I received a text last night from Maura about a lost gold cross. I gave Maura a call to get some more information and was told that her mother had lost a gold cross that was a wedding gift from her father who had passed away recently.  Her mother had it on when she left the house to visit the cemetery but when they got there her sister realized the cross was gone when they went to untangle the chains. It was thought that the cross could be in the backyard, the car or the cemetery. The cemetery posed two problems – one it closed at 8 pm and it was getting late; two – I would need permission to go into the cemetery with a metal detector. We agreed to meet this morning at 8am and Maura was going to try to get in touch with the cemetery to explain the situation and get permission.  As a rule of thumb I never go near a cemetery with my metal detector but this was a different circumstance – however another twist was it is Memorial Day and there could be increased traffic and I did not want to appear disrespectful.

I met Maura, her mom and her brother-in-law at the house. I checked the car first with the scope, no dice. I went into the backyard and looked around the porch, again I came up empty. I searched around the side and front of the house just in case the cross was lost getting in or out of the car and nothing. Maura still had not been able to get in contact with the folks from the cemetery but we were going in hopes of maybe finding someone there.

We pulled into the cemetery and low and behold they were cutting the grass…well this was good…and bad. We could hopefully get permission but did they cut where I needed to look?!? By the time we parked and got out of the cars the cemetery worker was zooming away on his mower. Maura went to try and talk to him and I followed her mother up a brick pathway toward the grave so I could have a look around. I was a few feet behind her mother intently looking around when all of a sudden…in the middle of the path…was the cross! Maura’s mother turned around and could not believe I had found it just laying there. She was so happy and relieved. Maura heard the commotion and came back over to find out the cross was recovered. They two of them were both so happy and relieved to have it back. Maura was in amazement as to how it was there on the path, she said that they had been up and down there several times looking and did not see it. Her mother had said that she had been praying to St. Anthony and I had been as well. Then Maura pointed out that the cross was found next to the grave of another person who was special to them. Coincidence, I think not, I believe there was some divine intervention and maybe multiple layers of it!! It was a pleasure to be able to locate the cross and return it and as always – great to meet kind and generous people.

Lost Wedding Ring – Found! (2nd in one day), Monroeville near Pittsburgh, PA

So…I had just left my last customer to check out a lead on a place to metal detect when I received a phone call for another lost ring. This was wild because business had been pretty quiet lately. So I spoke to Jim who told me he lost his ring just a short time ago cutting his lawn. He sent me his address and as luck would have it he was only about 20 minutes away.

I arrived at Jim’s house and I was feeling much better about locating his ring. He had just lost it in his backyard and stopped mowing immediately. I grabbed my equipment and got started. While I had a lot less area to search it seemed to take me forever after finding the last one so quickly. In reality it took me about 10-15 minutes and I located it hiding in the cut grass. Jim was extremely grateful to have his wedding ring back and I was happy to help. As always it is great to meet nice and generous people like Jim and have a positive outcome!

Repeat Customer! Wedding Ring Found for Second Time – near Pittsburgh, PA

Last week I received an early morning text « Good morning, Remember me. You found my wedding ring two yrs ago ». I had to sheepishly respond that I was sure I did but that I do not save customers in my phone. He told me it was Blaize and I immediately remembered him – the lawn king!  I told him I did remember and  I was hoping it was just a nostalgic text but was guessing probably not. He responded – « I need your service again ». We talked on the phone and he had lost his wedding ring out working again. I had previously found his ring in near record time and I cautioned him that there was no guarantee I could replicate that, especially after he told me he lost it nearly a week ago at one of his jobs.  He did say he had a pretty good idea as to which job he lost it at and where.

