……Came twice for Kristen. After dark on a rainy evening a few days ago she hit a pothole flattening her tire while leaving a family gathering. Assisting the person changing the tire, she was in and out of her vehicle. Back on the road and safely at home she noticed her rings were missing. Her and husband returned in the dark to search only finding themselves at a dead end. Fearing there was no outlet on this rough road we chatted for a few and agreed to proceed with caution this morning and search the area where she remembered being.

Turning on my MXT I quickly started a grid pattern up and down the side of the road, yielding but not being detoured by a few junk items below the frosty grass surface, up went the metal detectors discrimination with the attitude it’s my way or the highway. After 20 minutes or so I was closing in on the area in question and not far off the road I got a nice solid signal over a compressed section of grass where a vehicle was parked or where one drove off the road. Pinpointing the spot I pulled up the squashed grass and discovered Kristen’s gorgeous, 2 soldered rings pressed into the ground. Calling her over she reached down and lifted it out. I quickly checked for any damage with my jeweler’s loupe and saw none. She hit the road again and with the kids at play was totally thrilled that her ring was rescued and relieved that this incident passed with care.

Company Car Keys Lost in North Spokane,FOUND!!!

On this very cold night, Carlton learned how Newton’s third law works when you slip on ice. Carlton was heading out the door to his car when the 90 degree turn in the side walk covered in ice, took his footing away. His feet continued to move forward while his body fell backwards. In his right hand was the keys to his company owned vehicle. As he tried stopping his fall the keys went flying into the sky. The keys flew about 50ft away from where he fell. After Carlton and his family made several attempts to locate the keys with no success they decided to look on the roof. After that failed attempt, Google was the next step. They found a few metal detector rental location but no one was open at 6pm on a Sunday. Then Google showed them The Ring Finders. I answered the phone, and quickly found out where Carlton was located and headed his way. I could see when I got to the house the snow had been raked where the family thought the keys might be. I searched there with on luck and expanded my grid pattern to accommodate the force at which Carlton may have hucked his keys. I made about five passes in my grid pattern and got a signal that was 0 inches in depth. The pinpointer beeped with excitement as the black key fob popped out of the snow. Carlton may have lost his company’s vehicle key and also the way he was getting home that night. But The Ring Finders are always ready to help and return what was lost.

Sometimes lost ring searches arrive in our lives in the most unique ways, regardless of how they may come, recovering lost rings is The Ring Finders purpose.

Alex and Sam had a problem today. Sam had a cup in her hand and that cup had it out for Sam. See, Sam walked outside with her cup in hand and right before she reached her car the handle of the cup got snagged on her silver ring and the ring flew off into the freshly fallen snow. The frantic couple raked the snow with no luck. After no one would rent them a metal detector, Alex posted on facebook that a ring had been lost. That’s where I came into the story. I sent Sam a text and then we had a brief chat about where and when. I loaded up my gear and headed off to Cda Idaho. After reaching the destination of the couple’s front yard, I relived the moment with Sam of how she lost her ring. I quickly scanned the area where they raked and right at the end of the rake marks in the snow I got a hit in the high 80s on the vdi scale. The signal was reading less then an inch in depth so I turned my pinpointer and made quick work of revealing Sam’s lost Silver. I have to say her silver ring was one of the most beautiful silver rings I’ve seen. It had a large opal stone with silver facets that streamed across the tops of it. See the pictures. Sam told me that her mom had given her that ring 7 years ago when she was in high school. The back story coupled with the beautiful ring made my trip well worth it and is what makes The Ring Finders the best directory ever created.

Lost Gold Ring Found In Birmingham Michigan

The warmer than usual weather this week in the Detroit area was drawing people out for one last property cleanup effort. One of those people was Barrett. Barrett considers his yard a sacred place….a personal retreat and takes great pride in keeping his yard in pristine condition. Eager to get out of the house he approached the task of removing the leaves from under the bushes. Once in motion, moving around the bushes positioned the leaves ready to rake into the large pile. Once completed, he noticed his ring slipped off. This afternoon I turned on my MXT metal detector and scanned under the bushes. Nothing was detected in the loose dirt. I double checked the area with my Garrett carrot pin-pointer with the same result. Resuming the search with the MXT around the bushes and moving towards the leaf pile I got a metal signal in the range of where his ring should be on the detector meter. Pinpointing revealed the metal item was shallow and poking the pin-pointer into the thick ivy revealed his shiny gold wedding band! As I handed it to him he was thrilled it was found and now he could continue bagging up the leaves without worry and while enjoying the upcoming holidays, can look out the window at his grand designs.

Lost White Gold & Diamonds Engagement Ring at Aulani Resort…FOUND!!!

This Ring Find began when I was called by the Aulani Beach Team. They told me a guest lost her White Gold with Diamonds Engagement ring somewhere in the dry sand by their beach chairs. I told them I was doing a scuba hunt for a ring the next morning at the resort next door. Since I would be waiting for the sunrise I said I’d hunt for their ring first. The beach team gave me a 2nd row umbrella 4 location to start. When I arrived the next morning it was still dark so I moved all the location chairs out of the way first then I grabbed the Nox from my car and started the hunt. No ring in that box. Puzzled I noticed a guy sitting nearby drinking a cup of coffee intently watching me. I asked him if it was his wife that lost the ring and he said « No » but he saw the couple last night tearfully sifting sand looking for her lost ring. He was positive I was searching in the wrong spot. He was sure it was 3rd row umbrella 5. So I returned the other lounge chairs and cleared the new area. The gentleman walked away wishing me luck and as soon as he said that I got a nice tone on the Nox and in one scoop there was the ring. Thank you for having a messenger on the beach Lord! I informed the beach team of the successful recovery and they called the guest’s room. They said she burst into tears and that’s when I found out Shana from Ohio was only married one day and on her honeymoon when the ring fell off the lounge chair and disappeared. Shana and her husband were very grateful and obviously elated for the recovery. Honeymoon memories! Aloha to Shana!

