White Gold Diamond Ring Lost in the Sand in Litchfield, SC. Found and Returned

Rhonda called me about 8:30 pm saying I had been referred to her by the Minelab Distributor in the area, and was hopeful I could help find one of her lost rings. She said that she had lost 5 rings in the sand after she had taken them off to apply sun tan lotion. She went on to say, that her and her boyfriend had found 4 of the 5 but couldn’t find her diamond ring. She was wondering when I might be available to help look for it. I don’t like waiting to do a ring search because too many things could happen between the time of loss and me getting there to search. So, I told her I’d be there in about 30 minutes, got the address, grabbed my detector and was on the road.

I called her when I got there and she met me in the parking lot. We walked out to the beach and luckily she knew exactly where the area was that the ring was lost. I think it took longer for the detector to turn on and me to get ready then it did to find her ring. She put me dead on the spot, 3 swings and I got the tone, looked at the numbers on the detector and saw the 9/10 and knew I had white gold. I took a small scoop of sand, checked the hole to make sure I had her ring and searched the scoop. I very gently pulled her beautiful diamond ring out of my scoop. She was a little shocked that it turned up so quickly. A great happy ending to their vacation.

Lost 10 Years White Gold Ring Found In Farmington Hills Michigan

A huge amount of people worldwide go missing each year, but it’s always great when you read about a missing person being found, even tho you may or may not be the family members or friend of the missing person, today’s media coverage let’s you be right there with the details of whats going on, much more personal than before the internet.
Even tho an inanimate object like a ring is not a living person, when a piece of jewelry goes missing, the sentimental and emotional feelings a person has about that and the person whom it belonged to can take on the feelings of it being a living thing.
The story of this missing ring started ten yrs ago when the pictured lady’s husband was mowing grass and it came off. They searched off and on to no avail and her husband passed away a few yrs later. Late Nov. of 2018 I got in touch with her and went out to search only to find frozen ground. She wasn’t quite sure of the metal type either white gold or silver. She had an old picture of it when it was new (1st pic) and I thought ok well I will look for both metal ID’s and ignore everything else. It has 4 small diamonds on it and I thought it was white gold cos’ not too many people put diamonds in silver settings but there are some that do. I took some notes on signals I got and we decided to search again in the spring. Today I grid searched the area where she remembered him saying he was when the ring came off. I had to clear quite a bit of junk to get thru as I wasn’t sure how far down the ring may have settled over the years but I did have a number I was looking for on the MXT from past searches. The soil was black as coal and silty but the ground was damp and easy to dig. As I swept the coil I got a repeatable, sharp and short signal +12 with a reading about 3″ deep and decided to dig. As I was pinpointing, the signal kept saying I’m here plz find me! Moving dirt to the side of the hole I saw a silver object with nice contrast against the soil shining back at me happily that it was soon to be free from it’s entombment.
I waved for her to come to the back and I have never seen a person run so fast! She looked down into the hole and pulled the ring from the earth and looked at me and no words were needed as to how thrilled she was! So after 10yrs the rings rhodium coating got dulled a bit as can be seen in the pics, but other than that it was in great shape. As I was packing and cleaning my gear it was nice to listen to her call her friends and family members announcing that the spirit of this very sentimental ring and family member was reunited with it’s loving family…..back where it belonged!

Lost Platinum & Diamond Engagement Ring at Pililaau Army Beach…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a call from Reshell who lives in Kaimuki on Oahu. While enjoying some R & R at the Pililaau Army Recreation Center Beach her Engagement ring fell out of the beach chair’s puka storage and fell into the sand. Her Wedding Band had fallen too and she was able to spot it but the Engagement ring was gone. Being on the opposite side of the island from my home and rush hour traffic fast approaching Google maps said it was going to be 1 and a half hours to get there. Reshell was staying at the Center so I told her I would start making my way over. After a little over an hour I decided to call her to be watching for my car. Reshell’s went to voicemail. I tried several times with no luck. When I arrived I talked to the Military gate guard and they knew right where to find Reshell on the beach. It was at that time she noticed her phone was in silent mode and called me to apologize and to meet on the beach. We got to the beach area which was very small because of the shore break and thankfully the beach was sterile. After a quick hunt the ring wasn’t where the other ring had fallen as Reshell had the sense to mark that spot with a rock. I decided to start at the rock wall and work down to the wet sand. As I approached the rock wall I got a loud 6/7 tone on the Nox and one gentle scoop and there in the scoop was Reshell’s beautiful ring. Reshell thought maybe when she leaned the beach chair against the wall is when the engagement ring fell out. In any case the ring is back on her finger and she was tremendously relieved. Right place, right time!

I had just finished my time detecting at Newport Beach, and was heading back to the car and still swinging in the dry sand, when two young ladies approached me and asked if my detector could find Silver? I said it sure can, and then Kiley proceeded to tell me that she had lost her Silver ring that her Grandmother had given her, earlier in the day and if I could help her find it.

I asked her to show me the area, and she seemed to know about where it was, but I said that there were no towel marks or indication that they had been sitting there and she said she lost it earlier in the day. I figured it was probably still there, as I had not seen anyone else detecting the dry sand, and there were so many people there earlier, I doubt anyone had found it yet. I said I am a member of TheRingFinders.com and do this stuff a lot, and her and her friend had no idea a web site for this existed.

I asked her to walk a rectangle where she thought it would be and I started gridding it…. After about 5 minutes, I found a ring! I took it over to her and her friends and she said that was not it, and they had found that one earlier when they were searching with their hands! Why did they throw it back? She said it was OK and didn’t want me to spend too much time, it was probably just lost, and I said I would keep searching. They seemed ready to leave, so I told her if she gave me her number, I would text her if I found it and she did.

I went back to the area and finished the rectangle, with no luck, so I started going around the outside of the rectangle, expanding it to see if maybe it was just outside that area. After two enlarging passes around the outside, bingo, I found a silver ring with waves on it. I called Kiley and asked her what the ring looked like (she had never told me) and she said it had waves on it. I said « I have your ring in my hand! » She was thrilled and said « I am right behind you, we haven’t left yet! » and she came over to claim her ring.

Since I found nothing else tonight at the beach, I was glad to have returned her ring to her, and went home happy too.

Laura was at Huntington State Beach with her family all day Sunday. She believed that her Rose Gold Diamond engagement ring fell in the sand when she removed her sweater from her beach bag. Late Wednesday night she found TheRingFinders website while researching metal detectors on line.

It was almost midnight when she sent me an email. She was asking if I could help her. It was 9 am Thursday morning when I read and replied to her email, asking her to call me ASAP. Emails are nice but it was another couple hours till we were able to set up a meeting on the beach. 

We were lucky that it wasn’t Huntington City Beach which has very efficient beach sifting equipment. Also this time of year there is always a chance that recreational detectorist may have found it, not knowing who to return it to.

As we walked towards the fire pits where the ring was lost. I tried not to tell Laura about the negative possibilities that could hamper our search. Laura showed me the first of two places it could be. Setting up my detector, I took a couple practice swings. Beginning my grid I got nice solid signal that didn’t quite sound like gold. After scooping the target, I could see the rose gold engagement ring in the scoop. Rose gold is a composite of metals that gives a little different ID reading than other precious metals. 

Laura lit up like a light when she saw it in the scoop. She gave me a big smile for the photo as you can see. We walked back to our cars and she was full of joy all the way there. She had four miserable days worrying that her ring was gone forever. Now the ring was back where it belongs. It was definitely a pleasure to help her, it never gets old doing this.
