2 Lost Rings on the Beach – Found!

  • from Orange Beach (Alabama, United States)

I’m starting out my 8th year of doing this and my first ring of the year actually turned out to be two rings!  Tammy and her husband Andrew brought their beautiful family down from Kentucky to enjoy Perdido. They had spent the day on the beach and as it started to be time to leave, Tammy panicked when she realized her wedding band and her engagement ring were no longer on her hand. They had a general idea where they had been on the beach but she wasn’t sure where the rings were.  She quickly did some googling and found my FB page, Pensacola Ring Finders. She texted me while my wife and I were at dinner and I quickly called her back. She was in luck that my wife who is my good luck charm was up for a trip to Perdido. We got there as quickly as possible, prepared with flashlights to search into the night. After talking with Tammy and Andrew there were three areas they had played volleyball and I decided to start in the one that Tammy had described first. I made one pass and then a second. On my third turn I got a good gold sound. I’ve learned that this could be a pull tab and not to sound the alarm quite yet so I gently scooped up the first signal. I needn’t have worried and quickly saw the diamonds from the wedding band in the scoop. I called Tammy over and said, “well here’s one!” 😃  The second one was still missing so I started back searching in the same general area. It wasn’t long until I heard a strong platinum tone. This time I couldn’t help but smile and I scooped down very carefully and saw the flash of the engagement ring in the edge of the sand. I let Tammy pull it out of the scoop and celebrate with her family as she returned it to its rightful place on her hand. I love doing this. I can’t wait to see who else I will be able to help this year. See you soon. 😉

Lost White Gold Wedding Ring at Aulani Beach Ko Olina Resort…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a call from Lindsey who was on vacation from Reno, Nevada.  While throwing a football in waist deep water at Aulani Beach Ko Olina resort her husband Jason’s White Gold Wedding Ring flew off and into the shallow water of the lagoon and disappeared into the soft white sand.  She had been wearing his ring for safe keeping.  It was nearly knock-off from work so I told Lindsey I would run home grab my gear and head out to the resort before rush hour traffic.  When I arrived Lindsey came down to the beach and showed me the area to hunt.  There were many tourists on the beach but knowing what happened they graciously let me work.  Lindsey took her son down the beach to see what wildlife they might encounter and she was going to check back with me in a few moments.  I fired up the Manticore and began my grid search.  I just cleared this lagoon a few weeks ago so I didn’t get any targets until a nice solid No. 35 on the beast and in one scoop there was Jason’s White Gold Band in the scoop.  I could see Lindsey was finishing up her walk and Jason had joined her with their two daughters and son.  I yelled over »I got it »  and Lindsey said, Really? »  I showed them the ring and they assured me it was the one.  We took a few pics and I was able to explain the metal detector to the inquisitive children.  Always an opportunity to share the hobby!  Aloha to Jason, Lindsey and their children!

FOUND! Ring of former Empress of the Imperial Court of San Francisco!

  • from Pacifica (California, United States)

I was scrolling through my notifications on Facebook recently when I noticed one of my friends tagged me in someone else’s post. I clicked to see what it was and actually two of my friends had recommended me to help find a lost « item » in a park. I inquired further and found that the lost item belonged to former Empress of the Imperial Court of San Francisco, celebrity drag queen and legend of the LGBTQAI+ community of San Francisco, Ms. Donna Sachet!
Anyone who has had « celebrity » clients can tell you there is an extra sense of anxiety that comes with finding items for them. And this case was no different.

I met Donna and her dog, Peanut, at the location and together we walked over to where she was seated on a picnic blanket tossing a ball for Peanut the day prior. She shared with me a photo of the large gold ring and told me she was presented with this ring when she won the Empress contest years prior. It was important to her. I understood the importance, it marked an accomplishment. An accomplishment that recognized her work in the community. Over the decades, Donna Sachet has performed as a singer and has raised and donated thousands upon thousands of dollars for various organizations in San Francisco, not the least of which was an organization that I worked for for over 3 years in the early 00’s – The AIDS Emergency Fund.

I had been working for events that raised funds for HIV/AIDS and/or Breast Cancer organizations for many years already by the time I moved across the country from NY to San Francisco. It was through my work in NY  that I was able to secure a job in SF before I even arrived from NY. That job then lead to the AIDS and Breast Cancer Emergency Fund where I stayed for over 3 years before G.W. Bush cut government funding through the Ryan White CARE Act forcing the Emergency Fund to restructure. Unfortunately for me, that restructure did not include a position for me.

As a woman I always found it difficult to be recognized or seen when in a crowd of cute gay men working or meeting some of the folks who helped us raise money, so I didn’t expect Donna to remember or recognize me from those days. But our long list of mutual friends made sure we connected to help her find her ring.

I was running my new Legend and the ground at the park was  extraordinarily trashy. It took a while for me to adjust to the Legend since I’d only been out with it twice before and this was it’s first ring hunt. After close to an hour, Donna left, with tears in her eyes, thinking she would never again see her Empress ring.

