Christmas in January! Dione contacted me on the night before Christmas Eve day with a story of a lost wedding ring. On the day before, she was driving on the entrance road to a strip shopping center while running some errands  when another car turned in front of her almost hitting her. After a brief confrontation with the other driver, Dione headed to her bank and then drove home. After arriving home, Dione realized that her wedding ring was missing so she and her husband Timm immediately retraced her steps including searching on the shopping center entrance road which had a grassy median. Dione had become convinced that her loosely fitting ring had flown off when she was having an animated discussion with the other driver. She  told me that she had also thoroughly searched her home to no avail. Despite their best efforts, Dione and Timm had failed to find the wedding ring.
I met Timm the next morning at the shopping center search location and became somewhat discouraged to see that there was very little grass on the roadside or in the median for the ring to hide and that this was a high traffic area. I searched for over an hour anyway under Timm’s direction and we quickly determined that either the ring was not lost here or was picked up by someone. I started talking to Timm about reaching out to the Sheriff’s Department as well as searching at home again when Timm said that it was possible that the ring could have fallen off Dione’s finger in their yard. I told Timm that I could search his yard as well so we traveled 15 minutes to the home. I was unable to recover the ring after a 30 minute search.
Before I left, I told Timm and Dione to continue their search in the home but try to enjoy their Christmas because they had several grandchildren visiting and we would reconnect after the holiday.
Later that evening I received a text from Timm with great news. Granddaughter Mila knew where the ring was because she had taken it from her grandmother’s makeup room. The best Christmas gift ever!

Lost ring at South Mission Beach found

Hailey was out on the beach one evening playing a game. When she was done, she realized the ring given to her by her boyfriend at Christmas was not on her finger anymore. Soft sand and a 30 X 40 foot area and there was no way she was going to find it without help. I got the call the next morning, grabbed my gear, and headed to meet her. On a public beach, you need to get on these things right away so someone else doesn’t find it first and not know who to return it to. On arrival, I noticed that some heavy equipment had gone through the area…..not a good sign. I looked down the beach and could see that equipment at work moving sand around. A skip loader and a rake machine. Okay, that’s better than a sifter, but, still the ring could have been scooped and dumped somewhere else, or, the rake could have drug the ring out of the search area. Not all of the search area had been disturbed, so, we were hopeful. After about 15-20 minutes of gridding, I got the sound I was « looking » for, and one scoop later, I had her ring. It was just a fraction outside the raked section of sand. Whew! I’m glad I could help you Hailey, and thank you for the reward.

Gold wedding band lost, recovered and returned in Manayunk, Philadelphia, PA!

I’m still laughing about it….Hopefully Taylor and Scott are too!

Taylor found me via the Ring Finders Directory after her husband, Scott, lost his large gold wedding band. They live in a row home in the Manayunk area of Philadelphia, PA. Apparently, Scott was horsing around with their dogs on the front porch when he felt(and heard) his ring slip off his finger and bounce into the front yard. Unfortunately, the sloping front yard is quite unruly with the presence of 2-foot deep ground Ivy vine. They had been searching for hours in the dark the night before and then again the next morning before they finally asked me to come with my detector. I showed up around lunchtime the next day(1/18/21). When I walked up to their front door I noticed the search area was going to be quite a challenge….it was quite overgrown and sweeping my detector was not going to be possible. Not to be deterred I made me way into the deep brush with the intent to poke in and out of the brush with my small search coil. I worked my way up through weeds to the top of the slope closest to porch and noticed that they had been hard at work cutting away and removing the first 2 feet of deep weeds. Scott and Taylor were on the porch looking down on me and talking me through the actions that lead to the loss.

Now keep in mind…I’ve been there 60 seconds and haven’t even turned on my detector…I look down in the middle of the small area that they had cleared that morning…and hey….that looks like a ring???? I bend down and ha!….it is a ring. A large, white gold wedding band. I pick it up and hold it out to Scott…who is clearly shocked? dumbfounded? amazed? embarrassed?

We laughed and laughed. Who knows how they could’ve missed it…I just told them how happy I was to be able to find for them. And then I told them it was their loss that they didn’t get to witness my mad detector skills!

Lost Diamond Ring Recovered in Fredericksburg After Rare Snow Event – Returned to Owner!

Mid-afternoon on Sunday I received a frantic call from Shawn that his wife had lost the Diamond Engagement Ring of her wedding set while throwing snowballs at him. Earlier that day Shawn and Jessica learned that it could possibly snow in Fredericksburg, Texas that afternoon. Predicted accumulation was only about 1” (it only snows here about once every six years). Nevertheless, they drove from San Antonio to Fredericksburg because growing up in Florida Jessica had never seen snow before. The snow event happened and before you know it Jessica was rolling snowballs and having a grand time throwing them at Shawn. Uh oh, Jessica looked down and her Diamond Engagement Ring was missing from her finger! She knew she had it when the snow started because she had a picture of it from the restaurant they had eaten at.

So, Shawn looks on the web for metal detectors and finds me under TheRingFinders.com and my Kerrville-Fredericksburg Rings Finders Facebook page. He contacts me and explains the situation. He was positive of the ¼ acre location area in the city park that the ring was lost in. I asked him to call the police department for permission for me to metal detect in the park. They agreed but only to look for the ring and no holes were to dug (historical area). I agreed to brave the 25 mile drive from Kerrville in winter conditions and the 32 degree temperature to try to locate Jessica’s ring. When I arrived at the park the snow had stopped falling and most had already melted into the ground. They showed me the area that they thought the ring should be in. I started to detect with my Garrett AT Pro and found there were a lot of targets to be checked. I detected the entire area for about 1 hour and did not find her ring. The cold had gotten to me and it would be dark soon so I called off the search. I told Jessica and Shawn that I would come back when it was warmer in a couple of days to search for it again.

