Lost 3 Diamonds & Platinum Wedding Rings at Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a call from Dave Sheldon our foremost Ring Finder on Maui. Dave passed me a number for a couple from Los Angeles that had lost 3 Platinum & Diamond Wedding Rings in the sand at Ulua Lagoon Ko Olina Resort. I immediately called the number and Sarote answered and told me he was on the beach with his wife Tanya and their young son when a gust of wind blew their umbrella down. Tanya jumped up to grab the umbrella and didn’t realize until she sat back down that her 3 wedding rings she had placed on the lap of her dress were gone. They searched and other friendly tourists on the beach pitched in but the rings were gone. I told Sarote to relax in the area, stop searching and I would be there in 30 minutes to recover their rings. I assured him in the dry sand we shouldn’t have any problem at all. When I arrived Sarote had a parking space reserved for me just up from where the rings were lost. That was convenient. I met Sarote’s lovely wife Tanya and she reenacted to me what occurred. I started my grid search and on the first leg nothing. This beach is very noisy on the Excal from EMI so you have to listen carefully. Second leg found a deep crusty penny. I knew it wasn’t the rings but wanted to clear the grid. On the fourth leg and actually out of the area Tanya thought the ring would be I got an excellent tone. One scoop down and there was the first ring. Sarote was in awe and came over to retrieve it. I said wait there I hear another target in the hole. Another scoop and two more rings appeared. Tanya and Sarote were overcome with joy and praised my services. I told them the equipment is very good as long as you know how to use it. With all three rings back on her fingers Sarote said Thank you for saving our vacation. We took some pictures and I bid them a tremendous vacation for the rest of their time in Hawaii. Aloha to Tanya & Sarote.

Lost Gold Necklace Pendant at Hilton Hawaiian Village…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This metal detecting find began when I received a call from Nigel who was visiting Hawaii from Vancouver, Canada. While his lovely wife Nelo was removing their daughter Nya’s shirt to put suntan lotion on the shirt snagged her gold necklace pendant and it popped off into the sand. They looked at the sand and it was gone. Nigel googled and found my metal detecting services on theringfinders page. I was at work but agreed to leave a little early to get into Waikiki before rush hour traffic. When I arrived Nigel met me at the shrimp truck near the parking lot and we walked down to the area on the beach that his darling daughter Nya lost her necklace charm. Nelo described to me what happened and showed me the area she believed the pendant came off. It was only a 10 by 10 foot square so I fired up the Excalibur and started my search. 10 seconds into the search I got a nice low gold tone and one scoop down there was Nya’s charm in the scoop. It was just big enough not to fall through the grate. Nelo was absolutely amazed that it was found so quickly. Nya was eating some cheesy snack which you can see on her hand in the picture and was excited to get her charm back. Vacation back on track. Aloha to our friends from up North Nigel, Nelo & Nya.

Ring recovered in Byron Center, Michigan

We have a new media outlet in our community, (Nextdoor South Christian.com). I offered my service in the Lost and Found section as a TheRingFinder. Mary K. contacted me last night that her husband had lost his wedding ring. Rick K. had his ring and watch in his hand when he gathered up some belongings and moved them for the serviceman to do some repairs in the furnace area. When he moved them to the other side of the basement he noticed his ring was missing. After several hours of searching for it in the basement, Mary recalled my post in the Nextdoor column.

After her call I was at their home in an hour to start my search. Mary and Rick are moving and their basement was in a turmoil with their upcoming move. After several questions I began my search in sections at a time beginning with under and around the furnace and water heater, I used my pin pointer putting it down the floor drain with no signal present, I moved the freezer and other items then moving my search under the steps. There was one additional area that I searched and under a box which was propped up off the floor about an inch I flashed my light and there it was a beautiful gold wedding ring with a diamond.

I pulled it out and showed Rick the ring and said « is this it »? A relieved look on his face and a smile he said « yes ». We went upstairs to tell Mary the good news. They were both happy with the recovery and could now finish packing up for the move without knowing the ring would be left behind.

Thank you Mary and Rick for putting your faith in THERINGFINDERS.

Last night at about 8:30 I got a call from a guy who lost his wedding ring. His wife found The Ring Finders information online and said to give it a try. He explained that he had stopped on his way home from work to fill his company truck with diesel fuel. While pumping, he took the rubber floor mat out and banged it on the pump guardrail to knock the ice off. In the process, he broke his fingernail off and reflexes from the pain made him shake his hand in the air. He felt the ring come off and heard it it something in the distance. He really couldn’t tell where the sound came from. The wind was blowing hard and it was snowing. He looked around for a mark in the snow where it might have gone in, but no luck. He then shoveled all the snow from around the truck, sifted through it and piled it behind the pumps where it would be safe from snow plows and hopefully it would be there in the Spring.

