I got a call from a distressed woman saying that she had lost her diamond and gold wedding band and requested my help. She explained that the waves hit her and knocked her down. And in the process her ring came off.  She also explained that she had to leave the following morning at 0600. So I tried to get as much information as possible. but was unsuccessful on day one and two but day 3 and talking with her for 1/2 hour or so I was finally  successful.

Lost ring at Mission Beach found.

Tim and his family were spending the day at Mission Beach on Thursday. He had set up a tent and was soon informed that camping tents were not allowed. In his haste to strike the tent and gather the gear, apparently, his ring came off. When he discovered it missing, naturally, they all looked in the bags, gear, tent, and sand, but. no ring. I get the call on Saturday in the early afternoon. They had returned to the beach at the same location hoping to find the ring. Knowing the traffic and parking nightmare that is Mission Beach on a Saturday afternoon, I was able to convince the wife to come along so she could drop me off and then look for the mythical parking spot. All worked as planned, and after meeting the wife and kids, getting the low down on how the ring was lost, and being shown the search area, I begun my search. Maybe 15 seconds later, I get my first target, a solid 21 on the Equinox, and scooped up his cobalt (only my second one of these) wedding ring. Tim got me right on the spot! Everyone was thrilled and better able to enjoy the rest of the day. My wife hadn’t found that theoretical parking spot yet, so, she circled around, came back, and picked me up. Drive time, over an hour, recovery time less than a minute! A pleasure meeting you all, and thank you for the reward.

Lost ring in Cape May, NJ FOUND!

Received a call for a gold / diamond wedding band that was flung off a beach towel into the sand. After speaking with the client and conducting a brief hunt, the ring was back in the clients possession. All smiles.

South Mission Beach ring recovery

Neiva decided to play some volleyball and soon discovered that her ring was hurting her finger, so, she removed it. After the game she tried to put the ring back on, but, found her finger had swelled a bit and wouldn’t allow that. The ring was then thought to have been placed in her bag, but, apparently it was left on the blanket. Later when getting ready to leave, Neiva picked up the blanket and gave it a shake to remove the sand. When she searched for her ring, it wasn’t in the bag, and obviously now, wasn’t on the blanket either. She and her friends searched with their fingers sifting through the sand, but, could find the ring. Neiva Googled for help, and my name came up. Being a sunny Sunday afternoon during the summer, I knew the beach traffic and parking was going to be a nightmare, but, headed into the fray anyway. Sure enough, traffic was backed up, and once I got to the beach, dozens of cars were circling the lots waiting for an opening. I finally found a spot and headed to the volleyball court to meet Neiva. She showed me the area where she had her blanket and bag, and I began my search. First target read a nice solid 10 on my Equinox, but, turned out to be part of a pull tab. Next signal was a solid 6 and was her ring. A happy Neiva could now join me in the traffic and head home. A pleasure meeting you and thank you for the reward.

Lost ring found at Mission Bay

Lindsey was guilty of the most common cause of lost rings at the beach. She took her rose gold ring off to apply lotion, set the ring in her lab, and then forgot about it until sometime after she had stood up. After realizing what had happened, she and others looked through the sand hoping to recover it. After that failed to locate the ring, she called a local detector rental shop and tried her hand at finding it that way. After 3 hours and nothing but scrap metal, she returned the detector and was advised by them to contact TheRingFinders.com. She initially got a hold of  Curtis Cox in Carlsbad. He was out of town and referred her to me. My wife and I headed to the site and met Lindsey who explained the situation and showed us the search area, which was mainly a reasonably small sized section of dry sand overlooking Mission Bay. Lindsey had to leave for a while and left me to do my best. After covering the dry sand section in one direction parallel to the water and coming up empty, I started at the beginning again at 90 degrees from the first. My first pass went closer to the water than previous passes and over some wet sand, but, it was on the return of that pass that I got the sound I wanted still in the wet sand. After some cheers from other folks on the beach who knew about the lost ring, I texted Lindsey with the good news. I went and rinsed the ring of sand and let everyone oooh and aaah over it while waiting for Lindsey to return. Needless to say, Lindsey was very happy to get this family heirloom back on her finger. A pleasure to met you Lindsey and thank you for the reward.

Lost ring Cape May, NJ….FOUND!

The client explained that at some point this evening she believed that she may have dropped her ring in the sand while at the beach with her brother whom was taking aerial photos of the sunset. The client realized the ring was gone while at dinner so the area it was lost was potentially anywhere between her home, the beach, and the diner (several miles total). After meeting up we took a ride down and the client approximated the search area. After 15-20 minutes the ring was back on the clients finger, much to her relief.

