Anthony was washing his very energetic dog in his back yard and when he was done he noticed that his wedding ring was not on his finger! He called me and explained that his ring was a bit loose and he was 98% sure of the exact location of where it must have fallen into the thick grass. He attempted to locate his lost wedding ring by pulling up the grass and when I arrived he had a four foot circle of dirt. He tried searching online for a metal detector and the first thing to pop up was one of my stories…so that is when he called. When I arrived I began searching around the bare spot and about 6 feet away I got an obvious ring signal and I gave Anthony my Garrett AT pro pin pointer and let him find and retrieve his own lost wedding ring. He was so thankful to have his lost wedding ring back once again!

Property stakes found by Florida Ring Finder, Mike McInroe, with a metal detector in Lake Mary Florida.

Pete was needing to locate two of his property stakes and gave me a call. With the help of a kind neighbor who loaned him a blue print copy of their subdivision with measurements and possible corner markers, we set about using my metal detector to find his missing property stakes. It took some digging and measuring but an hour later we were successful. It is always a pleasure helping people in need and Pete was thrilled as ever to find what he was desperately looking for.

Mike and his wife were enjoying their week at a condo in north Florida and somehow he dropped his favorite knife in the sand and it just disappeared without a trace. For the next few days he tried looking for it but the soft sand seemed to have swallowed it up and he pretty much gave up hope of ever seeing it again. My wife and I arrived on Wednesday to spend a few days with friends and of course I had brought my metal detector along and the first evening of our stay I grabbed my metal detector and Xtreme scoop and wandered down onto the beach. I started detecting around the nightly fire pit and that is when Mike and Debbie approached me and Mike told me about his lost pocket knife. I assured him that I would definitely be on the lookout and would let him know if I happened to dig it up. Two hours later and quite a ways down the beach I got a signal that sounded more iron than non-ferros but I chose to investigate none the less and after kicking away a few inches of sand…there was a black pocket knife that had the brand name of Kershaw on the belt clip. That was the exact brand that Mike said he had lost and he could not believe it when I showed him my discovery! Mike’s wife said he carries his knife where ever he goes and has had that knife for many years. It is made right here in America and Mike is carrying it again today!
Again I thank the Lord for helping me find and return Mike’s knife and for giving me the opportunity to be a blessing and being able to meet such a kind and lovely couple!

Gabi called me to ask if I was available to help her find some lost rings. She and her fiancee had spent an evening enjoying some of the Orlando Florida attractions and as they were walking back to their car they had a disagreement and Gabi’s engagement ring and her fiancee’s ring ended up lost in the thick saint Augustine grass! They spent the rest of the evening and into the dark searching for their rings..and even went back the next day! Gabi decided to check into renting a metal detector and that is when she came across theringfinders.com website and after reading a couple of my stories she gave me a call and we were able to meet up that afternoon. I was hoping Gabi could bring her fiancee as well because it is most always best to get two people’s opinions on the situation instead of just one. After meeting up and driving to the location I began my search along a long stretch of grass just to the side of a busy road and soon realized that there were allot of targets that sounded similar to a lady’s gold ring. I asked Gabi what her ring was made of and she said she thought it was either white gold or silver, she wasn’t real sure. So I decided to investigate every shallow signal reading in the mid to high range and I used my pin pointer allot day! It took a good hour and a half to thoroughly cover the whole area and I could see that Gabi was beginning to lose hope of me ever finding their lost rings and then…BOOM! I got a sweet, shallow, small silver reading and at first glance I could only see some sort of tape or paper and after a closer look I saw a flash of a diamond. I reached down and picked up Gabi’s lost engagement ring and held it up for her to see and I asked, « Is this your ring? » Gabi was overcome with emotion and knelt beside me and gave me a long hug and all I could say was, « Thank you God for helping me find this young lady’s ring!! » Ten minutes later I got another solid, shallow high tone and there was Gabi’s fiancee’s ring down in the thick grass. This time I let Gabi use my pin pointer to do a final location and what a thrill to see the sheer joy and relief and happiness in her face!

Lost ring in the water, Daytona Beach, Florida…found by Florida ring finder!

Rachel, from Alabama, was vacationing in Daytona Beach and one afternoon her and her family were in waist deep Atlantic ocean water hitting a volleyball back and forth and she felt her ring come off of her finger and watched as it disappeared in the waves. She was devastated and tried frantically to find it and after awhile someone spotted a man metal detecting along the beach. They approached the man, Wayne was his name, and asked if he could help them find Rachel’s lost silver and turquoise ring. Wayne tried his best but for some reason he could not locate it. Thoughtfully he asked Rachel for her contact number just in case he happened to find it at a later date and that gave Rachel some hope…but not much for she thought surely she would never see her ring again.

