Lost Engagement / Wedding Rings Found Metal detecting Lake Minnesota

Noelle & Kevin called me about Noelle’s lost wedding band and engagement ring. They were visiting relatives on a lake in Minnesota. It was a very hot day and they decided to take a swim off the dock. Noelle took her rings off and left them with her shoes and towels on the dock. While they were swimming, their dogs were playing on the dock and knocked the rings into the water. They searched to no avail and decided to google « lost rings » to see if anyone could help. Google came up with the theringfinders.com and they gave me a call. It had to be a quick turn around as they were only visiting for a couple days and were leaving soon. I switched a few plans around and headed up to the lake. It was a really quick search, I think I spent only 1 minute underwater before finding both rings.

Congrats Noelle, truly glad I could help. Both Kevin & Noelle were very gracious and very helpful. Hopes and prayers for a long & happy life together.

I received a call from a young man named Tyler who lost his 14 karat yellow gold wedding band in the bay at Fenwick Island, Delaware. He saw the ring fly into the water as he was applying sunscreen lotion just before taking the boat out with his wife and family for an all day cruise.

When Tyler realized that he needed to call for a professional metal detectorist in the Fenwick Island area, he searched online and found THE RING FINDERS – an international directory of metal detectorists who specialize in recovering lost rings for people around the world.

I was so happy to talk with Tyler and once I got the story of what happened to his ring, we set up an early morning appointment the following day. I left my house at 3:30am to arrive in Fenwick Island, Delaware by 7am and then meet up with Tyler by 8am. Once I arrived at Tyler’s beach house located on the bay side, he took me around back and showed me his personal dock where the boat was tied up. He had moved the vessel over to another slip so that I was able to easily work near the location where the wedding band went into the water.

Tyler showed me the exact spot where the ring disappeared into the 5 feet of water below, next to a piling. I told the young man that I would get my equipment and get the party started.

Within a few minutes, I was back out on the dock, testing the water for any live electricity with my Shock Alarm. Everything was safe and ready for me to then adjust my detector to the correct settings to help my efforts in finding the sentimental keepsake.

With my wetsuit and detecting harness on and my sand scoop and waterproof metal detector in hand, I jumped into the water off of the dock and started my search for Tyler’s ring.

Slowly and methodically, I swung the detector coil from left to right seeking out the most credible target signals in the area where Tyler saw the ring enter the water. There were all kinds of pieces of metal down below and I had to determine which signals to investigate and others to ignore.

Within a couple of minutes, a fantastic target signal registered on my screen and sounded through my headphones. The only problem was that the piece of metal was resting very close to the piling that was in the corner of the slip. I wasn’t sure if I could capture the item in my scoop or not, yet I was determined to give it all of my effort to see exactly what it was.

After several attempts to scoop up the particular target that I was after, I waived the detector over the area near the piling and curiously, I no longer could hear the signal anymore. Though I was a bit pessimistic that the item was in my amazing Xtreme X3 titanium sand scoop developed and manufactured by Ring Finder member John Volek, I still sifted through the silt and mud that remained in the scoop just to make sure. To my greatest surprise, I took notice of a handsome piece of yellow gold shining in the middle of the remaining silt in the scoop! I did it! I found Tyler’s missing gold wedding band! I was able to successfully recover it from the depths of the Fenwick Island Bay!

I was absolutely taken back at that moment as I picked up the ring from within the scoop! All of the family that were hanging out on the second floor screened-in balcony cheered me on as I waived the ring in the air from within the water and then excitedly handed it back to its proper owner!

Seeing how happy this moment made Tyler and his wife Sarah was worth the 3 hour journey to the beach and then another 3 hours inland to my next client! Helping others recover their lost treasures and sentimental keepsakes like I did for this couple is something so special to be a part of! I consider this happy ending story for Tyler and Sarah to be my lost treasure found…another smile recovered!

Lost Platinum & Diamonds Engagement Ring at Moana Surfrider Beach Waikiki…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got an emotional call and plea to come down to the Moana Surfrider Beach in Waikiki to find Dinah’s Platinum & Diamonds Engagement Ring that she just lost in the water. Dinah told me the lifeguards hunted with detectors but couldn’t find her ring in waist deep water. I told Dinah I usually won’t hunt after a lifeguard search for reasons I don’t like to discuss. Let’s just say it’s not always on the Up and Up. She was so distraught I went against my instincts and told my wife Wendy I had to go give it a shot. Waikiki is finally experiencing an onslaught of tourists and parking is non-existent so my wife said she could drop me off then deliver a few items to her brother that lives nearby Waikiki. Perfect! I told Dinah I’d grab my gear and meet her in front of the Moana Surfrider in 20 minutes. When I arrived Dinah was so grateful and she and her fiance’ Vince walked me down to the beach to show me where the ring was lost. Dinah and Vince are from Northern California and on vacation in Waikiki. Dinah decided to go for a swim and when she was returning a wave pulled her out to sea then the next threw her to a seated position in the water and her ring popped off and disappeared. It’s like soup with zero visibility and she tried to locate the ring but only a detector could do it now. I was pleased to see the lifeguards that attempted to search were two of the good guys so I was sure the ring was still here. They also added some clues as to the location due to tide changes. Every piece of information helps and they suggested I try the low tide trough first. I did just that and got a pull tab and a beaver tail. Each took several scoops to retrieve as the surf was going from thigh to neck deep constantly. After no luck in the trough I decided to go up the wet sand slope and then back into the water neck deep. On the third up slope I got a screaming « 16 » on the Nox and in one scoop of the wet sand there was Dinah’s stunning ring glistening in the sunlight. Dinah initially told me her ring was white gold but this ring was platinum but looked exactly like the picture she showed me when I arrived. Sure enough it was her ring and Dinah was so overcome with joy she couldn’t stop hugging me. She had just Googled how to pray the Rosary when I called over to her to tell her I found it. The Lord works in mysterious ways and I feel blessed to be able to enjoy this hobby so much. We all embraced and shook hands and the folks on the beach were clapping and shouting « Congratulations ». I Love this and Aloha to Dinah & Vince!