So I met up with Blaize later that afternoon. We took a long walk back a large gravel driveway and then a turn; this was BIG yard. He told me he thought he must have lost it cleaning out the deck chute on the rider. He gave me an area and said I think it is here or maybe in that big clump of bushes or maybe in the clipping piles. I asked for his best guess…he said start in the bushes. So I walked over and started into the high grass and bushes and suddenly I hit a solid sound. I looked down and low and behold there it was. After looking at the area I had to search and the other uncertainties I was just as surprised as Blaize was elated. It was a heck of a stroke of luck to find it so quickly. We talked for a few minutes when someone stopped to request his services and I took off to check out a lead he gave me on a spot to metal detect. It was nice to see Blaize again; he is great to talk with and generous guy. Lost Gold Ring Recovered/Returned In High Point NC

Got a call yesterday about a lost Gold wedding band ring that was lost in the backyard of a place they were staying at. I went out and met the gentleman who lost the ring and he walked me through what he was doing when he thought he lost his ring. He even tried to locate it himself with a couple metal detectors he borrowed with no luck and that’s when they called me. I began my search and found the ring in about 30 minutes of searching. I was glad to help him and he was very happy to have it back as it was passed down from his father.

White Gold eternity ring lost in a park

I had a call from Isabella , who had lost her very precious white gold eternity ring whilst on a family picnic in a local park , she had taken off both rings she was wearing and laid them on the picnic blanket, after finishing the picnic , she shook off the blanket to remove grass etc and both rings flew off , she managed to find one ring but the eternity ring was missing.

I met Isabella at the park this morning and after a gridded search I recovered her eternity ring , which was a long way and completely opposite direction of the other ring , Isabella was in denial that it would ever be found , she was so relieved and overjoyed to be reunited with her very precious ring .

Furthest & Fastest Recovery! Lost Silver & Diamonds Ring at Keawaula Beach…FOUND!!!

This ring find began when I got a call from Ryan who was on vacation with his girlfriend Kat both from Albany, New York.  While enjoying the day at Keawaula Beach which happens to be the furthest beach from my home, Kat had taken her Silver & Diamonds ring off and placed it in the cup holder of her beach chair.  When they were getting ready to leave Ryan picked up the beach chair, not realizing the ring was in the holder, shook the sand off the chair and the ring disappeared into the soft white sand.  I was at the Animal Hospital, picking up our dog and I told him it might be a bit but I would grab my gear when I got home and would get there as fast as I could.  Ryan said to call when I was near and he’d come out to the road to flag me down.  Traffic was awesome and I got there in about an hour.  Ryan walked me down and Kat was seated next to the area on the beach.  Ryan had the area marked with sticks but I asked him to draw a box in the sand where he thought the ring would be.  As Ryan was dragging my scoop through the sand along with one of his steps the ring exposed itself and glistened in the sun.  I said look there is the ring as I reached down to retrieve it.  Kat and Ryan were in total amazement.  Either Ryan’s foot or the scoop moved just enough sand to expose the ring.  I guess I can call this my furthest & fastest ring recovery ever.  Aloha to Kat & Ryan!

Lost ring found in Aumsville Oregon

Oregon lost ring Oregon lost jewelry I received a late night message inquiring if I was Greg from Ring Finders, and if I could help locate a lost ring.

In our text exchange, Tamerik explained that the lost white gold ring was worn on a chain around his neck. He had been helping a friend move some chairs from a shed, across the backyard. It wasn’t until his friends father found the broken chain that he realized the ring was gone.

Aumsville is about a hour down the road and I was able to head down the next day in the late afternoon.

When I arrived, I met Tamerik and he showed me the area he thought the ring should be.  He showed me the shed where the chairs were stored, and the approximate path he took while carrying them.

I started with my Minelab, doing a quick search over the suspected area. Quickly I discovered the area was super trashy, with multiple hits at various depths. I switched to a more systematic grid-search, getting great hits, but nothing near the surface. After about a hour, both Tamerik (who had been watching), and I were getting discouraged.

Tamerik‘s friend was there, so we had another conversation. He pointed out the approximate location where he thought his father had found the broken chain. Putting on my thinking cap, I looked at the yard, and decided on the shortest path I would take. I switched to my Garrett AT Gold with a smaller coil (always bring multiple detectors).  After about 10 minutes, I got the signal I was looking for. Bent down, parted the grass, and there was the  missing gold ring.