Ten days later I decided to hit the beach and do some metal detecting in the water and I often go to Daytona Beach and randomly pick a beach to hunt and on this day I chose the waters in front of the Hilton and the Club Wyndam Ocean Walk area. I usually like to detect in the water and on that particular day I found a couple of rings, coins and a few junk ear rings. During the day I spotted two other guys metal detecting and struck up a conversation with them and as is the custom we always ask one another… »Have you found anything good today? » So I pulled out my finds and when Wayne saw the silver and turquoise ring he said, « Hey, I think I know the lady who lost that ring! » And sure enough later that evening Wayne sent me the young lady’s phone number and she confirmed it was indeed her lost ring! How cool is that! So a few days later I boxed up Rachel’s ring and put it in the mail! She was thrilled to have her ring back and her beautiful smile says it all!

Ring thrown in lake, Kissimmee, Fl….Found and Returned to Owner!

Antwan and his dear fiance were having a bit of a rough time and out of frustration and anger he grabbed her engagement ring, walked out behind his house and stood on the edge of the lake contemplating what to do next. Some times common sense and good judgement prevail and other times a lack of good sense and angry feelings overwhelm the person and the dreaded throw takes place. And it didn’t take long for the regret and the old feeling of « What in the world did I just do? » to hit him square between the eyes—figuratively speaking!

He realized there was absolutely no way for him to retrieve the thrown ring so he went on line to look for someone who could possibly help him. And to his amazement he came across theringfinders.com. After reading some of the stories Antwan decided to give me a call and I agreed to meet him and do a search. Antwan said the water was only two or three feet deep so I went prepared to wade but after entering the water it was obviously allot deeper the further out I walked. I spent three hours digging cans and fishing lures along the shore and even went out up to my neck but I was not able to find his lost ring. I could tell Antwan was rather sad and I purposed to try again another day. So the following week I returned with my scuba gear and PVC grid frame and began a systematic search out into deeper water. My grid frame is 5 foot by 20 foot and that allows me to effectively search an 11 by 26 foot area very thoroughly and effectively. Two and a half hours into my search I got a loud large signal reading on my Pulse Dive with the 6 inch coil and I dug down 8 inches or so and still could not find the target so I continued on. I surfaced and moved my grid frame over 25 feet and continued my search. Going up the left side I reached the end of the grid in approximately 8 foot of water and got that same signal. I could tell it was the same target as I could feel the hole I had dug a few minutes earlier. As I continued sweeping the small coil across the muddy bottom I instantly got a sharp, small signal and digging my fingers into the mud I felt a small heavy object which was exactly what I was looking for! I immediately thanked my God for helping me find Antwan’s lost ring and calmly made my way to the surface. Five minutes later I rang the door bell and presented Antwan with his special ring! What a joy to see the relief and joy on his face and he was amazed at how beautiful his fiance’s ring actually was.

What an amazing experience and privilege it is to reunite someone with something so precious and sentimental! And it was truly an honor to help this hurting young man.

Lost wedding ring, St Pete, Fl…Found with an underwater metal detector!

Brandon and his father in law were enjoying a guys day out fishing under Johns Pass bridge when all of a sudden Brandon hooked a nice size red fish and managed to get it up onto the dock. The next challenge was to secure the fish for a decent photo and in the process Brandon got a bunch of fish slime on his hand. So what is ones natural instinct when your hand is covered in slime? You shake your hand in hopes that the slime will go sailing off, but more than slime went flying! Brandon was shocked when he felt his wedding ring slip off of his hand and doubly shocked when it landed out in the water. He could not believe what just happened and the thrill and excitement of catching a nice fish disappeared as the reality of what just took place started to sink in. The water was way to deep for Brandon to try his hand at recovering it and actually it was close to 17 feet deep with lots of rocks and concrete boulders and sand and a fairly swift current on top of it all.