Fortunately, I don’t give up easily. I put my hat on backwards, changed from my sunglasses to no glasses (a risky decision usually), put my headphones on (which had been off so Donna could hear the signals too) and within 20 or so minutes I located the ring.

I suspect it’ll be a while before Donna forgets me now!

Recovering Lost Treasures: A Backyard Wedding Ring Rescue in Camarillo CA

  • from Santa Barbara (California, United States)

Karl’s distress call regarding his lost wedding ring in his backyard prompted immediate action. Confident it slipped off while gardening, we arranged a search. Despite previous attempts, the ring remained elusive.

Equipped with my trusty metal detector, we meticulously combed through the area. Initially finding only screws from a fence repair, we didn’t lose hope. Moving to the cleared section, we decided to inspect the green barrel’s contents. Before doing so, a detector signal near the weed-moved area caught our attention.

Excitedly, we dug beneath two inches of soil, unveiling Karl’s cherished wedding ring. The relief and joy were palpable. If you’ve lost a ring in your backyard, don’t hesitate to call for prompt assistance at 805-290-5009.

***My Most Resent Recovery: About a half hour before sunset I received a call from Joshua. He and Maria, his future bride were doing photo shoots with the bridal party at Little Corona Beach, located in the city of Corona Delmar. Maria tried to remove a small gold ring from a ring box when it slipped from her fingers landing in a mass of reef rocks and sand. This whole photo shoot was co-ordinated to happen as the sunset. They proceeded with the series of photos even thought the ring couldn’t be found.

One of the persons with them found my information online. After a short conversation. I told them i was only a couples miles from their location and would be there within 20-25 minutes. I needed at least one person to show me the general area. They had dinner reservations for the 10 people in the   bridal party and could not stay while I searched. “No Problem “ for me, once they showed me the general location. After finding the super small gold ring. I would drive to the restaurant to return it.

People still don’t know this service exists. If you want to help people find this service, post this information on your local social websites. I can help you find your lost item.

Lost Wedding Ring Found in West Salem, Ohio!

  • from Wooster (Ohio, United States)

Yesterday evening just before 5pm, I received a text from Karissa who had lost her custom-made wedding ring in her front yard two weeks earlier. She found me on The Ringfinders and was hoping I could help locate her ring. After confirming some details, we headed out and arrived at her place around 6:15pm. After brief introductions, Karissa lead us to the general area she believed the ring should be. While discussing the events that had lead to the loss of the ring, we discovered she’d also lost her Apple watch! So, we got to work! After thoroughly searching the target area, we decided to expand our search radius. Around 7:30pm, Karissa and her husband had to leave to take their little one for ice cream and she told us we didn’t have to keep looking, but we could if we wanted. I told her as long as there’s light we’d love to keep at it! She defined the property lines and thanked us. I told her we’d text if we found it, or when we were leaving, whichever came first and off they went! We continued to gradually and methodically expand our search area and at 7:55pm we had a solid tone in the leaves between some trees. We had found the Apple watch! We text her a picture and she confirmed! By this time the sun had set but, luckily for us, the moon was pretty bright so we decided to focus on the area where we found the watch! It wasn’t too long before I heard that beautiful, unmistakable tone! I called my partner over to shine some light on the spot as I gently ran my pinpointer over the leaves. I turned over a handful of leaves and there it was! Woohoo! We texted Karissa with a picture and the excitement that came back in the next few texts was awesome! It’s why we do this! She said they’d be home soon. We packed up and waited in the car until they got back. When they did get back, she jumped out of the SUV and rushed to us beaming from ear to ear! We handed her the ring and the watch and she still couldn’t believe it! How exciting! After a brief chat, lots of thank yous, a few pics and tons of smiles, we headed out! What a great way to wrap up a weekend!

Lost Gold Wedding band at Makua Beach…FOUND!!!

  • from O‘ahu (Hawaii, United States)

This ring find began when I got a text from Valeria late yesterday evening asking if I could hunt that night or the next morning.  I immediately called the number to get the details.  Valeria was sitting on the beach with her ring in her lap to put on some sun tan lotion.  Her dog jumped up from where they were on the beach so when Valeria jumped up to get him the ring flew out into the sand somewhere and disappeared.  We decided to meet at 7ish the next morning at Makua Beach so I could be shown the area to hunt.  Daniel & Valeria arrived and she remained behind to watch the vehicles while Daniel and I went down to hunt.  Daniel drew a box in the sand for me and I started the grid search.  I got a nice « 57 » on the Manticore and after two scoops there was Valeria’s beautiful band glistening in the morning sunlight.  Elapsed time maybe one minute.  When we got back to the car Valeria was shocked to see us so quick.  Daniel didn’t hesitate and immediately gave her back her ring.  She was in shock as to how quick her day got so much better then yesterday!  Aloha to Valeria & Daniel!
