Lost gold chain and pendents in the sand! New Smyrna Beach, Florida!

I got a call from Spencer saying he lost a very sentimental gold chain with a gold cross and an actual Spanish coin from the sunken Atocha! Both the cross and the coin were gifts to Spencer from his folks and he cherished them very much. Normally he would not wear his chain at the beach but on this particular day the organization he volunteers with had a large group of young children at the beach and they were playing in the sand and shallow water only. As the afternoon wore on Spencer was getting hot and decided to take off his shirt and as he pulled his shirt over his head his chain caught and came off along with his shirt. Spencer was standing on the wet sand and as his chain landed on the sand a rather large rouge wave washed over his feet and his chain instantly disappeared! Spencer was stunned and immediately dropped to his knees and tried to find his chain running his fingers back and forth through the sand hoping desperately to find his treasured possession! He spent that whole afternoon walking back and forth combing the whole area and all he had to show for his efforts was a bad sunburn!

Later that evening a friend on Facebook suggested he call one of the Ring Finders in the area and Mr Moye Howard suggested my name because I was the closest to that particular area. At first Spencer was discouraged about even asking me to come out and look because a family member was sure that the rough waves and surf had washed the chain way out into deeper water and it would be impossible to actually find. I tried to reassure Spencer that because his chain, cross and coin were gold and that gold is super heavy it would very likely still be buried in the sand close to where he dropped it.

My wife and I met Spencer the next morning early as the tide was going out and Spencer showed me exactly where he was standing the moment he dropped his chain. It was very high up on the beach and I set out my flags and began my methodical grid search across the sand. I explained to Spencer that I would be digging any and all signals just to be sure and my very first target was a large washer. Five minutes later I dug an aluminum pull tab and on the third signal I dug carefully and about 4 inches down I spotted a glimmer of gold and sure enough….right where Spencer had said he was standing….was his beautiful chain with the cross and the coin buried at least six inches further down in the sand! (Rough waves and soft sand equals deep targets!) Spencer was speechless and overcome with emotion and it was a moment of pure joy and relief that I will never forget. I thank God for the opportunity to be a blessing to young Spencer and his family and this is my hope and prayer for all who ask for my help!

Lost and found gold diamond engagement ring at Sandbanks Provincial Park Ontario

Received a phone call from Anna about having lost her diamond engagement ring while at Sandbanks Provincial Park. Luckily, they were still at the park and we met up within the hour. Anna had secured her ring on her gold chain, not wanting to loose it. She was in the water with friends, playing in the waves with her floaty and figured that is where the ring was lost. Once they returned to their beach chairs, she noticed that her chain clasp was open and her chain was just dangling around her neck with the diamond ring missing. I started gridding the large area before the sandbars would swallow her ring due to high winds and waves. After an hour or so, and in need of a break, I headed back to where they were sitting. She asked if she could try my machine around where they were sitting while I rested. Having put the headset over ears, I started to swing the coil a couple of times to show her how to do so. Right away, she said she could hear a loud signal. Brushed away a bit of sand and she saw the glitter of gold. It was her beautiful diamond ring. Her reaction was priceless as she was so upset about having lost her ring. Another great recovery on a beautiful day at the beach. Life is good.

Lost necklace in the sand, Beach Haven NJ, LBI, recovered by, Edward Trapper, NJ Ring Finder

I was on the beach in LBI doing a recovery for a lady that had lost a ring the night before, when Anthony came  walking over. He asked  if I was able to help him. He lost his necklace in the sand just a few hours earlier. I told him I would be over as soon as I was finished, and asked if he could mark out the area prior to me getting there. When I got there he explained exactly what had happened, so I began looking in the area he had placed his beach cart and tackle box. Not long after, I got a nice sharp tone that I suspected would be his necklace, and sure enough it was, not far away from where he had set up for a day of fishing. Needless to say Anthony was totally relieve to have it back in his possession.

Lost Diamond Earring Found Inside House, Grosse Ile Michigan

A Diamond & the Ruff….

