he had been clearing brush in the backyard and towards the end of the day he noticed his ring was gone.  They had been piling the brush next to the street on the side yard, so that’s where I started my search.  I really didn’t think the ring would be there, but I had to eliminate that area of possibility.  The huge problem I had to deal with was underground power lines next to the street, (around 14 KV), and it was really messing with my detector.  I had to go very slow in that area until I got far enough away that my detector started to settle down a little.  After a little over an hour I finally eliminated the side yard.  The back of the house had a pretty steep slope that was covered in pine straw mulch.  I know from experience that pine straw on a slope can be very slippery.  He had mentioned that he had slipped a couple of times on that slope, but didn’t remember exactly where that happened.  That’s where I focused my attention next, and after I looked at it more carefully, towards the corner of the house the slope wasn’t quite as steep, so I figured anybody coming through that area would would pick that spot.  As I got halfway down the slope I got a consistent 12:20 on my CTX, and it was shallow, (showing one inch).  If you’re looking for a gold ring that’s a very good signal.  I brushed the straw away and didn’t see anything visible, but my pinpointer said there was something there just under the surface.  I brushed the soil a little with my fingers and saw the corner of a gold rim showing through!  I called Mike over, as he was just about to go back in the house.  His wife came out and she was elated!  She said she figured it was gone and never to be found again.  I think I was as excited as they were, because that was a tough search having to deal with the underground power lines.  Knowing your machine, and asking the right questions makes all the difference.  The entire search took around two hours.

I received a call about a lost earring stud with backing. Both was lost while trying to swat away a mosquito in a grass area. I schedule time to perform the hunt in the evening. Started the search with no luck then got a hit and while moving the grass aside there was the earring stud. Continue the search for the earring backing. After a few more minutes got another hit and there was the backing. They was very happy to have the gold diamond earring stud and backing returned to them.

Ring Lost in Coronado Found

Zari spent the day at the beach in Coronado, and when she was ready to go home, noticed her wedding ring/engagement ring combo was missing off her finger. She wasn’t sure if it came off in the dry sand building sand castles, or, out in the water where she was tumbled by a wave after introducing her daughter to her first experience in the surf. After an online search and finding TheRingFinders.com and my info, she contacted me Tuesday evening for help. Since there was a strong possibility that the ring could be in the water, I told Zari that it would be best if I conducted the search at the next low tide, which was at 4:38am the next morning. I had her send me some photos of her location on the beach along with a photo of the rings. Upon arrival the next morning at 2:30am, I triangulated the photos to get me on ground zero. Unfortunately, I discovered grid marks all over the sand in the area of where she had been camped the previous day and they lead down the slope toward the water. Not a good sign! Looks like someone has been there recently, but, that’s a very popular section of beach, so, not completely unexpected. I looked down the beach in both directions, and the grid marks are only 50 feet either way of ground zero. Nowhere else on the beach!  WTF? I’m thinking that someone somehow knew there must be a lost ring there. Well, I was already there, so, I may as well give it a try. I hit the dry sand first and didn’t get a single good target other than one zinc cent. Ok, off to the water. I made 4-5 passes into the surf without a single target. On the sixth pass just as I turned to head back up slope from shin deep water, I get a nice solid 10 on the Equinox, One scoop and I had the ring! I texted Zari with the good news, but, didn’t expect or get a response until later in the morning. After a bit of sleep, got up, and went off to another detecting adventure that morning, I arranged with Zari to meet later in the day and get the ring back on her finger.
