Awesome Platinum Solitaire Engagement Ring Lost at Hermosa Beach, CA…Recovered and Joyously Returned.

  • from Redondo Beach (California, United States)

P1000152P1000150

Yesterday, not long after finding the ring for Keith, I received a call from DJ who said his wife had lost her engagement ring at the beach just two hours earlier. I asked if they were still there, he said they were not, but some of his wife’s friends were still at the spot. I then asked if they could meet me there, and he said his wife would go and make sure she could show me where the loss occurred.

I was able to get there in about an hour, and walked out to meet Katie, DJ’s wife. She showed me to the area where the ring was lost, and as we got closer, I could see lines in the sand over a rather large area where they had performed a continuous grid search. I could tell they had been very meticulous in their search, but to no avail. I began to question her about the loss, and as she explained everything to me, I could tell that they had searched the wrong area. I began my search in the spot that I figured the loss occurred from my inquisition, and within about 5 minutes I was able to pull a 2 1/2 carat diamond solitaire engagement ring in a platinum setting out of my scoop to Katie’s shock, and the shouts of success from the friends and other beach goers that knew of the situation.

What a joy to bring joy to those in despair over the loss of something so meaningful in their lives, as you can see from Katie’s smile, and the communication I had with DJ after the recovery. The other important fact in this story is that Katie and DJ will be celebrating their 5th wedding anniversary in a week. What a great job!

Wedding Band Lost at Torrance Beach, CA…Recovered and Joyously Returned.

  • from Redondo Beach (California, United States)

I had spent the morning surfing yesterday at a local beach, and had just come out of the water when I checked my phone to see that I had received a text from Keith. He was wondering if I could help him find his wedding band that he had lost the previous day. I told him that I had to go and drop off my board and gather my equipment, and that I would meet him at the spot in an hour.

When I arrived Keith was waiting. He explained that he had taken the ring off to go into the water, and have his child come in closer to shore, because they had paddled out too far for his liking. He put the ring on the beach chair on a towel, but when he got back the towel was moved, and the ring was gone. They looked but were unable to find it. One of his children mentioned that he should buy a metal detector to search for it, but Keith figured that he had seen a lot of guys detecting the beaches, and thought that there might be someone who might be able to help him, so he turned to the Internet, and did a search where he was able to locate my number. That was a good thing because the area he was looking is so highly mineralized, it would have caused any inexpensive detector to false constantly.

I began my search, and then readjusted my detector to accommodate for the conditions, put the coil back down just bit lower in the search area when I got a good report from the machine. I put my scoop in, and there it was. I pulled it out to Keith’s surprise. It truly made his day that someone was so willing to come at such short notice, and it made my day to see his joy restored.

Lost Platinum, Gold & Diamonds Wedding Ring at Bellows Air Force Station…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

Bellows1
Bellows2
This ring find started when I got a call from Nicolas who is a CAPT in the US Army. While enjoying the day at the beach his wife Ashley put her Wedding ring in the pocket of their sunshade for safe keeping. When the day was over Nicolas shook the sand off the sunshade and started back to their campsite. Ashley realized she had left the ring in the sunshade pocket so they went back to the beach to see if they could find the ring. They searched methodically in the sand but no luck finding the ring. The next day Nicolas originally wanted to rent a detector and I convinced him it would be easier if I just came down and looked for them. I loaded my gear and we decided to meet in an hour at Bellow AFS. We met outside the gate and drove to their campsite. We then grabbed the gear and headed down to the beach. Fortunately although the beach was relatively crowded the area they were in was open. I surveyed the area then started my grid search. First & second target were sandy Lincoln cents, then a bottle cap. About 5 minutes into the search I got a great tone and because of the solitaire diamond I took a gentle scoop and poured it on the ground. I grabbed my pin-pointer and made a spiral search in the sand pile. That’s when the stunning ring exposed itself. I picked it up and handed it to Ashley. She was overcome with joy and said, « Thank you so much your my hero ». An applause rang out from all the nearby beach goers. I love this hobby! Aloha to Ashley & Nicolas!

Gold Cross Found and Returned in Lincoln, RI

  • from Charlestown (Rhode Island, United States)
Contact:

A week ago, while vacationing on Cape Cod, I received a call from Leslie asking for my help.  Her mom, Phyllis, recently lost a gold cross in her backyard when the chain broke and was very upset over the loss.  The cross was a gift from her late husband, so it held special meaning to her.  As soon as I returned from vacation, I went to search for the item.  After approximately two hours of searching the yard and a compost bin, and using two different metal detectors, I located the cross in the lawn.  Phyllis is thrilled to have this precious item back with her!