Lost Palladium Wedding Band from 14 Story Plunge into Aulani’s Landscape…FOUND!!!

This ring find began as I was taking my good friend Alan metal detecting on the South Shore of Oahu. As we were leaving his house my phone rang and it was Edwin who was on vacation from Manteca, California and staying at the Aulani resort. He told me his three year old son was playing with his Palladium Wedding Band on the 14th floor balcony of their room at the Aulani. The ring rolled off a chair onto the deck, then plunged the 14 stories to the trees, bushes and land cover below. Edwin went down to see if it was an easy find and realized it was practically hopeless. I told Edwin that my friend Alan and I would reroute our trip and see if we could find the ring and it would be about 15 minutes to get there. When we arrived Edwin met us on the beach and escorted us to the area the ring was lost. I noticed when we arrived the ground cover was so thick and about a foot high this would require a thorough Pinpointer search and a lot of visual luck. Alan thankfully brought his Pro-Find 35 so I used that to scour the under brush and Alan swept the areas he could with his detector. Unfortunately the pinpointer kept going off because the irrigation system had metal everywhere. I decided I’d just have to go grid by grid and clear all the targets. At least the ring would be on top! After about 15 minutes and a few junk targets I moved a shrub branch with the pinpointer and lying on the leaves was a silver colored ring. I grabbed it and squinted to read Pd 950 and a date on the inside. BINGO we got it. We called Edwin and told him the good news. As you can see in the pick another smile for my book and vacation saved. Aloha to Edwin!

May called somewhat distressed. She had been brushing the sand off of her child at the beach when she snagged the chain around her neck that held the gold coin pendant that her mother had given her, and it was gone in an instant. It had just happened so I knew the prospect of a recovery was very good. I let her know I was on my way.

I found May when I got to the beach, and she showed me what had happened, and where the loss took place. I began my grid, and swept over the sand pass after pass, finally ending up near the bike path when I got a great solid gold signal, dug, and had the pendant in the scoop. I held it up for her, and she became very emotional, as did her mother who also happened to be there. It was a pleasure to have been able to help her that day.

Lost Ring in the snow in Iowa

This is a familiar story.  First Snow fall a nice young gentleman was wiping the snow off his truck with his hands and shakes his hands and loses his ring. He call me in a panic and distressed so I went down the next day to see what we could do. It didn’t take long and he was back in possession of his ring and a very grateful person. It never gets old when you have success stories like this.

Lost wedding ring in the grass, Orlando, Florida….Found and Returned to owner!

I received a call from Scott asking if I could help find his lost wedding ring in his front yard! I asked him the usual questions like…When did he lose it? How did it happen? and Did he have a good idea of the exact area where he lost it? And all of the answers that Scott gave me indicated that his lost wedding ring should not be very difficult to find.

Armed with that information and my trusty Garrett, ATMax metal detector I headed for Orlando with high hopes. Made me think of how many people have lost rings, earrings and necklaces while playing with their favorite pet! Sometimes they are able to find their lost item and at other times the grass or sand swallows their personal treasure, never to be seen again.

Scott on the other hand was very sure of the exact spot where he was when he felt his ring come off. So I began my grid search just wide of the area he indicated and it took only 5 minutes to get the solid, shallow signal I was looking for. And Scott was thrilled to get his lost wedding ring back and I was honored and thankful to have been given the opportunity to help him!

Lost Heirloom Platinum & Diamonds Engagement Ring in Aiea Yard…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when Yumi from Aiea called and said my fellow detectorist Brian referred me to her. He told her if anyone can find your ring it’s Joe. I appreciate the confidence Brian has in me but I thought the same of him. Yumi and I agreed to meet at her friend’s house where she lost her ring at 1:30 PM. today. When I arrived Yumi demonstrated how she walked up to a bench after finishing up washing dishes from the Food Truck flicked her hand once and both rings flew off. She didn’t notice which direction they went but she heard a « Ting » sound which sounded as if the ring hit the chain link fence. The way she flicked her hands and the rings being on her left hand I figured they would be to the left. Yumi & Rosie hunted extensively for a few days and a freak heavy winter storm flooded Rosie’s home and there was a fear the ring might be washed away. I started on the bottom level and worked towards the top. The Nox was practically useless with all the chain fence pieces, pull tabs, bottle caps & coins. The area was mostly dirt so I was thinking this should be an easy eyeball find with a bit of assistance from my pinpointer in the grassy areas. After 45 minutes of a thorough search I was about to give in. We covered it all at least in the left direction. Yumi admitted to raking a bit and that opened up the search in the other direction. No luck there either. Then as I was about to leave, I asked Yumi if we had moved the hose and she said, « NO! » We moved the hose from near the house pillar where the grass was the highest. I turned on my pinpointer and started moving the grass. Just as the PP went off I saw the beautiful Heirloom ring come into view alongside the Pillar surrounded by tall grass. Yumi screamed in disbelief and tears started to flow. I got a huge lump in my throat seeing how relieved she was that I found the ring. We all hugged and laughed thinking how her ring could have ended up where it did. The Rake…maybe so. No matter the other White Gold band remains and after they get a chance to remove some high grass along the fence it might be in the same spot. Aloha to Yumi & Josie!
