LOST DIAMOND RING FOUND WAIKIKI

This all started when Lana gave me a call early August 8th  and asked if i would help look for her wedding ring which she lost in the water almost a week and a half ago. I let her know that I will do my best and give it a shot. Knowing that Waikiki is a detectors favorite and its been over a week I needed to get down there ASAP and bring along with me help. So, I asked my dad if he would be willing to help and as always… Dad said yes and we were out to Waikiki that very morning. After 4 and 1/2 hours my dad and I came up short. NO ring! We went home knowing we gave it a good scan but there was some variables like tide and there were a lot of people in the water. So, The very next morning I get a gut feeling to go back and look. I drive back out to Waikiki and start looking again. After 45 minutes I get a faint sound and decide to dig it. I dig a big scoop of sand out and toss it on the sea floor and run my coil over the hole. BOOM I get a louder tone and it sounds like gold. A few more digs and I run my coil over the gaping hole in the ocean bed in which i don’t hear anything. So, I run my coil over the mounds of sand that has been removed and BOOM its there. I scoop and whats inside my scoop is a huge size 11 14K White gold with diamonds and a center 2 karat diamond in the middle. I knew I found her ring. As i am on my way back to the shoreline to rinse off I see Hawaii News Now setup by the showers and I ask them if the lady from yesterday is ok? The exchange words and then Billy V from hawaii news now asked the question… Did you find her ring? i said YES! He asked to see it and if it would be ok to let hawaii News Now run a short story about this event. I said yes and the lights went on and then came ACTION! We were able to call Lana and film the good news of HOPE and ALOHA. Well this was definitely GOD orchestrated and the saying is true… ALOHA  IS ALIVE.

Lost Ring Orange Beach – FOUND! 2 Day Search!

Well, this was a tough one but it turned out great!  Crystal and her family were staying in Orange Beach, AL while they watched her daughter’s team compete in the World Series of Softball. Two days ago they were enjoying a much needed break cooling off in the Gulf of Mexico right before the sun went down. Crystal was standing in waist deep water trying to catch one of the bouncing water balls when tragedy struck. As the ball hit her left hand, both she and her husband saw her engagement ring fly off her hand and into the water. They looked and looked and raked their hands through the sand with goggles and masks and all of the volunteers they could get but they were unlucky and couldn’t find it. A very distraught Crystal did get a bit of luck later however when she found me on TheRingFinders and sent me an email. So yesterday after getting what I consider to be very thorough starting point directions, I began my search in the Gulf. I spent hours and ended up gridding out a really large area and I dug everything from fishing lures to a cell phone deep in the sand. I just couldn’t find it. I was bummed out and beat up from all the digging and I made the call to a very sad Crystal. Well I will say that the occasional one I can’t recover absolutely haunts me and I lay there when I got home last night thinking about anything that I could have done differently. After checking the tide graphs again, I decided that I would try even deeper and use a different mode on my machine. My wife gave me the okay this morning and even offered to come along. I started out neck deep and after only 2 passes I heard a strong signal. I switched the machine over so that I could hear what it was made out of and instantly heard that awesome gold tone. After a couple of gentle scoops, I had Crystal’s ring headed back to where it belongs. She was so sad yesterday, it was fun to hear her beside herself with happiness today. I’m very happy for you Crystal, thank you for giving me the chance to find your ring for you.

Lost Ring Portofino Pensacola Beach – FOUND!

Well believe it or not I found my third Texas A&M class ring of the year!  I think that if I find a fourth, I should get an honorary Aggie t-shirt. 😃  I had the pleasure of meeting Evan and his girlfriend Dallas who were in town with family out at Portofino over the weekend. Evan found me on Ringfinders and reached out and let me know that he had a big problem.  He was playing paddleball out in the water with Dallas when his brand new solid gold class ring went flying off his hand.  They all tried looking for it but weren’t able to find it.  I let him know that I would be glad to come find it for him.  As is often the case, it wasn’t where it was supposed to be.  Luckily, this wasn’t my first time and after some thorough questioning, re-enactments and a check of the historic tide charts, I was able to give a very happy Evan back his ring.  What I thought was so neat is that Evan and Dallas told me they had seen the post from a few weeks ago where I found a man named Josh’s Texas A&M ring.  Throughout the search Josh told me that he had not removed that ring in 22 years.  Well you can see from the pictures that Josh was class of 97 and Evan is class of 19, exactly 22 years apart.  Isn’t it neat how fate works out sometimes.  😃  Congratulations Evan!

Lost Ring Orange Beach, AL – FOUND!!!

