Three 250 lb anchors found in Lake Michigan at Eastport, Michigan

  • from Traverse City (Michigan, United States)

I received a call from Nancy that the sand had moved and they cannot find the three 250 lb anchors they use to anchor there boat in Lake Michigan. The blocks weight 250 lb each and have a re-rod hook in the top.

She needed this done asap due to the dock being installed in 3 days. Its a lot easier finding the blocks before the dock is installed. I could not make it till the weekend, so, I had my backup go. His name is Dave Coates, he has over 100 ring returns to his credit. The more impressive part is 90 percent of them were before the internet was invented. Dave said it took about an hour to find all three blocks. They were out in neck deep water due to Lake Michigan is about 2-3 feet above normal lake levels right now. Dave did not get any pictures of the blocks so I attached a picture of Dave on another call with me.

Ring and Pendant found in Higgins Lake, Michigan with a metal detector

This call started over text. I get a text at 8:00 pm « I need your help I found you on google » « Ur a ring finder right » « you can like find rings in water »?

This went on for 30 minutes then I got impatient and called the number. I got no answer so I texted « why are you not answering the phone if you need help ». Then get a response, I’m 15 turning 16 tomorrow I thought you would want to talk to an adult. Yes,Yes,Yes I would love to talk to an adult. Then Marissa texted her mothers phone number to me. I called Melissa and got the details of what had happened. Marissa was trying to pull herself up on a dock and the necklace she was wearing got caught and broke. The silver pendant and a ring she inherited from a close uncle fell in the water below. Marissa was devastated thinking she lost the ring for ever. By this time it was 9:00 pm so I told Melissa we needed to wait till the following morning to recover the ring and pendant in the daylight. They were 1 hour travel from me and it was getting dark fast. I asked Melissa to text me an address to the house.

I waited 1/2 hour for the address and it was not coming. I texted Melissa to remind her about the address. I needed it before I went to bed to see where they were located. She said Marissa was having a very hard time and could not settle down. I told Melissa I could talk to her I have 17 and 15 year old girls. She said that would be great she is trying to get ready for Marissa’s birthday the next day. I called Marissa with my magical powers. When I start talking about metal detectors and sand scoops girls/women just fall asleep. I did such an good job after I found the pendant and ring Melissa could not wake Marissa up. She about had to pry her out of bed with a crow bar. I showed Marissa the ring and pendant and she was very happy to get them back. She said it helped me talking to her the night before and explaining they were not gone I could find them.

Lost White Gold Engagement Ring With Diamonds Found In Wixom Michigan

I Dig Chicks With Sparklers!

The pictured couple was enjoying the 4th of July today playing with a RED ball under WHITE cloudy skies in a pool of BLUE water with their little FIRECRACKER daughter. She’s extremely active and full of energy and was described as having the energy of a hummingbird. As they were in the pool she threw the ball out of the pool onto the grass. Mom got out and upon returning the throw her engagement ring came off. When we talked they had been using a toy type metal detector so I said I can come by and wanted to make their 4th of July a better day. When I got there, chatting with mom where the ring may have fell off the lil’ daughter was zapping around the yard just like what they said. I started a grid search and it didn’t take too long when I got « the signal » we detectorists refer to as « the one »! Pinpointing with my Garrett carrot revealed this beautiful SPARKLER showing itself to me from the dark grass, mesmerizing me momentarily with it’s beauty making me feel like I wish time could stand still a bit longer! Mom came running over and reached down and pulled the ring from the grass totally ecstatic and frantically jumping up and down. Fiancee’ followed and their energy displayed was a different kind of FIREWORKS! I thanked them and they thanked me and I wished them the best in their new journey together pursuing their American dream and keeping the American Spirit Alive!