Lost Wedding Band in Ulua Lagoon Ko Olina…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

Ko Lag 4 Ed
Ko Lag 4 Ed ring
This ring find began while I was in Ulua Lagoon hunting for a set of lost keys and a gentleman named Andy told me his friend Ed from Sacramento, California just lost his Wedding Band in the water as he was coming ashore from snorkeling. I told him I’d follow him over to the spot. Unfortunately there were a dozen kids playing in the knee deep water where the ring came off. Ed helped me mark out a grid and said the band was a Comfort Fit Titanium ring. After starting my in and out grid search I got a screaming target and there was a ring. I asked Ed is this yours? He looked at it rather hesitantly and said « No » with a look of bewilderment on his face. I said see your not the only one that has lost a ring recently. I said, « Don’t worry » and continued my grid search. I found several coins and a Matchbox car but no more rings. I talked it over with Ed to make sure I had covered the correct area and he assured me that I had. I thought maybe because so many kids were playing in the area that maybe as I was trying to avoid them yet cover the area I missed the ring. I told Ed let me try a search parallel to the shore and thankfully one of the Moms saw what I was trying to do and came down and got all the kids out of the grid. Two minutes later I got another screamer and there was a Tungsten ring in the scoop. « That’s it » Ed said with a sigh of relief. This is Tungsten not Titanium. Oh I guess your right but that’s the ring. I’m positive it was and Ed was so thrilled it was found. Now he wouldn’t have to explain to his wife how he lost his ring in knee deep water on their vacation. Aloha to Ed!

Widower’s Missing Wedding Band Found at Waterford, CT Beach

  • from Westerly (Rhode Island, United States)

Finding this wedding band was no different than waking up on Christmas morning as a kid – This was going to be the ultimate gift to someone!

Prior to beginning my search, I had no identifying information on Mr. Hage’s ring so I was not completely sure if the ring I found was the ring that belonged to Mr. Hage (Although, deep down I had high hopes this ring was the ring I was there to find). After confirming the ring belonged to Mr. Hage, I knew the best part was coming next. Aside from the excitement of finding a gold ring lost to Mother Nature, there is no better feeling than reuniting someone with their story that began 56 years ago.

I do this because sometimes all people have is a token to remind them of the best parts of their lives and those memories do not belong lost in the ocean.

My jewelry finding service covers Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and other surrounding states.

Lost Rental Car Keys .. Huntington State Beach, CA. .. Found in Dumpster

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

I had a call from Jason in Huntington State Beach. He believed it should be an easy search as he could get me to the exact location where He and his family had spent their day. They are visiting from Georgia. This was a rental car and the rental car company could not find a spare key. It was going to be an expensive and time consuming process to fix this problem.
The call came just as I was finishing my first attempt to find (4) rings lost in the sand 3 miles away, near the Balboa Pier. It would be a few hours till the beach at the pier would clear of people to give me the opportunity to do a proper grid search. The lady that lost her rings had given up hope, thinking that somebody on the beach had found them first. I did return and found the rings after searching for the keys.
I met Jason at Huntington State Beach near lifeguard tower #7. After searching the first area, he showed me his path to the car. That was a much larger location, but I started a grid. He walked back to the restrooms where he spotted a guy in a dumpster collecting recyclable cans. Then he remembered tossing garbage in the same trash dumpster. He asked the guy to see if there might be car keys in the bottom of the dumpster. Yes! Jason’s car keys lying in amongst the trash.
Well, I didn’t find the keys, but I did eliminate the areas where they could have been hiding. Also, the timing of our search happen to coincide with the man that had been dumpster diving..
Jason did reward the guy, who said he would be happy for something to help him buy dinner. I was also given a gratuity which is greatly appreciated.

Lost Silver Cross Necklace in Delaware, OH. “FOUND”

  • from Newark (Ohio, United States)
Contact:

Jon Baughman, a Ring Finder, received an email about a lost silver cross necklace somewhere in his back yard. He was adding a patio on the back on his house. During his work he was using a skid steer to move dirt away from the house and also use a compactor to compact the gravel  by the house as he lost his silver cross necklace somewhere throughout the day which was handed down from his grandma. All of the dirt was mud which has harden to almost undigable ground. After searching in the dirt with only finding nails and strap tin from the house construction. I expanded my search to the next area which is compacting. And there the silver cross necklace hiding in the grass right as he started compacting. He was very happy that I was able to find the lost silver cross necklace that he almost started to cry in joy.

Panerai Diver’s Watch Lost in 45′ of Water Lake Travis-Austin, Texas (found)

  • from Sugar Land (Texas, United States)

Panerai Diver’s Watch Lost in 45′ of water in Lake Travis-Austin, Texas.

I was contacted by Clint regarding his Panerai Divers Watch lost in 45 foot of water in Travis Lake. Clint said, he had been jumping off an elevated platform into the water when the watch broke free from his wrist and dropped 45 feet into the depths of Lake Travis.

Clint said he could identify a 15 x1 5 foot area in the water where he believed the watch had dropped and fell to the bottom. Clint provided additional details about the location and sent numerous photographs of the dock and water area that would need to be searched.

Clint informed me a few days later that his neighbor had hired a SCUBA diver to search for his lost watch but he came up empty handed.

Check out the video to see the outcome of this story!