…..got a call from Vinnie that said his wife lost one of her diamond earrings and felt it was somewhere in the house. Sometime around 2am their dog was fussing about something so Claire got up and first went into the bathroom then headed in the dark to let the dog out into the backyard. Claire laid down on the couch for a few minutes and the dog finally returned. Returning to bed all was well until awakening and realizing the earring was missing. After chatting a bit to get more details, I did a walkthrough of the route that was taken to let the dog out. Visually not seeing anything, I started to scan the couch area with my orange Garrett carrot pin-pointer metal detector. Between 2 cushions I got a signal. Separating the cushions, I saw the earring stuck between them! Yelling to Claire that I found one of her best friends she came running over to reunite! Even though diamonds are formed under great pressure, when my Orange Garrett « karat » is under pressure, it makes finds that are a cut above the rest!

South Cape Beach, Mashpee, MA Lost I-phone Found and Returned

September 1, 2023: As Jamo’s daughter said “It was a great weekend on the Cape” at least until her father rushed into the water and lost his cell phone. The party of three searched for the phone but did not find it. Photos, contacts and other information was to spend three days buried in chest deep water. After viewing a 1851 Large Cent that Leighton (another RingFinder) had just found and abut 10 feet away that I heard a strong signal. It took two tries to get the target into my scoop and pull it from the bottom of the beach. Amazingly it was an I-phone11 in good looking condition.

At home I did not see any ingress of water into the phone, I pulled the SIM card and there was no sign of water there either. With all the power cords I had, none fit the Apple. I called Leighton and asked him to bring me one the next day.

The next day the phone was put on charge. A half an hour later it turned on with a photo splash screen which was locked. We tried a few common pass-codes and none worked. I did not know how the Emergency Number functioned and being hesitant about it dialing 911. I did not want to activate a 911 call. I spent some time researching and found Medical ID might yield some usable information. My luck, it only gave the owner’s name and age. There was no emergency contact name or number. However the first name was unique – Jamo.

I searched Facebook and found two matching names and with the age deleted one. I messaged the other and had no answer. I was able to deduce Jamo’s daughter’s name and from her Facebook page her husband’s name and his Facebook page. I messaged each of them and waited… A few hours later I received a text from Susie. I called her number and YES, the phone was her father’s. We held a short conversation which was interrupted by a call on my home phone from Jamo.

I told Susie I would call her back and answered My other phone. I talked with Jamo and related the story of finding the phone and search for the owner. As fate had it, Jamo was returning to Cape Cod the next day and we made arrangements to meet and make the return. The “Next Day” turned into another two days before the phone exchanged hands. At the exchange…shat an outstanding note Jamo had written and then read to me. This is one gift that is at the top of my most memorable returns the list.

The moral that we all can learn form this return it to put a contact phone number into your Medical ID if you have a cell phone. I have entered two contacts and my home phone number in mine, not that I plan to loose my phone, but one never knows what will happen. Lets all keep on smiling along with Jamo.

Lost Ring in Chestnut Hill – Philadelphia…Found!

I reached out to Rick after losing my ring at a 4th of July party, back in my hometown of Philadelphia.  He was scheduled to come out the next day, yet the weather did not cooperate.  Since I no longer live in the Philly area, I unfortunately had to wait until Labor for a redo.  Rick came out to the spot on the property where I knew I lost my ring, and in 30 seconds the ring was found.  Thank you again for communicating with me and for locating my ring – very happy!

Lost ring throwing football, Orange Beach – FOUND!

The other day I got a late message from Randi asking for help over in Orange Beach. Her husband Brayden was throwing a ball out in the Gulf and when the ball hit his left hand he watched as his wedding band dropped into the Gulf. They enlisted the help of some friends to look for an hour but didn’t have any success. When I spoke to Randi on the phone I told her that was my specialty and I’d be glad to help. That afternoon I drove over to Orange Beach and realized that it was at Romar House. They are wonderful people there and sure enough when I went inside they remembered me helping some other guests and immediately gave me a temporary parking pass. When I came back out I met Brayden and he quickly filled me in and explained that he had only been married since October. I told him that we had to find his ring and it was so new it was still shiny. 😃 When we got to the beach, Randi and several of their friends were lined up in their chairs ready to watch “the show”. I waded out with Brayden and one of his buddies waved us a bit more East. I took about 4 more steps to the East and then based on the tide charts, I took three more steps to the South and yelled over to Brayden not to move so I had a reference point. I literally went about 5 feet and heard a great tone. I got it on the first scoop and yelled over to Brayden, “It’s that easy” with a big smile. I didn’t realize that Randi was videoing but it definitely shows the excitement better than I can explain it. Thanks Brayden and Randi for trusting me. Now you have an awesome story for the rest of your long and happy marriage.

