From Mombo Beach, Curacao to Denmark, an unexpected return!

My vacation in Curacao ended with an unexpected ring return. While detecting at Mombo Beach I found an initial ring, my second ring found on the first day in Vacation Land. No one around had lost or knew of anyone losing a ring. Five days later Leighton, my RingFinders traveling companion, was asked to help find a ring that was just lost. Two minutes later he had found and returned the ring. As it usually happens a happy commotion of joy was spread along the beach when a return is made. One of the onlookers, Jordan, was among the onlookers and when he had a chance, he asked Leighton if he had also found an initial ring, he had a picture of. Leighton said no but he took a look at the picture and would ask the other detectorist who was some distance down the beach.

Leighton’s description from the photo he viewed sounded like I had the ring I had found. A walk back to talk with Jordan took a few minutes. When together we were told the story of the ring’s loss and history which verified the ring’s ownership.

Jordan’s girlfriend, Anne, had been swimming when the ring slipped from her finger. The ring was her great-grandfather’s ring with two dates engraved on the inside of the ring and initials for DH on the face of the ring. It was her ring. But she would have to wait until January to wear it again. Anne had returned to The Netherlands and Jordan would not follow until his return in January.

Now back on Cape Cod, I have great memories of a wonderful vacation and an unusual and unexpected return.

Lost Gold Engagement Ring Recovered In Gambrills Maryland!

I was initially contacted by Shenna well over a month ago. She left me a voicemail stating that she was certain she lost her ring in her back yard a few weeks prior and after visually searching for it several times, she was unable to locate it.  Unfortunately, I was in the hospital at the time recovering from an appendectomy with some complications. I replied to Shenna and informed her of my situation and long story short, she was willing to wait until I was fully recovered to make arrangements to locate her ring.

I’m happy to inform you that today was the day that we agreed upon for me to come out and attempt to locate her lost ring. Shenna showed me where she thought she might have lost it while working in her beautiful garden. Once our conversation was over, I quickly got to work and within less than 5 minutes! Can you see it there hiding in the grass/straw???

Needless to say, Shenna was both amazed and grateful that her engagement was finally back where it belongs! Look at that great smile! A perfect ending to the weekend before Thanksgiving.

Ring recovered – in Wyoming Minnesota

So last week I received a call from a wonderful couple that had lost a wedding ring in the leaves in there back yard. This call was from a local couple about 6 miles away.  This was a treat for me because it had been a while since I have had a call that was just down the road. I know from what I was told that she really cared about her ring.  She was very conscientious about losing the ring so to be safe she removed it and placed it in her pocket.  She had done a little work in a flower garden the corner of the house and when she finished, she felt the ring in her pocket.  She also had her young son out running around in back with her in the back yard. Part of playing around they formed a big pile of leaves started to bury one another in the pile of leaves.  Following playing in the leaves her husband cleaned up the back yard raking and hauling the leaves down to a compost pile further down in the back yard. She had felt for the ring and her heart sank. It was gone. They spent several hours scouring the back yard and leaf pile looking for the ring and nothing was found.

You just know that feeling of something near and dear to your heart and it’s gone. She did a search online for Ringfinders.com and found Paul Nolan a local recovery specialist and texted him.  Somehow the text was missed and the following morning her husband gave Paul a call. He asked if I had received the text that hos wife had sent, “ No”.  So he asked if it would be possible to come out and see if we could find the ring.  About an hour later I pulled into the driveway.  They gave me a quick tour of what had happened. So I grabbed my detector and started a quick preliminary search. My primary search area was going to be the leaf pile in the back.  Within a minute of reaching the pile location I received a great signal.  I tried to carefully move some of the leaves, and it was hiding well.  I had left my pin-pointer in the car so I went back to retrieve that.  I also brought a small battery-operated blower that I grabbed. Once back at the pile I found the location with the pin pointer and put the blower on low and blew the leaves away from a small one foot circle, and there it was down between some rocks.  So I grabbed my equipment and started to hall it back up to the car. As I was heading up she came out on the deck and I asked her if she would like to come grab the ring? What you found the ring? In total disbelief.  Come on down. Her husband soon joined her and I took them down to the location where I had blowen the leaves away and they started looking after about 15 seconds she spotted it in the rocks.  She was ecstatic.    The following pictures are the ring back where it belonged and another photo of the ring.

It was really nice having a call close to home, and one that went as well as could possibly could. What a treat it was. I wish they all would go so well.  Congratulations on getting the ring back.  I am so happy for the both of you.

Barnegat NJ Lost Wedding Ring in the Yard recovered by Edward Trapper NJ Ring Finder 2022

Samantha messaged me last night about her ring that flew off her daughter, Johanna’s finger while she was playing in the front yard. It was her grandmothers ring and had great sentimental value to her. I had already went to bed, but my auto message prompted her to call. After getting the details it was pretty apparent the ring had slid off her daughters finger when she threw her hands in the air. We didn’t know how far it flew, but knew positively, it was in the grass, someplace in the front yard. I met her right after she got off work to start the search. When I pulled up I didn’t like what I saw. It was an underground electric transformer box right on the corner of the property. If you know metal detectors the EMI interference from them can sometimes make the search impossible. I didn’t let her know this, and adjusted my machine to the conditions. Not 10 minutes later the machine gave the sweet sound of a platinum ring under the coil. I felt around with my pin pointer, as the grass was deep, and it was pushed into the dirt a bit from the family searching the day before. When I spotted the ring, I held the pointer on it to let it keep screaming, and looked over to her with a big smile on my face. She ran over in total amazement, with a priceless look on her face. I arrived at the house and it was explained that the day before they were cleaning out the garden and there was a small spot in the backyard, a garbage can, and some fabric pots where the ring could most likely be located. I checked the yard area first with no luck. The next likely place was to be the garbage can so I dumped out the can full of tomatoes and plants…no luck! I cleaned up the yard and started to check the fabric pots. I got a faint sound, but enough to make me investigate further. Using my pinpointer I located the ring about halfway down in the pot. David was elated to have his ring back and I was all to happy to be able to have recovered it. As always – it was a great pleasure to meet kind and generous people like David and his wife, and the cherry on top was being able to return his ring!

Lost Grad Ring Found and Returned to its Owner

While detecting a local park, I found a 2018 Grad Ring. It had a date, the school initials, a first name and initials.  I called the ring company and the school and neither were able to help. In the end, I connected with some students that attended the school at that time and was able to find out who the ring belonged to and in turn, I was able to contact her through Facebook. River Ring Recovery in Kananaskis

I received a call from Paul. He lost his ring in the river while surfing. His fingers got cold and the ring disappeared into the depths. Good thing that the river flow is controlled by a dam and for a period of time there is a chance to recover the ring.
