Father & Son’s Ring Lost in Surf City, NC Found

While attending a wedding reception for a family member I received a call from Drew.  He explained he lost his ring on the beach in Surf City, NC.  He said it was about 30 minutes before finding my name on The Ring Finders.  I tried to keep him posted on my location as I headed home to get my equipment and change clothes.  I arrived about 1 hour before low tide and 2 hours before sunset.  I explained to Drew to try to remember the general area as best as possible and try to mark it with a landmark.  This was a big help as he guided me almost right to the ring after I searched a few areas out of range of where he was at the time of loss.  Here is Drew’s explanation:

« During a family vacation on Topsail Island (going on 35+ years for my in-laws) I lost my wedding band throwing around a football at high tide.  We thought there was NO WAY we’d find the ring in the water / sand.  Enter Steven Ray: he left a wedding reception to come to our location with his metal detecting gear, and within 30 minutes had discovered the ring.  All of my family and friends gave him a standing ovation, and my wife and I are very grateful that he was able to recover a sentimental ring (it was my late father’s wedding band as well).  Thank you Steven »

A bachelor party ended up with a lost Go Pro camera attached to a tripod in about 7 feet of water. A.P. (initials he goes by) called me Monday to tell me how he lost the camera while swimming out to the dock at East Lake Campgrounds in Hopkins, Michigan. He thought it was in deeper water so I called in my backup scuba diver Craig Ziecina who has pulled me out of a couple tough jams lately. While Dave Boyer and myself searched the shallows in the roped off swimming area Craig went deep into the spring fed dark bottom of the swim area. After about 10 minutes the camera was recovered. I attempted to call A.P. and set up a time to return his camera. After some negotiations between a 175 mile distance between us we will be returning it to him soon. Pictures for our book of smiles will be edited into the story soon.

Not ALL Treasures are Gold and Silver!

This nice gentleman called me asking if I could find some lost items on his property. The house was built in 1876 and I really got excited as I have detected on old home sites and found some cool things. He explained that he had his fence permit approved and he needed the property irons and sprinkler heads that were covered over found before the fence installation and other construction projects at the house.  After I got on site I was impressed with how magnificent those old homes are. I used my Tesoro sidewinder no disc and located the items requested and received permission to detect the whole property at a later date! And the owner is interested in detecting as well!

Lost Gold & Diamonds Engagement Ring at Ewa Beach…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a call from Samantha on Ewa Beach. While she was changing her clothes to her bathing suit her 2 year old son made a bee line for the water at the beach. She immediately dropped what she was doing to chase down her son. In her successful efforts to stop him her Engagement Ring fell off into the water and the pounding shore surge and disappeared. I told her we needed to look right away as the sun was beginning to set and I didn’t want the ring to get tossed around all night. Samantha said we could meet at the local convenient store on the beach and walk down from there to the spot her ring came off. I was delayed a bit by traffic but still made it there before it got too dark. Samantha knew exactly where it fell off so I started a grid search there. First a pull tab. Then I got a nice ring tone but the shore surge washed it away. I knew that had to be the ring so I started expanding around that point. Nothing though. Damn! Did I lose my chance because if the ring went out into the coral it could be lost forever. On my second grid line I got the tone again and immediately scooped before the waves had a chance. Got it there in the scoop was a sparkling white gold ring with just enough twilight to see it glisten. I walked up to Samantha and handed her what I found, « Is this it? » I asked. Oh my gosh I can’t believe it. I explained how it got away from me and we were thankful it didn’t go seaward. Samantha’s husband Elawrence was stunned and extremely thankful. There were hugs all around and Samantha could now go back home to Illinois with her ring. Aloha to Samantha & Elawrence.

Carlsbad lost and found Silver bracelet

A sentimental piece of jewelry was lost and found by Theringfinders Metal detecting service in Carlsbad Ca.

On Sunday July 16th I was testing a Newly modified Pulse Induction Metal detector machine at Carlsbad beach while also removing a whole lot of trash left in the sand and only 30min later I found a Silver bracelet.

I was glad to hear a smooth threshold and Find a possible Item to return to the owner. The next morning I was about to post found silver bracelet in the san diego lost and found when I noticed an add that said; Lost a silver bracelet in Carlsbad.The same Place! What are the chances it’s theirs? So I emailed him right away with a description of the one I found. It Turned out to Not be his but was near the same area I had found that bracelet.

I offered to help search for it and Anthony responded via email promptly and was able to send 2 of his family members to meet me A.S.A.P at the exact location of where it was lost plus provide extra details needed for this recovery. I asked them the story behind this silver chain and they mentioned it was handed down by there Great Grandfather to a son.

Oh Wow I said to myself.This was a huge sentimental piece of Metal that is worth maybe a Million monotary dollars to the family and I really hoped I can help them FAST!

I began a grid search in the hottest spot swinging the detector when a buddy John Hughes and also a member of Theringfinders was coming down to help us.That is when I got a rare but very familiar Non ferrous Tent stake sound and kicked the sand with my toes…Then A heavy Silver bracelet came popping out of the sand shining like Diamonds forever.. along with many smiles😀

Soon after we met their father Anthony and got to hear more about the history of this Family heirloom Silver bracelet that was recently handed down to the great grandson.

What an awesome story to share and a Great service to be apart of.

