Friday night was a busy night for me as I had three searches scheduled starting approximately 9:00 PM one was in White Rock but just before I got there they found the ring and canceled. The second was at Jericho Beach,  it was for a young man who lost his grandfather signet ring that was gifted to him. He believed he lost it in the area where they were sitting as he took it off and put it into a bag and later could not find the ring. I spent close to three hours searching for this ring with no success, as I was getting into my car I got a text message that he found it in the bag at home. It happens more than you know where I’m going to search for something that wasn’t there but that’s OK the main thing was he found his ring.

My next search was at 2 AM at Kits Beach, this search was for a white gold wedding band that was lost when he took it off to keep it safe and put it in the shirt forgot after his swim and picked up the shirt and walked away. They gave me a good description of the area I came in and did my great search and found the ring in lesson 45 minutes. The kicker was his second year anniversary was in less than 48 hours so you can imagine how important this was to get that ring  back to him ASAP. Also note this was a John Cryer effect, two years ago I found that actors ring and still people remember the story… Amazing!

The had a screen shot of the find my phone app.

That was all I needed to get to the general area where the phone went missing the night before.

I made my way to the beach without them because they were unable to meet me there..

After a half hour I was able to locate the iPhone completely buried in the sand.

I met them later that evening to return the phone and they were on their way to meet her son’s friend to surprise him by returning his phone..

Wedding Ring Recovered From Watery Grave & Returned to Owner, Falmouth, MA

  • from Falmouth (Massachusetts, United States)
Contact:

A morning call from Daniel came with the hope that I could find his wedding ring, which had slipped from his finger into the surf the previous evening.  I met him at the beach a half hour after his call and he explained that he felt the ring fall off in chest deep water, near low tide.  He had made good visual notes as to where he stood with respect to landmarks.  He and companions had actually returned to the spot with goggles and tried to find the ring in the sandy gravel bottom, but to no avail.

The morning tide was about the same level as when the ring was dropped the previous evening, so I waded out and set a small buoy in chest-deep water where Daniel thought the ring would be.  I began my search from there and made a half-dozen swaths parallel to shore, working back and forth past the buoy.  Then bingo! that lovely ring tone…  One scoop, a good shake to wash the sand out, and I could see Daniel’s ring nestled in the gravel.  I dumped the gravel and left the ring in the scoop as I waded ashore.  Daniel walked down to the waterline, looking rather puzzled (he later said he wasn’t sure if I’d found something or was giving up!), but he was delighted when he saw his ring in the scoop.  He was just about right on with respect to the ring’s location, as I found it only 15-20 feet from the buoy.  I wish all recoveries were so easy!

Thanks Daniel, for tracking down the RingFinders and giving me the opportunity to recover your ring.  Have a great summer!

Lost Gold Ring on Softball Field Found on Belle Isle Detroit Michigan

  • from Detroit (Michigan, United States)

Flashing Some Leather…..

…with 2 outs and bases loaded Shema heard the crack of the bat on the ball. As it soared past 2nd base, she full throttled it from her position in center field and took a dive. Making the catch and claiming victory, during the team celebration she noticed her ring missing. Trying to celebrate and not worry where her ring went was becoming difficult, so she and some teammates started to look around. With dusk approaching they called off the search. As with all rings and jewelry there is a story behind them. Shema received this ring from her grandmother prior to her passing away, so she was totally devastated when she had to leave the ballfield that night. A sleepless night was followed by her back out on the ballfield the next morning. She had a general idea where to look so using the quick turn on a go mode with my MXT metal detector I started to grid search. Closing in on the general area I got a good signal. Using my pin pointer detector, I moved some grass aside and the glint of gold shone thru. Shema quickly reached down and lifted her ring from the grass. Totally amazed she could hardly catch her breath. Hugs and high fives followed and although her team won the game, scoring her ring was the winning run!

Lost Ring in Whangarei Paddock – Found!

