Minnesota lost ring found metal detecting

Amal was out playing basketball with some friends. While taking a shot, her ring flew off her finger. She knew it was in the grassy area next to the court. The group searched for hours until it was too dark. She started the search again the next morning with a rented metal detector, still nothing. Amal decided to check online for any help and her internet search landed on theringfinders.com – She called, and I told her I could do a search the next day. She lives approx. an hour and half away, so I let her know I was heading out. Just before I arrived, she called me with great news. When she went back to the basketball court to meet up with me, and just happened to see the ring in the grass. So, I can’t count this as a « ringfinders find », though I thought it was a great story and to make sure other people know – Never give up!! Nice to meet you Amal and congrats on the find.

LOST GOLD & DIAMOND RING FOUND & RETURNED IN BEVERLY HILLS

Linda called me the other day and told me that her father had lost his gold ring with diamonds while gardening in his back yard in Beverly Hills. We made arrangements for me to go search that coming Sunday. I drove out there early Sunday morning and talked with her and her father to determine the most likely place the ring was lost, after ruling out one side of the yard, I began scanning the top and the side of bushes with my detector, I heard a faint signal on the side of the bushes, so I took out my hand held pinpointer then heard a good signal about 4 inches in, I placed a sifting screen on the ground at the side of the bushes about a foot in, I shook the bushes and no longer heard the signal, so I pulled out the screen, and there was a beautiful diamond ring shining in the sunlight. Soon after my recovery, Linda’s dad had his very sentimental ring back on his hand. I was so happy to be able to help such a nice family. They even repaired a cold refreshing plate of fruit for me before my long drive home.

Heirloom Gold wedding band lost in Middle Branch Pond in Waterboro, Maine found with metal detector.

Recovery number 25! Colin and his friend overturned their canoe on Middle Branch Pond in Waterboro, ME. In the process Colin’s wedding ring which had been made and worn by his Grandfather who was a jeweler by trade was lost. Fellow Ringfinder Dennis Boothby had recommended Colin call me when it was determined that the ring was beyond the normal shallow water search range of less than 4 ft and required a diver. It took about a half hour to locate and I was able to recover the ring in about 6 feet of water after doing battle with the heavy vegetation of the lakebed in zero visibility in order to return it to Colin. I plan to double down on the charitable donation from my previous recovery to the KCF&G scholarship fund.

While sitting at home sipping on an iced tea the phone rang. Carolyn, in a desperate voice, asked if I could help find her engagement ring? Of course I said “yes”. She and several friends were on a private beach with no public parking. OK, I could park in her mother’s driveway and walk to the beach. With that said, I was off for what I hoped to be a short search in the mid day sun.

When I arrived at the beach I was told how the loss occurred. Carolyn had put her rings in her pocket. When she stood up to remove her beach cover up so she could soak up some warn sun’s rays she saw her ring fall gently into the fluffy white sand and disappear.

This should be a quick and easy search and it was. In less than a minute Carolyn was wearing her ring again. The Thank Yous and taking of pictures followed. As usual I asked how it came to be that she called TheRingFinders for help. As it happened last night there was a woman in the group that had a story of how her husband had lost his ring and I had found it a couple of years ago. The word is getting around as our success continues to put smiles on so many faces.

I saw a missed call and voicemail, on my phone, from 11:42am. It was now 12:11pm and 29 minutes had passed, since the missed call. I immediately checked the voicemail and this was the message,

“Hi good morning my name is Chris M***** and I was on Goose Rocks Beach yesterday. I took my wedding ring off and put sunscreen on and I never put the ring back on . I realized, when we got back to the hotel, that it was gone. We went back to look for it , but I’m sure it kind of fell off my lap and chair and went down into the sand . I kinda know exactly where I was when I was sitting. The trouble is where we have to be on the road at 2: 30 PM today to head towards the Portland airport to go home , we live in Ontario, California . A couple of people suggested I give you guys a call and see if maybe we could find my wedding band. My number is 9 0 9- ***-**** and my name is Chris Thank you…”

WOW! Chris had to be on the road, in just over two hours, to catch his flight, to California. This was going to be a challenging search. I need to drive, from my house, to Goose Rocks Beach, in Kennebunkport, meet up with Chris, to find out where he was on the beach and I still needed to contact Chris. I immediately called Chris back, but the call went straight to voicemail. The pressure was on to get this ring, in 2 hours and I don’t know where it was lost.

I decided to just start driving to Goose Rocks Beach and I would continue attempting , to contact Chris. As my wife and I pulled out of the driveway, I called again, straight to voicemail. It was now, 12:23pm. Another call, about 5 minutes later, straight to voicemail. I was now approximately 10 minutes from GRB , when my phone rang. It was Chris. Chris asked me how this works and I told him that I was already on my way to GRB and would be arriving in 10 minutes. Chris was ecstatic knowing, I was already on my way. Chris told me he and his wife would leave their Hotel, immediately and be there in 20 minutes. He and his wife would meet us, in front of The Tides Club, a Restaurant and Beachfront Hotel.

