Ring lost while proposing

  • from Fernandina Beach (Florida, United States)

Got a text this morning with this story.  On a weekend trip to Amelia Island, my boyfriend and I walked down to the beach at the State Park.   It was on Sunday around noon and we were about to leave.  He took me down to the beach and went to take the ring out of his pocket to propose to me but the ring snagged on his his shirt and went flying.   I couldn’t believe this, he took the ring out and it snagged and now was lost.   We contacted the ranger who looked with a metal detector and we even went and bought a cheap metal detector.   We looked for 6 plus hours and gave up.  We had to get back to West Virginia.  Melissa found me on Google this morning and text me her story.   I drove to the location and within 5 minutes I got a good signal.  One scoop in the sand and the ring was found.  Her future in-laws are headed to Florida and will pick it up on their way down.   Now they have a happy proposal story.

Widow’s Ring Hilton Head

  • from Fernandina Beach (Florida, United States)

I saw on FB where a ring had been lost. I sent them a message about Ringfinders and told them to call me if they would like me for me to come search. They called. Young lady lost her husband unexpectedly two weeks ago. A friend brought her to the beach to help her grief and get away for a few days. While she was down at the beach she lost her ring in the edge of the water. She was devastated. Just to have lost her husband and now the ring he gave her. She and her friend had already left and returned to NC. It had been two days since she lost it and they had pretty much given up hope. But 20 minutes of searching and I was able to call them with good news! Many tears shed over the phone. Tomorrow I will hand the ring off to her friends family so they can return it to her in person. God is good! Continue prayers for this young widow and her family.

Lost engagement ring found

  • from Fernandina Beach (Florida, United States)

I actually saw a post on Facebook and called the number.   I explained that I was with ringfinders and I would be happy to come look if they wanted me to.

They couldn’t believe I would drive 2 hours to search for the ring.

I was there for maybe 10 minutes and found a gold ring.   Then a hour later I found her engagement ring.  They did not tell me they had actually lost two rings.    The first ring was hers too.    If I had known that, I would have probably stayed in the water and found the second one close by.   They were shocked when they got the call that the ring had been found.   They were even more shocked when I told her I had found her other ring also.

They were very appreciative and I appreciate the reward.

Hopefully I can get the video of her getting her ring back up so everyone can see her reaction and hear her story.  Here is the link.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9Ey5Qc9hlM&feature=share

Diamond engagement ring found in Savannah, Georgia

  • from Fernandina Beach (Florida, United States)

What do you do when someone calls for help and they want you to come the morning of your anniversary, you go.  After you ask your wife of course.
I received a call while vacationing on Hilton Head about a lost ring.   The ring had been dropped off a dock while throwing a cast net.  The husband had looked for a little while that night.
I meet them the next morning at low tide and while it was still dark.   After coming up empty after maybe 30 minutes, I finally found the ring.  It had been stepped on and was buried deep.   It was a nasty hunt but well worth the trouble.  When I found the ring I did not tell them.  I walked out to wash off and gave them a sad story about the ring probably being stepped on and out of range being buried in the mud.   I then reached in my pocket and gave her a nail, then a dime and then I said I found another piece of trash (the ring).   She was excited and her husband couldn’t believe it.   It was the most beautiful ring I have ever seen.   They asked what they owed and told them they could decide.  It was a very generous reward.   I could now get my wife a nice anniversary present.   Thank you Jesus for helping us today.

Lost Ring found in Fernandina Fl. Guitar player happy!!

  • from Fernandina Beach (Florida, United States)

I parked at a beach side restaurant in Fernandina.   On the back deck there was a band playing and I recognized the lead singer.   I decided to go metal detect the beach and come back later that night to say hello.

At 11:00, I came back and they were packing up.   I walked up behind the stage and spoke to Lauren, the lead singer.   While we were talking, I notice a guy raking the sand behind the stage.   I asked Lauren if the guy was looking for something.   Sure enough he had flung his wedding band off his finger while he was trying to loosen up his fingers.   I walked over and asked if needed help.   I told him I had a metal detector and I help people recover lost rings.

