Lost Sanitary Sewer Manhole and Lid Found in Oxford Michigan

A Dirty Job……

….awaits Kevin tomorrow, but first he needed the manhole located so a camera can be used to find the problem.

He examined some old drawings which led him to an approximate area. Looking at the ground it appeared that the manhole was covered over by about 2 feet of soil then topped with sod years ago. I first checked for property markers to help establish the width of the easement. I elected to use my 2-box metal detector thinking the manhole lid was deep. I received no signal on the supposed deep location. Gridding with the metal detector perpendicular to the known sewer line and moving towards the septic field I was about 20 feet from the main line when the 2-box metal detector sounded off. Boxing in the signal and poking my probe bar into the ground we heard a nice hollow metal sound representing the manhole lid. Digging the sod around the circle shape revealed the rusty lid of the manhole just below the sod! Thrilled about finding the manhole but not about the upcoming job, I let Kevin off easy by not having him pull the lid and posing with it for a picture!

Dave MacDonald Excels in Lost Ring Recovery at Hendry’s Beach, Santa Barbara
Last night, Alex called me en route to church, distraught over a lost ring. He’d been at Hendry’s Beach in Santa Barbara with his family, enjoying the calm before a swim in the Pacific. As he dipped his hands in, his ring—a sentimental replica of his father’s wedding band—slipped off and vanished into the ocean floor. Knowing the odds without pro gear, Alex turned to Dave MacDonald Ringfinder at davetheringfinder.com, the expert for lost ring recovery in Santa Barbara.
I acted fast—time’s critical for lost ring recovery. Tides favored a 5:30 am low at Hendry’s Beach, so I arrived by 4:30 am with my top-tier metal detector. I’ve mastered searches from East Beach to Hammonds Beach, and I gridded the area meticulously. Ten minutes in, a strong signal blared near Bates Beach-like depths. With precision, I scooped Alex’s ring from the sand—safe and sound. His gratitude echoed across Loon Point Beach to Leadbetter Beach.

*** Nico’s mother called ma asking about how the metal detecting service works. Most people don’t even know that this type service exists. I asked a few questions about what was lost and generally where the loss occurred. It seemed her son Nico had been at one of the Malibu, CA. Beaches.

He dropped a small gold pendant in the sand and couldn’t find it. The pendant was a gift from his grandmother in Italy. He was very upset because it was such a special gift that he wears daily. I explained to his mother how the service works, giving he assurance that I could find a small gold item in the sand with my equipment. It was very important that he have the location secure till I arrived. The recovery should be quick if he is there to guide me to a small area.

Everything worked out well, with Nico meeting me at the top of the cliff side beach. We walked down the steep trail to a beautiful secluded beach. I set up my high frequency metal detector to detect a very small gold item. It was a whisper of a signal but enough to alert me to dig with my sand scoop .. YEP! a glimmer of yellow gold in the scoop that was what we were looking for.

Happy, Overjoyed and Relieved that the pendant wasn’t lost forever. Nico and his friends celebrating with high fives.

*** Jack called me to help him eliminate a few places where he thought his gold wedding ring might be in his yard.. This ring has been on his finger for 37 years and means a lot to he and his wife. Because he hadn’t felt the ring come off and didn’t discover it missing till the day after doing his gardening, he felt it was going to be impossible to find.

When he called me, I was able to set up a search of his yard that same morning. We met at his home which had just had a new front turf lawn installed with new planters where he just planted flowers. A grid search of the lawn and planters showed no sign of the ring.

Then Jack remembered that he had taken mulch to add to a dozen large potted plants in the backyard. The large pots required using a hand held pinpointer detector to search the surface mulch soil. Nearing the last of 12 pots, I got a metal signal. I asked Jack to run his fingers in the soft soil because I couldn’t reach that spot. BOOM ! Jack yelled with excitement that he had the ring. It was crazy because we both knew we were running out of places to search.. It was a awesome recovery, surprising both of us. This never gets old, love making smiles and saving irreplaceable sentimental keepsakes.

Day before the wedding.

  • from Lincoln (Nebraska, United States)

Alex was getting married tomorrow regardless if her fiancées ring was found or not. She searched while the kids were at school thinking she lost it in the half a block walk to school. The kids helped looked after school. She even checked with the police to see if one was found. Then she found us on theringfinders.com. Well the knowledge that the pros were on their way over with their special equipment and they will find it was more than a 7 yrld who had helped search for it could take. She fessed up and told mommy that she had found it and hid it in her dresser. What a story this was for Nelson and I to work through.

Gold Ring Lost and Found in Buena Park, CA. Back Yard by Metal Detector Man

*** Tom returned home from a camping trip. He took his camping gear into the back yard to clean it up before storing it in the garage. Two hours later, after going inside the house he realized his gold ring was no longer on his finger. He rented a metal detector from a tool supply business and was unable to find the ring. After doing some research on line about using a metal detector he found TheRingFinders directory. He called me.