He told me that his wife was beside herself with sadness and he was very frustrated with a string of bad luck and working long cold days in the extreme cold. I was sitting on the couch, with my fiancee, keeping warm with my pj’s on! I thought about the bad weather and the 50 mile drive to get there, but decided the best chance of him getting it back would be to go right up. If we didn’t search then, the chances were very high that when they snowplowed the lot that night, the ring could be pushed anywhere, and possibly could get destroyed. There was also the very real possibility that someone else might see it after the snow melted and take it home.

I got there around 10, right when the store was closing. The ground was full of huge signals from underground tanks, piping, and rebar in the concrete. It was going to be a tough search. So, he scooped up the snow, that he had shoveled earlier, with a plastic shovel and I scanned each scoop. Found some foil and coins, but no ring. I started scanning the nearby snowbanks, the snow beyond them and then started scanning the parking lot. About 20 feet in front of the opposite side of where the truck had been parked, I got the awesome ring tone!! When I handed it to him he was so relieved and happy. He said « my wife will be so happy »!
I love this hobby!

On my way home, I stopped to help a woman who had gone off the road, and got home well after midnight. Most of us Vermonters will be glad when Summer returns!

Lost White Gold Ring with Diamonds Found In The Snow In Allen Park Michigan

A Joyful New Years Day……

…..was had for the pictured couple who’s ring I found for them in the snow today. He presented the new ring to her for Christmas to celebrate their first year of marriage. She was taking the holiday trash out last night and the ring came off. Being nighttime, they weren’t sure where it was even tho the area where she was wasn’t very large. They had checked the can and bags prior to my arrival to no avail. They tore up the house searching everywhere. He went today and bought a toy type detector which only caused more frustration. When I got on site I noticed he raked and salted the area where they thought it was. The area was composed of gravel for the driveway, spruce needles, cones and the aforementioned salt, snow, ice. The scent of the spruce trees and the cones on the snow was peaceful to me, reminding me of being out in the woods hunting for relics. Firing up the MXT I gridded the area and got mixed metal signals, nothing close to where this ring material type usually shows up. There was also a car that could not be moved and a aluminum sided post for the porch overhang.
Reducing the sensitivity as much as possible to get close to the large metal objects helped but I still got an overload signal. Scanning slowly towards the post and moving around it I got a suspect +12 /+18 mixed with an overload signal right near the base of about a 5″ snow pile. Probing with the garrett carrot I got that good vibration that we all know what it means. Brushing the snow around revealed this gorgeous white gold ring with diamonds! They couldn’t believe that it had been in a total different area from where they thought. It made their New years day even better as they thought it could not be found…. and something wonderful to look back on as they grow older together.

It’s Gonna Be A Happy New Year…..

……For the pictured couple who’s ring I found today in the snow. They got engaged on Christmas and were unloading gifts yesterday when the ring came off. I searched the area between the house and car where she thought it slipped off but noting came thru on the MXT meter where a typical ring like this will come up. The next place to look was where the cars were parked, so he moved them and I searched the area and the MXT was sounding off on lots of junk signals and I learned there used to be a garage where the conc. pkng lot is now. Carefully gridding from different directions and a +8 came up with a good hard signal, brushing away the snow revealed this gorgeous specimen that had been been driven over and had we not moved the car would not have found it! I mentioned to them to take the ring where they got it and check that the diamonds had not loosened up due to the impact of driving on it. They were so thrilled and it made the new year even better and something to look back on when they wed in September 2018!

Lost Platinum & Diamonds Wedding Ring at Ala Moana Beach Park…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began this morning when I had an email from Patrick who lives in Chicago. A little after midnight he sent an email request for ring finder services at Ala Moana Beach Park near Waikiki. While playing catch with a football in waist deep water and while Patrick was making a catch the football hit the ring and it popped off his finger. He wasn’t quite sure which direction it went and his unfamiliarity with the beach he felt somewhat hopeless in finding the ring. I responded to the email and told Patrick to call me ASAP as that beach is constantly being detected. Losing it at 2:30 the previous day is an eternity of time for that beach. Moments later I got the call. We agreed to meet in 30 minutes at Life Guard Tower 1E which was near where the ring came off. As I arrived Patrick showed me the extreme ends of the grid and waist deep water is alot to cover. I figured it was near high tide the day before when he lost it so the ring should be shallow. I started my grid search and Patrick was my seaward marker thankfully as there ain’t no objects to line up on there. After a few grid lines I only found a few pieces of foil. I was beginning to think this ring was found already. After about 45 minutes Patrick was shivering and looking as if this was going to be a hopeless cause. Then suddenly in thigh deep water BOOM! My detector screamed in my ear. I knew instantaneously it was going to be his ring. Patrick wasn’t looking my direction and I did a quick scoop and there in the basket was an awesome platinum and diamonds encrusted ring. I started walking towards Patrick and probably from the look on my face he said, « You found it? » « I think so », I said. Does it have several diamonds? « Yes all around the ring, » he said. « Oh then this must be it », as I handed him the ring. The look of total elation and relief came over Patrick’s face. He was so thankful and told me he didn’t think we were going to find it. What a Great way to end 2017. Aloha to Patrick. On a side note he didn’t have to tell his wife he lost the ring. Whew!
