Today I received a call from a young lady who told me the story about how she lost her ring one week ago at coffee shop called Waves in Steveston in Richmond. She said she had the ring on while she was having coffee, she was showing it to her two friends then she went outside, gave hugs and went to her car and that’s when she noticed it was gone!The sad thing was the ring was too big for her finger and she knew it but she wanted to show her friends. After coffee she was going to go to the jewelry store and have it resized to fit her finger. The ring was her late mother-in-law’s and you can imagine how heartbroken she was.Well after a few question we set a time to meet today and when I got to the coffee shop there wasn’t really much to search but what there was I was ready to give it 100%  It took a good 30 minutes and some detective work and after the second search in the same area the ring showed itself under a big shrub!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI think the first search under that shrub it was caught in the grass blades and after shaking it the second time it fell to the ground below…What a great feeling for both of us when the ring showed itself!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI think we were both surprised because we started thinking that it must have been picked up by someone who saw it on the sidewalk…I hate to give up on a search and I’m glad I didn’t. I love my job!Lost your ring…Call me ASAP! »Renting a metal detector is hard. Lost Ring … Doheny Beach, Dana Point, CA. … Found in Sand

Just after finding the two rings that Jordin lost in Newport Beach, I recieved a phone call from Kattie.  She had been searching the internet to rent a metal detector. She got a hold of a dealer in New Jersey, Demarco Detector Sales. Joe Demarco told her about TheRingFinders and Kattie called me.

I was able to set an 11:00am meeting at Doheny Beach which is in Dana Point, CA. Kattie and her friend Rene drove down from Marina Del Rey, CA. which is probably 60 miles the other side of Los Angeles. I drove about 25 miles to meet them.

When they got there, I was told that Sunday they came to Doheny Beach so Kattie could do a some surfing. Doheny is a great place to learn to surf. When Kattie went into the ocean she gave her ring to Rene for safe keeping. Rene put it on her finger and not being use to wearing a ring she did not notice that the ring had slipped off her finger until after Kattie came out of the water.

The best part of the story was Rene had remembered exactly where she had been and I was able to find the ring within a few minutes. They both were very excited and really didn’t believe I could find it. Then they both gave me giant hugs. Rene was no longer guilty and the ring was back on Kattie’s finger where it belongs.. It was a pleasure to help two very nice ladies. They took a few minutes to listen to my RingFinders stories and do the photo opp, which is part of my deal with them..

How To Find A Lost Ring At Spanish Banks Dog Park, Vancouver

Today I went out on a ring search at Spanish Banks dog park in Vancouver. I talked to Patrick over the phone and he gave me the details in regards to where he believed the ring was lost and how to get there. He sent me a google earth picture of the location and that sure helped! But that being said you still have to ask the question or you could be out by a little and that’s all it takes when you’re looking for something so small.He told me that I was looking for a white gold ring with six small diamonds that he lost while throwing a ball for his dog. He told me soon after he realized his ring came off the whole group of people he was with doing exercises held hands and formed a long line (15 people across) and did a grid search of the area…trying to eyeball the ring. Unfortunately the ring was not found so Patrick went home and found a place to rent a metal detector and came back and searched for five hours with no luck…A little about metal detector rentals…Yes, you can rent a metal detector but in most cases if you’ve never used one it may be a little overwhelming with all the signals that you are getting. Lost Diamond Wedding Band in Deep Cove, North Vancouver

Last week I received a call from a young man that told me that his mother lost her wedding band in their back yard. He wanted to surprise her by having me find it before his mother & father got back home from holidays.Unfortunately by the time I got there it was getting dark and I found out that the most likely place the ring could be would be under their patio.I tried searching the first time and was covered with spiderwebs and spiders, although they don’t bother me it becomes a bit of a pain with out a hat and proper gear.I had to schedule a time to meet the following weekend in order to have a good shot at finding this ring. Platinum Wedding Ring found and returned in Lake Shore Park Chicago

Received an email from a young man who lost his Platinum wedding band last Thursday while playing softball in the Lake Shore Park, behind the Museum of Contemporary Art, in Chicago. He had never taken it off in nine years. His weight loss, combined with his enthusiastic softball playing, resulted in the loss on his ring. He had conducted a search himself with his new Ace 150, which he had just purchased from Windy City Metal Detectors in Chicago. He was unsuccessful in his endeavor.

Next step: contact a RING FINDER!

At 6:00 AM I met him at the ball field. He had been playing right-field, but didn’t know if he had lost it while Batting or walking around. The outfield was all lush grass as you can see in the backgound . After 2 hours of searching I located his ring. His comment: « thats just about where I was standing » He has been converted to  a metal detectorist! His wife who had been a little skeptic of finding it, was delighted also.

Mourning Ring Found for owner in Wicker Park Area Chicago

Last week I received a call from a young women who believed she lost a mourning ring while walking to work. Yes a Mourning Ring, not morning ring. I must admit I had never heard of one. For those of you who have never heard of a Mourning Ring let me explain.

This Mourning ring was made in the 1890’s in England. It was made from 15K gold, not 14K gold, and was custom made with a lock of hair encased in the setting. The current owner is attempting to research for whom the ring was made and who is the deceased person that that person was in mourning for. It has small pearls boarding a stone under which is held a locket of hair. It also has a number of hallmarks on the inside of the ring. It has the initials of the deceased. If I find out more, I will update this post.

