I received an email about a lost man’s Palladium wedding ring. The ring was lost somewhere in the backyard. He notice the ring missing a short time after he cleaned the sand from his little boy clothes after he was done playing in the sand box. I started my search with some good hits but no ring. I continue my search to the sand box, and there was the ring hiding in sand. He was very happy to have the ring returned to him.

Palladium Ring Found in Grass .. Encino, CA. .. Returned

  • from Newport Beach (California, United States)

Friday .. 8-14-15

I was just finishing an unsuccessful water search in Santa Monica beach. Started at 4am low tide walked back to my car at 7am. Just as I got to the car Brad called telling me he had lost his palladium wedding band on a soccer field in Encino, CA. I left right away for the park that was only about 10 miles away. Traffic co-operated making it possible meet Brad on the soccer field.
It was a large field but Brad had left a marker in the location where he had placed his backpack the night before. He believed that when he put his ring into the backpack, he missed the pocket and that the ring may be in the grass. He searched on his hands and knees till 11pm that night. He returned at 6am to continue searching. Brad got online finding TheRingFinders. He first called Steve Smith a fellow member of TheRingFinders, who recommended that he call me because Steve was out of town on a short vacation.

When I arrived, I started to grid the 40×40 ft area. Brad left me to search. Then I saw Brad searching way across the field. I got a little uneasy because it looked like he wasn’t sure where he lost the ring. I tried to ignore that thought concentrating on this location.. There was a lot of trash giving me 12-13 to 12-15 readings witch could be gold. I didn’t have an idea of what reading the palladium ring would give. Then I received a 12-23 ID reading at 2 inches. Going down with the pinpointer, I found the ring hiding deep in the grass, completely out of sight.
He looked over towards me and I held up the ring, yelling « I found it. » It was great to see the smile on Brad’s face. He also told me that his wife would be happy it was found. His last comment was,  » I  knew you could find it. » It was nice to get the job done, so Brad had time to get to work.

We got a call from a wonderful lady that said her husband (a pilot) had lost his ring while working in their front yard.  He was standing in a culvert ditch tossing some large rocks from one side of the driveway to the other and felt his ring slid off; he said he heard it « tink » twice but never saw it land.  He and his family searched for months looking for the ring without luck. He bought a cheap metal detector himself  but without success, his father-in-law came over with another detector but had no luck either.  Months past and his wife was playing around on the internet and found « The Ring Finders » website and called us.

We arrived and met with the couple, I truly think the husband felt is was a lost cause.  The ring had be lost for over 6 months. With the snowy/wet weather we have had this year he felt it was lost forever.

My wife & I got our Garrett Detectors and went to searching; we checked everywhere the husband said he thought is might be but had no luck.  So we went back over to where he stated he had been standing originally when he lost the ring.   The ditch was knee deep in leaves, trash, mud and an 18-inch metal pipe that went under their driveway.   After scanning over that area many times we decided everything had to come out of the ditch due to way too many hits on trash.  So on our hands and knees we began to pull out all the leaves and junk using our Garrett pinpointers to check every handful of trash for the ring.  After a short time I saw something shiny and I told my wife « I Got It ».  There stuck in the mud, 5-8 inches down in the muck, right where the husband had been standing throwing the rocks was his ring.  The « Tinking Sound » he heard must have been the ring hitting the metal culvert not the driveway as he thought.  The ring was in great shape.

And for the fun part, we went up to the door and rang the bell, the wife came to the door and she said « No Luck Huh » and we just smiled and I open my hand revealing her husbands « Palladium Wedding Ring », she said « Oh my gosh, let me go get him »  he was thrilled and we had « Another Successful Hunt for the the Dallas Ring Finders ».

God I love this hobby!

Till next time, detectors ON!

Lost Palladium Wedding Band at a Baseball Field in Vancouver, BC…Found!

  • from Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada)

I was driving home from two earlier searches when I received a call in regards to a young man’s lost wedding band that was made out of palladium.

The young man told me that he lost it the night before and searched with some friends but didn’t find it. When I showed up at the park there were kids everywhere…Summer soccer camps and other events but that didn’t stop us for asking if we could search the area,  the coaches were kind enough to let us search…

After 30 minutes of searching in a high potential area that John felt the ring could be in, I moved to the fence where it made sense to John and I that the ring could be in that area due to taking off his glove after the innings…

There it was in the long grass not far from a dirt patch and I was delighted to see it looking back up at me! You see John was just about to leave to go back to work, so the timing was perfect to surprise him! That I did…

I love my Job!

Thanks for the kind reward John!

15% of all money I make from my rewards goes to Children’s Hospital
