Lost Wedding Ring in Lake Geneva, WI… Found!

  • from Lake Geneva (Wisconsin, United States)

The smiles show the ring is returned!

I received a call from fellow Ring Finder, Paul Humphrey, around 8:00 pm, just days after signing up to be a Ring Finder member.  Paul was gracious enough to hand tonight’s recovery off to me, as I live only five minutes from the site.  As sundown was drawing near, I gathered up my gear and headed off to Lake Geneva’s Riveria Beach for my first recovery.

I knew this beach well as I detect on it almost daily in the summer.  It’s a hot spot for Chicagoans to escape to, and it gets lots of foot traffic.  Nimer, his wife Elise, and two children were enjoying a beautiful day at the beach when Nimer waved to Elise from the lake.  The day soured as Nimer felt his gold wedding band of 16 years leave his finger and plunk into the water.  Although only waist deep when lost, hours of searching brought no success.  The family returned to Chicago.

Speaking to Nimer on the phone, I asked a series of questions to roughly pinpoint his location, which hand he wore the ring on, how he waved to Elise, the time, and description of the ring.  I knew I needed to visualize the scene that occurred nine hours earlier.

I stepped into the water around 8:30 pm.  Dusk was on time and I knew my work would be cut out for me in 30 minutes or less.  There were still many people on the beach, but the area I needed to work in was thankfully vacant.  I said a prayer and began the search.  After finding a nail and pull tab, I was elated to see a large gold wedding band staring up at me through the shimmering water.  I stared at it a moment wondering if my mind was simply creating the image of what I wanted to see.  No, I had found Nimer’s ring.. on my third target and after only 30 minutes of searching.  It was a large, beautiful ring and felt loose even when on my thumb.  I checked the inscription and it matched Nimer’s description.  Success!

I received a call from a young man named Zemraan in Leesburg Virginia whose mother had lost her wedding ring inside the house. She was very frantic to locate her precious wedding ring and asked her son to try to find someone who could help locate the ring. I don’t typically get many calls for inside searches but since it was close I figured I give them a visit. After arriving at the home her son Zemraan told me that he had picked up the rings to bring to his mother upstairs and shortly afterwards she realized one was missing. He took me downstairs to the basement where two bedrooms were setup. I initially scanned the Mom’s room and searched every inch of the bedroom and with no luck, then I moved to the next bedroom which was at the bottom of the stairway. After about 40 minutes of searching every crevice, floor molding crack, in/around, and under ever object the ring was found. Very Happy Customer!!

John`s daughter had the ring custom made for his birthday out of 18k white gold and 7 diamonds. John was planting potatoes behind his orchard when after spreading the straw around them he noticed his ring was missing.  After calling me I arrived the next morning, surveyed the potato plot and decided that I could cover the whole plot. Luckily the corner that I started at was where it was lost, and it was found within six footsteps.  Another happy customer.

Chloe had lost one of two rings her mother had passed down to her. It was one of two matching gold with diamond rings that her father gave to her mother. One was her mother’s  wedding ring and the other was given to her mother the day Chloe was born.

Chloe had been sitting in the sand at Belmont Shores on the bayside with her friends. It was dark when she flicked her hand and one of the rings went flying into the sand. Everyone tried to find it with no success. She returned to her house just a block away, where She began to search the internet for ideas to help her find the ring. She was able to get my contact information but was afraid to call so late at night. After not sleeping well , worrying that the heirloom ring was lost forever. Chloe called me at 5:30am apologizing for the early call. I assured her it is never a problem and it is important to call ASAP.

She was going to try to rest for a bit and said she could meet me at 8:30am .. I was at the location an hour early just to make sure I claimed the area as a search location. After Chloe showed up she gave me a smaller plot of sand to search. Her precious hierloom gold and diamond ring was in my scoop within  a few minutes. Then her face lit up with a big smile and you could see the relief from all the worrying she had gone through for the past 12 hours.

Man’s Wedding Band Lost & Found on Private Dennis, Massachusetts Beach.