After searching the walkways for about 1/2 mile with detector and rake, we discovered the ring on the sidewalk. Since the area sidewalks had been searched several times, it is my opinion that while raking productive sounding targets, I flipped the ring out onto the center of the sidewalk. We discovered it while walking back to the original starting place. Needless to say, the owner who had purchased the ring recently, was delighted to be reunited with it.

Metal Detecting For a Lost Diamond Ring at a Vancouver Beach

Its been a very hard week due to the loss of my wife’s father, we’ll miss him very much!I was away for the past week dealing with the preparations of the service and I had 3 calls and 2 that I passed on to others Ring Finders, after I arrived home late last night I was able to do a search for a diamond wedding ring that was lost on Spanish Banks Beach here in Vancouver.

I was extremely exhausted but looking very forward to getting away to the beach and and helping someone find their lost smile as this is more like relaxation for me.I met with Mary at 11pm and she showed me where her wife lost her ring and it took me a little over an hour to find it.

It would have been a quicker search but due to the fact that it was late and dark it took a while for Mary to put me in the correct area but when she did it only took minutes and we found the ring and I got to see her big smile!

Thank you very much for the generous reward Mary it helps me with my gas money and equipment and 15 % of the reward money goes to charity… Children’s Hospital

Lost Wedding Ring on Her Wedding Day in Stanley Park, Vancouver.

The call came in Saturday afternoon and the young man said that his wife had lost her wedding ring at Stanley Park while taking wedding photos. He asked if I could come out and take a look and I said that I could be there in two hours as I was visiting my dad who lives a good hour plus from Vancouver.

I grabbed my detector and headed for the park and when I got there I received a call from the young man who I thought was going to meet me there to show me the area but as we talked I realized he was the groom and it was his bride that lost the ring.

They were at the reception celebrating and he told me over the phone where he knew the ring was lost and I thought I was in the right area but not 100% sure. After 3 1/2 hours I packed it up until the next morning when I received a call from her bridesmaid.

We met up and she was able to show me the area that they were taking pictures and she told me the story about the ring that was lost…It was the brides great-grandmothers ring that was handed down to the brides grandmother then past on to the brides mother and her mother gave it to her on her wedding day.

 

 

This would make the ring extremely sentimental and to lose it on that special day just broke her heart.  After getting good directions of where they were and what they were doing I was able to utilize my process of elimination and shortly after three hours I found her great-grandmothers wedding ring.

College ring lost in Elmhurst College parking lot found.

I was contacted by a student who had lost his ring in the snow at his college parking lot. He lost it when he threw a snowball. He lost it almost a week ago. I told him I would come out immediately, since we were expecting  a heavy snow in a few hours. I knew that if we didn’t find it now, we might not find it til spring. The ring was found in a bank of snow that the snow plow had pushed to the side. Very lucky that he found it.imageimage

Lost Ring Found at Erin’s Snug Irish Pub, Madison WI

I typically look forward to getting calls from The Ring Finders directory for lost rings, lost keys, lost cell phones, you name it.  However, on this day I was a little hesitant to answer the phone.  You see, it was not just a typical WI winter day … it was -10 degrees below zero outside!  Brandon had lost his ring in the parking lot of Erin’s Snug Irish Pub and Restaurant in Madison, WI.   On the call, he explained that he was wiping the snow off his windshield wipers when he lost his ring.  He did not have any gloves on (what was he thinking!) and when he went to flick the snow off his hand … he ring flew off.  He knew right where it was, but after digging for awhile gave up.

Gold is extremely heavy, and when dropped into a snow bank, will drop pretty quickly to the bottom.  Even though Brandon saw the entry point, he could not find the lost ring in the 4 foot snow bank.  He searched on Google hoping to rent a metal detector the next day.  He entered a bunch of different phrases, « rent metal detector », « metal detector rental » and « how to find my lost ring ».  Fortunately for him, he found The Ring Finders Page and my blog. http://theringfinders.com/blog/Dan.Roekle/.  He said he couldn’t believe such a service even existed, and there was a member right in Madison.  He couldn’t believe it.  He also couldn’t believe that I was willing to head out that same day … the same day that it was -10 degrees below zero!

I brought my son along on the hunt, and after bundling up, we headed out.  We hunted in 5 min increments, because it was that cold.  I am a pretty tough guy when it comes to cold weather, but with temps -10 below zero, you don’t want to mess around.  We kept our van running to warm up.  The problem with hunting in a parking lot in the winter, is that all the junk from the parking lot is picked up by the snow plows and dropped right on the curb.  This is of course right where Brandon lost his ring.

My son and I are usually not quick to give up, we don’t like to leave a lost ring that we know is within reach.  However, did I mention it was cold.  We agreed to do one more 5 min search.  Good thing we did, because we got a strong signal on the metal detector … and pulled out Brandon’s ring.  We didn’t even look at it closely as we both ran to the van to warm up.  Our first stop was McDonald’s for some hot chocolate, then to Brandon’s house to return the ring.  He gave us a very generous reward for our hard work and an extra bonus seeing it was so cold.  He could not have been more appreciative for our hard work and for finding his lost wedding ring.

Remember, don’t rent a metal detector, rent a Ring Finder!
