Ventnor, NJ beachgoers know the joy of a day by the ocean, soaking up the sun and enjoying activities like a friendly game of catch. But for Doug, a fun day at the beach almost took a disastrous turn when his ring flew off while he was catching a football. Luckily, the story has a happy ending, thanks to the help of the Ring Finders South Jersey.

Doug was enjoying his time in Ventnor NJ, soaking up the sun and having a catch on the beach. But when Doug went to catch the football, disaster struck – his ring slipped off his finger and flew into the ocean. Allie quickly reached out to me for help finding the lost ring.
After asking a few questions to pinpoint the location, I began his search. After searching one area, Doug realized he was over a little further, and soon after, the metal detector picked up a great sounding signal. With a few digs, out popped the ring!
Doug and Allie were overjoyed to be reunited with the ring, and they could continue enjoying their time in Ventnor NJ. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, don’t hesitate to reach out to me who specializes in finding lost items on the beach.

On 06/10/2024, I was contacted by Angie regarding four rings that she had lost on the beach at 94th street in Ocean City, Maryland. Angie had placed all four of her rings in the pocket of her shorts for safe keeping while she went swimming. After swimming, Angie picked up her shorts at which time all four rings fell out of the pocket of her shorts into the sand. I met Angie at the beach at which time she guided me to the area of where she had lost her rings. The four rings were found all in the same area and returned to Angie.
I received a call today from a guy named Cameron who lost his platinum wedding band while gardening in above ground planters. I put my small coil on the CTX and found the ring in around 15 minutes. 
It was nearly two years ago that I got a call from a customer who had lost her rings while moving her chair at the beach while camping at Carpinteria State Beach. As I always do when i make a recovery I wish the folks well and joke that I hope to never see them again under these circumstances. Fast forward to today and I got a call from you know who, the same client from two years ago at nearly the same spot on the beach! This time instead of the chair being the culprit it was her young son. She had placed the rings on a small table while she put sunscreen on her son. For some reason he decided to pick up her rings and bring them to her but dropped one in the sand.
Unlike two years ago, instead of buying a metal detector and spending 5 hours trying to figure out how to use it she knew right away to call me at 805-290-5009. We laughed a bit and I assured her I would be out within the hour and have her ring back.
In about 3 minutes I had the ring in the scoop and it was back where it belonged. She made me promise to not put a picture of her in my blog because she was my first repeat customer. I assured her it’s always good to have a friend in the ring recovery business for those « just in case » times like these. We all had a good laugh and once again I told her I hoped I wouldn’t have to see her again under these circumstances.

On Wednesday, July 17, I received a text wanting to know if I traveled to a very distant location. I told them that I didn’t know for sure, I would have to look on a map. This was a request from a fellow coworker of a family member. So, I told them that I would do it. I took off and made it to the location by 7:00 PM. my concern was to have enough daylight to make things a little easier.
They had told me that the caller’s husband had been concerned about losing his ring, so he took it off and put it in a compartment on his jet ski. As you know that non-moving jet skis have a little stability issue and was pushing off from a dock and the jet ski rolled over. The compartment that held the ring popped open and the ring fell out. While it was a terrible incident, it was a blessing that it happened in a location that was only in 3 1/2 feet of water.
I went into the water at the location described and as you can imagine a boat launch that has been in operation for many, many years had debris from those years. A bottle cap or pull-tabs here and there, fishing weights, boat trailer parts and the many other items that you would think would be associated with well used boat launch. It was a much more difficult hunt then what I was thinking. The things that were going right were that the location was a small area, and the water was shallow in that location. There was small and medium size cobble or round rocks on the bottom that was making scooping a signal very difficult. What I was thinking was going to be a 30-40 minute turned into a 2-hour recovery.
I had brought 2 detectors with me, a Minelab Equinox 900 with a 10-inch coil, and a Garrett AT Pro with a small D coil. After hunting for an hour and a half, I decided to switch over to the AT Pro to help discriminate the different targets. This move was my saving grace. It allowed me much more control over the targets and pinpointing those targets was key. After about another 30 minutes I found the ring. What a beautiful sight it was to see it in my scoop. A white gold men’s wedding band, just like described.