My wife and I arrived and parking, as usual, was a nightmare. I decided to ask Goose Rocks Beach General store, if it would be alright to park, in their lot. I told them the circumstances and they were totally on board, for me to find the ring, and fast. THANK YOU! The store was a 1/3 of a mile from The Tides Club and I had to move fast to get there. Chris called me and told me they were there. I told Chris, I was walking there at the moment and would see him shortly. I saw Chris standing at the beach access entrance and we started towards the area he had lost the ring in. It was now 1:05pm and less than 1 1/2 hours before he had to leave and catch his plane. I started my Minelab CTX-3030 metal detector up, as Chris showed me the general area. I started performing a grid of the area and then a heard a nice low tone signal. I tried checking my VDI Screen but couldn’t see it in the extremely bright sun. I ran my coil over the area, once again and a nice signal was still there. At that point, my coil had moved the sand, just enough, for me to see a small piece of a silver colored ring. I turned around, and asked Chris to come over. When he arrived, I pointed the the shiny object and Chris reached down and pulled out his stunning White Gold Wedding Ring with Diamonds. I had found Chris’s ring. Chris clenched the ring in his had and threw his fist, into the air. YES, YES, he said out loudly. He couldn’t believe it. It was now 1:08pm. It took just 3 minutes, to find his ring, with 1 hour and 22 minutes to spare. PHEW! Chris felt so out of place, without his wedding ring, he actually had purchased a ring, the night before, just so he would not feel naked, without his wedding ring. Chris was extremely happy and was in disbelief that the ring was found and found that fast. He continued to express his gratitude to my wife and I, as we walked off the beach. I felt so relieved to have found it, before his flight. The stars were aligned!
A lot of things came together, to make this happen. Being retired, gives me the ability to just up and leave, whenever I get a callout. GRB General Store allowing me to park there, to help Chris. Chris telling me that multiple people told him about me and to call me. Chris had no idea that such a service existed. So, a big shoutout to Retirement, GRB General Store and to all the people, who referred me and encouraged Chris to call me.
At 2:18pm, I received a text from Chris. It said

“Thank you again Dennis for today. I went back into town and told several shopkeepers about the good news. I’m still stunned we found it.

I just absolutely love being able to help people, like Chris. Have a safe flight home.

This was my 2nd recovery today. I will have the details of the 1st recovery, this morning, at 6:00am, as soon as I return the ring to the owner. We are in the process of setting up the time.

Early Friday morning, I got a text about a wedding ring lost in the sand at Loon Point Beach, just north of Carpinteria, CA. West Dennis, MA Lost Ring – Like Father, Like Daughter – Found & Returned

Some losses are remarkable in one way or another. I thought a text from Pam that this call might be as much of a challenge as finding her husband’s ring almost 4 years ago. It took Leighton and myself several hours of detecting before it was recovered from the depths of sand that had covered it.

Well no such luck today. Kate the daughter of Pam and Keith had lost her Cape Cod Fish ring. The ring was the highlight of the return. Kate had been out where she could not touch the bottom. She was carefully making her way toward the shore, aware of the rings that were on her fingers and felt the Fish swim away with a smile on its face and a wink in its eye.

It was almost dark when I arrived at the beach and it was low tide, perfect. I went straight out keeping the telephone poles and a cottage in line of the search pattern. On the fifth pass knew I had found the ring that had given up swimming for a nap in the sand. Nothing exciting, no drama, no sharks, no football to blame for taking the ring off Kate’s finger. Just a quick loss of a ring, a call to TheRingFinders, a five minute search and before the sun set photos had been taken along with almost nothing except that Kate is keeping the family’s tradition of loosing a ring at the same beach every 4 years. Yes, sometimes the easy is a nice change compared to a search that drags on for days. At least this evening had plenty of smiles and laughs at days end.

As you can see from the photo she was so happy & relieved to have her precious ring back:) Thought it maybe gone forever. This happened after it slipped off while flying a kite the night before on the shoreline during a incoming King high tide!  The waves were pounding & eroding the parking lot throughout the rest of the night. I set my alarm to meet them at Low tide first thing in the morning. Only trouble was finding parking,,,Finding her ring with my Metal detector buried down nearly 8” in the wet sand was easy!

Lost Wedding ring found metal detecting Minnesota

Paul lost his wedding ring while helping a neighbor dig out of a snowstorm a couple years ago. As his anniversary was coming up, he browsed the internet for help finding his lost ring. He found theringfinders.com and gave me a call. It was a really quick recovery as the ring was on the side of his driveway just under the surface of the ground. He figured after helping his neighbor, he was walking up his drive and removed his gloves, causing the ring to come off. Congrats on the recovery Paul, it was nice talking with you and your family. Pendant found in Santee

Mick contacted me wanting to find a pendant that his father used to wear before he passed. Mick himself buried the gold nugget pendant on the other side of a retaining wall in the back yard of the family residence for safe keeping. Now, years later, the mother has passed too and the house is to be sold, so, time to dig up the pendant….except Mick can’t quite remember exactly where that is, or, how deep, except that he didn’t think it was more than a foot. After some digging in a 3′ X 15′ area, he decided using a metal detector would be much easier. I met him at the site this morning before it got too blazing hot. A relatively small search area, but, rebar in the retaining wall, irrigation plumbing, various metal junk, and landscape lighting made it a bit more difficult. After using both my 15″ and 6″ coils without success, it was time to scrape off a layer to get to deeper targets. With the sun starting to poke through the overcast, I could feel why shoveling this dirt was plan B. Another pass over the search area finally produced a non-ferrous signal worth investigating. Even though the pendant was initially buried inside a plastic bag, no remnants of said bag came to light, but, the pendant did! A happy Mick can now sell the house without any sadness or lingering doubts about leaving his family heirloom behind. A pleasure to meet you Mick, and thank you for the reward.