Lost Platinum & Diamonds Engagement & Wedding Rings at Paradise Cove…FOUND!!!

This ring find began on 11 July when I got a call from John who was visited Hawaii with his family and they reside in Katy Texas. While attending the Paradise Cove Luau the previous weekend John & Doty went into the lagoon to observe the Native Hawaiian Fish Net Casting event. While standing in waist deep water the waterproof pouch John was wearing broke open and all their precious items fell into the lagoon. John & Doty were able to find the cellphone and John’s Wedding Band but Doty’s Platinum Engagement and Wedding Band disappeared. After returning to Texas John located me through Aloha Security. We went on Google Maps and I asked John to split the lagoon in half and tell me which half to search in. The lagoon is small so I knew I could finish a half in about 45 minutes to an hour. After my search I found a large silver ring and some change but neither of Doty’s rings. I returned to my vehicle and gave John the news. Then John apologized and said he made a mistake and it would have been in the Southern half. He noticed the public entrance path and realized they were straight in from that point. Well after seeing Doty’s Engagement ring on her daughter’s toe I knew I couldn’t give up so I went in and did the Southern half. This half of the lagoon is very shallow and the water from the Northern half surges in and exits out the Southern side. As tiny as the rings were and the surface area exposed I figured the surge could put those rings anywhere in the Southern half. My hunch was right at the farthest out point along the rocky area. Shortly into the hunt I got a nice Platinum Tone and one scoop down there was the Engagement ring in my scoop. A few feet away I got another nice tone and there was the Wedding band. A local couple along the shore could tell I was pleased and asked, « What did you find? » I showed them the two rings and they were in awe. The gentleman offered me an ice cold Heineken which I couldn’t turn down as my throat was parched. We talked story for awhile then I needed to tell John & Doty the great news. After hearing Doty crying in the background that was all I needed. John asked if I would send the rings Express Mail and Insured which as you can see they have arrived safely back in Katy Texas. The entire family gave me a « SHAKA ». Aloha to Doty, John and the Kids!

Found in Lake Michigan

Lost her father’s ring who recently passed, ring was lost in the water in lake Michigan.
I was very fortunate to have found it for her, the waves were high but got lucky after only about 10 min.
Just would not have been able to leave this one without finding it.

Lost Platinum Ring in Crystal Cove Found and Returned

I was finishing up a search searching for someone’s lost jewelry this Sunday and I was approached by someone that said, « Can you please help us? My friend just lost his platinum wedding band ». I walked over and met Paul. He just told me that he was playing in the sand with his family and lost his platinum wedding band and that his wife was going to kill him. I swung the coil a few times in the area that he showed me and surprise! Within a minute it was in my scoop. He said, « you did that like it was nothing! » I said, « Finding it quickly was the easy part, the 30 years of practice was the hard part ». I made sure Paul was on the way home to his wife and ensure he would not be in the doghouse tonight.

Lost Ring Pensacola Beach – FOUND!

This was a neat story.  A nice lady on the beach at the Portofino Condos in Pensacola Beach stopped me and said that she wished I had been there a couple of days earlier.  I asked her why and she proceeded to explain that BOTH of her sons had lost their wedding bands in the gulf within minutes of each other just a couple of days before.  I asked her if anyone had looked for them and she said no one had with a metal detector.  I explained about Ringfinders and told her what I did and told her that even though I really wished she had called me a few days earlier, there was still a chance I could find them.  Well, long story short I was able to find her son Jacob’s but not his brother Zach’s.  I spent hours looking for Zach’s and even came back two more days to look but unfortunately I was only able to find Jacob’s.  I had to mail it back to Memphis, TN but as you can see by the picture, Jacob was thrilled when he realized it was really his ring in the mail.  Zach had some closure and appreciated me looking and has promised to call immediately if he ever loses something valuable again.  Congrats Jacob on getting your ring back!

Man’s 14K Gold Wedding Band Lost, Recovered and Returned on Ocean Isle Beach NC

I got an e-mail from Kim asking if I could help find her husband Trevor’s lost wedding band during low tide. I responded saying that there shouldn’t be a problem and we agreed to meet at 7:30pm. During the 35 minute drive, I noticed a nasty storm brewing and moving my way quickly. I met Kim and as we’re walking to the beach she told me what happened. She said her husband had lost his ring the day before while wave surfing with the kids. They had been out later that afternoon and searched with no luck and her husband didn’t want to waste anymore vacation time looking for what he thought was gone for good. She had (discreetly) looked on the internet and found me though TheRingFinders directory and decided to contact me for help.

We walked out on the beach to an area in the wet sand marked on 4 corners with a big X . I’m watching the storm move closer, with big lightning strikes off in the distance, so I started my grid search.  I wasn’t finding anything between the X’s so she told me that the ring could be a little outside of the X’s that she had previously marked. I expanded the grid and on my third row I hit a good solid 59-60 on my AT PRO. It took me 3 scoops to get the ring out of the hole. I dumped the sand on the beach, spread it out with my foot and saw a small glimmer of gold. I reached down and picked it up, blew the sand off the ring and turned around to give it to her. She was overwhelmed with joy and a few tears were shed, which gets me every time! I got a huge hug just as her husband and 3 kids were walking onto the beach. I think she had just texted him that we found his ring. He was extremely happy as well. It just doesn’t get any better than this and this is what it’s all about.
