Apple Watch recovered in Georgetown Shores, Hudsonville, Michigan

  • from Manistee (Michigan, United States)
Contact:

A friend of mine, John P., called me yesterday and asked if I could find his stepsons Apple watch in the water. John’s wife, Kim, cuts my hair and charges me by the minute instead by the normal haircut price, if you saw my lack of hair you would understand why. Kim’s son, Mark D., jumped off the dock into the water to go swimming and when he came out of the water his $500 Apple watch was gone. Mark called me after John gave him my number and we made an appointment to come out and look for it.

My Ringfinder partner, Dave Boyer, and I got to Mark’s house and looked over the area. We first tried to drag the area with our long handled homemade scoop to no avail. We put our wetsuits on and went into the water. The water was cool and there was about 6 inches of black mud. After about 20 minutes we got a signal, in the 90’s, on the AT Pro but had a hard time scooping it out because it was almost 6 feet deep so we had Mark’s friend, Colin B., dive down and scoop with is hands under the coil. He felt it the first time and dove again and pulled up the watch. Mark was ecstatic that we found his watch.

Here is the « Rest of the Story ». The Apple watch was lost 2 weeks ago in 6 feet of water and 6 inches of black mud, when we pulled it up, it was still working and it had 61% battery life. Noticed the white watch band with back stains. After Mark called his mom and dad everyone is happy and now I might get a free haircut from Kim!

Lost Gold & Diamonds Wedding Ring at Waimanalo Beach Park…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a call on my way home from work from Eric who resides in Hawaii Kai. While enjoying a day at the beach with family his lovely wife Aida put her wedding & engagement rings in a towel for safe keeping. Unbeknownst to her sister she picked up the towel and the rings got flung into the sand and disappeared. After an exhausting search they were able to find the engagement but not the wedding ring. I met Eric in the parking lot and we walked down to the beach where the rings were lost. I could see numerous raking marks so the ring could be anywhere by now. I always tell folks to leave the sand alone and wait for the ring finder to arrive. Most don’t listen. After making my grid I started my search. Thankfully the beach sand was nicely clean and I only found to cents before I got a growling low tone. As I scooped into the sand I saw the twinkle of a diamond. I pulled my scoop away and there exposed halfway out of the sand was Aida’s wedding ring. I reached down and pulled the ring out of the sand and handed it to Eric. A sigh of relief came over him and his sister-in-law. Time to enjoy the rest of their vacation. Aida arrived from taking her baby home for some comfort after being at the beach so long and she was so grateful for the recovery. The pic says it all. Aloha to Aida & Eric!

Jared wrote, « Hello! I wanted to reach out to let you guys know how grateful I am for Mike McInroe! What a blessing he is. Our lost ring story begins 33 years ago when my mother was pregnant with me. Due to the swelling she wasn’t able to wear her wedding ring anymore and being from the poor midwest, she felt awful not having her ring on and being pregnant. Despite their financial situation my father came home one day with a new, larger ring so she would have something to wear while she was pregnant. It wasn’t much but it meant the world to my mother! She decided while she was pregnant with me that one day she would give it to me or my spouse to wear when we were expecting our own. 33 years later, that day finally came. While she was visiting us for our baby shower in Orlando from the cold of Minnesota she brought the ring to give to my wife and to share that story with her. Heartbreakingly she never got the chance. The day she decided to give it to my wife we were all fishing off our dock in the canal. My mother was wearing the ring on her pinky finger and when she went to cast the rod–she dropped her precious ring of 33 years into the muddy water. Needless to say my mother was heartbroken– as was I for her! I searched in the water for an hour or two, to no avail, bringing up bucket after bucket of mud in a hopeless search. Meanwhile my wife was laughing at me–having no idea why in the world I would be in the water and having no idea about the ring or the family story. We did not find the ring and my mother flew home to Minnesota heart broken. (A few weeks later she bought and mailed us a ring that looked similar, feeling it was all she could do.) I was determined to find that ring! In my search to figure out how to build a pump and dredge system to dredge and sift the mud, I found theringfinders.com while searching for « How to find a ring underwater. » I emailed Mike on a Friday morning and by that evening we had a time set for the following day. The next morning I explained to Mike how the ring had been lost 4 weeks prior and showed him the dock and where we thought it might be. He said a little prayer as he climbed down the ladder into the canal and began his search. About 20 minutes later we heard the wonderful buzzing of his metal detector, picking up a strong signal. A couple of muddy scoops later and with a huge grin on his face, he pulled the ring out of his muddy sifter. Mike was an amazing spirit and a blessing to come and find our lost ring. We had our baby just a few short days after finding the ring and I can’t wait to surprise my mother when she comes down to meet the baby and to find out we found her ring–the ring she had been holding for 33 years!
Thank you theringfinders and thank you Mike — you are amazing! Sincerely, Jared »
So glad to help you Jared and congratulations on the birth of your precious little one!

Lost cell phone in the sand, Cresent Beach, Florida…..Found!