Lost White Gold and Diamonds Engagement & Wedding Bands at Ulua Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a call from Daveta who was very stressed out that she just lost her White Gold & Diamonds Wedding & Engagement Rings in Ulua Lagoon at Ko Olina Resort.  Daveta and her family were visiting from New York City and enjoying some time at the resort.  While coming ashore a wave slammed into Daveta, knocked her down and both her rings came off in shallow water along the shoreline.  Several beachgoers tried to assist with the find but it was hopeless in the soft sand.  Daveta told one of the Aloha Security Mobile Patrols and they told her, « We got a guy named Joe that can help you and we’ll get you his number. »  I told Daveta traffic was backed up but as soon as it eased up a bit I’d head over and do a hunt before the sun went down.  The normal 40 minute drive took over an hour and a half but I still had plenty of daylight left.  I took the pictures Daveta sent me and lined up the grid markers.  I started on the North Side and worked South.  On the third leg of the grid I got an awesome tone with two targets and I knew I was on the spot.  In one scoop, both of Daveta’s gorgeous rings were glistening in the scoop.  I went to my car and texted Daveta the good news.  As you can see in the pic Daveta came over to my home for the return.  Vacation saved!  Aloha to Daveta and her wonderful family!

Lost Tungsten Wedding Band at Aulani Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

This ring hunt began when I got a text from Deana stating her husband Roland lost his Dark Tungsten Wedding Band in Aulani Lagoon and it was engraved with a date.  They were visiting and on vacation from Arizona.  Roland had just entered the water and as he was standing in neck deep water his ring fell off and disappeared.  They tried searching but it was fruitless in the stirred up lagoon with very little visibility.  Since it happened at a high tide I told Deana I would come during the morning low tide in hopes I wouldn’t have to use scuba.  When I arrived the next morning Roland & Deana met me on the beach with their two daughters.  Roland helped me draw some grid lines in the sand and I started the search.  I went out to the deepest part as the tide was coming in and I wanted to get the most depth.  No joy there!  I started the perpendicular to shore search and after about 40 minutes completing the grid with no luck I asked Roland if I should expand the grid which direction should I go?  He said try left.  On the second leg of the expanded grid I got a nice loud tone on the Nox and in one scoop there was the dark tungsten ring in the scoop.  I yelled to the beach chairs, ‘I found it! »  Roland & Deana came running down to the water and were both overfilled with joy that the recovery was successful.  Deana told me it was her birthday and that was the greatest gift ever.  Aloha to Roland & Deana who can now relax and enjoy the rest of their vacation.

Lost Wedding Band Recovered & Returned at White Lake NC

On Saturday 8/26/2023 I was out swimming and diving with my metal detector at the lake when I met a nice family who saw me metal detecting in the water. They explained that a couple weeks earlier that their son had lost a ring on the other side of the lake in the water behind a private rental they had been staying at. I offered my help in recovering the ring and that I was a member of the ring finders group online and that we always love helping people. I also explained my front plate had my number and theringfinders information on my truck in the parking lot.  We parted ways and I continued metal detecting some and when I was heading back to the truck I met her again and showed her to my truck. She took a photo of my info on my plate and we spoke a few minutes more.

The next day I received a call from her son who explained everything and sent me photos of where he was in the water. I agreed to do the search and I called the property Manager to obtain permission to be there. Permission was granted and I went down the very next morning 8/28/2023 to look for the ring. I was in the water about two hours when I found his ring. I sent him photos to confirm I found it and called him. The next day on Tuesday 8/29/2023 we met and the ring was returned. I was happy I could help and he was extremely happy about getting it back.  It’s always a pleasure helping people.
