I debated taking a metal detector on my vacation to Playa Mujeres Cancun Mexico, but opted to pack up the Excalibur II and see if it could learn to speak Spanish.

As relaxation kept me pre-occupied, I waited until the last day of my vacation to break out the Excalibur II. I spent a little less than 4 hours playing around in about 3 foot of clear water. The bottom was surprising clean, and most finds were of interest.

Surprisingly enough, most of my finds were American coins, not that of the local currency.

I recovered three rings during that run, two of them were Tungsten, and one 14kt with 9 Diamonds.

Checked with the Resort, and was unsuccessful at finding a report of the ring being reported lost.

No telling how long it had been in the sand, but it now has a new home in Texas. Now wishing I would have started detecting on day 1.

Minelab had just recently provided me with this replacement Excalibur II, and it worked great.

Lost Diamond Wedding Ring Lake Livingston, Texas

Received a call from Mike in Kingwood, Texas regarding his wife’s lost Gold Wedding Ring. Mike reported while swimming in Lake Livingston his wife lost her ring. Mike said he was pretty sure she lost the ring on a sand bar in the lake where they had spent most of the day.

I made the trip with Mike up to the lake and spent 6 hours in the water with the new (replacement) Excalibur II and could not find the ring, The plus, the Excalibur II ran like a champ, and the pictured ring was found while searching for my clients ring.

Ring lost 7 years, found in Kentwood, MI mobile home park.

We just found a ring today that was lost for 7 years. A metal detecting friend of ours named Mike had a son-in-law who lost his ring while changing oil in his car. His son-in-law has since passed away and Mike wanted to find the ring for his grandson who was 9 years old at the time the ring was lost. Mike wanted to find the ring to give his grandson as a keepsake of his fathers. Mike is legally blind and needs a little help getting his detector gear ready. We, (Dave B. and myself), got started at a mobile home park in Kentwood, MI. We spread out on the small lot which was now vacant and about 20 minutes into the hunt Mike came up with a beautiful gold ring with 6 diamonds. We continued to detect around the lot and the adjacent lot to see what else we could find. After coming up with coins, toy cars and pull tabs we went over to his daughters and presented her the ring. The following pictures says it all, the ring and Mike with his daughter.

Sunday September 29th @ 12:27 P.M. I received a call from a Frantic Kyle Cameron. Can you help me find my Platinum Wedding Ring?

I gathered up my equipment and drove to Esquimalt Lagoon and met up with Kyle and Christine and the little dog. Kyle explained that while playing with his dog on the beach he got his hands covered in sand and while cleaning them he lost his ring.

I searched for 1 1/2 hours on the beach and in the surf and Bingo the detector rang out crisp and loud, found it. Talk about excited, Kyle said he could kiss me, I declined that but shook his hand and returned the ring.

How To Find A Lost Ring At Spanish Banks Dog Park, Vancouver

Today I went out on a ring search at Spanish Banks dog park in Vancouver. I talked to Patrick over the phone and he gave me the details in regards to where he believed the ring was lost and how to get there. He sent me a google earth picture of the location and that sure helped! But that being said you still have to ask the question or you could be out by a little and that’s all it takes when you’re looking for something so small.He told me that I was looking for a white gold ring with six small diamonds that he lost while throwing a ball for his dog. He told me soon after he realized his ring came off the whole group of people he was with doing exercises held hands and formed a long line (15 people across) and did a grid search of the area…trying to eyeball the ring. Unfortunately the ring was not found so Patrick went home and found a place to rent a metal detector and came back and searched for five hours with no luck…A little about metal detector rentals…Yes, you can rent a metal detector but in most cases if you’ve never used one it may be a little overwhelming with all the signals that you are getting. Lost my Ring while Playing with my Dog!

We got call from the gentleman above who said he had lost his ring in the backyard while playing with the dog at friends home.   The challenge on this hunt was the it was 102 degrees in Dallas that day, it was miserable.  My wife and I arrived and began the search with our Garrett ATPro’s and we began in the area where the customer said he thought it was.

We searched for about 2 hours, gridding out the yard, going through the flower beds we were having no luck.  I ask the ring owners wife if he could come home from work and show us exactly where he was and exactly what  he did with the dog.   He arrived about 20 minutes later.  He stood in the yard and said I did this and my son & I looked at each other and knew what had happened, the ring was slung back to the other side of the yard when the man threw the toy for the dog.  My son found the ring in about 10 minutes.