Marva was so excited to be helping on her very first turtle nest relocation as a volunteer. Apparently during the night a sea turtle had buried its eggs right in the beach traffic lane, so Marva and the other volunteers gathered the necessary tools to dig up the eggs and relocate them in a safer area closer to the dunes. All was going well until Marva realized that her i-phone had popped out of the clip on her waist, and was nowhere to be found. They knew the phone had not fallen into the hole where the eggs were placed and figured it must have fallen in the sand around the edge of the hole. So they dug all around the nest area, raking and running their hands through the sand and still no phone. They tried calling the phone but could not hear it ring. Marva’s husband was able to get a GPS location and it showed the phone was in the vicinity of the new nest!
One of their friends thought of using a metal detector and even after a couple of hours searching–they still came up empty handed. And that lead to a search on Google under « How to find a phone in the sand! » Thankfully up popped www.theringfinders.com and one of my stories and Marva gave me a call.
Two hours later I met Marva and we walked to the nest location. My first attempts showed nothing around the nest and then my detector batteries up and died. So I ran back to my vehicle and put in a new set of batteries. On the next try I still came up empty handed! Marva then mentioned that she had to step up on the dune to pound a marker post into the sand, and on her first attempt to mount the dune, she slid down and had to go up another route. Sure enough, just at the base of the dune where she first stepped up– I got a solid signal on my metal detector. I motioned to Marva and she did not hesitate to uncover her lost phone!
So glad to be of service to you, Marva, and thanks for the generous reward! Lost something recently? Maybe I can help! E-mail or call–ASAP!

Lost Tungsten Ring Found In Highland Township Michigan

A Very Memorable Memorial Day!

This nice young married couple of 6 months, a veteran and housewife were at a surprise engagement party for the new grooms brother when his ring slipped off during a water balloon fight with the kids yesterday evening in between the rainstorms that came thru. I searched the area they thought it was in but nothing showed up so I continued my grid search further back in the yard when this nice tungsten band came thru as +40 on the MXT! Really weird thing tho is that the couple turned back home after heading towards the party and got his ring because he accidentally left it home. The couple and family were beyond thrilled and excited that the ring was recovered giving the holiday and their family gathering a very special meaning!

Lost Wedding Ring in Sand .. Newport Dunes Resort, Newport Beach, CA. .. Recoverd and Returned

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

I had been out on my local beach which is almost my backyard. As I was putting up my metal detector after practicing with a new high frequency search coil, Armando called requesting help to find his wedding ring. He lost it throwing a football in the sand at the beach.
I was available and it sounded like an easy search if they were still at the location. I’m located in Newport Beach on the coast centered between more than 200 miles of beaches, so my first question was, what beach?
When Armando told me he was at Newport Dunes, I was so surprised I almost dropped my phone. That is where I live and he was just a block away from where live.
I jumped on my Segway, meeting Armando and his wife Brianna in record time. They showed me the area which was easy to identify because of the finger marks in the sand and some sifting tools they used in search for the ring. Beginning my grid search, the first pass was about 15 ft. Half way back on the second pass, next to a sifting basket, I was able to get a great signal that was Armando’s tungsten carbide wedding ring. It would have been terrible to lose this as they have only been 4 months.
Total time from the phone call was less that 15 minutes. I wish they could all be that easy.

Lost Wedding Ring Found! – Fontana, WI

  • from Menomonee Falls (Wisconsin, United States)

Memorial Day Weekend turned to disappointment when Valerie’s wedding ring flew off her finger while playing ball with her husband, Mike and daughter. It seemed to land somewhere in the thick grass behind their newly acquired home in Fontana, Wisconsin. Despite searching for many hours on their knees, the ring eluded discovery.

A phone call from Valerie on Monday, May 29th, set in motion a quick one-hour drive to the Lake Geneva district not far from the Illinois State border. Upon arrival, she escorted me to the location where a wooden stake marked ground zero; the place she was standing when the ring left her hand. Additionally, Mike had spray painted a square perimeter line on the ground to indicate the area where the couple had concentrated their search efforts. From a recovery standpoint, this couple had done everything right but still was not able to recover it.

It wasn’t long before a promising signal showed on my monitor. The numbers displayed were consistent with Valerie’s wedding band. Then began a systematic parting of the green blades but the ring’s hiding place was no match for technology and 40-plus years metal-detecting experience. A flash of metal betrayed its presence.

Valerie, I am so glad we were able to get your ring back on your finger where it belongs; may its story continue for many, many happy years. And thank you for your kind reward.

TESTIMONY

« Thank you so much for your quick response to my call and for finding my wedding band immediately. I can’t express how much I appreciate your willingness to travel, on a holiday, to my home 45 minutes away, to help me find it. Thanks again » Valerie – Fontana, WI

Lost Silver Wedding Band at Four Seasons Resort Ko Olina…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I was approached by Jordan who resides in Honolulu. He saw that I was detecting and I noticed he was sifting. Jordan actually had a sifter and was scooping up the sand in various places in hopes of finding his ring. The day before after going on a hike with his wife Erika they decided to cool off by jumping into the Four Seasons’ lagoon. The King tides were coming in full force and almost immediately Jordan’s Silver Wedding Band came off. He looked for a few moments but it was so silty he couldn’t see the bottom. He remembered the area and I had him stand in the water as a marker. It was low tide now and not so bad. I searched the area thoroughly but no ring was found. Jordan was in chest deep water and we searched to waist depth. Jordan had to go to church so I told him I’d try a shallow to deep search and see if I missed a spot. Jordan told me the ring had a Koa Wood design and was engraved MARK 10:8. After he left I started my search again. On about the fifth leg in ankle deep water on the shoreline I got a great tone and there was Jordan’s ring in the scoop after three scoops. The King tide turned out to be just that; it moved his ring from chest deep water to ankle depth. The distance was a good 30-40 feet. That’s quite a distance for over night. I’ve never had a ring move that much ever! Jordan happened to be on my side of the island when I called to give him the good news. So we met at the Kahala Mall for the return. I met his lovely wife Erika and they both were so gracious and thankful. Aloha to Jordan & Erika!