Lost wedding ring Kailua found

This ring find started with a phone call while I was at work. Jenny called me and asked if I was free and available to come over to Kailua  and help her find her lost wedding ring which is in the water around chest to waist deep. I asked Jenny some important questions to narrow down the search site all the while getting the equipment ready and loaded into the truck. I lock up the business and head out to help find this lost precious rings. Having to travel halfway across the island in the middle of the evening and knowing the sun is setting soon brings upon anticipation and a streak of determination. I Arrive at Kailua Beach and gather the CTX 3030 and the xtreme scoop. I meet the family on the beach and gathered more information concerning the place they believe the ring dropped in the water and the time so I could adjust concerning the tides. I Powered up the machine and had enough information to start looking and  let the family know that the rings are exactly where we will find them. I know this hunt has a time urgency and down the beach I go… I can see the sun setting over the mountains as I enter the water. As I enter I get my first target and dig it. It’s a bottle cap. I hold it up to show the family that it’s not what we’re  looking for. It was excitement in their eyes until they realized it was not the rings. I yelled out I’ll continue to move on and with excitement in their eyes and hope on the edge of the seat the family gazed while I grid the ocean floor. I receive a few other tones that makes me dig and i come up with pulltabs and coins. There in the Pacific Ocean in waist deep water I get a beautiful tone knowing this is the ring. I scoop with caution because it is a diamond ring. I look in the bottom of my scoop and there is one of the two lost rings. I search a little farther and lo and behold I hear the sound of the other ring. I dig and look in the bottom of the scoop and there it is the other beautiful diamond ring shining as the sunsets behind the koolau Mountain Range. I walked out of the water looking at my detector and as the family walks to me I placed one of the rings in the bottle cap and tell the family… well seems like I found a bottle cap and hold out the bottle cap with one of the rings sitting inside of it. And I can hear the joy as they all realize the ring is found. And as they look at the ring that was lost and now found I can see the questions in their head of where is the other one and that’s when I was able to pull out the second ring and say we done it! here is your loss rings that is now found. And as I returned the rings and got the most warmest hugs from the family I got to take a step back and see Such a beautiful family with The heart and care for one another. Truly the Hawaiian way of living… close as always.

I’m thankful I was able to help and I’m happy to know the rings are in the rightful owners hands. Another successful recovery and beautiful sunset to go along with it.

Lost wedding ring found in Destin, Fl

Anna and her husband were visiting the beach in Destin, fl when she lost her engagement ring and wedding ring in the water. She called me in a panic and I assured her we could recover it. I showed up within 2 hours and after 15 minutes of searching in waist deep water I was able to recover both rings. Needless to say she was very happy. Another successful recovery.

Ring lost at Pacific Beach found

Glynis was visiting San Diego with her boyfriend and while spending a day at Pacific Beach she lost her ring in the ocean. Out in the water, her hands got wet and cold causing her finger with the ring to shrink a bit and make it fit rather loose. She decided to change her ring to another finger so it would fit tighter. A simple fumble of the ring, and it was in the surf and gone from view. They both searched for the ring in the 2 foot deep water to no avail. They also returned the next morning at low tide hoping to spot it, but, as we all know, that just doesn’t happen. The ring is a family heirloom passed down from her grandmother (recently deceased) to her mother and then to her, so, Glynis was totally heartbroken thinking it was lost forever. She decided to run a lost ring ad on Craigslist where I spotted it and contacted her with the option of having a Ring Finder search for it. She agreed and was cautiously hopeful.  She and her boyfriend had already gone home to Washington state, so, we had to do this by descriptions and directions. I arrived before low tide and scoped out the search area. Not terribly large, but, when you’re talking about a water search on a gently sloping beach at low tide, it gets big in a hurry. With a photo of the ring, and a search area defined, I started on the south end of it and worked my way north in a wet sand to waist deep surf grid pattern. It was an hour before I got my first signal of any kind. Rats, just a scrap piece of copper. Another half hour later and I got my second signal…..a brass grommet…..double rats, or words to that effect! Another half hour later, I was approaching the north end of the search area and was getting cold, tired, and discouraged by the lack of targets. There were lots of holes, troughs, and sand bars forming and disappearing in the mounting surf, so, there was a lot of sand shifting. I was hoping that in the 4 days the ring was there that it didn’t get buried too deep, or, I started thinking that maybe someone else had found it in the interim. At that moment, I got a weak, but, solid 9 on my Equinox in about a foot of water. 2 scoops down and I pulled out her ring! Glad to get out of the water, I gave Glynis a text with a photo of her ring. She was overjoyed to see it was recovered and that she will be able to wear it again. We made arrangements later that day to ship the ring to her, so, the story continues…….I’m glad I was able to find it and thank you Glynis for your generous reward.

