Received a call to look for two rings in the snow. A diamond engagement ring and a wedding band. The 8 year old was playing with her friend and decided to throw the rings out the window. I never ask why!!
First found the wedding band. The owner never expected me to find the engagement ring. Found BOTH!!
Troy had planned his proposal to Karina for months. It was a romantic evening at Venice Beach, CA. near the pier. While sitting on the sand preparing for the big moment Troy had been fiddling with the ring box nervously waiting for the perfect moment. He got down on his knees to present the ring to Karina and upon opening the box it was empty. He was crushed! The beautiful platinum/ diamond engagement was no longer in the ring box.
Both Troy and Karina spent hours sifting through the sand with their fingers. They slept on the beach all night guarding the location. When Troy google searched to find TheRingFinders he called me from the store where he had planned to purchase a metal detector. I told him not to waste his money. I would be able to meet him within an hour. Our possibilities of finding the ring was good if he stayed at the location the ring was lost.
After showing up to hear his story it was a matter of minutes till I was able to find the beautiful diamond/platinum engagement ring. Karina had not seen it, so Troy decided to save that special moment till later.
They both were grateful and relieved to have the ring recovered.

Jack-O-Lantern’s Steal Men’s Tiffany Wedding Ring in The Woodlands, Texas (found) by John Volek….
Men’s Tiffany Wedding Ring Lost while saying good-reddens to some holiday pumpkins!
I was contacted by Steve…regarding his lost Gold Tiffany Wedding ring at his home in The Woodlands, a suburb outside of Houston… Steve reported he had been discarding some holiday pumpkins (jack-o-lanterns) into a vacant field behind his home. Steve said, he believed as he was throwing the pumpkins across the road and into the vacant field, his ring must have flown off. Steve confirmed he was left handed and indeed throws left handed as well…all the information suggested it was a likely possibility.
Steve reported he had searched everywhere else, and the only remaining possibility was that his ring flew off his finger during the incident…
I met with Steve the following day and was shown the location of the discarded pumpkins…following my intuition I search to the left (left handed throw) which led me into the middle of a brier patch to search for the lost ring. After fighting the brier for 15-20 minutes, it became evident the ring was not where I had expected it to be.
I later expanded the search and later found it near the roadway to the far right from the known pumpkin throwing position…
The search was a bit challenging due to the size of the lot and the unknown possibilities of where the ring could have flown…but we can see from Steve’s smile everything worked out well!

Wedding Ring – Goes Airborne in The Heights – Houston, Texas by John Volek
Wedding Ring Accidentally tossed into the ruff while doing a little after dinner house cleaning…
I was contacted by Randy from the Height i n Houston regarding his wives lost wedding ring…Randy reported following an evening meal with his wife, he had rolled up the table cloth full of crumbs, and later took it outside to shake off the crumbs. Randy said, he was unaware that his wife had taken off her ring and had set it down on the table during that meal.
Randy said he and wife back tracked there steps and realized that the ring must have been carried outside in the table cloth and shaken out with food crumbs. Randy said, he began an intensive search in the ground cover of the rear patio of his home. Randy reported, he had shaken out the table cloth quite vigorously and believed the ring flew into the ground cover.
Randy set out by grid searching the area, but soon realized the task was daunting…the ground cover was thick and deep.
Randy reported, he did a little internet search and came across my name while searching « lost ring Houston »
Arrangements were made to meet with Randy the following day…you can see from Randy’s Smile it was a good day!

