Saturday morning I received a call from a man named Vinary who’s wife had lost her ring at the beach the previous day.He was thinking about renting or buying a Detector but I explained that would be a big gamble as metal Detector machines require some experience not too mention the ones that could be rented or bought at a local store are cheap plus not waterproof. He made the right choice though and we ended up meeting later in the day at Torrey pines beach.They showed me a 200’ area where she was throwing a frisbee when she saw her Gold ring fly into the waters edge.
I began my grid search in the most probable place which was from the beginning of the dry sand and down too about knee deep in water. After 15-20 min I was getting worried I wouldn’t be able to find it because there was a hungry trough at the bottom of the slope with cobble rocks tumbling back and fourth. Then just after swinging with my head down I get a low tone signal on my Metal Detector…And there was her ring buried in 4” inches of wet sand just above the trough! They came over after I dug it up ecstatic with hugs and smiles.

This Ring was a gift handed down from Nandin’s mother and was very sentimental!

Engagement Ring Lost on Los Angeles Street…Found and Happily Returned.

Michelle called yesterday. She believed she had lost her engagement ring while walking down the street swatting at some leaves that were extending into the sidewalk. It was the only likely area, because it was the only area with a lot of vegetation, and with her hand motions combined, sounded like the ideal situation. We agreed to meet this morning to do the search.

I got to the spot and contacted Michelle to let her know I had arrived. She immediately came over and took me to the area of the possible loss. It definitely looked at though it could have swallowed her ring. There was a lot of over and under growth as well as dead leaves to hide her ring. I then asked her to recreate what she did the night before which showed me where her ring could have flown to. I began where she had started swatting the leaves finding numerous items of metal, many good signals but mostly foil, but no ring. At the very end of the bushes I received another good signal, and putting in my pin pointer to find the item, and moving the leaves around, there it was, Michelle’s ring which I promptly held up for her. She was so surprised and elated, but with a bit of disbelief not thinking it could have been found. She had received this ring from her fiancé while she was still in school waiting for graduation to get married. She had just recently graduated, and was looking forward to arranging the wedding when this loss occurred. It’s so great to restore the joy to people who lose it so quickly.

Electronic Car Key Lost in Horse Arena in Griffith Park, Los Angele, CA…Found and Happily Returned.

Kathrine called yesterday morning explaining how she had been working training horses at the Griffith park horse arena when she received a phone call. When she removed her phone for the call, unknowingly her electronic car key came out and fell into the soft sand of the arena. She had gone back with a rake later to try and recover the key, but with no luck. She was able to locate me on the internet, not really believing a service like this even existed. When I talked with her and asked a few questions, it did sound like a good chance of a recovery, so we arranged to meet at the arena as soon as I could get there.

I got to the park, I met with Kathrine, and she took me over to the arena. When I saw it, it was a very large expanse of sand, fine and deep like the beach. We tried to narrow down the search area. She showed me the approximate spot where she used the phone, so I decided to break up the arena into 4ths, and do a search for each quarter of it. After doing the first 4th with no results, and watching Kathrine doing a little searching on her own, I noticed she was sticking to the outside rail of the arena. I then found out that most of the training the day before had been on the outer perimeter rather than the internal part of the pen. I told her that I was going to change my search method, and search the outer portion first and spiral in as I made each pass. About 5 minutes later I received a good signal and dug, and there in the bottom of my scoop was her key. She was so surprised, and so happy to have her key back, it was the only one she had access to at this time and was dreading having to purchase another. What a wonderful smile, you bet! It was great to make Kathrine’s day yesterday.

Lost Platinum Ring with Tourmaline Stone at El Matador State Beach, Malibu, CA .. Found in Sand

Timothy had been at El Matador State Beach for an early morning walkout. He came to a place where the beach had eroded creating a five foot embankment. When he jumped to the lower level, he feel backward with his hands in the sand. Right away he noticed his unique Platinum/Palladium with a Tourmaline Stone was not on his finger. After spending time searching the small area he started to second guess himself. Possibly he had left his ring at home that morning?

Timothy called me explaining his story. He was on his way to check his house that was only a half hour away. We still had time to search the beach location but soon it would be high tide. My drive would take an hour and a half so I started the drive. Timothy had given me great directions as to where he had been at the beach. I believed I could find location without him meeting me there.

After arriving and not hearing anything from Timothy about his search at his home, I went down the many stairs to beach walking about a quarter mile till a found the embankment he described to me over the phone. Then I began searching with my metal detector. There was several places where the sand was knocked down which may bury a ring out of range of my detector. This time we were lucky and I got the signal I was looking for, a Big Bang. at the bottom of my sand scoop was Timothy’s awesome ring.

I sent him a text with a photo of his ring. We set up a meeting place which was on my way home and near where he lives. We had a nice visit and he kept looking at his ring that made me feel this was very special to him. It was pleasure to meet him and help him find his sentimental ring.