I am glad to say that I found my second Texas A&M class ring of the year today.  Josh emailed me this morning and let me know that he was throwing football in the Gulf yesterday when his class ring that he has had on his hand for 22 years went flying into the waves.  He immediately began to search for it and some kind strangers helped but the waves just knocked them around and the sand swallowed up the heavy gold ring.  Luckily he called me and I showed up this afternoon and after getting all the information I could, I began the search.  Josh stayed hopeful for the first hour and watched as I uncovered 2 different earrings and some other bits of metal.  I could tell he was starting to get down as I went into the second hour but I assured him that this was normal and the ring could move in heavy surf and sometimes it’s just not where you think it is but I wasn’t giving up.  Josh was kind enough to get me a Gatorade and as I took a break, I asked him to recreate exactly what happened the day before again.  I picked up another detail or two that allowed me to slightly adjust my search.  Sure enough, on the second pass I heard a good signal that had possibility so I called over Josh.  He was definitely not getting his hopes up but I have to say that when he saw the gold flashing in my scoop, I have never had anyone get so excited so fast.  He grabbed it and ran for the beach and then stopped, came back and started jumping up and down high fiving me.  I told him we should high five on the beach so we didn’t lose it again and we headed that way.  By that time, there were tons of people that came up to see if I had really found it.  It was just an awesome time and totally why I do this.  I feel like I’ve made a great new friend in Josh and I am truly happy that I could give him back something that has been such an ever present part of his life and his memories.  Congratulations Josh and thanks for calling me!

Sheila’s twice lost ring into Lake Sammamish in one day

I received a call from Sheila and she explained to me that she lost her diamond wedding ring in Lake Sammamish,  off a private residential dock. While she was dipping her toe over the edge of the dock to check the water temperature for a swim her loose fitting wedding ring of thirty years slipped off her finger into the lake. She continued to tell me that she could see the ring glistening on the bottom. She them jumps into the lake and retrieved the ring from about thirteen feet below. She had no place to secure the ring as she didn’t want it to fall off her finger again during the swim back so she placed it into her moth.

On her way to shore she was in about chest hight water when she started taking to her friend in the back yard when the ring slipped out of her mouth and back into the lake a second time! At this point her feet had stirred up the silt, boats going by were causing some wakes, she was getting cold and feared she might just keep steeping on the ring burying it deeper. So she noted the area and got out of the water.

She then went on line to find some professional assistance were she found me.

I agreed to assist in the recovery of her ring. Arriving with full dive gear not ever knowing exactly what to expect and how solid the information provided will be this has proven to make these missions much more successful than by simply free diving. Having the proper drysuit to keep warm and conferrable and and redundant air supplies for these types of task take a lot of other issues out of the loop. Of course SCUBA brings with it a whole other required skill set of its own to be done with proper risk management.

Sheila had told me way back in the day there was a lumber mill near the lake and many of their logs are still imbedded in the silt. She also provided a solid landmark that her feet was near one of the planks when she lost the ring the second time. These provided details greatly aided in the recovery effort by firmly marking the target zone of the search efforts.

The search took a bit of time as they sometimes do however I found the ring in the general area under water as Sheila described. 

I proceeded to surprise her with the ring and she was very happy to be reunited once again.

Toronto! Diamond Earring found! « Live Return » video

This is definitely one of the best Ring finder « Live Video » returns of the year.

One of the most difficult things to find are lost earrings with metal detectors! It takes a very specific detector and a lot of experience to locate such a finite piece of metal. The following story and amazing « Live Video Return » of the 1.5 Karat, near flawless Diamond earring is truly amazing! Finding this beautiful stone is a great example our commitment, persistence and experience here at Ringfinders!

I received a call from a woman who lost a very expensive diamond earring in the woods at a high end golf course just north of Toronto. Apparently while golfing she lost her ball in a small wooded area between 2 Fairways. The area was thick brush with a lot of branches and fall leaves on the ground . After the woman recovered the ball she remembered a branch grazing the side of her face on the way out. Once at her golf cart she noticed that one on the earrings that had been on her ear for over 20 years was gone!

The beautiful diamond was an anniversary gift from her beloved husband. Understandably she became frantic and went back into the woods on her hands and knees but could not find the beautiful stone. She notified the golf course and over a two-week period many of the Golf Course staff searched the wooded area for the earring. Trees were pruned, dead branches were cut and many individuals scoured the area for the earring with no avail!

After sometimes she decided to hire another detectorist to come out and look. Unfortunately after 2 days of thoroughly gridding the area  it was not located. At this point she gave me a call!

Along with having a very extensive repertoire of metal detecting equipment I am fortunate enough to be on the test team for one of the largest metal detecting companies in the world. Being on their test team allows me to have metal detectors that other ring finders and detectorists do not have and in the situation it greatly helped! Along with my extensive knowledge on finding very small pieces of metal and the right machine, I was extremely fortunate that day.

