Wedding Band Recovered on Beach & Returned, Falmouth, Massachusetts

Ryan did the right thing when he removed his 3-month old wedding band before he waded in.  The cooling fall water can shrink a finger and make it easy for a ring to slip off.  He left the ring in his hat in the dry sand on the beach, enjoyed the  water, and spent a nice afternoon lounging in the sun with his new bride on this beautiful fall day.  Only when they were ready to leave after several hours did they realize that his ring was no longer in his hat and was nowhere to be found.  They searched on hands and knees through the soft dry sand, but this proved to be fruitless, as is almost always the case in such circumstances.

They did an online search which turned up my RingFinders site, and when I received their call I was able to meet them within about 15 minutes and head to the location where the ring was lost.  It was nearing sunset, but Ryan had a good idea of where the ring should be, and I had to search for only a few minutes before I able to locate it.  I snapped a few pictures and we shared some happy conversation as the sun set.  Another good day for the RingFinders!

Recently I noticed a post on a local Facebook page called Honeymoon Island Lost and Found that said someone named Olivia had lost her two wedding rings at Honeymoon Island State Park. I messaged Olivia and offered my metal detecting services to her and she responded to say that she would very much appreciate my help. Olivia told me that she was at the beach with some of her husband Anthony’s family the evening before and while in the water at about 6pm she felt her beautiful platinum diamond wedding ring and engraved titanium wedding band slip off of her finger. Apparently she had some lotion on her hands before she went into the water and the effect is to make your ring a size larger than what fits snugly fits your finger. Olivia and Anthony were married in May so she only had the rings a few months before they were lost and she feared that they were lost forever. I told Olivia that I had previously had some success recovering rings from the water and not to give up hope. Olivia sent me a photo of the rings and details regarding the loss area including the approximate location pinned on a Google map. I told her that I wanted to begin the search the next morning but Olivia said she could not meet me on location until after work that day. I said that I would begin about 11am using her map and other details because I did not want another metal detectorist to possibly search that area before I had a chance.

I arrived at the loss location about 11am and marked the pinned spot on the beach with my equipment bag. Olivia had told me the she was in knee to waist deep water only about 50 to 100 feet from the shore when the rings slid off. I began the water search with my detector by walking out a little deeper than I thought Olivia might have been and gridding parallel to the beach about 50 yards on either side of where I had laid my bag. Over the course of the next hour or so I moved gradually closer to shore, only targeting a couple of pull tabs and pennies. At that point, my detector moved over a promising target and as I was pinpointing the area to dig with my scoop, I detected another promising target a foot or two away. I scooped the first target from the bottom and when I shook the sand out, I saw the diamond ring at the bottom of the scoop! Of course at that point I had a pretty good idea what the second target was going to be and after a couple of scoop attempts I was also able to recover Olivia’s wedding band from the sandy bottom! Olivia certainly had provided great directions and it only took about an hour to recover both rings. I messaged Olivia when I got back to my car and told her that she had received the miracle she had asked for! About thirty minutes later Olivia messaged me and then called me and was obviously elated that she was getting her rings back. We arranged a time and place for a joyful return later that day.

Lost wedding ring in RV Park

While traveling back home from Arkansas over the weekend I had encountered a big mishap at our stop over outside of St Louis on Saturday night.

We had just parked the trailer and were walking the dogs when Penny’s leash caught my wedding rings just right and they went FLYING… Into the middle of a field of very thick, tall grass. Of course it was dark, why wouldn’t it be!! I didn’t move from my spot while Joe took the dogs back and grabbed flashlights. We searched for about 2 hours. We started weighing our options. Joe jumped on Reddit reaching out to see if he could find anyone willing to bring a metal detector for us. He stumbled upon a website called theringfinders.com

Luckily Jeremy Roth – The RingFinder’s responded right away and offered to come out early the very next morning so we wouldn’t have any delays in our travels. With his help I was able to recover my rings. And let me tell you, we weren’t even close to looking at where it had landed. The physics still isn’t adding up to me but what a relief!!! I’m forever grateful for Jeremy.

David and Avery were enjoying a day at the beach in Ocean City, NJ. Avery removed her promise ring and placed it on a t-shirt that was on top of a beach bag. When one of the family members took the bag, not realizing the ring was on it, the ring went missing. David reached out to me and described the situation; I was on my way. Shortly after another recovery, I arrived and began the search. Shortly after gridding the area, the ring was found. Great ending in Ocean City, NJ!

Recently I received a message from someone who had lost one of her gold earrings while visiting Honeymoon Island with her children. During my second search of the area where she thought she had lost the earring, I detected and dug up a phone in the soft dry sand. This was the second phone I had recovered recently at Honeymoon Island; the first one was in about knee deep water while I was searching for a lost ring.

I was able to charge the phone and unlike the first phone I found, thankfully the owner had his emergency medical contact information on the emergency call screen. I called one of the contacts listed and he in turn contacted the owner whose name was Harry who had lost the phone two days before while visiting Honeymoon Island with several friends. Harry called me on another phone he was using temporarily and later that day came to my home to pick up his phone.

Harry, it was a pleasure meeting you and being able to return your phone. And even though you shouldn’t have, thank you for the generous reward as well!

