Wedding Ring Lost and Found at Indian Rocks Beach, Florida

Thursday Mike went to the beach on Indian Rocks for a mid-morning swim. When he got down to the water’s edge he realized that he still had his wedding band on. Normally he would leave it in the car to make sure that he did not lose it. He placed the ring in the pocket of his pants along with his keys and left them folded on the beach.

After returning from his swim he picked up the pants and walked up to the sand dunes then headed south to the walkway where he had parked. On the way he got his car keys out of the pants pocket and remembered he had put his ring in there also.  He looked for the ring but could not find it. He immediately started to backtrack his steps looking for the ring but could not find it.

He went home and started searching for metal detectors and called Myers Detector Depot in Tampa to see about renting one. Phil Myers told him to google the Ringfinders and they would be able to help.

He called Mike Miller who was on Madeira Beach and the time. Mike Miller met up with him at the location and started to hunt. After  hunting for quite some time Mike Miller questioned the location at which time Mike Muthig showed him a picture he had taken earlier at the place where he discovered the ring missing and turned out that they had been hunting in the wrong location. Mike Miller hunted the new area for a few minutes but had leave  due to time.

They called Tom Jones and set up a call out for the Ringfinders group at 6:00 pm.

Tom, Stan Flack, Paul Hill and Jerry & Debi Snyder  started a search of the area. They hunted the area several times with no luck. Not willing to give up so easy the team started hunt the rest of the path that Mike had taken and Tom soon found the ring.

Mike said that he had started to give up and felt bad that the team was still hunting. The ring was returned and Mike was happy again

Lost White Gold Wedding Band .. Huntington Beach .. Volleyball Court

Karl called me from the airport where he was waiting for his fight back to his home in Phoenix, AZ. He told me he had lost his wedding band while watching his daughter participate in a volleyball tournament. He texted me the location. It was one of 28 volleyball courts. I drove 5 miles, found his ring and was able to text him a photo of his ring just as he was shutting down his smart phone for the departure of his flight. The next morning I returned the ring to his wife, Kristen who will be returning to Phoenix later. Below is Karl’s side of the story.

Thanks again for finding my ring. I was attending my daughter’s beach volleyball tournament at Huntington Beach. During the game, an errant volleyball headed into the crowd towards me. I instinctively shot my left hand up into the air in an attempt to deflect the ball, and as I did, I felt my wedding ring fly off my finger. My wife and I looked around for it frantically, knowing that with each person walking by and kicking up sand, our chances of finding it were dwindling. After searching for about a half an hour, and seeing person after person kicking up sand and surely burying my ring, we resigned ourselves to having lost it for good.

Later that day, upon returning to our hotel and preparing to leave Los Angeles, I got on the internet and conducted a Google search for folks with metal detectors in the Huntington Beach area. I found Stan Ross on www.TheRingFinders.com and I called him from the airport as I was awaiting my flight. Stan was on the case in no time, and he kept me apprised of his status as he scanned the beach and I got ready to get on my flight. Then, just before departing, Stan texted me with a triumphant pic of my ring. He had found it! My wife and I were ecstatic! Luckily, my wife and kids had already planned to stay an extra day at the beach, so they were able to meet Stan and get my ring back. We’re very grateful for Stan’s services, and we give him our absolute highest recommendations. Thanks again Stan.

Clearwater Gardeners Lost Ring Recovered

During Sandy’s morning walk her fingers swelled from the humid air.  Sandy decided to take her ring off and put it in her pocket.  After her morning walk, Sandy decided to go right to the back yard and get some yard work done.  After cleaning the planter beds, mulching and starting to do some pressure washing she noticed her ring was missing from her pocket.  Knowing her son Josh had a friend that was a ringfinder, she called him for help.  Josh filled Stan Flack in and a time to meet in the backyard the next day was set.  Stan checked the plant beds, the bag of yard trash and mulch.  All that was left was the lawn between the back door and where Sandy had been working.  Five minutes on the lawn and the ring was found.  Smiles all the way around.  Sandy is a happy camper.

Lost White Gold Ring Found in Dearborn Heights Michigan

A Lovers Quarrel…..

During a heated argument last Thursday a future husband throws his future bride’s 2 rings into the back yard.

They find one of them but not the other. He called me from PA where they are moving to.

Bride to be is in shock because they had to leave the house in Michigan soon. Mother-in-law, pictured with ring, and I search the suspected area. We had lots of rain over the weekend and I told them it may have pushed it down in the ground. Using my older but trusty Garrett metal detector I searched for about half hr and got lots of signals, junk and coins….but then I got a double beep repeatable with very slow sweeps from all directions. Coming up in the ring range on the detector meter the depth registered on the surface and was in the direction of how they were thrown. This was also in the vicinity of where the main ring was found previously. A quick check with the pinpointer and moving the grass revealed the ring laying flat just sunk into the earths surface. Mother in law screams in excitement as I lifted it into the sunlight.

Quite a little beauty and look at all those diamonds! Everyone is happy and another great find!

Lost Wedding Band Found in Haddonfield NJ By Dave Milsted

Back Yard Troubles!!

Received a call from Katie. She told me that her husband lost his wedding band in their back yard. She found me by searching the internet and found Ring Finders.

I asked several questions about how it was lost. We decided on a date & time for me to search for the ring.

I arrived on a hot & sunny day in May. Katie’s kids were sleeping, so she said that she would be out in a few minutes.

I had Katie show me about where her husband was. She said he was in the driveway, cleaning out his car. He was throwing something when his ring came off. I had her show me the direction that he mad his toss.

I thought that I had enough information to start the search. The detector that I chose for this hunt was my Minelab CTX 3030 with a 11 inch coil. I started my search an the area was clear of trash.