After arriving to the wooded area the woman told me the story. By this time she was completely exhausted and had given up all hope on finding the earring! I had told her this is only a matter of time and patience and I was quite sure that I would be able to find the earring for her. Unfortunately her face did not have as much confidence as I was hoping for and understandably. I started gridding the area with another detector but by this time the area looked literally like a minefield . Unfortunately no luck so I started testing the other ear ring that she still had on with my detectors. I finally found a prototype detector with a very specific setting I made heard it perfectly. At that point I literally walked over to the area where « I  » believed it had fell off and on the second swing got the beautiful signal I was expecting!

LOST WEDDING RING_FOUND IN WATER_ALA MOANA BEACH

On Monday January 8th I get a call from a worried yet hopeful Wife named Kate and she explains to me that her husband Ted was in the ocean at Ala Moana beach swimming around in 6 feet deep water when He lost his Damascus steel with 14K wedding ring. I advised Her to rest assure I will be on my way and to let Ted know that it will take me around 30 minutes. While I was packing up my gear and on the phone I started to gather as much information from Kate as i could so I would be able to narrow the beach search area. Once I got the info I  needed I let Kate know…Help is on the way.

 

Arrived to Ala Moana beach and met up with the couple. Ted marked out the place where he believes he lost it and I started the search. After a few minutes of searching the LOST ring FOUND its way back home! I asked ted  » is the ring stainless steel and White Gold?…Does it look like this? » And the moment they seen the ring I saw relief all over their faces. Ted and Kate was very thankful and the comfort of hearing OH MY GOD…YOU FOUND IT! let me know that this is MORE THAN A RING to them…ITS A COMMITMENT OF EVERLASTING LOVE and for me to be apart of reuniting their ring WAS MY PLEASURE. Business Trip to Hawaii Before Christmas, LOST WEDDING RING, SAVED by the TONE! GOTT’UM

On November 28th 2017 Steve just flew into Hawaii on a business trip. While here on island he decided to head to the beach and take a swim. He noticed a few kids playing football in the water and decided to join them. After some time playing he looked down and realized, NO WEDDING RING. It fell off and he started to look everywhere. The kids that were playing also stopped and put on their swimming goggles to help find his platinum wedding ring. After hours of looking they came up short. Steve was contemplating as to how he would  tell his wife that while on a business trip in Hawaii « I lost my wedding ring »!  Well, thanks to a friend of mine on the beach who noticed the commotion, he went over to Steve and asked if everything is ok.  Steve said « NO, I LOST MY WEDDING RING AND DON’T KNOW WHERE IT IS IN THE WATER ». That’s when I got the phone call. I was able to confirm with Steve that I would help him find his wedding ring and would be there in 30 minutes. I packed up the gear and my family as we were on our way to pick up our Christmas tree that evening. I arrived to the beach and noticed Steve walking waist deep in the ocean and still frantically looking. As I got closer, he looked up to me and yelled « KAI »? I responded  » I’m Ready » and started to gear up as my wife and son played on the beach. It was later in the evening and the sun was setting. After 40 minutes I finally GOT THAT TONE! I looked up to Steve who’s eye was full of depression and a lost of hope and he says « Whats this in the scoop? » At that time I heard a loud « HE FOUND IT »! I got the biggest hugs of ALOHA. In the scoop was Steve’s Platinum wedding ring. My Family and I were excited to see his joy and gratitude all over his face. Steve was very grateful that he thanked me so many times and I had to return with IT’S MY PLEASURE… Thank you Steve for believing in me and we both will have a very Merry Christmas.

Lost Ring Lake Erie

This was the hardest Ring find I have done since starting. When I was called by this lovely couple who were frantic about the ring they had lost I thought it would be a sure find. The man had been in Lake Erie swimming a few days earlier and lost  is platinum wedding ring in 3 feet of water. He wasn’t far from the beach and thought he knew exactly where it was. Should be easy right? However when I got there the winds had come up and there was 5 ft waves with zero visibility in the water. I had driven over an hour and a half to get there and when I saw the conditions my stomach sank. I knew this was going to be a hard one but  I have found some pretty difficult rings in the past and knew I needed to at least give it a try. When I went into the water there was also a lot of trash like tin foil which sounds terrible on a metal detector and can drown out the sound of gold. There was lots of pull tabs, pop tops (which by the way sound like gold on a detector) and Nails in the water making it even more difficult to find the ring. However I’ve been in bad conditions before and with the experience of finding over 300 rings I knew I might have a chance so I took my time and persevered.  The Zero visibility water and high waves were throwing me around quite vigorously for the better part of 20 minutes. However amongst all the odds I finally got a signal that I was sure sounded good. The bottom was solid stones  and gravel so I had to reach down a few times and pick up handfuls of the sharp stones until I finally got the target in my hand. When I came up from the water I saw the edge of a beautiful platinum ring amongst all the gravel in my hand. I held it up high and as the couple watched in disbelief I pulled out his lost wedding ring from the cup of my hand. They were amazed & ecstatic😀