I received a text from a woman named Betty who was contacting me on behalf of her friend Yanatan. The gentleman lost his 14 karat yellow gold wedding band at a party one night in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Betty shared with me that there were a bunch of people hanging out on a second floor deck in the back of a friend’s house, drinking and enjoying each other’s company. Yanatan’s ring slipped off of his finger and landed on the deck floor while having fun amongst friends. When he went to pick up the very special keepsake, the ring somehow slipped into a gap between two floor boards and disappeared below.

At first, Yanatan and Betty searched  for the ring with their phone lights at the ground level below the deck. When they couldn’t find what they thought to have been quite easy to recover, the entire house party became an official search party!

With five people looking everywhere for the missing wedding band, everyone’s kind and concerned efforts could not turn the search into a celebration in the end. The yellow classic gold wedding ring was still out there… somewhere.

This is the chapter in the story when I come into the picture. Betty looked online to see if she could find a metal detector rental service in Silver Spring, Maryland. Instead of locating a rental outlet, Betty stumbled upon an article about THE RING FINDERS, an international directory of metal detectorists who specialize in finding lost rings. Immediately intrigued, she called me and shared the story of what happened to her friend’s ring. We agreed that if her friend couldn’t find the band with a metal detector, I would be scheduled to visit the house.

As it turned out, even with the assistance of a detector and an added day of looking, still nothing turned up. So, the following day I arrived at the Silver Spring house. I greeted the owner of the place named Nadu who was the one who threw the party three days earlier. He felt bad that his friend Yanatan had lost his ring somewhere in his backyard under the deck.

First, I was taken behind the house and under the deck that was located on the second floor of the house. This made the search very easy because I was able to do all of my detecting standing straight up. There was no need for crawling under tight spaces.

I returned to the car, retrieved my gear and then immediately started the search. I metal detected all around the ground underneath the deck, hoping I could solve the mystery as to where the wedding band had ended up.

The 14 Karat Gold Wedding Band « Halo » Spotted by Brian’s Metal Detector and Eyes!

Well, as it happened, the entire search only took less than a minute (if even that much time) to find the lost treasure! I finished my quick grid lines and was then searching closer to the side areas below the deck, near some patches of grass and dirt. About the same moment that I heard and viewed a promising signal on my machine, I saw the golden halo that I had hoped to find! It was pushed straight down into the ground with just a little bit of the rim of the band showing! The search was already over just shortly after it had begun!

Apparently, someone at the party that night who was helping to search for the ring under the deck, accidentally stepped on the ring and pushed it far enough into the ground so that it made it much more difficult to be identified. In addition to that, unless one had some experience with a metal detector and set tge settings correctly, it would have been difficult for the ring to be recovered.

I was thrilled to surprise Nadu and his wife Mary who couldn’t believe where I spotted the missing ring! They ended up contacting Betty and Yanatan to let them know that the mystery had been solved and that Yanatan was getting his very special ring back soon enough!

Lost Titanium Wedding Band at Electric Beach Oahu…FOUND!!!

This ring find began yesterday when I received a text from Joe who hails from Indiana and serves in the Navy on a Guided Missile Destroyer homeported at Pearl Harbor. Joe told me that the day before while at Electric Beach on the west coast of Oahu he had taken off his Titanium Wedding Band and placed it in a beach bag before going into the water along with his other clothes. When he returned he put his clothes on and went to reach inside the bag for his ring and it was gone. Everyone assumed it had to be in the sand near the bag but after a half hour search the ring was no where to be found. After a Google search for « lost ring Oahu » Joe found my contact number and sent a text. I responded and we decided to go to the beach the next day during my lunch break. Since Joe lived in the barracks on base and that’s where I work we decided to go over in my car since I had all the gear. When we arrived at Electric Beach Joe drew a 40 foot by 30 foot grid box in the sand where he believed the ring should be. I started the search and immediately started getting a few good tones but they ended up being a old pull tab and a nickel. Not familiar with Titanium I dug everything. I was about to complete the grid and only had about 4 more feet to go when I got a screaming 13 on the Nox and in one scoop there was Joe’s Titanium Wedding Band. So relieved Joe held back his emotions and just said, « My gosh Thank you so much ». I said « You drew that grid just big enough » « Good job now let’s go back to base. » Aloha to Joe and have fun on your first deployment and be safe!