I walked to the truck and pulled out the detector and my sand scoop.   I thought this would be a simple find, Man was I wrong.   There was so many bottle caps, not to mention he had raked over the spot it had fallen.   After almost 3 hours of cleaning the area of bottle caps and pull tabs, I still had not found the ring.   I was tired and thirsty.   I needed to find me some water and take a break.

After getting a bottle of water and detecting the beach for an hour, I headed back to the dunes behind the stage.   I was bound and determined to find the wedding band.   One, I didn’t want to let the guy down and two, this was not just any wedding band.   This was the band his dad wore for over fifty years.  It was the one his mom had given his dad when they were married.   His dad gave it to him to wear after his mom died.

I walked over to the area and said a quick prayer.  I waved the detector and got a good signal.   I took out the pinpointer and was thinking I would have another pull tab.   A few scoops of sand with my hands and there it was.    Thank you Jesus!

I sent Frank a text telling him I had given up   He text back thanking me for trying.   Then I text him back and told him I only have up for a little while and went back    I sent him the picture of the ring.   He was very happy    Now his wife would be happy again and his dad would keep him in his will.

i will post return soon

Engagement ring found in Waycross,GA

  • from Fernandina Beach (Florida, United States)

I received a text from Hayden asking if I was the one who helped people find rings.   I called her back and told her I was and asked her details of where she was when she lost it.   I was already headed that way and told her and her husband I would be there in 10 minutes.

She had handed her husband the rings  in the parking lot of a  doctors office while she put on lotion.   Their young daughter took off running toward the street and he took off after her.   As he did, he slung the rings.   They were able to find the band but not the diamond ring.

I started searching where he was standing.   I knew the ring had to be somewhere in the grass and I should get a good shallow signal.   After about an hour of searching the grass and shrubs, I couldn’t believe I wasn’t finding it.   We all started praying.   The other ring was found on the other side of the driveway on the pavement.   So they suggested I look there.   I searched for a couple of minutes and just didn’t see how it could be over there.   I went back over the original area again.   No luck.   So back to the area where the other ring was found.   I started around a bush of Ivey and got a loud shallow signal.   I took out the pinpointed and moved the Ivey back and there it was.   Thank you Lord!

iPhone found and returned, Jacksonville Beach

  • from Fernandina Beach (Florida, United States)

I was out detecting Jacksonville Beach yesterday.   I wasn’t getting a lot of good signals,  mostly pull tabs.  After about an hour of detecting, I had a crazy erratic high signal, the numbers were all over the place.  I put my scoop in the sand and out of the sand about 6 inches deep was an iphone.  It was not in a waterproof case and sure enough it would not turn on.  Bummer, as I was hoping to locate the owner.

After a couple more hours of detecting, I was approach by a gentleman.  He came over and asked if I could help him locate his phone.  He had dropped it in about waist deep water.  I asked him if it was in a waterproof case and he said it was.  I told him I would be right back to help look.  I took my pouch and my keys to the lifeguard down the beach, I was not prepared to get waist deep and didn’t want to loose my valuables in the water.  I went back and asked him a few questions about where he was standing.  The tide had turned about 45 minutes earlier and was coming in fast.  I walked out to were the waves were crashing the shore, about waist deep.   He and a couple of other people had already been looking.    I wasn’t sure if I would find it because the waves were pretty rough.  I got in the water and walked up the beach about 30 yards and made my turn to come back.  About half way back, I got the same signal I had gotten with the other phone.  I knew I had it under the coil.  I call him over and told him to reach under the coil and get his phone.   I couldn’t reach down, I didn’t have my waterproof headset on and I knew the waves would cover my head if I reached down.  He reached down and right as he was grabbing his phone, a wave knocked him over.  When he came up, he was smiling for ear to ear.  He had his phone in his hand.   Thank goodness it was still working

This is why I love this hobby.

I am trying to dry out the other cell phone and I still hope to return it to it’s owner soon.

Jewelry found with no owner at Fernandina Beach

  • from Fernandina Beach (Florida, United States)

Found a very nice ring last night just combing the beach with the metal Detector.    I called the resort to report the find, but no one had reported a ring lost.   This is why you need to call “The Ring Finder” in the area.