Finding Lost Texas A&M Class Rings in College Station, Texas
Texas A&M Class Ring Lost in Creek during classroom exercise in College Station,Texas (found) by John Volek
I was contacted by Ryan from College Station, Texas regarding his lost Texas A&M Class ring…Ryan stated while out on a fishery conservation class he had the misfortune of loosing his class ring. Ryan said, he and classmates were capturing some fish in the creek as part of the classroom assignment, and during that process he lost in ring somewhere in the creek.
Ryan indicate he believed the water depths of the creek ranged from a few feet to possibly eight foot deep in the center of the creek. I made arrangements with Ryan to meet him the following week to search for his lost ring.
Knowing the depths and terrain, I felt pretty confident the ring could be recovered with the right personnel, gear and equipment…I contacted my dive partner Carl…we looked over the details of the recovery and set out the following week to recovery Ryan’s ring.
Once on site, Carl drew the short straw and had to gear up for the underwater side of this search…I would be taking the shallower waters around the deeper portion of the creek.
Once Carl was set-up and underway, I began searching the edges of the creek…I pulled up a few possible signals (fishing lures, and a few bottle caps) before hitting a very distinct signal in about 4 1/2 foot of water…I pulled up a scoop full of rocks and other debris, along with a nice Gold Texas A&M Class ring.
I feel pretty confident Ryan and his father were shocked on how fast we were able to recover the ring!

Busted Water Well Pipe « versus » Titanium Wedding Ring…
Titanium Wedding Ring lost in a mud pit while repairing a busted water well pipe in Katy, Texas…(found) by John Volek
I was contacted by Brooks regarding his lost titanium wedding ring…Brooks reported he had been repairing a busted water well pipe at his home when he realized he had lost his ring. Brooks stated he was sure he lost his ring while digging around in the wet muddy ground where he had repaired the broken pipe. Brooks said he spent a few hours sifting the muddy ground in an attempt to find his lost ring…but had no luck.
Brooks said a quick search on the internet on how to find a lost ring, and he came across « The Ring Finders » and made the call!
Brooks lost ring was found just in time for Christmas!

I must say in all the years I have been a member of the Ring Finders group this callout gets the top marks in all categories.
Kerri called me yesterday regarding their dog Boomer. On Boxing day 2017, while Kerri and Travis were visiting family in British Columbia, Boomer found his way into their bedroom. Kerri had placed her wedding ring, engagement ring, and gold necklace on the night table. When she returned to the room she found Boomer chewing on a box of Kleenex, The ring and necklace was gone and Kerri found one ring on the floor on the other side of the room. Boomer is not your average dog, he is 120 Lbs Bloodhound, a big friendly giant.
Kerri was getting worried that the ring and chain was still inside Boomer and asked me if I could check to see if the rings was in him. I told her I could run my detector over him but it would not tell me what was in him and if there was something she would have to take him to the Vet! she also asked if I could scan the Poop bags she had collected over the past 10 days in his dog run I agreed to meet them this morning.
I arrived and met Travis and Kerri and of course Boomer the Hound. I scanned Boomer and found nothing, so onto the next task! The Poop bags! On fourth bag my pro-pointer went off and I told Travis this could be something. I told Kerri to get some hot water and a bucket so we could thaw the bag out and see what was in there were the rings and neckless all in tack. Lucky for Boomer – no vet and lucky for Travis and Kerri, no bills!
This search will go down in History for me.

Eddie called me this morning asking for my help to find his Tungsten wedding ring possibly lost in the sand at the Newport Dunes RV Resort. I got excited because I was close enough to walk to his location within 10 minutes.
Eddie and I met at a the children’s play area on the sand. That is where he told me, he realized his ring was missing. Before that he had been several different places on the beach. One place was where he had crashed his bike on the sand and the other place was where he had been throwing a frisbee.
I started to eliminate the Totlot (play area) first. It is hard to stay positive when you hear about so many possibilities where he had been. I had a little electrical interferences to begin with and there was a lot of metal posts in the play area that could cover up a signal of the ring.
After a couple hours of searching, I went back to get a larger scoop to move the sand away from the metal posts. I also changed out my detector to one with a higher frequency coil. Returning to the play area where there was masking possibilities. Within the first 15 minutes I had Eddie’s wedding band in my scoop. He had already given up, returning to his RV. So it doubled his surprise when I showed up to return his ring. He had an big smile and his wife told me how I had made his day.. Helping people find their precious sentimental keepsakes makes my life special. It is awesome to use my time, experience and equipment in such a worthwhile endeavor.
