Karim just wanted to rinse off a bit of sand in the ocean before leaving the beach. Sounds simple, safe, and easy right? Well, after wading into calf deep water and reaching down into the water, a wave washed through and stripped his wedding ring right off his finger. Immediately sifting the sand for the ring with his fingers proved fruitless. His wife hit the internet, found my number, and gave me a call for help. The loss happened 2 hours before low tide but by the time I got the call, it was just after low tide and it was coming in, so, the next low tide this morning was the best time to give it a try. We met at 5:30am and I started my grid where Karim thought he went into the ocean. 1/2 hour later I had only heard some iron sounds, when, I get a screaming 25 hit on my Equinox. Well, that didn’t sound like platinum to me, but, I scooped it anyway. There in my scoop was a ring, but, not Karim’s ring! By this time, it was starting to get light enough to see better, and Karim realized that we were in the wrong location. We then headed north about 150 yards and I started my grid work again. Again, nothing but iron grunts for 1/2 hour or so, when I get a weak but repeatable 3 on the Nox. Scooped and found a corroded piece of aluminum can. Rats! 2 feet away and I get another weak but repeatable 3 and figured I had another piece of that can. Scooped it anyway and was surprised to find Karim’s platinum wedding ring in the bottom! I was looking for a low non-ferrous tone, but, didn’t think it would read quite that low, but, I can’t complain about the result. Now Karim and family can head home to NorCal in a happier mood. A pleasure to meet you Karim, and thank you for the reward.

Lost Sentimental Earring Lost In Cherry Hill NJ, Found By Dave Milsted the Metal Detecting Man

Received an email from Jonathan earlier in the week. He asked if I could help him learn the metal detector that he just bought. I asked what was going on. He said his wife lost a sentimental earring somewhere in their yard. He bought a detector and he tested it on the earring that she didn’t lose and it didn’t beep.

I asked what kind of earring it was. He said it was a stud earring. I told him that studs are one of the hardest things to find due to the small amount of metal. I told him that I could come out and look for him.

We decided on Saturday morning. He showed me the area that they believed it was in, it was rather large. I brought 2 machines, my Equinox 800 and my Tiger Shark. I tested on the earring that they had. Both machines registered. I searched with the Nox it came up as a 1 on the meter.

I started searching. There were a lot of targets. There was 1 area of tin foil slaw (an area of small pieces of tin foil the was probably run over with a lawn mower). That slaw came up as 1 on the Nox.

Just over an hour into the search I was at the swing set. I got a 1 on the Nox. Looked through the grass and saw the earring. The post was bent. I had placed the other earring in a plastic baggie so I would lose it and could place it on the ground to test it. I put the one I just found in it and started walking to my truck.

Jonathan came out of the house and said I guess you didn’t find it. I asked if there was anywhere else that she might have been. I asked if they went through her car? I said let me give you this one back. He started to put the bag in his pocket without looking at it.

I said I might have bent the post. so he looked at the bag. The look on his face when he saw 2 earrings in the bag was priceless. He might be trading in his metal detector for a better one.

Ring Lost in Bressi Ranch Found

Even though it was later in the day than usual, and their regular ball playing routine would be postponed to another day, Jay took his dogs to their favorite area for a run and romp in the park grass. While wrestling with his two dogs, his now loose fitting wedding ring popped off his finger and disappeared in the long fescue grass. Even though the search area wasn’t very large, try as he might, with flashlight and hands and knees hunting that night and the next morning, Jay couldn’t come up with it. He found me online and we arranged to meet around noon. We walked the short distance to the search area and after just 3 other signals, Jay’s wedding ring told my Equinox that « hey » I’m here! See? I’m a solid 15 and not a pull tab! Save me! Jay was more than happy to get his symbol of love back again to continue it’s story. Great to meet you Jay, and thank you for the reward.

Ring Toss Recovery Skagit Valley WA

I received a distressed call from a young lady that she had regrettably tossed her ring out of her bedroom window. She was now in need of a recovery specialist to help recover the ring from her back yard. She had a person that tried searching her yard with a medal detector but came up empty handed. After the initial search she was more distressed now than ever and could not understand why after having thrown her ring straight down into the grass that the ring was not found. After clearing my schedule a few days later I drove the distance to perform a search for her very special ring. She told me that it was an older property and filled with a lot of junk metal and trash. Never the less I arrived on focus to recover the only thing possible in that yard that meant any thing to her, being this very special ring. Being a surface recovery over solid dirt and grass the detection process went pretty quick. Any targets that were not on the surface were quickly passed with the only priority being to recover her ring!

After a short bit of searching the target area her ring was recovered and it was in very close proximity to a test ring I told her to throw a few days prior. The ring was undamaged and placed back on her finger with a great deal of gratitude and relief that it had been found.