  • from Cape Cod (Massachusetts, United States)

With sun screen lotion applied and ready for a great game of Spikeball Thomas was ready to enjoy his vacation get away. Not only was he ready so was his ring. His ring had been waiting for two years for a short bit of freedom to frolic on a sandy beach for a day. A quick spike at a ball and then it took its chance.

Several hours of looking and hand sifting of the sand did not reveal the ring’s hiding place. A call to a Ring Finder … and I was on my way. Within 20 minutes I was talking to Thomas face to face. A short walk to the beach and Thomas was pointing out where the blanket was, where Spikeball was played, and the area where he had swam.

Low tide was now, so I started the search at the water’s edge and progressed up the beach’s slope. At the top of the slope was the area where Spike Ball was played and Thomas’s wedding band had made its escape. The dry sand was to be my second area to search. The entire beach had been cleaned with a beach rake and I could see not only my tracks of the tight search pattern I was holding but also Thomas’s footprints. As I passed my coil over Thomas’s footprint I head the signal that was unmistakably from a desirable target. Two scoops, a spread of the sand pile, and there was a “clunk clunk” from my scoop. I knew I had the item I was searching for, Thomas’ ring. To my surprise 5/12/18 was inscribed in side…my birthday May 12th.

I walked back to Thomas’s cottage and rinsed off my gear, and took a few notes after giving Thomas his ring. I had forgotten to pick up my camera and cell phone that were charging and my unfinished fresh cup of coffee when I left home. Thomas came to my aid and took the pictures needed for this story and offered a cup of coffee. Happy vacation days can now continue with smiles and a new vacation story to tell.

Got a phone call to go look for a couple rings that a lady had lost a couple days ago while swimming at a camp ground near Bancroft. After 4 1/2 hours of swinging the coil, and drinking tons of water to beat off the heat, I found them both about 3 feet appart in knee deep water. One happy lady and now, they can relax and enjoy the rest of their family vacation 🙂. Big thanks goes to Steve Zazulyk for putting me onto this call. You know anyone who has lost jewelry, on land or in water (down to 100 feet, Scuba), send me a PM. I cover anywhere between Kingston, Bancroft and Cobourg (including Prince Edward County). I received a call from David who was calling for a friend that had lost his ring in the sand at the beach. David remembered me from 3 years prior when he called me for another friend who had lost his ring, which I found. This time his friend Brian had put his wedding ring in his hat when he went into the water, but forgot when his belongings were moved so the two of them could practice their Wifflle Ball skills. I let them know I would be able to come right away.

I got to the area, and David found me to wave me over the spot of the loss. He showed me the area, which did not seem to be large, right next to a trash can. I began my search grid, not finding anything. I then began a grid behind the trash can, and right next to it received a good signal. I had to scoop a couple of times because the target was moving, but when I raised the scoop, inside was a nice gold ring. I gave it back to Brian, who was happy he did not have to go home and have to explain to his wife how it was lost.😊 Another great day!

Jake was paddle boarding off of his neighborhood dock when his gold wedding band slipped off. He called me and we set a date to search. My wife, son, and I met Jake and he took us to the dock. As you can see from the photos, it was a beautiful day for a search.

The depth was about 10 feet with visibility from zero to five feet. After discussing the variables with my shore crew, I decided to use a circle search reel of my own design. There were some sunken logs and debris entangled with fishing line and hooks. This complicated the search. After about 45 minutes, I got a signal on my safety line to surface from my dive master. After some more discussions with Jake, she recommended I shift my search area about 40 feet upriver. It’s a good thing since that is where I found the ring!

Lost Wedding Ring Found Dumfries, Virginia

  • from Fairfax (Virginia, United States)

May 16th, 2020.

Nikki and her husband David were enjoying their lovely backyard with the family. While David was playing with one of the children, his ring flew off and bounced off the patio and into the wet grass. After they searched unsuccessfully, they called me. I searched about 45 minutes before finding the ring embedded in the mud under the wet grass. So happy to have met patriots like Nikki & David. A portion of their reward has gone to Fisher House.