The customer and his wife were thrilled, we were soaked, and sunburned, but happy!

Lost Wedding Band while Tube Fishing at Lake Lavon,Tx

We received an email from Crystal after she did a exhaustive google search to find someone to help her husband find his wedding ring.  Her  husband Aaron had been tube fishing on Lake Lavon in Texas all day long.  He had no idea where he lost the ring and I think really did not expect us to find it.

Trying to coordinate schedules for us to make the hour drive out to the lake took several days, so today when we all arrived at the lake the ring had been lost for 9 days.  We arrived about 9am and met Aaron & Crystal,  remember he was very unsure where he lost the ring, in fact he thought it was probably out in 20-25 ft deep water where he had been tube fishing.

Aaron showed us the area where he and his buddy cleaned the fish in a picnic area.  Ellen & I got out both of our Garrett ATPro’s and began the search.  Aaron and Crystal took a walk down the beach while we were detecting.  We had only been there 20 minutes when we spotted the Silver Carbonite Wedding Band.  We could not believe we found it, this was one of those searches you go on almost knowing its going to be a long shot at best.

BUT, it turned into a awesome day.  Ellen & I walked down the beach and Aaron & his wife spotted us and began walking back our way.  As we got close to them I said « Boy the lake is really low » instantly you could see their faces get a little sad thinking we had not  found the ring and already given up.

THEN, I said, « Aaron let me ask you a question, would you like to have this back » and I held up his ring.  As you can see in the pictures, they were ecstatic and could not thank us enough.

What a wonderful hobby we have and the joy we get to bring to people when we find their lost item.

Lost Ring at our Lake House in Lake Worth, Texas

We got the call from a doctor who was sitting out in a lawn chair at his home on Lake Worth just outside watching the beautiful sunset.  He was playing with his wedding ring and  it came off and fell into his very steep, very thick grass.

He and his family looked for several hours with no luck.  They were convinced that the ring had fallen off and rolled into the lake, the yard is very steep.

The next day he found « The Ring Finders » website and called us to come find his ring.  We arrived and within 5 minutes had located his ring.  He was astounded and said if he did not know better he would have said it was a setup.  He was very pleased.

Jay contacted me about her lost Diamond Wedding Band. She was at the fall festival and lost it in the corn pit. We have recovered many rings from the corn pit, though some rings get pushed down so far we can’t detect them. I drove out to the site as soon as I could, so the chances would be in our favor, and hopefully no one pushed the ring down out of range.  It didn’t take long and I got that strong Gold hit and there it was, only about 6 inches down into the corn. This is a beautiful ring Jay – Glad we could help you out!! Take Care.

The third time is a ring at Thumb Lake, Vanderbilt, Michigan

Aaron sent me an email after finding my name through the ring finders website. He was out with friends at one of the most beautiful lakes in the Upper Lower peninsula of Michigan. Aaron and his bride just got married a week before and wanted to spend some time with friends they hadn’t seen in a while. They had just dropped anchor at the beach where boats park and party. While enjoying the hot sun and clear cool blue water Aaron was playing catch with a football and when he caught the ball he felt his black tungsten wedding band fall off his finger. After searching frantically for it in about 3 to 4 feet of water he gave up and when he got home his wife got on the computer to search for a metal detector and theingfinders web site came up.

I talked to Aaron through email then on the phone and agreed to make the 3 hour trip up to Thumb Lake in the Boyne/Gaylord area. The area I was given was just to the right of the swimming area only to find out there was an area of about 2 football fields. I started from the swimming area and headed north and covered at least 1/3rd of the area to no avail I did find a ring but not his. I gave Aaron a call and told him I will be going back up in a couple weeks and would try again. I covered another 3rd of the area and still struck out.

Today I drove up in the morning with my detecting friend Dave B. we started on the last 3rd of the area and in about 20 minutes into the search the ring was found. It was supposed to be one of the last days of warm weather in the North country but it was cloudy and windy. The water was warmer than the air so little time was spent on additional detecting so we headed back South for our last 3 hour trip to find this ring.

I will be presenting the ring to Aaron tomorrow when he gets out of work and post a smiling and happy face.

And now the rest of the story: I talked to Aaron today and got his picture. He didn’t tell his wife that the ring was found and decided to tell her over spaghetti diner and a bottle of wine. « I asked her to help me pick out a bottle of wine. She noticed the ring while we were opening the bottle together. It brought tears to her eyes as she jump up and down crying happy tears » I told him may they both have years together and a lot more happy tears.