Found Ring Returned Madison Park Beach Seattle

While on the hunt for another man’s lost wedding ring at Madison Park Beach I was detecting the shallow swimming area and recovered a sterling silver simple men’s wedding band. I noticed it had a 2009 wedding date inscribed inside the band. I knew this obviously held some significant value to someone. It was found in such a place that it had to be an accidental loss. Being after the hours of the lifeguard shack it took the course of a few days and several phone calls. Eventually I was able to get information from the Seattle Parks Departement that lead me to the owner a man named Alex. Alex was a bit confused at fist when I called to confirm his lost ring then he realized after I texted him a photo of his ring that I had in fact found it. We arranged to meet during his early morning commute to work. During our encounter he explained that this ring was hand crafted by a jeweler from his home country and it indeed holds a deep sentimental value to him and his family. He was very appreciative to have it back just in time for his ten year wedding anniversary soon arriving. I am thankful to have reunited this ring to its owner allowing its history of memories and new stories to continue on with Alex for many more years to come.

Duck Pond Ring Toss Recovery Issaquah WA

Pall contacted me sharing that his young daughter had recently been give a very special ring from her grandmother. After having only had the ring for about a week his daughter was in the back yard tossing bread crumps to the lovely ducks when the unthinkable happened. Out went the bread crumbs along with the cherished gemstone ring! Having a girl with a broken heart Paul knew he had to find someone with a machine to efficiently recover this ring from the silty duck pond.

Lost Wedding Ring at Vashon Island WA

Susan called me explaining that her husband, Rob, had recently lost his wedding ring on recent boating trip five days prior. The two of them left Point Defiance Marina and motored over to Vashon Island for an enjoyable day on the water. She explained that Rob was on the beach looking at the rocks when a small wave splashed his ring off into the silty water. Rob instantly froze and tried to stay standing over the exact spot. Unfortunately the water was silty and they had no way of searching for the ring. I am happy that Susan was able to find me.

Lost Wedding Ring Recovered Marymoor Park Redmond WA

Received a call from Leon that he lost his six month old white gold wedding band while playing Cricket in Marymoor Park, Redmond, WA.

Leon was visiting from Chicago along with some of his mates from New Zealand. They have been on a traveling Cricket tour visiting many different places. When Leon was fielding he decided to slip his wedding ring into his pocket. He said he was quite concerned that it might fall out of his pocket and indeed it did. After quite a bit of fuss searching through the grass and having no luck with a visual search he looked on line for additional help.

I am happy for him that he was able to reached out to me with a prompt call and wiling to provide a lot of detail from what he could remember of his incident.

Lost Gold Engagement Ring – FOUND!!! – Orange Beach, AL

I have to say that today was probably  my favorite return of the year. It had all the elements of a great day. I got the call late in the afternoon so I didn’t have to take off work,  it was a super nice couple, they weren’t sure if it was in the water or the sand, they had dug for it extensively, they had asked a stranger with a metal detector to look in the area and last but not least, there were tons of people around watching that were vested in the return because they had been watching them search all day. When Luke called me saying that Emily had dropped her engagement ring in Orange Beach I knew I had to go and help. They had been throwing a football and when they sat back down Emily’s beautiful gold and diamond engagement ring was nowhere to be found. I got some info from Luke and quickly headed that way from Pensacola. When I got to the condo the security guard told me that there was no guest parking but he would give me one hour before I had to go. I hustled down to the beach and there were still people everywhere. Most of them were closely watching what I did so you could tell that they knew all about the missing ring. Even more than normal I wanted to do my best because I knew I had an audience. After a few questions, I started out on the beach and then headed down the path they had walked to the water. I assumed that it was probably in the water so I then went over a pattern in the breaking waves and moved over the sand drop off in case it had been sucked back into deeper water. When I was coming up the beach, Luke and Emily stopped me and said that they had been discussing it and they thought they were in the very top of the breaking water which would have been higher up the beach earlier in the day. I quickly started swinging up there and was on my second pass when I heard a very faint sound. Throughout the search I had found a few targets that I dug but nothing was a good signal. This time it was a little higher pitched but it was so deep that I was intrigued. I almost ignored it thinking that there was no way it could be that deep with only a half day in the sand. Then I remembered that they had been digging for it so I decided to go ahead and see what was down there. I couldn’t believe it when I saw the gleam of gold in the scoop. Emily and Luke immediately celebrated with me and it was then that I realized just how many people were watching the drama unfold. The whole beach erupted into cheers and applause!  😃. I had to run to the parking lot to convince the security guard not to tow my car and give me a bit longer for pictures but he was very understanding. On the way out the young man and his family who had offered help with their metal detector came running up and told me that their was a lady on the beach who needed my help. When I told them that I had found her ring the young man thought that was the coolest thing in the world. I answered about 100 questions but I’m pretty sure I have hooked him and his father on this hobby for life. I am absolutely thrilled that I could return this beautiful ring to Emily and Luke.