I was able to meet Tom at his home a couple hours later. He showed me a small grass area and planters that the ring may be hiding. When I asked him about the last time he remembered seeing the ring on his hand, he couldn’t quite remember.

I only knew it was a yellow gold ring and that he had been shaking out the tent and some sleeping bags, hanging them on a cloth line type cable. First I did the planters as he assumed the ring may have traveled some distance. I also wanted to use a leaf blower to knock the ring out of the shrubbery ( that has been successful on a couple of my past searches )

Tom works from and had to leave me in the yard while taking a call. Before resorting to use the leaf blower I wanted to scan the grass area. BOOM ! Gold Ring in the grass directly under the clothesline where he had hung the sleeping bags. The grass wasn’t sparse and if I starred long enough at the spot where I got the signal, I could easily see it. Sometimes, time of day when the sun is just in the right position it will help to  make a visual search a success.

I left the ring right there where it was hiding. When Tom came outside I was able to guide him to his ring. He was amazed, because he had sent a lot of time with a rental metal detector and physically crawling on his hands and knees in that very spot.~ He was very happy and relieved that he had his ring back where it belongs.

Lost Titanium Ring Found In The Grass In Perrysburg Ohio

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

Don’t Be Sod, Help Is On The Way…….

….was the last words spoken to Tae as I was heading to see him early this morning. Upon arrival he told me he was attempting to multitask yesterday as warm temperatures and sunny weather inspired him to start his yard cleanup projects. Sometime during the mulching, tree planting and roaming the yard his ring came off. Turning on and go with my MXT metal detector had me grid searching the yard in no time. Scanning over the clean ground in thick grass I got a signal on the MXT meter in the range of where his ring should be. Probing thru the grizzly mass with my small pinpointer metal detector verified the signal….a gorgeous titanium ring with small diamond chips inlayed! Holding it up Tae raced over quickly and was thrilled that his lawnmower didn’t find it first. With the recovery gaining him home turf advantage, he’s back on solid ground with his lawn ‘n’ order!

*** SINA and her family had spent the day and evening at Corona Del Mar State Beach with is Newport Beah, CA. They played volleyball and had been at the Firepits till the beach closed at 10pm.

When they got ready to leave Sina’s watch was missing from the pocket in her jacket. They spent two hours searching the sand. Then Sina got my information from her friend that I had helped find a lost ring last year.

They called me just after midnight, apologizing for the late call but needing help. I live just a couple miles from the beach and told them would meet them at the volleyball courts in 20 minutes.

They believed that the watch was most likely at the volleyball court in the sand or possibly at the fire pit where she had been most the day. I set up my detector and began a grid search in the dark. About 15 minutes into the search, BOOM! a good signal and I carefully scooped up the watch.

They were completely surprised because after they saw how tedious the grid search process was, they knew it was a large area that could have taken hours to search. The best chance to find the watch in a timely manner,  was to start where the most action occurred. The truth is we were lucky to start at the volleyball court.

Happy family and especially Sina who had her watch back where it belongs.. I love being available to help people find their lost valuables.m

Man’s Gold Wedding Band Lost in the Dry Sand, Found and Returned Myrtle Beach SC

  • from North Myrtle Beach (South Carolina, United States)

A little after 10 p.m. on Friday, I received a call from Murali saying he had lost his gold wedding band and wondered if I could help find it. I asked him for the details and he stated he was cleaning the sand off his son and felt the ring slide off his finger. I asked him his location and he told me he was at 75th Ave in North Myrtle Beach. We figured out he was actually in Myrtle Beach, so I needed to call Matt Fry, the TRF for Myrtle Beach. Since it was late, I figured Matt was already down for the night, but I called anyway. I didn’t get an answer from Matt so I called Murali back and told him I’d be there in 20 minutes. I grabbed my Equinox 800 and was on my way.

When I got to the beach I called him and told him I was there. It was dark but luckily he had a flashlight and started signaling me. We met and he showed me the area he thought the ring came off. He also had marked the area he cleaned his son up but was sure the ring wasn’t in that area. I made two grid lines across the area he had marked off with no signals. Since I was next to the area where he cleaned his son, I thought I’d go ahead and clear that area. BOOM! I got a 13/14 on the VDI, which is either a thin gold ring, or a pull tab. In this case it was his wedding band. I dug a scoop of sand, shook the sand out and saw his ring. I held the scoop up and let him remove his ring. He was extremely surprised as well as overwhelmed with happiness.

Murali – Thank you for trusting me and The Ring Finders to help find your lost treasure. Enjoy the rest of your vacation!