Gold Cross Pendent Lost In a Vollyball Court Woodcroft Community Edmonton.

Nick called me requesting my service to locate his late grandmother’s gold cross which he has worn round his neck ever since she passed away. He was playing a vollyball  when the ball hit him in the chest and snagged the cross off his chain. He did not realize he had lost the cross until he got home.

In the morning Nick called and told me what had happend and the only place the cross could be was either in court #1 or court # 2. The cross was found between #1 and #2. It only took a few minutes to reunite the cross with Nick.

Daniel and his friends were playing soccer at one of  Orlando’s local parks and in the heat of the game he fell and twisted his ankle.  And as it was very warm out and the humidity was high his hands were not only sweaty but now they were full of grass and sand!  Having been married for only 1 year he was in the habit of wearing it all the time and also had a habit of feeling it with his thumb and spinning it…and he said it was a bit loose as well.  He had no idea that it would come off so easy and when he stood up to hobble off to his car, he immediately realized that his ring was missing.  He and his friends tried searching through the thick grass and after well over an hour he gave up and headed home to take care of his swollen ankle.  Later that evening Daniel was searching on Google and typed « Metal Detector Rental »  and as he scrolled through the options he came across theringfinders.com and found my number.  We made arrangements to meet the next morning at the park.   It was a beautiful morning and as we walked to the field Daniel explained what happened and  was very precise about where he fell!    Within minutes I found his lost titanium wedding ring with my Deus 2 metal detector.  Daniel was overcome with emotion and as he smiled he said a sincere « Thank you Mike…you saved my marriage! »  What an absolute joy and honor it was to help Daniel and his young wife and to be a help and blessing to them!

Four-Generation Men’s Wedding Band Recovered, Woodneck Beach, Falmouth, Massachusetts

This was a very special wedding band.  Peter’s great grandfather wore it when he was married in 1917, and it passed down through Peter’s grandfather, and father, to him.  It was inscribed with initials and dates and had been through two World Wars and, now, four marriages.  It went onto Peter’s left ring finger when he was married in 2017, 100 years after his great grandfather tied the knot.  Needless to say, this was a ring that, once lost, needed to be found!

The ring left Peter’s finger when his hand bumped a rock as he was floating down the channel with his young daughter at Woodneck Beach.  He had a good idea of where the ring probably came off and felt certain of the limits where it might be.  He learned of the RingFinders through the Fabulous Falmouth group on Facebook and called me on the evening of the loss.  I met him and his friend Dave the next morning at low tide to do the search.

I covered the prime area thoroughly with no result, and then extended the search in increments beyond the limits of where Peter felt the ring should be.  After two hours with no target it was starting to look pretty discouraging.  But, as is not uncommonly the case, the ring could be farther afield than expected, so I widened the search even more.  Fortunately this soon produced the desired result, and it was accompanied by lots of happy exclamations and smiles as the heirloom ring was returned to Peter’s finger.  I’m really pleased that I was able to recover this unique treasure and to know that it will continue to be held and cherished in the family where it belongs!

Yellow Gold Mans Wedding Band Lost/Found At Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

I received a call regarding a lost yellow gold mans wedding band (with 10-27-23 engraved inside) on the beach in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The ring was lost on 07/20/24, while James was enjoying a day at the beach. James had placed his treasured ring in a zippered bag for safe keeping, when he decided to put his ring back on his finger he found that it was no longer in the bag. There had been several people who were going in and out of the bag so James felt that the ring had fallen out of the bag and into the sand. I was given the possible location of the lost ring as being on the beach south of Prospect Street at the South end of Rehoboth boardwalk and about three quarters of the way out towards the water. I searched the area for about an hour and a half with no luck in finding the ring. With the ring being lost in the sand for six days prior to my searching for it I felt that the sand rake had gotten it and moved it or that it had been found by someone else with a metal detector. Feeling that I had done my best to find the ring, I began to walk back to the boardwalk while still swinging my metal detector, I all of a sudden heard a familiar tone in my headset and upon digging the item up I found that it was James lost ring. I then promptly took a photo of the ring and texted the photo to James who was happy to get the news. James was in his home state of Maryland at which time he was attending a wedding. I was told that upon hearing the news of the ring being recovered, everyone at the wedding had asked for my cell number.  James was on his way to Bethany Beach on 07/27/24 so I met him in the parking lot of a local business at which time I reunited him with his lost ring.

White Gold Mans Wedding Band Lost/Found At Cape Henlopen State Park Lewes, Delaware

I received a call from Scott regarding his lost white gold wedding band that had been lost at Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes, Delaware on the beach. Scott said that he had been throwing a football to his son and that his ring flew off of his finger and landed in the wet sand just as a wave washed over top of it. Scott said that he ran over to try to recover his ring, but the ring disappeared into the sand as the water covered it. The ring had been lost several hours prior to low tide so when I arrived it was actually low tide and the area of the lost ring was just wet sand. Scott showed me the area that he had marked where the ring was lost, I began to check the area and with a few swings of the metal detector the lost ring was found and returned to its rightful owner. A spectator who was watching me recover the ring approached me and gave me a fist bump and the group of people that he was with up on the dry sand of the beach were cheering and clapping.