This vacation was a much needed one for Brandon and his wife and in-laws as he had to miss last years special vacation due to his military deployment. And having been married for only two years he was having a very hard time dealing with the loss of his wedding ring and having to end their vacation on that bitter note. Later that evening Brandon was looking online for some help and typed in « Underwater ring searching » and up came theringfinders.com! Most all members of theringfinders can search yards, parks and shallow water ways but only a few of us are scuba certified and that was definitely what Brandon was needing. It was a two and a half hour drive to Johns Pass in St. Pete, Florida and after obtaining the proper permission we met and proceeded to set up on the dock under the bridge. I then took two PVC poles that I joined together in order to drive down into the bottom to mark the center of the dive area. Brandon said his ring could be in a 20 foot square area and I was hoping to somehow mark the bottom. Unfortunately the PVC pole was 4 foot short plus the bottom was very rocky with small areas of sand here and there. So I opted to follow one of the dock pilings to the bottom and then with my back to the piling I made my way along the bottom using my Nokta/Makro-Pulse Dive, handheld metal detector to scan for Brandon’s lost wedding ring. Right away it was obvious that it would be difficult as the concrete had rebar in each large block and the detector was picking up all kinds of signals. I slowly made my way forward, barely being able to see what was in front of me. I determined to check each signal and found some fishing sinkers and other large objects. Being the ring was lost the day before it seemed likely that it would not be buried very deep in the sand. For 15 minutes I scanned all around until I came to two large chunks of concrete and as I scanned over the top I noticed a small area of sand and it gave a sharp signal. I swam closer to see what it was and I could barely make out a small circular shaped object. As my hand closed over the item it was obvious that it was a ring. I had a hard time containing myself and let out an underwater scream of Praise!! I slowly ascended to the top and stuck my hand out of the water with the ring on my pinky finger. Brandon’s father in law was videoing with his Gopro and Brandon was in total shock! He could not believe it was his ring and asked me what kind of markings it had on it. I told him and he still seemed dubious!

How I thank God for allowing me to find Brandon’s lost wedding ring and for keeping me safe during the whole ordeal!

Lost pocket knife and key in grass, Central Florida….Found and Returned!

Two weeks ago my good friend Mr. Jack lost a pocket knife and single key while playing with our neighbors young dog. Mr. Jack and his dear wife are winter volunteers here at our retirement center and willingly work daily to help out on the grounds maintenance and cleaning. Mr. Jack has years of experience mowing lawns, trimming trees and taking care of plants in general. And he has a habit of always carrying two pocket knives in his pockets and his trailer key and when he lost those two items he was a bit concerned.

So many times people loose something in the grass, in their garden, in the water or at the park and after looking for awhile they give up hope of ever finding it and they walk away thinking they will never see it again. Thankfully theringfinders.com is here to give these people hope and help in these types of situations.

Like last Thursday while I was using a metal detector to locate a buried manhole cover when Mr. Jack told me about his lost pocket knife and key. And he was curious to know if I could find them for him and I assured him that the chances were very good if….he could put me in close proximity to where he lost them. He showed me the thick grassy area and I took three swings with my metal detector and got a really good signal and BOOM…there was his trailer key! Three more swings and BEEP, BEEP…up came his favorite pocket knife!

Lost ring in the water, Lake Tibet, Orlando, Fl…..Found and Returned!

Greg called me about a ring that his girl friend had accidentally dropped in a lake and mentioned it was only in a few feet of water. I explained how I normally retrieve lost rings and he assured me he knew exactly where it fell off of the dock and into the water. He said his girl friend had used a mask and tried to locate the ring but was unsuccessful. It had been lost almost a month prior to our conversation and I assured Greg that the ring was most likely in the same spot where it originally fell.

Three days later I met Greg at the location and the first thing I did was to check the exact depth of the water at the drop site and it turned out to be more like 6 to 7 feet deep. Unfortunately I had not brought my scuba tank, dive hose and regulator but I did have my mask and snorkel. So I figured it was another good opportunity to practice diving and holding my breath….once again!

By using my PVC pole stuck into the soft lake bottom where Greg said the ring had fallen, I was able to work my water proof Garrett pro pointer around the pole checking every metal signal. I found various bolts and such and on the 3rd dive I got a good signal and could only grab a handful of mud, shells and debris and as I sorted through the material my hand felt Greg’s lost ring! As I surfaced I rinsed the ring off and was amazed by the unique design and beauty. Greg was thrilled and very thankful to see his girl friend’s lost ring again and I was honored to be the one to find it for them.

Tuesday evening David was working in his yard cleaning up and stuffing branches and sticks into one of his garbage containers when he felt his wedding ring slip off of his finger. He was not sure if it fell into the container or into the grass somewhere. He desperately searched all over thinking surely he could find it and then frustration and darkness brought his search to an end. Here is David’s account of what took place.