Cellphone with Credit Cards Lost on First Day of Vacation .. Found by Ringfinder

Venessa and Heather’s family were vacationing at Sunset Beach, Orange County, CA. They were staying for a week in a beach front rental. The first evening of their stay Heather’s husband lost his celphone that had his credit cards in the case.

Venessa called me asking for help the next morning.  They had videos that showed the iPhone in his back pocket ready to dislodge from his pocket.

The most likely spot didn’t reveal the phone. No problem, he was positive of the limits of his actions that night. Maybe a third of a football field. Could take a little time but I knew it would show up if it had not been picked up. The area did not have much foot traffic, so I wasn’t worried about that.

It did take an hour and a half but it could have been quicker if I started from the left instead of starting on the right side of the zone. Vacation saved ! It was my pleasure to be available to help them.

Found class ring and tassel after a tornado took the house away.

While working with a neighborhood that was hit by a tornado, I found a matching class ring and then a tassel 2 houses away and 300’ apart. I had been advertising The Ring Finders directory on social media heavily after the tornadoes and have been busy taking calls. These two things are the only things Kris has back after her house was literally picked up and carried away. Terry her husband met me out by what used to be their house to get the items and take them to Kris. My heart goes out to all the tornado victims.

Yellow Gold Diamond Engagement and Wedding Rings Lost in the Ocean, Found and Returned North Myrtle Beach SC

This adventure started about 10:41 p.m. Friday night when I got a text message asking if I was the right guy to find lost items. I confirmed I was and received the following text from Gene, “My wife lost her wedding ring and band today on the beach near Kingston Plantation. Are your services available? Are you in the area?” I called his number and discussed what happened, what time and if it was in the water. Gene told me Jessica; his wife lost her rings about noon in ankle deep water. Taking a quick look at the tide tables, the loss happened about 2 hours before low tide. Shouldn’t be too hard, but there’s not too many searches that are easy. This one was no different. I told him I’d meet him about 12:30 the next afternoon, which was today, Saturday May 25th. The next afternoon low tide was about 3:15, so getting there early I could work the outgoing tide.

I showed up as scheduled and met Gene, his father-in-law Greg and his sister-in-law Samantha. Gene walked me out in the water and lined himself up with the resort and said she lost it right about here. I asked Gene how she lost them, and he stated trying to catch a football. The football hit her rings just right to push both rings off her finger. He told me both rings were yellow gold. So, on my Nox 800, lady’s yellow gold rings show a VDI (visual display Indicator) of 13-15. Unfortunately pull tabs, which there are 100s that end up on the beach, show 14. This could mean a lot of digging. I started an east/west grid from about the mid tide line working perpendicular to the tide line. I had a heck of a time keeping my grid lines straight. I changed course and did a north/south grid to eliminate the upper slope of the beach. When I got about as far as I could and still see my grid lines, I took a break. By now the tide had rescinded to the point I was sure the rings were at the bottom of the sloop and right in the trough, which is where the ocean breaks onto the beach. At that point I decided to start over on the far-left border of the search zone. About halfway across the zone I got a solid, banging 14 VDI. I was sure I had a ring. I took a big scoop and checked the hole. I had the target. Problem was, after I washed out the sand, I had a scoop full of broken shells. I shook the scoop moving the shells; I took a couple of handfuls of shells out and shook the scoop again. Still wasn’t seeing anything. I did that 3 times and finally saw the small engagement ring with the diamond. Boom! Put the ring in my pocket for safe keeping and ran the coil over and around the hole. About a foot away I got another solid 14. Dug the target, made sure the hole was clear and walked up the sloop and dumped the scoop. Ran the coil over the pile, located the target, spread it out with my foot and saw the gold wedding band. I had both rings. I was going up to grab my phone and take a picture to send to Gene and surprise him, but as I’m trying to get that done, I saw Gene and Greg walking towards me. I showed them the rings, and both were excited. I told Gene he could surprise Jessica but that didn’t work either. We turned around and the rest of the gang was standing on the 5th floor balcony. It wasn’t long before Jessica, her mom and sister was on the beach. Think there were a few happy tears, and all was good!!!!
