I was contacted while on holiday by the husband of a lady who lost her ring while feeding her chickens.
The husband was quite upset as was she and there was talk of lots of hassles with the insurance company.
I was convinced it would still be there unless the chickens stole the ring!
After an extensive search of the garden and repeated searches in the shed, I found the ring in a sack of hay!
Very happy all round!
I recovered this gold ring after and extensive search of a garden near Reading, the compost pile had been scanned along with all the beds and under every bush etc. At first I hit a signal but it was too deep but I had to investigate as you do. This was a real bonus as out popped a lovely silver ring the the gents wife was very fond of so she kept it. Sorry but no pictures for this one.
A few hours later while searching in the vegetable patch I found the rather large gold ring! A very happy Professor!
A young lady lost her gold ring a couple of weeks ago. It was given to her by her grandmother. This was a family heirloom and needed to be recovered.
After a long search in a very popular scenic site of Wittennham Clumps in Oxfordshire the pair were finally reunited.
Made everyone’s day.
« Undetectable » Diamond & Platinum Earring Recovered… Just Barely!
Today’s recovery was for a lady who lost her impressive diamond stud earring while staining her deck a few days ago. She at some point took off her dust mask which probably caught her earring and flung it off into the unknown! She noticed the back landed in between the boards, and then realized her loss.
After her and her husband scoured the yard, and squeezed under the deck to look for it, they tried renting a metal detector. They found out quickly, though, stud earrings are very hard to detect because they contain so little actual metal. In fact, their rental unit could not even detect it when they passed it over the 2nd earring.
I had confidence that at least one of my machines should be able to outperform this rental unit and headed out with all 3. After testing on the other earring, I was pretty surprised to find my 2 most expensive detectors would not detect this target!
My least expensive unit did, but just a barely audible sound would come through, and only occasionally. I started getting pretty nervous that this hunt would be unsuccessful.
To make matters worse, the lawn area around the deck was littered with nails from the sloppy contractor who built it. I was getting a pretty sinking feeling, but I was determined to at least try. Many nails were pulled out of the ground, so I could concentrate on the whisper that the earring MIGHT give me.
Somehow, someway, I managed to pass over a quiet target and it was the earring! We were both so amazed and relieved, and glad that I have a few types of machines in my arsenal!

I received an email about a lost Gold Diamond Ring that has been lost since this spring. She lost the ring as she was laying down straw after spreading grass seed. She searched and was unable to find the ring. I started my search where she found her wedding band, that also fell off. I search and search and there was the ring hiding under the straw in the new grown grass. She was very happy to have the ring returned to her.

I received a call about a Lost Man’s Silver Titanium Wedding Ring. He was throwing a ball to his dog in the backyard when the ring flew off into the yard. He searched and searched was unable to locate the ring. After scheduling the best time to perform a search, I search the yard and there was the ring. He was happy that I was able to find his ring.

If the sun lotion scenario is the #1 reason for losing a ring at the beach, this is probably #2. It’s the « I took the ring off and put into the chair pocket, forgot it was there, folded chair and packed everything up when we were ready to leave, drove away and then remembered the ring scenario ». Marcus didn’t get far….just out of the parking lot when he realized what he had done. He returned and searched to no avail. Out came the phone and a Google search. He found my ad on Craig’s list and gave me a call. I told him I would be there within the hour and met him at the location. We walked over the the spot where they had the chairs laid out (the most likely spot of the loss) and I started my grid. Maybe 30 seconds later, I get the sound I wanted to hear on my E-trac and scooped out his ring. A happy Marcus gets to go home, tell the wife, and not have to share the accommodations with the dog. A pleasure meeting you Marcus and thank you for the reward.
Maureen and her two friends were visiting Mission Beach from much hotter Las Vegas, when her engagement and wedding rings ended up in the dry sand. You’ve heard the tail of woe many times before…..blanket, rings removed, sunscreen, forgot, stood up…..rings disappeared from sight. The hardest part about this search was just getting there, finding parking, and hiking to the spot on this Saturday afternoon during the summer. That took an hour for me and I’m only 12 miles away from the beach! Had to park about a mile away and hoof it to where they were waiting. I got the lowdown on how they were lost and the small search area was cleared of their belongings. Two passes and that area was clean of targets…..hmm….ok, please move your belongings again and I’ll search under them. Sure enough, got a nice 12-14 signal right under their bags with my trusty E-trac. I asked Maureen’s friend Crystal if she would like to do the honors of reaching into the sand right in front of my coil and pull the ring out. She dove into the sand and sifted sand through her fingers and no ring. What? I has to be there! She tried again and came up with a zipper pull. Wonderful…..make me look like a goof why don’t you! Another swing or two and another great 12-14 sound. Ok, this has to be it this time. Sure enough Crystal was able to sift the wayward engagement ring into her hand. One more swing with the coil and a repeat of the first ring. A happy Maureen and her friends will have a much more pleasant drive back to Nevada. A pleasure meeting you three and thank you for the reward.
My metal detecting friends Dale and Brian asked if I would help find a submerged watch for Preston. The watch was given to Preston 25 yrs. ago by his mother. It had fallen into his private pond about 2 yrs. ago.
On arrival Dale helped me set up the diving equipment and acted as my safety watch. Brian provided moral support while sitting in the shade and drinking a sports drink. The watch was found under the dock in about 10 minutes.
The dive was somewhat pleasant due to the 97 degree day, except for the pesky little bluegill that kept biting me.

Elisebeth was enjoying a day at the beach and buried her keys and phone in the sand under her blanket for safe keeping. When the tide started to come in and getting close to her blanket, someone moved it to higher ground, but, didn’t know about the keys and phone. Later when she was ready to leave, she realized her blanket wasn’t in it’s original location. The water had washed over the old area and she couldn’t locate the exact spot to retrieve her belongings. After a Google search and finding me on TheRingFinders.com website, we agreed to meet and conduct a search. Before we started, I mentioned that the phone and maybe her car fob may have been ruined by the salt water, but, she wanted them anyway. After showing me the search area, I started a grid right in the middle of it. After expanding out a couple of passes in each direction, I got a big signal that just had to be it. Sure enough, with just one scoop, up comes her keys and phone. Thankfully, she had the presence of mind to (previously unknown to me) put her items in a sealed plastic bag. Inside, everything was still nice and dry and working. A happy Elisebeth headed home with a smile on her face and not confronted with the ordeal of having to replace everything.