Clients review of service: « This evening I attempted to enjoy the sunset at the cove in Cape May. As I was leaving I realized my $6000.00 wedding ring fell off. I was so upset obviously and was referred to Jeff Laag to help with the recovery. Jeff answered my call immediately and was at my house in no time. It wasn’t until I went back down to the cove with him and pointed out the rather large area I was roaming around, that I realized it was probably a pretty bleak chance he was going to find it. He began his search when about 15 minutes or so he asked me to once again describe it. When I provided him with the description, he pulled out my ring he found in the sand!!! Lost Rings at Night! – Pensacola Beach – FOUND!

Well, I’m not sure if this counts as 2 rings or more but I am sure that Kelly and Bill are absolutely thrilled that I was able to put them back on her hands where they belong. Kelly and Bill have been married for 25 years and have been down vacationing from Michigan. Kelly folded her rings into her swimsuit early in the day for safekeeping and forgot they were there when she got up later to meet her sister. You can imagine her shock when she realized they were gone that evening. Kelly went ahead and called me even though it was nighttime and I’m glad she didn’t wait. Bill had gone out with a sand flea rake for fishing and combed the area already to no avail. I told him later that he had actually just made the rings go deeper and deeper every time he disturbed the sand because of the density of gold. Luckily for Kelly and Bill, I have a wonderful wife and even though we were at dinner 30 minutes away, she offered to ride with me and we immediately went home and grabbed my gear. I met Bill in the parking lot and he walked me down to the area he thought they had lost them. I could see all of the rake marks and I told Bill I would start my search there and then fan out if needed. I absolutely love night searches on the beach. It’s nice and cool and you can hear the waves over the hum of the machine in my headphones. You can enjoy the stars without bumping into sunbathers and it’s just a great time to enjoy what I do. I also knew that I had a very anxious couple waiting on the outcome so I was very glad that as I made my first pass I heard a faint gold sound. I was a little surprised at how deep it was even though I knew Bill had thoroughly raked the area. When my first gentle scoop to five inches came back empty I thought to myself that they were very lucky they called me and I had the machine that I was using. The second scoop was the charm and I reached down and dug the first ring out of the scoop to make sure I didn’t scratch it. When I saw that I had them both in the scoop, I smiled and handed them to Bill. With a shaky hand, he asked me to hold the light and he took a picture and sent it to Kelly in the room so she could stop worrying immediately. We walked back up and told my wife that I was already done in less than 10 minutes and Bill asked us both to come up and meet Kelly. When we walked in the door I was quickly reminded why I do this. Bill and Kelly both got choked up remembering how much those rings had been a part of over the last 25 years. I was glad that my wife got to witness that and I hope Bill and Kelly have many, many more happy years together. ??

Keys found in Chula Vista

Angela called me to help find her lost keys. It was dark, she and her husband were outside his car in the parking lot where they lived. Angela attempted to throw her keys over to top of the car to her husband on the other side. The keys didn’t make it! They hit the top of the car and bounced somewhere. They searched the parking lot, sidewalk, and landscaping the best they could in the dark using a flashlight, but, didn’t have any luck. They searched again the next day, even cleaning out dead leaves and branches from the bushes along the sidewalk. Still no luck. Next in the process was to buy a metal detector and try again. They had « fun » removing everything imaginable from the ground cover and bushes, but, the keys just wouldn’t speak up. Eventually, they heard about The Ring Finders and gave me a call.

I met Angela at the parking lot around noon and got the low down on how the keys were lost. I started by searching all the ground area in and around the bushes and all along the sidewalk. No luck. I ran the coil over the surface of the bushes and even in the overhanging tree branches, but, still nothing. Next, I started at one end and started shaking all the bushes as hard as I dared, hoping to hear the tinkle of keys or to hopefully convince the bushes to let go of them. We made it all the way to the other end without success, but, while walking back toward where we started Angela looked down and spied them right under the corner of one of the bushes. Yes! Don’t know how we missed them at the time we were at that bush, but, hey, they’re now back where they belong, so, that’s what counts. A very happy Angela called her husband with the good news and both gratefully thanked me. A pleasure to meet you Angela and thank you for the reward.

LOST ENGAGEMENT RING BATON ROUGE, LA. – FOUND

Taloria called late Saturday afternoon looking for help in finding her lost engagement ring. It was too late to drive the 1 ½ hrs to Baton Rouge and get any hunting in before dark, so we set up to meet early the next morning. When we arrived at the site, Taloria said she was on her way to a party with friends when she placed her engagement ring on her lap to apply some hand lotion. When they had parked in the grassy field, she exited the car not thinking about the ring. When she realized the ring was gone, she hunted in and around the car but did not find it. She then called us to help. Being she knew where the car was parked, the search area was small. The problems were tall grass and lots of trash (foil, pull tabs, drink containers, etc.). The hunt was very tedious.  Sid got tired of the constant up and down to check out hits. He got on his hands and knees and crawled around using the pin pointer. The technique worked. A hit with the pointer and glints of shiny metal proved to be the ring. Taloria (also Carrie and Sid) were very excited. After reuniting Taloria with her beautiful ring, lots of hugs, lots of smiles, and lots of pictures, we all headed home.
