June 24th. Sunday morning,It was finally a sunny day Here in San Diego during our “June Gloom” Weather which happens to be caused by A Catalina eddy that flows in a fairly small counterclockwise circulation with similarity’s of an area of low pressure and develops invariably off the California coast, typically from Point Conception to San Diego, also known as the « Bight of California. » The eddy gets its name from where it mostly forms, near Santa Catalina Island.

This particular sunny morning was a busy beach day when I was contacted from a very nice family at Camp Del Mar about a precious Ring lost in the sand at Camp Pendleton. Though,I was actually sleeping 😴 after a midnight night hunt while ironically searching for long lost rings in California with Chris Turner who happens to be the CEO of TheRingFinders. I got the text/call and I immediately woke up with one eye and finished the remainder of my Starbucks coffee from the night before in the fridge and drove there to help them.

There was 1 hurdle before the search to begin due to the request of proper I.D or a sponsored civilian passport that has been recently required to enter the Military base in Oceanside CA.

After finally arriving to the scene of the lost ring,I turned on my metal detector and found this precious metal buried in the sand in just minutes! Instantly hugs and smiles light up all around. I was Overwhelmed after sleep walking with my detector but this is still one of my fastest recovery’s,Yet thankfully on a day where a weekend cat nap was needed to Eat,Sleep,Search And live to detect again.

Yesterday I got a call that was a little outside the box. $45,000 4 ct ring lost in the house. This young lady tells me, my mom Always puts her rings in same place but we cant find them. They have a new care taker for grandma and they were now questioning her. I said I would be glad to come by and see if I could help.
After an hour of searching couch, under everything I came to ; No disrespect ment here, but I believe they are Right where you put them.
I called the daughter at work and let her know my feeling on this loss. Fast Forward 6 hrs later yesterday eve.
I get a call from the Mom saying, you were right.
I put them in the car when we went for a beach walk but didnt remember taking  them.

Over the years I have invested in Many Metal detectors But I recently decided to purchase the first detector I ever owned wich I broke along time ago,The Garrett Gold Stinger. When I received this in the mail I went straight to the beach to Re-learn & Test this machine in excitement ..I was only swinging this antique machine for maybe 5-10 minutes when I got a strong Gold Target and took 2 scoops in the sand then out comes a Class Ring:) Cool! It’s alive and working like I remember:)

Fortunately for the owner this is a rare find to have a Full Name inscribed in the ring,so I then called John Hughes also a member of TheRingfinders and he was able to locate her on Facebook leaving a message « We found a ring and it maybe yours!?

Days go by and she finally called us saying she’s lives in Utah, but was on vacation in Carlsbad California recently and was not sure that we had her ring??Hours go by as she was unpacking from the trip she couldn’t find it….Then she Text us later  « oh my God,That is my Ring I didn’t even know I had lost it! »  Thank you, thank you.

The next morning I drove to the post office, mailed it Back to Utah and She was Re-united with her Lost Class Ring.

Another Honest Find and return and a beautiful smile added to my day:)