  • from Paihia (New Zealand)
At the start of this year, I carried out a ring recovery at Tutukaka for Lorelles husband who had lost his signet ring in the water.
I certainly didn’t expect a message from Lorelle seven months later, asking me to find HER ring…
.
She had taken the ring off to put moisturiser on and had transferred the ring to another finger.
Later, she had been tending to her pony at their home in Kamo, feeding hay, taking covers off, you know the sort of horsey things – and all in nice soft mud.
As Lorelle told me the story over the phone, I was sticking pins in the mental map and by the time she got to, « When I got back to the house, it was missing » I had already formed a good idea of where and how I would be searching.
.
I drove down this morning, and met her husband at the paddock with an icey southerly blast tearing through.
We ran through the story again, from his viewpoint this time, which confirmed the likely area to be the long grass between the car and the pony.
.
He had already tried with a borrowed metal detector but had been unable to locate the ring. This is where an experienced metal detectorist with the right skill set to know not only where to search, but also how to search makes the difference.
.
The 33kV powerlines overhead were certainly upsetting my machine, and some tweaking was required to filter out most, but not all, of the interference.
I started the search pattern where the car had been parked and within 5 minutes, parted the grass to reveal a beautiful emerald ring.
.
It was a long journey for a five minute search, but it could well have taken five hours…or more – You can never tell until that elusive ring is safely recovered.
Lorelle now has her ring back on her finger, and no doubt there will be some friendly banter between them about each losing their ring !

Becca’s daughter wrote a testimonial of what happened..

**** We we’re vacationing in Newport Beach,CA.and y mom lost four small wedding bands while sitting at the beach for a day, After realizing the loss, she fretted all day and hesitated saying anything to our group because she’s assure they were gone forever. Around 10:00 pm she finally us about her missing rings and we knew we couldn’t find them ourselves. We thought we could rent a metal detector and while searching for somewhere to do that, we came across Stan’s name. We decided to trust the reviews and were grateful to know there was someone with experience who could help us out.

After calling Stan, we were BLOWN AWAY at his excitement, service and desire to help. We put out the call at 11:00 pm and he wanted to go out hunting right away. We met him at the beach 20 minutes later and had all four rings within w5 min. Truly an amazing experience! Stan went above and beyond what we’d expected and was so kind and genuine. He turned something horrible into an amazing experience for my whole family!!!

*** Michael and his family are in Southern California visiting from Fresno, CA. His son Brayden lost his phone the night before in the sand at Sunset Beach, CA. . Michael called me early asking for help. He said the Find My IPhone app showed the phone still on the beach as we talked.

I asked him to send me a screen shot of what showed up on the app. Also asked him to take a screenshot of google map with a pin placed as close to location. He was willing to meet me after they finished their morning appointment. I felt I had enough information and was off to the location.

Arriving at the location before 8 am, I began a grid search from the towel line back 30ft. After 20 minutes I spotted the iPhone in plain sight. The next person walking down the beach could have easily found the phone. The problem is that phones that are locked can be difficult to return to the owner.

I contacted Michael and he was able to stop by to pick up phone. They had not told his son, Brayden that the phone was found. They introduced me to Brayden and I was able to surprise him with his iPhone. They were all happy that they could drive home to Fresno without the disappointment of losing the phone.

Lost Koa & Turquoise Inlaid Ring at Ulua Lagoon Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began while I was hunting Ulua Lagoon for a visitor. While on the extreme North side Paul from Las Vegas Nevada approached me and asked if I could assist him in finding a Koa and Turquoise Inlaid ring. He lost it the evening before while relaxing in the shallow water. Then he said, « Oh never mind its wood & stone. » I said, « It has to have a base metal! » And Paul said, « I guess your right. » He pointed to the area in the water he was sitting with his girlfriend and I immediately started a quick grid search. There were some children in the way and when they moved I continued and immediately got a screaming 16-18 on the Nox. I looked over at Paul and said I’ll bet this is it. In one scoop as the sand drained out there shining in the scoop was Paul’s unique ring. Nice way to end my hunt. Aloha to Paul!

18K GOLD WEDDING RING LOST AT HUNTINGTON BEACH FOUND AND RETURNED

  • from Santa Monica (California, United States)

I was metal detecting one Saturday afternoon on a warm June day last month, down by the water in Huntington Beach. I was  finding a few coins here and there, when I got a loud signal and said to myself wouldn’t it be nice if it was a gold ring. Well, one scoop and there it was, a large man’s white gold ring. I was surprised and happy. I took a photo when I got to my car and sent it  to my friend Stan a fellow ring finder and said « first one of the year ». I hadn’t done a lot of detecting for over the year due to a car accident and an illness, so my day ended on A good note. I got an unexpected call on Tuesday morning on the way to play tennis, my friend Stan called me and let me know that a guy named Jeremy from Colorado was visiting California on the previous Saturday and lost his wedding ring, my friend said it sounded like the same  one I found. He gave me Jeremy’s phone number so I called him after tennis, We exchanged photos, and it turns out the ring was his. It really is  a small world. I sent his ring out that day, and he had it back on his finger by Friday. He was so happy to be reunited with his ring and I was glad to help a nice person. Just another example of how Ringfinders is a great website that brings joy to so many people.