1.5 minutes into the search I got my first signal. I moved the grass around and bingo, I had the wedding band in my hand.

I walked towards Katie & showed her the ring. She was amazed that I had found it so fast.  I took a few pictures and headed home. Another successful recovery!

Engagement Ring Recovered at Coquina Beach, Bradenton Beach, FLorida

Dianna, her fiancée Robby and three friends were out at Coquina Beach on Sunday evening to watch the sunset and play in the surf.  They were out about waist deep tossing a football when the ball came Dianna’s way. As she lunged to catch it she felt her engagement ring fly off. They all searched frantically for a couple hours but could not find it. The next morning Dianna found SRARC tagged on Facebook and clicked onto our website. She called Mike Miller and he scheduled a hunt for later that day. Tom Jones, Ed Osmar and Mike came together and met with Dianna at the beach at 2:00 pm. Dianna gave them the story and laid out the location she thought they should hunt. The group went to work and about 10 minutes later Mike found the ring right in the area Dianna had specified. When Tom gave her the thumbs up she could not believe it. We were just as happy returning her ring to her as she was to have it back on her finger. Just another great day at the beach with smiles all around.

Man’s lost Platinum wedding band found- Ramsey, New Jersey

image imageRamsey New Jersey was hit with a violent thunderstorm on Sunday,May 31 and Kyle’s crabapple tree lost a major branch.During the cleanup Kyle felt his wedding ring slip off. Hours of searching for the ring without finding  it prompted him to contact me to help in the recovery.

I met Kyle at his house on Monday ,June 1, 2015 to search for his ring. After checking the planting beds and front lawn,I approached the front door and found the ring hidden in the grass. Kyle was elated as he was about to leave for work and a business trip. The return of his ring put a whole new outlook to a rainy Monday.

Engagement Ring Recovered at Lido Beach, Sarasota

Andrew and Danielle were recently engaged and were spending a day at the beach to relax and just spend time together. They had been enjoying the sun and decided to play a little in the water. Andrew grabbed a ball and headed out onto the water and Danielle quickly followed. As she ran into the water Andrew tossed her the ball. Danielle leaped to catch the ball and felt her beautiful engagement ring fly off of her finger. They couldn’t believe it was gone. Andrew had saved for 5 years so he could get just the right ring. They borrowed swim goggles and recruited others with swim goggles to help search for the ring but they couldn’t find it. Andrew started to look for metal detectors on his smart phone. The Ring Finders popped up with a recent recovery made by SRARC. He contacted us and because they were there at the beach waiting Mike Miller made a quick response request and then headed for the location. After arriving and getting the exact search area narrowed down, Mike went to work. It took about 15 minutes to find the ring and return it to a disbelieving Danielle. What fun it was to see the big grins on their faces when they had the ring back on Danielle’s finger.

Three rings lost then recovered in Clearwater

Through a series of accidents, Ashley managed to lose three of her precious rings in the yard. She found SRARC on The Ring Finders and we scheduled a recovery attempt. Howard Metts, Stan Flack, Ed Osmar and Mark Prue all responded to the call and had the three rings back in Ashley’s hands in very short order. Ashley let us know how she felt in her own words below.

I just want to take the time out to say thanks so much for coming to help me find my 3 rings. I never thought it would be possible to master the impossible. Before hearing about you, I thought I had no chance or hope of finding them. You have truly blessed me and I thank God for such an amazing club fulfilling the work of God. You are a blessing to many so for that we Thank you! You all rock.

Ring lost at Coronado Beach Found!

I’ve had a few recoveries that only took seconds to locate the lost ring. This is not one of those times! Sara called me and asked for help finding  a gold ring lost in the surf at Coronado. She had gone out in the water and when a wave hit her, the ring slid off her finger into the calf deep water. She had inherited this ring from her great aunt Mildred, who had passed away in 2009 at the age of 97, and was just sick about the thought of losing this family heirloom.

I met her at the beach that very evening to try to make a quick recovery before the surf, sand, or another detectorist had their way with it. Unfortunately, the tide was in at that point and the surf rather rough. I went out as far as I could but could see that it would be best to try at a low tide (which was about when she had lost it). I made some mental notes as to the location and paced off my steps from known landmarks so I could return to the spot the next day. Good thing, as the weather during the next afternoon low was very windy with blowing sand, which obliterated any sign of where they had camped the previous day. Went out in the same area but in deeper water. Still no luck. Came back twice more in next few days at an even lower tide during the early AM but still couldn’t find it even after expanding the search area. I called Sara, who had been visiting and had flown back home, and told her that I would still keep it on my list and would be back out in a couple of weeks at a real low minus tide and try again.

Fast forward to that day at 3am. It was a day after a storm, so, typical of our south bay beaches, the water was polluted with bacteria from rain run-off and the beach was posted not to swim in the water. Figures, the one day I get a real low tide and I’m limited as to what I can do. I rehunted the same area and went out as far as I could go without going out past ankle deep. I followed the waves in and out trying to hit the area farthest out that I hadn’t been able to search before. 4:15, dead low tide and I get a nice sound on my Excalibur right at the water’s edge, but, just then, a wave is coming in and I couldn’t get a scoop of sand before I had to retreat. I counted my steps toward the beach so I could return to the same spot. Took 40 steps both ways 5 times before I finally got the signal in my scoop. Yes! I was never happier to get a ring in my scoop than this one. So, after 18 days, 5 trips to search that area, and less than ideal conditions, it was finally found.

I texted Sara the good news and the next day met with her local friend Bonnie who was going to return it to Sara. I’m sure her great aunt Mildred helped guide me on this one! Here’s the ring, a happy Sara, and a photo of Mildred taken at about the same age as Sara is today. It was a pleasure to meet Sara and her friends and thank you for the reward. Can I have an easy ring find now? 🙂