Lost Platinum Wedding Band at Shorebird Waikiki Beach…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a call from Carlo who was on vacation from Seattle Washington and enjoying the day with his lovely wife Lizzie on Waikiki Beach. Lizzie was putting on suntan lotion and took her rings off to apply. When she got up from her chair the rings fell into the sand. She and Carlo were able to spot the engagement ring but the platinum wedding ring disappeared. After a futile 30 minute search Carlo & Lizzie decidedto search the internet and found the ring finders and gave me a call. It was quitting time at work so I told Carlo to relax on the beach and I would be there after I picked up my gear from home. I was lucky enough to find parking when I arrived and Carlo & Lizzie were about a 5 minute walk down the beach from Hilton Hawaiian Village, As I arrived Carlo and Lizzie helped me clear the area of the metal lounge chairs and then I fired up the Excal. In less then 10 seconds I had a nice tone that was growling like Platinum. One scoop down and there was Lizzie’s wedding ring. Its great to happen so quickly but sometimes we enjoy a little hunting time. They texted me later that « Your kind service saved our trip ». Aloha to Carlo & Lizzie.

Ring lost at Mission Beach found

Eric realized he shouldn’t play around in the sand with his wedding ring on, so, he thought it wiser to take it off and let someone else hold on to it until he was done. Little did he know that the person he handed it to would be the one to lose it in the sand. They knew approximately where it should be, but, sifting through the sand with their fingers and even borrowing a metal detector from the lifeguards didn’t help bring it to light. Off to the internet and a hit on TheRingFinders.com website. A quick look at the map and my name is listed for Mission Beach. I get the call about 8:15pm and arrange to meet Eric at 8:45pm at the site. We meet and I get the low down on how/where it was lost and what we’re looking for. On my first pass and only a couple of minutes later, I get a promising signal. Yup, it’s what we’re looking for. Both Eric and his friend are happy and relieved to get the ring back. Pleasure to meet you both and thank you for the reward.

Lost Tiffany Ring in Yard .. Newport Beach, CA. .. Found

Janet called me the other evening just before dark. She ask my help to find her daughter’s silver Tiffany mesh ring. Lost in the front yard of their home. They live less than a mile from my location and there was enough light to begin the search, so I met them shortly after the call.

Hanna was there to show me where she had pinched her hand while shutting the front gate. She shook her hand and her ring went flying somewhere in the front yard grass, the landscape garden or the driveway. She thought she heard it land in the garden.

They had moved the cars in the driveway and visually searched the cement areas. I searched the lawn and the garden with my normal metal detector and the handheld pinpointer. Paying attention to the plants that the ring could have hung up. Double checking the brick type fence post there was about a one inch space underneath the first brick. That was where Hanna’s ring was hiding. 

Everybody was surprised the they had not spotted the ring while searching earlier in the day when it was light. We eliminated the other possible locations which caused us to double check previously searched areas.

Hanna’s smile shows how happy she was to have her ring back where it belongs.

Grandmother’s Silver Ring lost in the wilderness last summer, recovered!

On March 21st, I received an email from a person named Kate, who had lost a vintage silver ring last summer while wilderness camping near the two-hearted river in Upper Michigan. It was her grandmother’s ring, and her fiance had been wearing it on a chain around his neck for seven years. They planned on getting married soon, and needed the ring to design their wedding bands. I explained that the trip would be pretty far, but she offered to pay expenses. Finally, we heard the snow melted there, so decided to leave. My detectorist friend, Brian,  and I drove there last Friday. Brian did the driving because his vehicle has better climate control and he can see deer better. We drove, and drove, and drove. It was about 500 miles, plus an extra 60-mile trip to get a park pass from the State DNR Park office, plus kind of getting lost a few times because GPS, two phones, and a few maps all said different things. Finally, we found the camp site coordinates on Brian’s portable GPS, hiked a ways to it, and he found the ring! We celebrated with a couple of Yuengling beers. Taquamenon Falls was amazing, and the campsite was pretty cool, too.

Memorial Weekend Ring Recovery in Record Time

On Saturday, May 26th, 2018, Brad contacted me to say he had lost his wedding band at a popular sandbar while throwing a football with his family.   He called a friend who metal detects, who lived too far away to drive, but recommended me.   I tried to find someone who would be at the lake, but nobody was available.  So, I quick popped in the car and drove about 75 miles to the cottage.  The entire family rode out to the sand bar with me to witness the search.  They were all very nice, though worried it might never be found.  Luckily, they had marked the spot using GPS on a cell phone, so we knew we were close.  Well, maybe not, as opinions differed as to which direction the 14k ring had flown.  Gold can grow wings when it catches on a football!   After about 20 minutes of pattern searching, a handful of pop tabs and a few coins, I heard what I thought was another pop tab signal in my AT Pro Headphones.  A beautiful wedding band with inlaid diamonds appeared in the scoop, and Brad plucked it out with a big smile!   His finger needed that ring back on it after 21 years!   It was well-worth the drive to make Brad and his wife happy!

Gun Lake gives up a big gold ring.

Drew and Kristin were out boating with friends yesterday and stopped in the sandy shallow area of Gun Lake to play in the water.  After horsing around for awhile, Drew noticed his ring was missing.  They had just been married in October of last year, and this ring was very special to both of them.  Thankfully, before they left the lake they had the great good sense to use plastic bags to mark the trees at either end of the area to search.  When Gregg Larabel, my fellow Ringfinder and I met them at the lake early this morning, those bags left no doubt about where to search.  In about 30 minutes this huge gold ring showed up in my scoop.  After a very sad and stressful evening Drew and Kristin had their smiles back again.