On Wednesday, the temperature reached the 60’s in the afternoon. My wife, Kathy, and I drove over to Fredericksburg and I again started detecting the area in the park that Jessica had lost her ring in. After about 30 minutes of swinging the detector I got a tone that rang true. Looking down in the grass I could see the glint of a diamond ring. Holy cow, Jessica’s ring!                                                              

I called my wife over and we recovered it from the grass. I text Jessica the pictures of it. She was elated to say the least! We made arrangements to meet on Friday to return the ring to her. The smile on Jessica face when she had the ring back on her finger says it all!

Shawn and Jessica did everything right when they noticed her diamond ring was missing. They did a quick scan and realized they would need a metal detector to find it. More importantly, they realized they need an experienced operator of the metal detector. They searched on the web and found a member of TheRingFinders.com that serviced the area. This is how Jessica was able to put her Diamond Ring back on her finger where it belongs!

LOST WEDDING BAND IN HACKBERRY , LA. – FOUND

John was from out of state, working to restore services to the Lake Charles area after the destruction of hurricane Laura. He was sweeping dried mud out of his truck seat when his white gold wedding band flew off his finger. He heard it hit some hurricane debris and before heading to parts unknown in the road ditch. He and a couple of fellow workers moved some of the trash and hand searched the area, No luck. He called Carrie and I the next day for help. Within 2 hours we were on site hunting. Since John had left his own metal detector back home, I lent him mine. After hunting for a few minutes he needed to head back to work and I started hunting. Within an hour, Carrie got a good signal in a thick clump of grass. Neither of us could see the source , so I had to cut and pull some blades of grass from the clump. We both got a visual at the same time. We messaged a picture of the ring to John and soon saw him drive up. Two people had checked that same clump the day before and had not seen the ring. Lots of smiles followed.

Lost Engagement Ring Found Outside of Calgary

Katrina called me about the custom Saphire and Diamond engagement ring she lost while cross country skiing near Turner Valley.  After chatting for a while, we decided that it would be more of a closure hunt (where it isn’t) than a ring find due to the fact that she covered a total of 10 km while skiing. We would check the places where she stopped for breaks.  We searched a lot of area that day.  Four hours later we returned and did a couple of final checks. You always find it in the last place you look.

Diamond and platinum Wedding band lost at Coral Springs , Florida… found and returned to owner

I got a call from a client Ron who was very upset about visiting a neighbors house and having his fiancé loose a Platinum Diamond engagement ring . He asked me if I could come over to Coral Springs to find his Platinum ring. He stated that he had been searching for it since Christmas Day with metal detectors . I came over about 0900 the next day. He kept asking me whether it flew off his fiancés finger into a nearby lake.. I really thought 20 feet was too far away . I began searching and after a few targets like the sprinkler system. I finally got the  prize target. He was soooo Happy .. and I felt very good also. What a good Christmas present although a little bit late.

Mia’s Diamond Stud Earring – Lost, Found, Returned in Kerrville, Texas

I received a message from Mia requesting help in finding her lost diamond stud earring. Mia explained that she was positive she lost her earing in the living room or bedroom of her home. She said that she had gone through all her clothes and bedding and in the living room she had even vacuumed the rug (and checked the vacuum canister). She had not found the earring but was truly clear and concise of where she thought she lost it. I knew that the size of the precious metal around the diamond would be extremely hard to detect but decided it was worth a shot anyway. My wife, Kathy, went with me to Mia’s home. Mia showed us into the living room with beautiful oak flooring. Adjoining the sofa was a 5’x8’ double shag rug. Mia said she felt that the earring might have fallen into the deep shag rug. Running my AT Pro pick up every nail in the wood flooring and checking my pro pointer with other earring yielded not sound at all. At this point I thought the only way to find the ring would be a visible search. After combing through the rug for several minutes Kathy said to turn the rug over and beat on it! Sure enough, after following my wife’s instructions there was the earring on the floor! Mia was happy to get her earring back and I was glad I followed my wife’s instructions. Lost Ring in the Snow Near Somerset, PA… Found!

Kim’s daughter lost her engagement ring in the snow while playing with their dog. She wasn’t actually sure where she had lost it, but after searching all through the house and in the trash, they concluded that it must’ve come off her hand while throwing a snowball to their dog outside. I got a call from Kim, who said she saw my success stories of ring recoveries on the internet and asked if I would come search for the ring even though I was about two hours away. She shared with me that the year has been rough for the family and was devastated that something like this had happened so close to Christmas. As she fought back tears, I reassured her that I would come out to look and do my best to recover the lost ring.

 

Julie (my wonderful girlfriend and somewhat reluctant assistant) and I made the drive to Normalville, PA, near Somerset, two days before Christmas to search Kim’s yard for the ring. After about an hour of grid searching the yard twice, I wondered if maybe Kim’s daughter had lost it somewhere in the house after all. Julie, ever so patiently waiting in the cold, told me to take another look near the steps closer to the house. I turned up the sensitivity on the machine a bit and went over to a deeper pile of snow near the steps and lo and behold, I got a faint signal. I pulled the ring out of the snow and yelled, “Hey baby, thanks!” as I held the ring up for her to see. Julie says there are times I don’t listen to her, but I’m glad I did today! Another successful ring recovery!
