The day prior, Carl had been clearing snow in Mullica Hill, New Jersey, when his treasured diamond and gold chain, with a pendant, vanished into the snowy expanse. The following morning, Carl reached out to me with a phone call. Upon my arrival, I asked for additional details and set out with my metal detector to start the search. Buried under the thick blanket of snow, I detected a signal—it was the missing chain! Shortly after, the pendant was also uncovered.
It was a happy ending on a snow-covered day in Mullica Hill, NJ.

Lost wedding ring in Crandon Beach, Florida

Gabi called me to ask if I was available to help her find some lost rings. She and her fiancee had spent an evening enjoying some of the Orlando Florida attractions and as they were walking back to their car they had a disagreement and Gabi’s engagement ring and her fiancee’s ring ended up lost in the thick saint Augustine grass! They spent the rest of the evening and into the dark searching for their rings..and even went back the next day! Gabi decided to check into renting a metal detector and that is when she came across theringfinders.com website and after reading a couple of my stories she gave me a call and we were able to meet up that afternoon. I was hoping Gabi could bring her fiancee as well because it is most always best to get two people’s opinions on the situation instead of just one. After meeting up and driving to the location I began my search along a long stretch of grass just to the side of a busy road and soon realized that there were allot of targets that sounded similar to a lady’s gold ring. I asked Gabi what her ring was made of and she said she thought it was either white gold or silver, she wasn’t real sure. So I decided to investigate every shallow signal reading in the mid to high range and I used my pin pointer allot day! It took a good hour and a half to thoroughly cover the whole area and I could see that Gabi was beginning to lose hope of me ever finding their lost rings and then…BOOM! I got a sweet, shallow, small silver reading and at first glance I could only see some sort of tape or paper and after a closer look I saw a flash of a diamond. I reached down and picked up Gabi’s lost engagement ring and held it up for her to see and I asked, « Is this your ring? » Gabi was overcome with emotion and knelt beside me and gave me a long hug and all I could say was, « Thank you God for helping me find this young lady’s ring!! » Ten minutes later I got another solid, shallow high tone and there was Gabi’s fiancee’s ring down in the thick grass. This time I let Gabi use my pin pointer to do a final location and what a thrill to see the sheer joy and relief and happiness in her face!

Lost gold ring found
Tossing a cigar butt into the snow bank turned out to be a challenge for this Oneida store owner! « The Gold ring just flew off and ricocheted off the deck ballusters ». It did not take to long to find his ring, and he was quite happy to show me his store merchandise!

Elaine called me to ask for help finding her husbands wedding ring that was lost « somewhere » either in their home or outside of their house! (That sort of information usually indicates that a thorough search could take hours!) So we met Elaine and her husband Bill and asked lots of questions about the day his ring went missing. Bill had done a bunch of work in one of their rooms…like tearing up old carpeting and hauling it outside along with a big mattress and other items. One thing he did remember was when he was showering he recalled scrubbing his hands with a small scrub brush and while drying off he noticed that his ring was not on his finger. This is his wedding ring that he has worn for 46 years and he rarely takes it off. So we took up the drain cover in the shower thinking that just maybe it fell down the drain while scrubbing his hands and showering. But after running my endoscope down as far as possible and not seeing it we determined it must be somewhere else. We looked outside everywhere that Bill remembered going on that day and then we searched inside as much as possible. It is a large home…10,000 square feet to be exact so there was allot of area and after a few hours we called it quits.
I tried to encourage Bill and Elaine that there is always hope of finding it and not to give up hope. Reminding them to be sure to call me if and when they do find it! And….8 days later I get a call from Elaine saying they found it under a pile of old sheets and curtains that came out of the room that they are remodeling! It is always a pleasure to help folks find and locate their lost item whether I am able to find it myself or help them find it on their own.