I also have a God daughter that lived along the route, and I could make nervous that I was checking on her.

I received a text message this morning from a young lady who said her husband had lost his ring at third beach in Stanley Park, this time of year these beaches get detected on a regular basis, day and night. My first question was, did you lose it by a log? his reply was no it was closer to the seawall, which is a great thing, because most people detect all around the logs.
This gave me hope I cook the set up a time to meet at the beach and I did a little rescheduling for another search that was at least an hour and a half drive away from where this young man had lost his ring. I knew I had to go to this one first due to the high traffic area he lost it in.
After meeting the young man at the beach and hearing the story on how the ring was put on a chair, then the chair was moved a few feet over, it wasn’t until later he realized his ring was gone. Good luck, trying to find it in a desert of sand. His wife went home and found me online and text me for help, the rest was history. Fortunately, they marked the area and the search took less than a minute to find his beautiful ring and that wonderful smile. I love my job.!!!!

I got a call yesterday morning from Taylor who had a mishap with her ring while assisting at A-Frame Surf Shop’s summer surf camp at Santa Claus Beach in Carpinteria. She had placed her ring inside a clipboard for safe keeping only to have it disappear while someone got into the clipboard! The ring had huge sentimental value as she had gotten the ring while on a trip to Morocco so it was imperative we recover the ring and get it back.
A half-hour into the search and her good luck ring was right back where it belonged, on Taylor’s finger.

While I was in Texas with my wife Jan for the birth of our second grandson Anson and visiting with his brother Tillman and parents Joe and Madison (our daughter), I was contacted by Michelle from the Weeki Wachee/Spring Hill Florida area in early May who told me that she lost her wedding ring while doing yard work. Even though the ring had been lost in a location that could not be searched by anyone without Michelle’s permission, I asked Michelle if she would like to wait until I returned to Florida to search for her or if she prefer that I try to contact another trusted detectorist to search as soon as possible. Michelle told me that she could wait until my return and because we would be driving back from Texas in three weeks and passing within five minutes of her home, I could search for her then.
At the end of May, we headed back to Florida, stopping several places along the way. The day before we were to pass by Michelle’s home, I contacted her and set up a time to meet her. As we got close to the loss location the next day, Michelle texted to say that something had come up and that she would not be able to meet me for the search. I told her that we would set up another time after I returned home.
Michelle and I were able to set up another search time several weeks later and that day I made the hour long drive with my detecting buddy Jim Facinelli who was going to assist in this search as well as another search for a ring in the cool spring water at Crystal River.
We arrived at Michelle’s home and shortly after, we received some more details about the loss and we began our search. Michelle and her husband had been working on their irrigation system in the left side front yard which involved a lot of digging when she realized that her ring was missing from her finger. She had thoroughly searched the area which was more dirt than grass but had been unable to find it. Michelle’s daughter Christalynn had earlier searched with her own beginners metal detector but had been unable to find her mother’s ring. Jim and I scanned the area for about 45 minutes and dug several coins along with various pieces of scrap metal. There was very little grass for a ring to hide in but that area had seen some vehicle traffic in addition to the irrigation work so the ring could have been pushed further under the ground surface. The loss area was not large and Michelle was certain that she had lost her ring in this area so we gridded it several times and dug every target. I dug a possible gold target near a utility pole and out popped Michelle’s wedding ring from about a two inch depth! I held up the ring to show Jim and we both celebrated. As Michelle and her daughter had gone inside the house to take a quick break from the heat, Jim suggested that we have Christalynn come outside with her metal detector and “find” the ring. We reburied the ring and had Michelle and Christalynn come outside to the spot and Christalynn got a signal on her detector and began digging. She dug up a penny near the ring before she found the ring and proudly handed it to her mother! Thanks to Jim for that great idea and his assistance with the search.