Ringing In The New Year 2024, By Dave Milsted
I am not using the real names of this couple. I will call them Betty & Barney Rubble. Barney called me to see if I could help find some lost jewelry. He was referred to me by Fellow Ring Finder/Treasure Hunter Ed Cropski (he was out of town for the weekend). I work with a core group of excellent detectorists with much experience. If one of us gets a call and can’t make it, we give it to someone in our group.
Barney said his wife got very angry and walked out the back door to their deck, and Bam-Bam threw 2 silver bracelets, a gold wedding ring, and a gold engagement ring. Doing his own reconnaissance, he found 1 of the bracelets. I was near the neighbor’s fence beside a pile of wood rubble, reminding me of a gravel pit. The other 3 items are still missing.
Betty was out on their deck in the area where she was when she threw her jewelry. She looked very sad. After reviewing the angle of where Barney found the first bracelet and the scene, I told Barney that gold rings would travel farther than the lighter bracelet. I asked if his neighbors were okay with me searching their backyard. He said yes that he contacted them after our phone call. Betty went inside.
I started searching the neighbor’s yard. There were a lot of signals. There is a newer deck, and I was finding a ton of wood screws that are used in deck building. After about 12 minutes of searching, I started to look under the deck. I almost immediately found the engagement ring. It was under the deck. From where Betty threw the jewelry and the angle of where the ring was, it had to go through the open-backed stairs from the ground to the deck; if I threw it, it would have bounced off one of the steps. Lucky throw.
I intensified my search under the deck. It took another minute or two to find the missing bracelet. At this point, Barney had no idea I found either item. I asked him if he could hold my pinponter. He came over, and I held out my hand and dropped the engagement ring & bracelet into his hand. The look in his eyes was priceless.
I asked Barney if he would search on the deck for the other ring while I searched on the ground. I didn’t feel right searching up there with all of the windows. The neighbors know Barney, not me.
About 5 minutes went by, and Barney was standing next to me. He held out his hand that held the missing ring. My hunch paid off; it was laying on some covered furniture on the deck. He enjoyed the thrill of making the discovery.
Betty came out on their deck as I talked to Barney in the driveway. I told her to come down & get her jewelry. She was grinning from ear to ear. Barney and Betty are happy once again in Bedrock.

In the middle of high season the SeattleRingHunter gets another call out for a dock dropped iPhone in Lake Union. As this was a dock drop midweek with a busy schedule I opted to take some of my special recovery tools to see if we could “fish” the iPhone 11 off the bottom of the lake without having to do a SCUBA recovery. SCUBA recovery is a labor intensive endeavor requiring a lot of gear to be loaded, transported, as a full cold water diver there is a fair bit of gear used during the search including labor efforts for the tare down after the dive, proper post dive maintenance and stowing of my gear back at my hide out.
By picking the low hanging fruit first I can often times be more efficient on my recovery efforts. If a plan fails I gain some valuable knowledge on how to modify my process for the next go around. The reassuring comfort I carry is the fact that I have a fall back plan allowing me to offer a full underwater dive recovery effort as needed.

Lost cross on the beach, Atlantic City NJ, recovered by Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder
I received a call from Tomas about a cross he lost. He explained it was a huge sentimental item, and it was irreplaceable. We agreed I would head there early the next morning. He gave me all the information, including the marked location on the phone GPS. With that I figured it would be a simple recovery. Upon arrival i marked the location, and got to work. After no luck, I examined pics he sent with fixed objects on shore. I remarked the spot 35′ away, and after about 10 min. the cross was in my scoop.

Avalon NJ Lost Gold Blessed Mother Medallion Found by Ring Finders South Jersey

I received a text late last night from Yvette who told me about how she lost her Blessed Mother medallion while on the beach in Avalon, NJ the day before. The medallion belonged to Yvette’s grandmother and had been blessed by the Pope. I met Yvette and her friends on the beach to get the details and began my search. The beautiful medallion was found a few minutes later. Yvette was very happy to have it back and able to wear it again with great joy.
